Goal-Oriented Aspiration: L3 side Hustle
« on: August 14, 2022, 05:17:23 PM »
My first teen completed this aspiration the conventional way, joining the Computer Club and the Video Game Streamer job.
Are the Simfluencer and Streamer jobs the only way to satisfy the "Reach Level 3 in a Side Hustle" task for the third and final milestone?

I read on the official forums that the usual teen part-time jobs (such as lifeguard and barista) don't count for this task.
Has anyone tried reaching 3 stars from Odd Jobs?
For my next generation of teens, I'll try the Odd Jobs route with a spare.
I'll be sure to report back.

If you've had experiences with this aspiration, please share!

Barista definitely didn't complete the "hustle" task for my teen. Video Game Streamer did.

To answer my own question, I play-tested this and discovered:
1) Completing Odd Jobs will raise the Entrepreneur skill but doesn't affect the "Side Hustel level" for that task.
After earning 3 stars for Odd jobs, my teen's task showed "Reach Level 3 in Side Hustle 0/3."
2) For a teen in the Video Game Streamer or Simfluencer career, their career level will increase the above task.
So after joining at Level --> Reach Level 3 in a Side Hustle 1/3
After maxing the career --> Reach Level 3 in a Side Hustle 3/3

I guess a teen intending to complete the Goal Oriented aspiration will need to max one of the two new teen careers.
Too bad none of the existing teen careers count.

I'm keen to know the full list. I'm raising Maxine Landgraab -- finally back at my fav big house after getting a Landgraab relative through university -- with the hope of completing all 4 teen aspirations. And I've been wondering about the path of least resistance. It would be great if drama club counted, because a child can sign up for that. But if the other part-time stuff doesn't, then presumably there's zero chance of after-school activities counting. But they have levels?

But fame makes everything better, so I'll get Max to superstar fame while she's a teen. Easy street perk will make promotions trivial. Right now she's a toddler learning to think in front of the dining room fireplace.
It is a little thing of my own. I call it "Heart Foam". I shall not publish it. Farewell! Patience, Patience, farewell!

Exit Bunthorne.

Hey Heart Foam, I've missed your sims Very Much1 <3
Based on my limited experience, several activities (besides Trendi and Livestreaming) will help boost the Entrepreneur skill.

--Activities that my sims have done that definitely boost the Entrepreneur skill (but don't count for Goal Oriented):
*Selling crafted stuff on Plopsy
*Completing Odd Jobs
*Publishing books
*Selling paintings to collector/art gallery (tip from Rhoxi)

--Activities I haven't play-tested but will probably also boost the Entrepreneur skill (but also won't count for Goal Oriented)
*Sales using the vendor table or The Street Gallery (for paintings)

--Freelancer career
This job option didn't show up for my teen.

The HSY pack isn't integrated with base game teen careers, so I've only succeeded in completing the "Reach L3 in a Side Hustle" by maxing the Simfluence or VG Livestreamer career.
Haha, I love the blingy, gold two-screen computer my teen receiving for maxing the Livestreamer career!
I've played teens doing both of the HSY careers and felt that the Livestreamer career was easier.
Please share if your experiences prove differently. :D

Edited to add: My Not So Berry teen was a Llamacorn Scout but that didn't count for the last Goal Oriented milestone either.
Of course not--it's not a side hustle, haha.
Also, to make extra sure that the task would complete, my teen didn't quit the Livestream career until he completed that "L3 in a side hustle" task.

As for the entrepreneurial skill, selling the paintings you create also works.

Did your sim sell them directly from inventory or did they use Plopsy or the Street Gallery?

No Plopsy or anything, just sold to collector/gallery right of the easel.

Thank you! Such helpful info!  My Simfluencer teens are just doing reviews this time around, but it's good to hear about all the options.
Maybe it's time to put all their unneeded photos on a wall and sell them to publications...

@Rhoxi

My teen sold 10 photos first and her Entrepreneur skill didn't budge.
Then, she tried your tip and sold a few of her mother's paintings. My teen gained Entrepreneur skill but the mother earned Fame, hehe.
