One of my save files has Oasis Landing crashing the game!

We noticed there was a routing problem with a Sim that wasn't a member of the knowingly problematic household, so I reset him. Still no luck, so they suggested downloading GoHere which I did and at this point the error log is nearly blank but Oasis Landing still crashes when I play as this household. Think they're fried somehow?

They might be? I'm not sure if there's a way to reset the family. Other than to take each of them into CAS, save them.  Add each of the newly saved Sims to the family and save them to the library. Then in a test-save have them travel to Oasis Landing.

If you do that, it will erase all skills, job, relationship outside of the family. However if it works, you can edit those things via MasterController if desired.  Or go back to original family and further troubleshoot them.

This reminds me of one of my Sims that had nearly all skills mastered. That I wanted to have her master and she some how glitched.  I was heart broken. I was going for my own perfect Sim.

I had pulled her into Create a Sim previously, so I had a copy of her. I ended up deleting the glitched version and starting her over. It seemed to work out for the better that I did that.

OK MrsFlynn, it looks like I might just have to save them all in CAS. Glad you told me that might actually work because I was afraid I would literally have to start from the beginning. Granted there are some changes I'd like to make to early parts of the storyline but I wasn't quite sure how to go about doing that in some cases (such as renaming Midnight Hollow to Ghastone in CAW and putting it in otherwise unedited, then renaming it to Midnight Hollow after the unique Ghastone story arc which happens very early on, and once again putting it back in and continuing with the main storyline from the end of the Ghastone arc, almost as a continuous save (but obviously not really). Do you think I should post in the CAW subforum with those ideas?

Definitely try saving each Sim into CAS, and combine them back into a family. It's worth a try, specially since they seem to be a pretty important family.

You can try posting in the CAW subforum, but we don't have a lot of players who are familiar or use CAW anymore. However, you might try asking about that over at the official forum. As there's at least a handful of players who still regularly help with CAW questions.

I just thought of something, but think you've already tried this? Could you confirm yes/no on if you've tried this:

Move the family out of their house either by evicting them or move by phone/computer to a new lot. Then try traveling to Oasis Landing?

Ooh! I have one last idea for something that might (key word: MIGHT) solve the issue, since we already know the household has functioned correctly in a test save before.

What I'm going to do, is, after the family from Twinbrook returns from Oasis Landing, they will travel to the still-slightly-glitched version of Midnight Hollow, because I still need to drop off a clone of a Descendant that is about to be made by the head of the Twinbrook household after he upgrades the Science Research Station, and then after the dropoff is made I will "Switch Homeworlds" - but once I do that I will delete the Twinbrook household from Midnight Hollow. Do you think that plan stands a chance at solving the issue?

What do you think of my idea for a world that BECOMES Midnight Hollow, rather than Midnight Hollow existing at the beginning of time? Is it interesting? Do you think it's technically doable with CAW?

I like the idea in that I love the homes/buildings from MH. What I don't like about it is that I can't see -anything- due to how dark they made the town.

It would be great to have a MH type town that has better lighting.

If you're good at creating worlds, I'd say yep give it a try.

LOL, I keep forgetting the order of bits of the early storyline. It's Midnight Hollow at first, then after [REDACTED], the town gets renamed to Ghastone in remembrance of the event.

Is it possible to rename a world with CAW and continue the storyline from where one leaves off, possibly with a new save file?

It might be possible to rename a world file with CAW. But they may have the same ID number if that makes sense? So you'll need to make some sort of change to the world file itself and get a new world ID number.

I'm not familiar with CAW.  So if you have any questions on it, you might want to look over at the official forum.

I just know there maybe issues with renaming a world file.

Edit to Add:

As a test I just tried to rename the Sunset Valley.world file to something different and load up the game.

My Sunset Valley save file is greyed out with an error message of:

Cannot load this save game. It may have been saved with expansion pack data that is no longer present on this system.

It's my understanding that this may be due to Sunset Valley and the newly renamed world file has the same ID number (Sunset Valley_0x0859db3c.nhd). Plus it does not show up in the drop down list of towns at the main menu. All I did was rename it.

So you would need to change something with the world in CAW and give it a new ID number so to not make the original Midnight Hallow unusable.

The Ghastone storyline actually begins, however, a very long time ago in Twinbrook (in a preexisting version of my current Twinbrook save diverted from the main storyline specifically for the needs of the Ghastone storyline) but that is all you will be learning of the spectacular lore for now...

I've read about players setting up different save files for story telling purposes. I think it's a great idea!!
