Your kids are very cute. I hope you get round the issue somehow.

Since you've unlocked the Oracle career, what about switching MacKenzie to a different career and importing a sim with Gourmet Cooking skill from the Gallery?
Sorry, it's not the greatest solution since MacKenzie can't visit a library to read a Vol 1 Gourmet Cooking skill book.
Best wishes!!!

@Granny Lawlor Thank you! That's all there really is in these hard times  :-[

@oshizu That's what I'm thinking, though it can't be right now because we've already filled our Gen3 move-in quota. Is it really not possible to get GC up?

HelenP completed an Apocalypse challenge with a former WC who'd maxed Gourmet Cooking but chose a different career than Chef.
Later her founder wrote a GC skill book and the Chef heir reached L8 GC by reading that skill book and incessantly using the "Discuss Gourmet Cooking" friendly social.

As for MacKenzie, now that you can visit non-library community lots and other sim households, can't MacKensie visit lots with a kitchen and learn Gourmet Cooking there?
Some examples: Center Park/Myshuno Meadows, Finchwick/Gnome's Arm), Brindleton Bay/Salty Paws Saloon
Sorry, if that's not a viable solution; I haven't played this challenge in years and I confess I'm too lazy to reread all the rules.

Another option, I guess, would be to move in a premade Townie with Gourmet Cooking skill.
For example, Raj Rasoya has L7 GC and Mila Munch has L8 GC.

Another option might be to create a club with a Skill-based Admission requirement that includes Gourmet Cooking.
You might find a random townie with that skill to marry and move in.
If you're not thrilled with their looks, that's what using a mirror to "Change Sim" is for.

My apologies if none of these options are helpful. I tried! :D

@oshizu I think you just made me realize something... I did restrict traveling by phone under eSports, but her sister is doing that career so that will in fact work. I'll just be waiting a bit longer, but it will be possible to complete with Diamond Agent+eSports. Thank you!

Also she is gaining skill by reading a GC book written by a WC, I just didn't know if that was enough.

In the absense of a fridge/stove, HelenP wasn't able to reach GC 8 with the skill book alone.
After she couldn't get any higher with the skill book, she continued leveling GC with the "Discuss GC" social.
I mean, I'm not talking out of my own experience, lol. Just sharing what HelenP did. :D

Oh yea I see, it looks like you can consistently only get to Lvl6 with a sim-written skill book.

9. Sky High

Vienna: My son is a child now! Isn't he adorable?

He'll be doing the same aspiration as Sabrina (motor) but he will actually be able to finish it as I will be clearing Tech Guru soon. They play together a lot, but Sabrina's got a much higher motor level than him so she gets frustrated sometimes.

Meanwhile, I'm working on Level 9 of my career. It's very difficult and would likely take four work days even if everything goes perfectly.

Since I only work 4 days a week, I hung out with Xye a bit today.

I don't really know how to express my feelings sometimes, and he got mad at me. Motherhood has not been smooth sailing for me, I don't know how Clem does it. Or my mom, to be honest.

I've never been the best at communicating my feelings, and it's probably because of how much of my time is spent online. Maybe that's why I dated an alien. I just wasn't made for this world.

It was hard, but I did it. I maxed my career. We can now use all types of electronics.

_______

Mackenzie: Clem sat me down the other day, and explained how I am going to reach the top of my career without gourmet cooking.

Clem: Yeah, can I explain it?

Mackenzie: Sure.

Clem: So basically, if we can fully travel with Vienna and my restriction lifted, you can go to another lot and use their kitchen appliances

Mackenzie: Isn't that technically illegal? The rules say we cannot use any appliances until I max my career.

dovey: I'm making an exception for the coincidence of compatible careers that just happened to align as this restriction was lifted. Also, there's another exchange we'll be making to keep things equal.

Mackenzie: What is it?

Clem: I... I'll be sacrificing myself.

Mackenzie: What? Absolutely not.

Clem: It's okay, Kenz. I discussed this with dovey and I'll be offering up my life after I turn into an elder for this exception. It'll be like I was never here.

Mackenzie: Never here-? What do you mean? Will we forget you?

Clem: Maybe, I'm not sure. My Diamond Agent work will not be undone, but I don't know if you'll remember me.

Mackenzie: Clem- Why would you do this for us? You don't owe anything to this family, you've already done so much, raising everyone and helping us with such an important restriction.

Clem: For us? They're my kids too. I'm just as much apart of the Lylith family as you are.
And anyways, the world above needs a payment for all the Lyliths living forever after you move out.
Don't worry about me, Kenz, just focus on clearing your restriction so we can finally eat properly.

Mackenzie: *sobbing* Oh, you're too good for this world, Clem. Will I remember you?

Clem: I- if you must.

dovey: clem, you know she can't.

Clem: She won't even remember that she can't. If the lie can help her be more comfortable, for now, I will do it.
Fly high, Mackenzie. I know you can do it.

_______

Clem: The third generation of kids is growing quickly. Cooper and Elsa are in the Entertainer and Athlete careers respectively.

Coop's such a charismatic boy, they both are. I want to tell him about my deal with the devil, but that'll just cause him unnecessary pain and he needs to focus on himself.

Asher, well, Asher...

I'm afraid to tell Asher, because I feel like he'll up and insist on going with me to the land beyond. He's a hopeless romantic like that.
Mateo told me on the phone the other day that he loves the city and is a wonderful roommate. The city's so full of life, I know he'll be able to go on once I'm gone.

Sorry, I just really don't want to talk about me. Rather, my kids.

Sabrina and Sadie are beautiful young ladies now. Sabrina's kept her blonde hair since she thinks it suits her more.

When they were kids, Sadie did so much logic training that she aged up with Level 6 Logic! I am very impressed.

Sadie: It's really fun for me, honestly. I still prefer the chess table over the TV.

Clem: Oh yeah, the TV! We've got a cute little penguin, thanks to Vienna.

I'm glad I met you all. You were the most wonderful to me.

_______

dovey's notes

hi! yeah that was really depressing, sorry. So what really happened is my game is SO glitchy, I had to delete Clem from the world because her clothes and hair were glitching. Also decided to keep this chapter short because the only other thing to say really is Cooper and Elsa stuff, which is just very out of place.

My gaming laptop literally fell off its hinges so I don't know if I'll be updating soon. Mackenzie is at Lvl 9 and she's the last one of the four Gen2 kids, so I think this is the last Gen2 post? I might do one more for Kenzie. Idk, you'll see.

You're working so hard at keeping to the restrictions alongside all your glitchesand hardware issues! I hope it can be sorted.. Congrats to Vienna for clearing tech-guru. That's a major achievement!

I'm so sorry about the beautiful Clem.
Did her clothes and hair consist of outdated cc?  Couldn't you just change her hair and clothes/
In my NSB, I was using a cc hair color palette that gave me 50+ shades of hair but cause a lot of inventory-related issues.
I finally just deleted that color palette cc.  I have much fewer hair color choices for my sims now, but my game lags less and al inventories work fine.
Still, I was pretty sad about having to change my founder's hair. :(

Kye is precious!
