Relationships with Foreigner

Ok, so I don't have World Adventures yet -it's gonna be a christmas gift so yay! I've been reading the guide and I'm getting really excited and I probably should have read the guide the whole way through before posting but,.... like I said, I'm excited!! ;D

My question pertains to the sims in these foreign lands. I think I saw something about foreign exchange but is it possible for a foreigner to permanently live with a family?

Yes absolutely!  The first sim I took on World Adventures a few weeks ago....I actually had him fall in love with a Chinese woman. He had to court her for a very long time before she gave in....but she finally did. When he went home to Sunset Valley, he'd use the phone to call her "long-distance" and chat...and then he invited her to visit. He went to see her about three times and she came to visit him three times, and finally on that last visit, the "propose getting engaged" thing came up.....and then the "propose marriage" so he did that and she moved in with him all the way from China. Now they can go on adventures together and they go back to her homeland often to visit.  ;D

I've got a Sim who is engaged to the Special Merchant in China.  They haven't been able to get married yet because the house has been too full, but as soon as there's an opening I'm going to have the wedding.  I think he'll be able to come home with her, but I can't say for sure yet.  I'm also curious about who will be the Special Merchant if he leaves China.

Pam, I'm thinking that if you want to insure that the Special Merchant comes home with you, you should probably have him visit your Sim and let them get married in Sunset Valley. (or Riverview...wherever your sim lives)

I invited him to visit once and he never showed up!  At least if he did, I couldn't find him.  I think I'll just have them marry in China so I can see how it all works itself out.  It'll be good to know.
