There's been a change in my choice for dynasty founders since I finished my short story "Our Best Lives: Adventures in the HoB," a casual playthrough for exploring the Cottage Living pack.
Arihi Talla appeared in that story, but Tao does not. This brief prologue attempts to explain why.


Prologue I

Tao: My weeklong vacay in Sulani has been incredible, Arihi.  One perfect moment after another.


Arihi: Same here. It's been the best week of my life.


Tao: My stay in Sulani's ending, but our friendship's just taking off, right?
We can phone and text each other. We can get together every break from high school.  And…


Arihi (left): Well, no, actually. Once this week's over, I can't see you anymore.
Tao (right): What? You didn't actually say what I thought you said, did you?


Arihi: Oh c'mon, Tao. Stop acting so serious.
This has been a delightful week while it lasted, but it's over now.
Stop pretending like it's meant more to you than that.


Tao: You know, I thought we're well on the way to becoming the best of friends.
Are you saying that, after today, you're fine with never seeing me again? 
Arihi: That's not it exactly…


Tao: So what's the big deal? We're super compatible and we're both single, right?


Arihi: No, you don't understand. My future's out of my hands.
My father, Duane Talla, promised his best friend that I'd marry his oldest son, Katsuya.
I've known Katsuya since I was a toddler. He's a great guy, but my heart doesn't choose marriage to him.


Tao: So, tell me honestly. Your parents have chosen this Katsuya fellow, but what do you want?
What does your heart choose?
Arihi: I hate the idea of being married off as if I only have value as a wife and mother.
What I want is to see the world, make my own choices, and explore my full potential as a person.


Tao: Well, let's say we forget all about your parents' plans for an arranged marriage.
Sneak away with me on an adventure. Would you enjoy living in poverty as runaway teens?
Arihi: Bbuttt…

Tao: Aren't you going to ask me what I want, Arihi?
I seek a best friend to travel the world and live life to the fullest. What say you, Arihi?
Arihi: A travel companion on life's journey…who would say no to that?
Tao: You use the word "journey"--what a coincidence! My given name "Tao" 道  means "path" or "way."



Notes
*Arihi Talla is a clean library clone of the daughter of the Sulani premade sim Duane Talla and a former elemental. She was born in Henford-on-Bagley during a casual game.
*Katsuya Nakadai: I'd originally planned to use Katsuya and Arihi as my BDD founders, but Katsuya looks too much like his father.
  Playing Katsuya would have felt like I were playing my Henford-on-Bagley casual game a second time, so I replaced Katsuya with Tao.
*Tao Yumeno is a sim saved from one of my failed dynasty challenges. As in the case of Arihi Talla, I'm playing a clean library clone of Tao.
  Tao's original family name was Sakata, but I've changed it to Yumeno 夢野 which means "dream fields" or "field of dreams."

Lol, I love your daughter's go-milk-a-cow phrase.  Arihi initially sported that Island Living hair with the flower crown, but Tao complained that it made him look short, so I had to change it, haha.

Tuesday
Arihi: Today, we're off from school to celebrate the Naughty Gnome Fest!
We both chose Have a Significant Other for our Make a Resolution holiday tradition.
I even let Tao steal a First Kiss, even though we still live in poverty. We're official!


Tao: Apparently, our gnomes are also connoisseurs of fine garden roofing.
Only the pink gnome showed up at first, so we bought 3 more because the more the merrier.
Arihi: For our Go on a Date holiday tradition, we went on two gold-medal dates.
Hey, we can buy a party bush by selling those two VIP buckets and our school projects. *waggles eyebrows

Tao: Sorry, Arihi, but we need that cash to build a room and expand the garden.
Arihi: And so, dear readers, Naughty Gnome Fest wasn't naughty after all. *feels let down
Tao: Rain check? *smirks


Wednesday
Arihi: By 8 a.m., Tao has spent all but $1.
Tao: Hey, I'm planning ahead to cover requirements for both our Big Dreams!
Also, compared with you, I'm way behind on my Big Dream requirements.
Arihi: Fine. But I'd like to have a small house to live in, if you please.
And I also need a cauldron and two flower arranging tables.


Tao: In the afternoon, I make my first bunny friend, whom I name Hopalong.
For now, he's living in an underground burrow on our farm.
*whispers: Don't worry, Hopalong. I'll buy you a rabbit home first thing tonight.


Tao: I set up the vendor's table right in front of The Gnome's Arm.
Arihi: I'm off to catch some fish to use for garden fertilizer.
I'll be bringing in the Benjamins once I start learning flower arrangement.
So, I'm leaving the vendor table entirely up to you, Tao. Good luck!


Tao: Within three hours, I'm down to our Whirlyflower Frogs.
Did I mention that, at 300% markup, the Voodoo Dolls sold for $2,850 apiece?
When I close up shop, I've gone from $1 to $10,810. Sweet!
Time to go home and spruce up our farm.


Thursday
Tao: First thing this morning, I build a fenced/gated area for a chicken coop.
Next, I buy a coop, a rooster (Sanders), and a hen (Hennessy).
We'll wait until next week to get a cow.


Arihi: To his credit, Tao buys me my cauldron and one flower arranging table.
We even have a small house and a storage shed.
But we're still sleeping in a tent.
Incidentally, when we leave for school, we have zero dollars (again).


Friday
Tao: I take a day off from school to befriend my hen Hennessey in preparation for the Chicken Fair..
I also persuade a second bunny to help out in our garden.
In the evening, I try holding a yard sale at home (so Arihi can arrange flowers).
Never again! My "customers" prefer socializing with each other over shopping.


Tao: I give up trying to give sales pitches and begin socializing, too.
While introducing myself and giving heartfelt compliments, I max Charisma.
Arihi: Wow, that was quick! Maybe I should run the next yard sale.


Saturday
Tao: Our first Finchwick Chicken Fair features Chicken and Egg Competitions.
I give my good friend Hennessey an Animal Party Treat so she's Very Happy.
Then, I submit her as my entry. I also enter an excellent Chocolate egg.
And, though I'm not that friendly with the Mayor, she accepts my bribe. *coughs


Arihi: On our way home, we stop in the Bramblewood for one of Tao's errands.
Dream on, Creature Creepster. Tao's just the messenger! Sheesh.


Tao: While working on my last badge, I learn that Hennessey won 1st place.
One of my prizes is the Flirty Treat recipe, which will be super useful later.
Before starting to make Treats, though, I want to make all the Canned Foods.


Tao: To my surprise, my excellent Chocolate Egg also won 1st place.
As a result, I learn the Spicey Treat recipe.  Cool.

Sadly, Hennessey and the Chocolate Egg are nowhere to be found, though I frantically look everywhere!
Finally, Arihi buys another brown hen. I don't have the heart to name her.


Arihi: Late that night, Tao becomes a Llamacorn Scout.
Can you spot me in the background, painting my last painting for my final badge?
When I'm done, we both gain Scouting Aptitude then quit Scouts.



Week 2, Sunday
Arihi: We wake up early to tend and harvest our sprawling garden.
It's grown so large in a single week! Partly because I'm growing herbs for the Herbalism skill and for the Tastes Like Burning achievement.
The only one I'm missing is Toxic Chamomile.
I'll continue grafting to further downsize our garden.

Oh, and we end our first week with around $1,400. Still no orchids!

*Why start with teen founders?:
  I love these two sims and want to play them for as long as possible, not just as YAs.
  When they've both completed all their teen requirements, I plan to age them to young adults .

*The Rocket Ship Kit: There's a glitch where household sims can't start building a rocket ship after the first Finchwick Fair (which starts 3:30 pm, Saturday).
  There are several workarounds for Nerd Brain, like doing all 5 space missions at GeekCon or placing a rocket ship kit at the Futures Past Museum in Oasis Springs.
  However, I'd like my sims to have their own rocket ship at home, so they bought one the first Sunday. They'll repay that $6k loan as soon as they can afford it.

*Where's Hennessey? After Tao & Arihi went to sell stuff in Finchwick Sunday morning, both Hennessey and the Chocolate Egg showed up in family inventory.
  I completely forgot that, if my sims leave Finchwick before the Fair ends, they need to return afterward to pick up their entries.

*Finchwick Fairs: In my casual HoB game, my farmer sim entered 10 Finchwick Fairs but never won two 1st place ribbons at a single Fair nor ever won a Pie Competition.
  The Fair judgments are so random.

*Tastes Like Burning acheevo: When I realized that 3 of the toxic Granite Fall herbs could only be harvested in summer, I almost restarted this challenge.
  Then, I was ok with waiting until summer, since I won't be playing full households.
  But now that we only lack a single herb, we're impatiently looking for Toxic Chamomile from the Shops.

Arihi was born and raised in HoB, so Tao feels honor-bound to move with her somewhere else ASAP.
That's why we're rushing requirements that tie them to HoB.

Can I ask how you got the free-standing glass cover and did it not work? I can't see it in the later pics...

I initially used the free-standing glass cover to shelter out-of-season plants because my sims didn't have $140 for 4 columns but roofing is free. We were desperate!
Placing a half gable roof of the desired length and narrowest width, you drag an arrow to pull the free edge outward then pull the globular icon upward to make the roof "curve over" (though it appears a straight slant).
And yes, it did a proper job of letting me grow lilies, dragonfruit, and other non-seasonal plants in spring.
As soon as my sims could afford 4 columns for $35 each, however, I switched to my usual rectangular garden shelter. 
Or were you originally asking about placing a glass roof on my usual rectangular garden cover? (I'm using solar paneling at the moment for the Off-the-Grid lot challenge.)
