Try the attached file on the first post of the thread linked below. We updated it so your card should show as supported.

HI thanks

Ive now installed that as shown in the guide but cant tell if its worked as my deviceconfig.log is blank when I open it

Did I do something wrong that would have caused that?

I am not entirely sure why some players' DeviceConfig.log come up empty. It's only ever happened to me once. I was able to fix it by creating a new Sims 3 user folder in the documents folder.

Here's a How to on creating a new Sims 3 folder, aka Sims 3 Factory Reset

If that doesn't work for you and you're still looking for a reason why, you could ask over at AHQ.

Its something in the new graphics files for sure

I just replaced them with the original graphics files and device config repopulated straight away

Could something in the code be wrong?

I'm not sure. All I added was the Device ID to the GraphicsCard.sgr file under the
vendor "NVIDIA" 0x10b4 0x12d2 0x10de section.

card 0x2501 "GeForce RTX 3060

Then checked to make sure it was in the GraphicsRules.sgr file as well just above where it says seti cardLevel $cardLevelUber

We had to look up the device ID since it wasn't provided, so it could be the wrong one for your card.

You can find your device ID by running a dxdiag on your computer. Save it as a text file. In the file, look under the Display Devices section for your Nvidia card and look for Device ID.

Share the Device ID and I can check the files again to see if it needs to be changed.

I'll corroborate this. I replaced my (working) GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr with the ones from the post Mrs. linked and also get a blank deviceconfig.log file. It is pasted in its entirety below.

Code: [Select]
=== Options ===
=== Default Options ===

I also get the "Graphics Card not recognised" (I am using a Geforce RTX 3070 Ti).

I attached my (old, working) files to this post. It doesn't have the change Mrs. made to the file (no RTX 3060), though.

Ohhh my goodness!! Took a look at the files again and found the issue. Left out a " at the end of the card 0x2501 "GeForce RTX 3060 line.

We got it fixed and uploaded a new copy.

  -- Edit to Add:

Did some searching on DeviceConfig.log is empty and found a few suggestions:

1. Make sure the game is using the Nvidia card via the Nvidia Control Panel.

DeviceConfig.log is completely empty.
https://modthesims.info/t/601901

2. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.

3. If the above doesn't help, it's suggested to manually edit the files one at a time and try the first one edited to see if that works, and if it does edit the other one and test again.
