How to find a tombstone/urn (without mods)? (Solved)
« on: June 18, 2022, 09:36:30 AM »
Hello.

I just get off a little play session on my laptop (the first time of playing in a month or so). Everything did look the same except from the fact that my active sim did get a message that a friend had died.  But that sim were a "townie" and someone she had added as friend herself. It was not someone who I did have a relation with. I did also find out that the auto aging of non active sims were on and I did change it.

After this I did check all of my sims and did not find any oddities except that Alice Spencer-Kim had also passed away and the family tree said it was due to electrocution. However, it did not say where she died and after this I did search the net like crazy but I could not find a good answer to where I should look for the tombstone/urn. The way that she died implies that the did try to repair/upgrade something and I would think she was home at the time. I did search the lot but no sign of any tombstone/urn. No one in the family had the items in their inventory and the "family inventory" were also blank. I did search on the lot (hard in deep winter) but no stone or urn. So how do I find the tombstone/urn without going through every millimeter (or Inch if you so want) of the worlds? And this without mods? The sooner I find the item the bigger I find the chance to resurrect her.

They can be tricky to find sometimes.

Urns are usually in the foyer area. Tombstones tend to end up at the corner of lots, but not always.

If either Dennis Kim or Vivian Lewis has died, the tombstones may be stacked up. Sometimes 2 will take up the same space. Sometimes they will be in the same spot at a 90 degree angle so it looks like a cross.

OK, I see. I did not know what " foyer area" meant but I did google it and found out that it's the entrance. When searching earlier I did find a thread talking about that location. I guess I have to explore the lot and the house again then. No one else of the family members have past, just Alice. But there is also a baby now that was not there before.

Edit: No, I could not find anything on the lot. I even stayed with the family past midnight but I did not see a ghost either.  :(

Hello again.

I hope you don't mind the fact that I did post this question in an other sims related forum too. I don't use to do it but this question was kind of important to me and I needed a quick answer. And I did get answers. Not only did I find them very plausible I even remembering that I have read an article about this (but back then I never thought I would update my game so I did not think mush about it). As this is a very friendly forum I can be friendly in return and give you the solution in case someone somewhere having the same problem.  :)

The issue was caused by the so called "Neighborhood stories" and sims can be killed by accidents. This do not create any graves, it just deletes the sim. This is probable why I did not find any tomb on the lot. But I did find the setting in the Game Options menu and changed it so now Neighborhood Stories is off for all. Hopefully.

That was what I suspected, but I was hoping someone else would prove me wrong.  Basically, if a sim dies when not on the active lot or part of the active household, there won't be an urn or tombstone.  NS decided to kill off Lou Howell after only 2 weeks, and here I was hoping to get another baby out of him!  Maybe with a little luck I'll find him in ghost form, my own sim is a spellcaster and can bring him back.
