Literally Seven Heroes 3.4: Nice & Spicy

Mara: Mama?
Esme: Your mother had to go out to work, Child. Come on, blow out your candles.
Mara: Pfft
Esme: Try again, Child (pfft)
Mara: Did it!
Esme: With some help, Mara of the Acoma.

3.4.1.jpg

Elizabeth: Oh-ho! Who’s looking fine?
Watcher: Well – it’s difficult to believe that you haven’t achieved the perfect body yet.
Elizabeth: I’ll keep training and get it soon.
Watcher: Erm, have you thought about what Granny is going to say when she sees your new work clothes?
Elizabeth: I’ll go and change.

3.4.2.jpg

Mara: Hey, Watcher! Don’t forget to get a “first day at school” shot of me.
Watcher: I didn’t for the others
Mara: But look, my new uniform in my favourite colour. Definitely Simstagram-worthy.
Watcher: I’m not sure about those boots though…what was I thinking.

3.4.3.jpg

Darwi: I’m glad we decided to visit the Market Space back in Port Promise.
Elizabeth: Let me just add a superior flush to this loo.
Darwi: But look – with the Green Initiative and the Modern Development, it’s like different place entirely.
Elizabeth: Stronger taps…explain to me again why we keep moving so we don’t reap the benefits of all your developments?

3.4.4.jpg

Esme: I’m not looking. I’m not looking.
Elizabeth: It’s just for work, Esme.
Esme: But what sort of work, Child!
Elizabeth: It’s all for the greater good.
Esme: Said Machiavelli!

3.4.5.jpg

Mara: Thanks for bringing me fishing, Granny.
Esme: You are welcome, Mara of the Acoma.
Mara: You can just call me Mara, if you like.
Esme: You have a proud heritage. It should be honoured.
Mara: I’m not very proud of my fishing. Just one fish in I don’t know how long!
Esme: It is still worth the effort.

3.4.6.jpg

Darwi: Let me take your photo, Esme.
Esme: What, now, in the kitchen area?
Darwi: Oh, right, oops, too late. I won’t use these for the museum. It’s good to practise though. Especially as I’ve got a light week – only 2 modules and no job.
Esme: So there’s no film in that camera? I can pose anyway I like and no-one will see? How’s about I do that flirty pose like Elizabeth has been trying out.
Darwi: Wow, Esme! I’ve never seen you pose like that before.
Esme: Just because I don’t use it, don’t mean I ain’t got it. Anyway, no-ones going to see that anyway.
Darwi (to self): I won’t tell her about the automatic upload to the cloud…

3.4.7.jpg

Mara: Hello, chuck. I’m just sorting out the recyclables. I have to get right in the dumpster to do it. I don’t think Granny would approve so I looked both ways before I got in but I got a scout merit for it so it must be alright, really.
Hen: Cluck

3.4.8.jpg

Elizabeth: Another move?
Esme: Darwi put her vote in this morning.
Mara: Couldn’t we have moved during the day. I bunked off school to help.
Esme: We tried to move while Darwi was taking her final exams but it made her leave early and she almost flunked that module!
Elizabeth: Wow, the air’s really bad here! I never noticed that when we visited the Spice Festival before.
Watcher: Someone vote in Clean Air as a NAP and I’ll set it to off-grid.
Darwi: Wait! It’s getting dark and it’s not windy. We’ll be without power until the morning.
Watcher: Oops

3.4.10.jpg

Esme: Ha ha! Nothing’s too spicy for me. You lot are a load of light-weights!
Darwi: Just a minute while I do my homework in the dark. I do hope I can cope with 4 modules this week.
Elizabeth: This is nice though. Being able to walk out of our front door and come to the festival.
Mara: Have you see the posters around here? I’m going to collect them all!
Esme: If you keep an eye out, you’ll find some snow globes too.
Mara: Cool! This city is great.

Such a lovely household!

Oh, you're doing the Secret Agent project!  Nice1
Will you be doing all the projects, Watcher?

Ye Old Salt House is the best place for completing the post collection!
My sim did the rounds of the whole town but it's so nice to just stay home with the fam and check the utility boxes every 4 hours, LOL!

Poster collecting such a breeze there, better than the flats.

Maybe not all the projects but having a go at quite a few. I'm enjoying the adoption dynasty with the randomization of appearances.

Literally Seven Heroes 3.5: A Rose By Any Other Name

Elizabeth: Esme says there’s more to this flower arranging than meets the eye. Something about secret powers. I’ll just see what she’s talking about while she’s out and about.

3.5.1.jpg

Esme: This is for you!
Racoon: Well! How lovely of you. Could I trouble you to take the lid off for me? It’s the paws, you see.
Esme: What do you think? It’s my 70th arrangement!
Racoon: It’s a masterpiece although…is it me or is it a little faded?
Esme: Watcher!
Watcher: Mea culpa. The flowers last for ever in your pocket. Who knew they’d have a shelf life when you put them in water?

3.5.2.jpg

Esme: Blessings on you, Mara of the Acoma!
Darwi: Blessings, Mara.
Elizabeth: May you be as strong as you need to be and always loved.
Random Stranger: Blessings!
Mara: Thank you all

3.5.3.jpg

Darwi: Come on, baby turtles!
Elizabeth: Oh, I wish Mara had skipped school to see this!
Esme: Darwi! You have done well here. Sulani is truly looked after.
Elizabeth: I didn’t see any litter or seagulls on our way here.
Darwi: Those seagulls would’ve gobbled these little ones up if they were here.

3.5.4.jpg

Esme: I feel…unneeded! I’ll knit some baby onesies. They’ll come in but…life seems a little purposeless. Maybe I’ll read a book. What’s this one on? Archaeology? Hmm! I bet those pictures don’t tell the half of it!

3.5.5.jpg

Mara: I love all my posters. I’ve got 8 different ones. Granny says she’ll help me find all the others too.

3.5.6.jpg

Grim: Ah! Elizabeth Best. We meet again. Now – who is this? Another of your elderly keep fit class?
Elizabeth: She overdid it, Grim. Just like the last one. I got to know her through work.  I’m really very sad.
Grim: Again. I understand she controlled and manipulated all her family. Emotional abuse is a terrible thing. Difficult to prosecute. And yet…?
Elizabeth: And yet.
Grim: Tell me, Elizabeth, how are you keeping track?
Elizabeth: I’ve got a little list.
Grim: Until we meet again?
Elizabeth: Yes.

3.5.8.jpg

Elizabeth: Argh! Who upgraded this loo to a compost toilet?
Darwi: Did you do an Instant Upgrade?
Elizabeth: But I thought….
Esme: Infernal thing! It keeps talking to me!
Elizabeth: It’s a city luxury, we had to have it.
Darwi: Artificial intelligence? Abomination!

3.5.9.jpg

Esme: This is how you do the perfect cast – just like Goofy in that movie he made.
Mara: I got one, I got one! I do hope this will cheer everyone up.
Esme: It was a hard thing to have someone die in our house.
Mara: Mummy sent me off to fish but I was still very upset. I wrote it all down in my journal.
Esme: You’ve been doing a good job, Mara of the Acoma, consoling us all.

3.5.10.jpg

Darwi: Come on, Esme.
Esme : You don’t want a photo of me!
Darwi: You did it in the kitchen. Look, I’ve got a lovely backdrop now. What do you want? Flashy lights, a city skyline, a woodland….
Esme: A woodland would suit me, I think. OK, where do you want me?
Darwi: That’s perfect – outstanding, even!

3.5.11.jpg

Elizabeth: Top of my career and a new outfit. I’d prefer it in pink but I think Esme would prefer me not to wear this sort of outfit at all. I’ll miss the excitement…and there’s still those 5 people I just couldn’t bring to justice. But time for a change. I think I feel the need for a workout.

3.5.12.jpg

Elizabeth: So – bringing her out here was a good idea, so the others didn’t witness the death. I bet they’ll still be sad though.
Grim: You’re getting cold, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: No – we’re halfway through Spring.
Grim: I mean…never mind. Now then, let’s just check the records…luring people into gambling debt with free offers…not illegal.
Elizabeth: One widow lost all her pension and lives in fear of the bailiffs.
Grim: Are there not restrictions they can put in place?
Elizabeth: It’s an addiction and these people capitalize on it.
Grim: Once again, Elizabeth, it’s been….real!

3.5.13.jpg

Grim: Ahmed Tinker. The Tinker family are well-known in Evergreen Harbour. What went wrong?
Elizabeth: The paper trail isn’t there but everyone knows he’s been charging people to dispose of their toxic waste and then just dumping it in the ocean. All the hard work we did there would come to nothing if he was allowed to continue.
Grim: We’re a little off your home turf here, aren’t we?
Elizabeth: I’m trying to spare the family sadness.
Grim: Is it working?
Elizabeth: They’re too nice. They make friends with everyone!

3.5.22.jpg

Elizabeth: So if you say “sorry”?
Mara: It makes everything OK
Elizabeth: No, you still have to make amends but it’s a start. Well done for learning that.
Mara: Why are you wearing a robo-arm?
Elizabeth: It speeds up my tinkering. I need to take it off before work.

3.5.23.jpg

Elizabeth: Watcher!
Watcher: Congrats on your promotion!
Elizabeth: But what did you forget?
Watcher: Erm…it’s raining?
Elizabeth: You left my roboarm on and my work clothes are a full-body dress.
Watcher: Ah! I thought those peach knickers were an unusual fashion choice. Sorry.

3.5.24.jpg

Mara: Snore
Elizabeth: Goodnight sweetheart. Sweet dreams. It’s your birthday tomorrow.

Love the robo arm! Did your sim get shocked a lot while leveling robotics or was it a pretty safe skill to level?

She got shocked a bit. I had to be careful not to send her straight back as I think they can die if zapped while still dazed. She's level 10 now and doesn't seem to get zapped anymore. The Robo-arm helps but it still takes an age to craft all the mechanisms and chips.

Literally Seven Heroes 3.6: Cluck Cluck Squawk!

Elizabeth: Happy Birthday, Mara.
Darwi: Toot, Toot!
Mara: Thanks guys. Now what are we going to do today? Oh no! You’re all a bit sad. Let me console you all. Then I’ll listen to some classical music.

3.6.1.jpg

Darwi: That’s great, Elizabeth. Fantastic shot. You do look good in that outfit.
Elizabeth: Esme’s not sure but I like it in pink. Not quite as vampy as the black and red version I had for my last job.
Darwi: And what was that exactly?
Elizabeth: I’d rather talk about my new job – it’s so much more life-affirming.

3.6.2.jpg

Mara: Don’t drop me! Don’t drop me !
Esme : I know you didn’t need to go to school today but is this really a suitable activity?
Mara: Argh! So..o embarrassing, landing flat on my back!

3.6.4.jpg

Elizabeth: Ah! Another promotion. Wait, what’s that noise in the house?

3.6.5.jpg

Darwi: The mixologist seems to have downed-tools for Mara’s do. I’ll just make a few zebra fizzes.
Elizabeth: I like your costume by the way. You always did suit white.
Darwi: I prefer green really. Have you noticed there’s no newspapers around here?
Elizabeth: Let me tell you the one about the penguins.
Darwi: I’ll just drink this potion while you do that.

3.6.8.jpg

Esme: I thought you wanted me to cook?
Mara: We can’t have you cooking all the way through my birthday party.
Esme: Congratulations on all your good traits. None of us have managed all of them until now.
Mara: I had a lot of help and encouragement from Mum and Darwi.

3.6.7.jpg

Mara: Oh – coming as the maid isn’t very glam. Ah well. Thanks for doing the mixology Darwi.
Darwi: Oh – looks like it’s Knights night. Who is who?
Mara: I know I asked for a slow dance but I thought I’d be the one doing the dip!

3.6.11.jpg

Esme (bowing): Grim!
Grim (bowing): Mistress Weatherwax
Esme: My last hen.
Grim: It’s time. It will be gentle.
Esme: Good

3.6.12.jpg

Mara: Come and get the Kava! Slainte!
Everyone: SLAINTE!
Mara: Ooh – Fingers of Sulani! Hey Elizabeth! Are you still collecting these?

3.6.13.jpg

Mara: Phew – I’m pooped!
Darwi: I’m not surprised! 7 parties in 5 days. It’s a bit much!
Mara: I got gold on the 2nd keg party even if no-one would do a keg-stand with me. Sorry if all the parties got in the way of your last term.
Darwi: I aced it! A+ in everything. You’re looking at a Distinguished Psychologist!

3.6.15.jpg

Darwi: Ok girls. Let’s make the best of this.
Elizabeth: I thought the plan was that Esme would come here by herself and we’d get on with our jobs.
Mara: I’m sure I was going to get promoted.
Elizabeth: After only one day?
Mara: Politics is not that hard to begin with. All I had to do was tell a joke and meet someone new.
Darwi: Anyway, for some reason we got brought here too. Esme needs cheering up after that last hen died. Be happy for her.

3.6.16.jpg

Esme: All that digging and this is what I’ve got! I think I can say with confidence that this is a fake! I wish I hadn’t lost my machete! I hope there’s at least one more at the market tomorrow.

Literally Seven Heroes 3.7: They’ll None Of ‘Em Be Missed

Darwi: I’m all for hazing the new guy but this is ridiculous. They’ve sent me out on patrol to this country area. I found some litter but the litter lout was long gone. Plus I calmed down an angry guy before he started a fight. Nothing else is happening, I might as well fish!

3.7.1.jpg

Mara: And together we can make it happen! Are you with me?
(tumbleweed)
Elizabeth: Sorry, what? I was doing an upgrade.

3.7.2.jpg

Grim: So what was your neighbour Kimber Bheeda up to?
Elizabeth: I was suspicious of all the young girls she was bringing in to the city. I know for certain that some of them ended up in forced sweatshops and they were the lucky ones…
Grim: So why couldn’t she be charged?
Elizabeth: The girls won’t testify. They’re worried about their families.
Grim: Ah!

3.7.4.jpg

Darwi: Look – I’ve got more than enough evidence to charge you, bang to rights. If you do yourself a favour and confess, the sentence will be less.
Felon: OK OK, it was me what done it!

3.7.5.jpg

Grim: And this one?
Elizabeth: I’d got her on the list!
Grim: And they'll none of them be missed?
Elizabeth: They'll none of 'em be missed! (courtesy of Gilbert & Sullivan)

3.7.6.jpg

Mara: Come on people of Finchwick Festival! I know you care about the World Cause!
Esme: I’ll join in, just this once.
Elizabeth: I’m going to do an upgrade.
Darwi: I’ll take photos

3.7.7.jpg

Mara: All you singletons out there! Don’t worry about your love-life. Worry about the World!
Esme: I’m off to bed
Darwi: Me too.
Elizabeth: Can you believe I’ve never done an upgrade at the karaoke bar here? And it’s right next door!

I’m torn between moving the chapters onto 4 to focus on Mara but Elizabeth’s projects are taking longer than I thought and she hasn’t completed any yet!

*** edited to remove Elizabeth giving a cleaner bot. Having just re-read the challenge thread, I realise that she needs to make servos which I hadn't realised she could do. I need to look into this as creating all the parts and the actual servos will take more time than I planned.... ***

Spot on!   :D

My other half and I met in the chorus line of The Sorcerer at uni so I've a soft spot for their operettas. He went on to do more in am-dram productions, the pinnacle being Strephon in Iolanthe.

Sooooo many projects! The one to get a psych degree and counsel sims ... is this an aspiration goal? An achievement? A career thing? I have University but haven't actually sent a sim off to University yet, so I'm curious how the psych degree works.

Sooooo many projects! The one to get a psych degree and counsel sims ... is this an aspiration goal? An achievement? A career thing? I have University but haven't actually sent a sim off to University yet, so I'm curious how the psych degree works.

That's the project "Complete Distinguished Degree in Psychology and counsel 7 angry, 7 sad, and 7 tense Sims, putting them in a happy, inspired, confident, or focused mood"
You have to get a distinguished degree so that's only at Foxbury and has 12 modules which you can do as many as you like in a week but I've never attempted more than 4 modules. Each module has 2-3 lessons with homework before each one plus a project: a presentation, term paper or and exam to revise for. You can just about fit 2 modules in around an evening job like mixology or entertainer but it's a bit of a gamble how shift patterns fall. It's possible that the game controls that a bit if your Sim already has a job. The Psych degree also gave Darwi a career advancement in her Detective job - different degrees give different career advancements.

The counselling thing isn't an extra interaction that you get but Compassionate (from earned trait) Darwi has the ability to Share Emotional Burden or Calm Emotions so that helps.

Literally Seven Heroes 3.8: Too Close For Comfort

Darwi: They look good, don’t they Watcher?
Watcher: They sure do.
Darwi: I’m glad we had that quick trip out to Granite Falls. It was a long way for hardly any time but it means all my excellent woodwork pieces are different.

3.8.1.jpg

Mara: A photo of me? But I thought you’d got your 7 outstanding photos.
Darwi: I’d rather replace one of them with you. A forest skyline as a background?
Mara: OK. How’s this?
Darwi: Outstanding!

3.8.2.jpg

Fetia: Now I’m an elder, I believe I can join your Fitness for Elders club? Have you had much success with it?
Elizabeth: Truth to tell, the results have been…
Fetia: Mixed?
Elizabeth: Not so much mixed as… well…never mind. Here’s your welcome gift.
Fetia: Is this one of those cleaner bots I hear you give out.
Elizabeth: I’m not making any more of those – servo bots is what the elderly need.
Fetia: Oh – it’s a flower arrangement.
Elizabeth: Yes. I’ve been studying it as a hobby.

3.8.3.jpg

Fetia: Oh, I don’t feel very well.
Elizabeth: Just relax into it.
Fetia: My pulse is thready
Elizabeth: Maybe you should lie down?

3.8.4.jpg

Grim: Elizabeth!
Elizabeth: Oh – you shouldn’t sneak up on people like that!
Grim: You mean, you weren’t expecting me?
Elizabeth: Well – er.
Grim: Come now, Elizabeth. There’s no need for dissembling with me.

3.8.6.jpg

Elizabeth: OK, fair’s fair.
Grim: I see you’ve moved on to floral arrangements scented with death flowers.
Elizabeth: It seemed easier and who can tell that me giving them a gift is a problem?

3.8.8.jpg

Grim: There’s a cost to all this though.
Elizabeth: Yes. Keeping secrets from those I love – it puts up walls. I’m not as close to them as I’d like to be.
Grim: Maybe you’ve finished?
Elizabeth: But there are still so many evil people out there!
Grim: There always will be.

Darwi: Ah! So lovely to be in the Islands again. Now, let’s check this description….young adult…blonde hair….wearing a skirt! What? Who put out this APB? Oh – me. What was I thinking. I know that the Sims change clothes in this heat and there are 4 young women here with blonde hair. That’s not counting the blokes – after all, they wear skirts too, sometimes! Back to the drawing board, I mean, station.

Darwi: Elizabeth! What are you doing?
Elizabeth: I’m dismantling these cleaner bots
Darwi: But why? It took you so long to build them all.
Elizabeth: The elderly need more than just cleaner bots. They’re not enough. They need full servos!
Darwi: But Watcher’s never had anyone make one of those before, let alone 7. Won’t that take forever?
Elizabeth: Dismantling these will give me nearly enough parts to make one. After that…
Watcher: We’ll see how long it takes. Maybe you can do it as a background project.

Darwi: OK, Elizabeth, we need to have a chat.
Elizabeth: Isn’t this an interrogation room?
Darwi: Well – yes. The thing is…well we’ve have some strange elder deaths over the last few weeks.
Elizabeth: Oh really? Elders do die.
Darwi: These all die within a few days, sometimes hours, of their elder birthday. And they’re all dressed in fitness gear.
Elizabeth: They need to be careful, exercising at their age.
Darwi: How’s your mentoring going?
Elizabeth: Oh I’m not doing that any more. I’m concentrating on all my upgrades and the – you know – robot thing.
Darwi: Hmm. It’s just – the witness statements all describe someone like…
Elizabeth: Can I upgrade the loos here?
Darwi: No!
Elizabeth: I’ll be off then. See you back at home with the others!
Darwi: We won’t see Esme. She’s off to the jungle again to do some more digging.

Elizabeth: Well, my 7 devils, looks like there’ll be no more to join you. Darwi’s getting too close and maybe Grim was right when he said I’d done my share.

Notes

At last, Elizabeth has completed not 1 but 2 projects and so the next chapter will truly be focussing on Mara of the Acoma. Elizabeth maxed her Athletes Personal Trainer career while I was at work with Darwi and then quit. She had collected the ashes urns as she slew each victim as much to help me keep count as to form a little cemetery. We made it look nice for them. It was the least we could do.

I’m annoyed with myself for not reading the robotics project properly. I’d never even noticed that your Sim could build a servobot to add to your household. It all became obvious when I was having one of my occasional re-reading of the whole thread. I did not cry! Will Elizabeth ever finish it? She’s already a hero but it’s a shame to waste all that skill-building!

Image Note: Darwi wasn't really interrogating Elizabeth. Those hands belong to her 6th collar.

My other half and I met in the chorus line of The Sorcerer at uni so I've a soft spot for their operettas. He went on to do more in am-dram productions, the pinnacle being Strephon in Iolanthe.

That's such a great story, and I'm mildly jealous. I once auditioned for something singing A Wand'ring Minstrel, I. I think I was hooked listening to the soundtrack of Topsy Turvy that my parents would play on long holiday car trips. Then a few years down the line at uni, every spare moment was spent buried in G&S librettos. My nonsense user name is one of the cringeworthy poems in Patience. :)

It's a shame they made it such an effort to build servos. I've never done it. I know it's easy to befriend one, but it's not the same.
It is a little thing of my own. I call it "Heart Foam". I shall not publish it. Farewell! Patience, Patience, farewell!

Exit Bunthorne.
