Plants don't want to Evolve
« on: April 17, 2022, 02:23:58 PM »
Hi all,

I didn't see a topic about this so hopefully I'm not duplicating something...

My plants don't seem to want to become evolve-able. They are sitting a hairs breadth away in the Normal stage but nothing seems to push them into the next evolve stage. Not even fertilising with Growfruit, which is the top fertiliser in TS4, as far as I know. I'm trying out the Plant-A-Sim scenario and that is literally the only thing I need to check off. And that after only eating my 1st Forbidden Fruit (I'm proud of myself for that and Sulani is the perfect place for a plant sim just fyi) but without being able to evolve to Perfect quality, I'm stuck!

Does anyone know whether this is an existing bug? If it is, I won't feel bad about cheating the plant to the next stage each time it gets in range, but if it isn't then I need a workaround that I can use please!

Oh, you're doing the Plant-A-Sim scenario!  I haven't tried this scenario yet but here are general tips on fertilizing.

I'm sure you know this already but there are three grades of fertilizer:
(1) Very best: Fish or plants worth $50 or more
(2) 2nd best: Fish or plants worth $25 to $49
(3) All the rest

So, if you have a normal lily worth $52 (forgot the actual amount) and a normal growfruit worth $35, you should use your lily as fertilizer until your growfruit is worth $50 or more.
Good luck!
You could also buy your sim a Chemical Analyzer to "Analyze Flora," which sometimes results in a quality boost. Plant, harvest, fertilize, Analyze Flora, rinse and repeat.

Haha, I just launched my game after repairing it.
I'm trying to finish my 100 Baby Challenge, but now I'm tempted to try that Plant-A-Sim scenario.
LOL, I blame ricalynn and you!

I started that plantsim scenario, but I made the mistake of putting her in Henford.  She can't photsynthesize, because the sun never comes out there!
The information on the gardening page is a bit out of date, a while back fertilizer was simplified to just be based on the value.  Growfruit will be worth over $50 each if the tree has evolved a couple of times though.

I played a challenge where I lived in Henford for a year (16 weeks). My sims didn't have that problem with the weather not being sunny, though.
Can't your sim buy Dr. June's Weather Control Machine and switch the weather to Sunny Skies?

I keep forgetting that that's a thing!
It's a new save, so she'd have to work on Handiness, but I guess she could.

You can change weather without any handiness upgrades.  It's the more advanced features ("Advance Season" and "Change Seasonal Forecast") that require Handiness upgrades.
Though a sim with higher Handiness might have more success with changing the weather, though. I'm not sure about this.
