Ada = Tech Head?
Kim = Superstar?
I don't think you've done either of these.

Bad luck on the violet eyes...1 in eight isn't good odds...

Yes for Ada!
Not Superstar for Kim, since the Acting and Comedian careers are my least favorite careers. (Like I need more hysteria in my dynasty.)
Superstar's been on my "Big Dreams to Skip" list since the start, hehe.
However, Kim's BD will require Fame. I think her namesake might not be so notorious outside the US.
Bonus clues: Her namesake's family name shares the same initial as her given name and is not someone I admire. o.O
Guess again?

And you're right. The odds are against us, but we'll try once more. As a last resort, we have the light-blonde Cloud!

Ah - silly me! Gold-digger? As my Aphie is currently struggling to get her fame up a notch and get those fans to ask for a selfie, I should've thought of that first!
I appreciate the Ada Lovelace ref. I was only a software engineer for 5 years (pre-babies and 40 years ago) but she shone out as one of the few female notables in the field. There were many in reality (have you seen the wonderful film Hidden Figures?) but not very visible back in the day.

Yes, Gold Digger, with an ironic nod to Kim Kardashian. Against my better judgment, I might add, but I've promised myself to attempt all the Big Dreams I created from scratch.
Once a sim reaches Fame 3, it's easy enough to just donate items to reach Fame 5.  The most time-consuming hurdle for me is "Be Asked for Selfies" by three sims, haha.

Oh my, but you've lived a colorful life! I read Hidden Figures but not seen the film, which is usually my case. :D

Yumeno Big Dreams 6.26a: Born to Throw Darts (10 Feb)

6.26a: Born to Throw Darts

Week 26, Sunday (2nd week of autumn)
Yuki: A new week with new goals and new plans.  From left to right:
Bernard, Morgan with Kim, Leo, me with Ada, Papa Taye, our firstborn Cloud.

Cloud has hit his stride with Don't Wake the Llama.
And, compared with chess, the victor's much easier to visually distinguish.
Cloud doesn't gain logic playing the Llama game, but it's still worth it.

I'm overriding Papa's suggestions for spouse prospects. No brunettes!
However, I do like Papa's preference for darker skin. Here are my tentative choices.
Kentaro Hara (left) is a caster in dire need of re-traiting.
Katarina Hearn isn't a caster but possesses a whimsical charm.

Their best features: their age (young adult), dark complexion, and blond hair.
Gee, maybe we need to explore local talent in Selvadorada.

Besides our twin toddlers, Bernard's the highest priority of this week.
After teaching Papa to knit, he needs to craft 5 Legendary knittables.
You can guess what happens as soon as Bernard moves.

Monday
Yesterday, we spent two hours at the Flea Market after I got off work.
Except for that time, Cloud's spent all his time playing Don't Wake the Llama or, occasionally, chess.
Here's Cloud gloating over his 10th win.

Yuki: Cloud ages up into a most attractive teen.
Maybe we should choose Cloud as the heir, without having a fourth child?
Cloud: Okay, the hair's cool but this isn't Cloud's outfit!
Yuki: Look, that hairstyle is already too extra.
Watcher refuses to install any more custom content for a Cloud Strife outfit.
You're lucky you even got the hair, boy!

Yuki: With all the fuss over Cloud's birthday and homework, I forget about Bernard.
When I check, he's a Lord of the Knits and has realized his Big Dream!
That was quick, Bernard. What did you knit?
Bernard: Lazy me! I knitted 1 legendary beanie and 4 pairs of legendary socks.

Bernard: Well, I'm ready to move out now, Yuki. *donates knittables to charity
Yuki: Do you want to live with Edward on Windenburg Island?
Bernard: Actually, I'd rather move to Leo's future residence, if he doesn't mind.
Leonardo: Go ahead, Edward. I'll be there in another week or so!
And Olivia will appreciate your help looking after our son, Santos.

Yuki: C'mon, Morgan! Bernard moved out and your work starts in two hours
Morgan (giggles): Are you implying you're so virile that two hours is barely enough time?
Yuki: No, dear. I'm saying that now's no time to be talking to plants. *rolls eyes
Morgan: Are we sure we want to have a fourth child?
Yuki: Uh, too late now…

Leonardo: I've fulfilled my Big Dream of becoming an Artistic Genius.
I will not miss this paint-splattered tank top, not one tiny bit.

Leonardo: I almost forgot! Here's my collection of paintings worth over $25,000.
It doesn't represent my best work, but I stopped trying for higher-value works awhile back.
Instead, I've focused on writing novels and Books of Life.

Yuki: By the way, Cloud's taken inspiration from that photo of Cloud Strife.
He's determined to win 10 games of darts.
I checked and playing darts isn't a hidden skill, so he should be fine.

Kim and Ada become Top-Notch Toddlers tonight.
If Fate smiles on them, they'll resemble Morgan when they grow up.
Ada lags behind over 2 hours because she was usually Sad these past two days.
Due to her issue with Morgan, Ada was always feeling Hurt or Still Upset.

Papa Taye hosts a dinner party so I can complete my last Master Chef goal.
With no other duties, I easily cook 3 gourmet cooking dishes during the party.

Papa wisely chooses Cloud as his co-host.
Cloud devotes himself to socializing with the guests and maxes his Charisma.

Tuesday
Yuki: Leo lost the first game to Cloud.
As I watch Cloud hit two bullseyes in a row, I know Leo will lose the second game, too.
Cloud: Oh yeah! I was born to throw darts!

Yuki: I realize I'm being childish, but setting fire to Patchy is harmless fun.
Besides, Patchy can be so annoying!
Taye: Says the man who asks Patchy every day for gardening tips…

Wednesday
Yuki: Cloud earns his 10th win playing darts against his Grandpa Taye.
We're so glad darts worked out for Cloud.
I'm sure basketball requires Fitness, whereas Foosball is a hysteria risk.

Ada aged up too late on Monday to attend school on Tuesday.
That day off allows her to earn her last Scouts badge before Kim does.
But Kim only lacks her Keep Fit badge, so it won't take her long!

Thursday
We're celebrating the Fall Equinox today.
Kim is close to transforming into a Social Butterfly.
But she has a long road ahead before her teen birthday.

I was hoping to catch the twins leaving for school in their sausage costumes.
No luck! They changed before heading out the front door.
Ada will become a teen very soon, possibly tonight.
But Kim will take at least another five days.

When Cloud returns from volunteering, I see him ready to ask Leo for advice.
I redirect him to blow out his birthday candles and age up to a young adult.

Thanks to Cloud's three character traits, Morgan and I are now Super Parents.
The Curator? Cloud's only doing that aspiration to farm satisfaction points..

Morgan goes into labor in another four hours.
We do not feel optimistic about our fourth child qualifying as the next heir.
But Cloud would also make a terrific heir.
Moreover, there's a Big Dream we'd love for our fourth child to complete.

PROGRESS: Middle of Week 26, Year 2
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

NOTES
*Piano & Portable Keyboard: Everyone knows these musical instruments both require the Piano skill.
But I'd never noticed that their songs are licensed in different categories. How did I miss that for so long?

*Volunteering and holidays: Cloud can't take part in any of the holiday traditions.
He completed one tradition before leaving to volunteer. On his return, he didn't have any of the tradition-related socials.
  That seems rather unfair.

*The Gen7 heir: I wouldn't mind at all if Cloud becomes the heir!

I think we all know Cloud is your favourite, even if the 4th child has the right characteristics! I also prefer Katarina's charm to Kentaro although that just might be the hair which makes him look odd. I'm looking forward to what no. 4's big dream will be though.

Good tip on the piano vs keyboard licensing!

I try to alternate the heir's gender but it does't always work out. :D
Haha, the fourth child's Big Dream might be too buggy to finish. I shall give it a go, though.
Maybe complete child and teen requirements for two different BDs in case my first choice can't be finished.

Yumeno Big Dreams 6.26b: Like Father, Like Daughter (12 Feb)
« Reply #187 on: February 12, 2022, 04:38:26 PM »
6.26b: Like Father, Like Daughter

Week 26, Thursday (2nd week of autumn)
Yuki: We're back, now a seven-sim household including a very pregnant Morgan.
L to R: Our kids Ada & Cloud, Papa Taye, brother Leo, Morgan & me, and Kim.

With Cloud and Ada going into IT, Watcher finally breaks out the fancy computers.
And no, she didn't cave and give Cloud his Cloud Strife outfit.
That's the outfit of Noctis Caleum Lucis, the protagonist of Final Fantasy XV.
But you already knew that, right?

Morgan: Yuki wants a girl with white hair and violet eyes, so this is my third pregnancy.
Why couldn't we customize gender so Yuki could carry our fourth child?
That would've improved our chances of a daughter with perfect genetics!
Watcher (smacks head): Why didn't I think of that?

Yuki: Due to lag, it takes me forever to magically teleport to the front of our lot.
Hopefully, I haven't missed Morgan's delivery.

As you can see, our fourth child is a brunette with green eyes.
We name her Alice to honor that classic 60's anti-war song by Arlo Guthrie.

Well, it looks like the next heir is Cloud!

Cloud: Whoa, what happened to my spiked hair? I look so legit now!
Yuki: Exactly. You're now the 7th-generation heir, not the eccentric spare.
Cloud: Is that why I'm dressed in a Realm of Magic top?
Yuki: Right. Besides bringing in the next generation, you need to learn magic!
Watcher: I'm sure you agree that this is a MUCH better look for Cloud!

Cloud: So, if I can move in a spouse, I need Leo to move out. Like, right now.
Leo: Sure, I'm happy to join Olivia, Santos, Bernard, and the in-laws in Willow Creek.

Yuki: And I know exactly who you should marry, son.
Cloud: No, you don't! I get to choose my own partner, Papa.
And I want her to move in while she's still a young adult. I'll have to move fast!

Cloud: This is my good friend, Ayumi Goto.
I thought Papa would want me to "help" with his Big Happy Family project.
Initially, I'd picked Ayumi to be a baby mama.
Now that I'm the heir, she's the one I intend to marry.

Yuki: After Ada and Kim return from school, Ada ages up to a teen.
Then I take everyone to San Myshuno Meadows, including Cloud's friend Ayumi.

I feel bad neglecting little Alice, but I want to keep learning food stall recipes.
Morgan's also playing for tips on her violin here.
Everyone else is over at that white house.

Cloud: Meanwhile, I discover that Ayumi likes me as much as I like her.
I decide to take a chance and propose to her.  She says yes.

Since we're at San Myshuno Meadows, Ayumi and I get married right away.

After that, Papa takes us all to Magic HQ to introduce me to the sages.
Watcher, the Sage of Mischief Magic is wearing my Cloud hair!  Make him stop!
Watcher: Will do, Cloud. That hair was expressly for you.
If you're not wearing it, no other sim should.

Friday
Yuki: Kim takes a vacation day to get serious about making 10 enemies.
I've built her a little House of Hate, like my Great Uncle Castanova used.
Apparently, she's giving that elder a mean gift. I wonder what's inside?

Since Leo moved out early, Papa Taye has taken over the Book of Life project.
He's making such fast progress.
It would be great if he could write Books of Life for Alice, Ayumi, and the Gen8 kids.

Cloud: Ayumu's Big Dream is to become a Master Mixer.
She's not joined a career yet, however, so she can spent today with Alice.
My parents are grateful and Alice also appreciates the attention.

With my parents so busy, Alice is taking longer to learn her skills.
Mama wants to be done busking and Papa wants to learn the food stall recipes.
Personally, I think my parents should focus on Alice first.
There's no benefit in their rushing to finish their Big Dreams.
Well, except to make room for the last generation.

Cloud: Tonight, my parents max their careers one after another.
Ayumi could join a career now, but she's started mixing and drinking cocktails.

Saturday
Ayumi: Marrying Cloud is a pretty sweet deal.
Cloud's given me a Potion of Youth, fixed my Goofy walk, and ignored my Awful reputation.
I've got my own system for my mixing & drinking requirement.
I make three different drinks at a time, put them in my inventory, then drink them one by one.

Yuki: While Kim awaits her next elderly victim, Patchy enters her House of Hate.
Since he won't leave, Kim locks the door and eventually declares Patchy her 7th enemy.
Like Father, like daughter! I should go find Patchy and Inferniate him again…

Cloud was so sure he'd win first place in the Pro Tournament for The Refuge.
Unexpectedly, he comes in third place despite having maxeded his Video Gaming skill.
Wining first place in five tournaments will be a hard task, I bet.

Week 27, Sunday
Yuki: In the early hours, Kim declares her 10th enemy then ages up to a teen.

Watcher: Taye had a significant impact on the Yumeno dynasty's genes.
Let's consider only sims born into the Yumeno family.
I'd say Taye's son Yuki and Taye's grandkids Cloud and Kim are the most attractive.
Alas, if only Kim had been born with violet eyes!

Yuki: I finally quit trying to get Morgan's help with Alice and trained Alice myself.
Even when she's not busy, Morgan rarely socializes with our children.
For the longest time, she was good friends with Cloud and barely friends with the girls.
Cloud's wife Ayumi is family-oriented, so I imagine she'll be a better mother.

One last bit of news for today.
My amazing father has almost become a Bestelling Author already.
Look how close he is!
He'd joined the Writer career but, thanks to his Pro Slacker trait, never went into work once.
He may as well quit today and just wait for his publishing royalties to add up.

PROGRESS: End of Week 26, Year 2

NOTES
*Cloud's cc hair: I tired of Cloud's custom content spiked hair very quickly, haha.
I must remember to remove that hair from my Mods folder and give the Mischief Sage a new coif.

*Master Mixer's Other requirement: I count 49 drinks total in my case.
   Included:
  - The 5 drinks requiring the bartender to be in a specific mood.
  - The new Virgin Caipirinha and Coquito. (But how does one enjoy a Caipirinha without Cachaça?)
  - Dyed Cocktail (requires Eco Lifestyle)
  - Horchata and Espuma Agria (Selvadorada)
  - The six Potions available from completing the Master Mixologist aspiration.
  Excluded:

 - All drinks from the Vampire Lore skill.
 - The five drinks that can only be made using the Globe Bar (Vintage Glamor pack).
 - All drinks from Oga's Cantina in Batuu.
 - Drinks only available after acquiring a Mixologist Certificate.

*Gen8 kids: Cloud is the heir but I'd really like to have Cloud & Ayumi's spawn and, quite possibly, one of the gorgeous Kim's as well.

I'm guessing People Person for Alice - but it's quite a stab in the dark. I don't think you've done it. I hope the party aspiration behaves for you with your regular game repairs, assuming that's what you're doing.

No, not People Person. Alice was originally going to do Restauranteur. Arlo Guthrie wrote/performed an extremely funny (but poignant) anti-war song named Alice's Restaurant which was/is quite people in the US.
I think you'd enjoy the song, but don't feel obliged to listen to it. In case you do, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m57gzA2JCcM

The last time I ran restaurants for my Rival Dynasties challenge, though, they started getting buggy. This morning, i made up my mind to do a different big Dream.
Accordingly, she will be changing her name to Marie.

Yumeno Big Dreams 6.27a: Who Ya Gonna Call? (15 Feb)
« Reply #191 on: February 15, 2022, 07:44:47 PM »
6.27a: Who You Gonna Call?

Week 27, Sunday (3rd week of autumn)
Yuki: This week, we're ready to go busking, hit the food stalls, and go shopping!
L to R: Kim, me & Morgan, Cloud, Ada, Papa Taye, Cloud's wife Ayumi, and Alice Marie.

Kim: Grandpa, I really appreciate this manicure. I never knew you did nails.
Taye: Uh, I don't. This is only a one-shot thing. Your mom can take over from tomorrow.
She should reach Level 6 Wellness before you're home from school. (I hope)

Ayumi: As my move-in collection, I've chosen Elements.  How hard can it be?
I had a few crystals and use Cloud's laptop to buy a bunch more.
After I send them all to the Geo Council., I need to dig up the Chemical Analyzer.
Grandpa Taye says we have one in family inventory.

Yuki: We return to San Myshuno Meadows for my Chinese and Vietnamese recipes.
Alice would rather bust ghosts than run a restaurant, so we've renamed her Marie.
Everyone has something to do here: Morgan's busking while Ada upgrades the plumbing.
Cloud's reading magic tomes and Kim is trying to boost her fame.

I found a schedule for the San Myshuno food stalls recently so we've come to the Spice District.
The Mexican food stall is here on Sunday and Tuesday.
Tonight I learn 7 recipes while Morgan plays for tips for 7 hours, finishing her Big Dream!
She finished her Big Dream before I do!

Monday
Yuki: Papa, I'm asking Morgan to stay and give Kim her mani/pedis and massages this week.
Taye: Darn straight! I love Kim but I don't want to be doing her nails. Sheesh.
Yuki: Same here. I'm happy to help with her Writing skill, though.

Ayumi: At first, I thought I was living the life of Reilly, just drinking booze all day.
Quite frankly, though, it's not as fun as I'd imagined.

Morgan: I can't believe it! All this time, my in-laws knew how to give nail services.
But nobody ever offered ME a manicure.
Kim: You don't have as delicate a touch as Grandpa Tayes does.

Ayumi: No joke! I'm not friends with anyone in my household except my husband.
Cleb: How're you gonna become Friend of the World when you can't even befriend your family?
Jesminda: What are you doing all day that you can't socialize with them?
Ayumi: Well, besides raising my toddler niece, I mostly mix and booze.
Food stall vendor: No wonder they don't want to be friends with you!

Kim: Papa, why in the world are we perusing the wares of this produce stand?
Yuki: You know how you're 'sposed to go shopping for four hours over a week for 4 weeks?
Kim: Yeah, so?
Yuki: Our simverse crashes each time we try to visit a retail shop in Magnolia Promenade.
Watcher tried placing a shop in Newcrest and the same thing happened.

Kim: Well, it's too late for me to switch to a different Big Dream.
I guess shopping in this hick village will have to do. Look, I'm window shopping!
Yuki: What if do your shopping twice a week? 4 hours of this in one day is a bit much.
Kim: Sounds good to me.

Yuki: The food stall schedule is so handy!
I know exactly where and when I can find a specific food stall.
Like, I know that the Japanese food stall is in the Fashion District on Tuesday and Thursday.
For some reason, I have to eat Dango twice to learn the recipe.  I'm nearly done!

Tuesday
Yuki: Max Villareal! I've been hoping to run into you soon! How old are you, by the way?
Max: I'm a young adult now. Still haven't found myself a good job, though.
Yuki: Thanks to your father, Jacques, you and your siblings have never really needed to work.
Max: That's very true, although Hugh is still working as a chef.
Yuki: Well, don't be a stranger. You know where  we live now.

Yuki:  Ayumi only works nights, so she has morning and afternoons free.
Even so, it takes her 3 days to introduce herself to 10 sims.
Despite her maxed Charisma, she doesn't really seem to be Friend of the World material.
Then I remember that she moved in with an Awful Reputation.

After learning the three Moroccan recipes, I go to the Spice District.
I only need one more recipe but the Mexican food stall there is already closed.
So I fly everyone out to Selvadorada and learn how to cook Pastel de Palmitos.
With me done, all five of us in the sixth generation have realized our Big Dreams! Yay!

Wednesday
Cloud: Early this morning, I try a second Pro Tournament.
Instead of the The Refuge, I enter the tournament for BlicBloc.
Perhaps I'll have better luck coming in first with a low-level game.
Nope. I'll have to start practicing. I usually only play The Refuge.

Taye: We celebrate the Fall Equinox today.
My son Yuki and grandson Cloud wear the Astronaut costumes.
But I no longer care about those costumes.
Today, Watcher puts me in the Villain costume which suits me the best.
Morgan: Why are there no cool costumes for women?
I'm sick and tired of being the maid or cheerleader!

Ayumi: I have to be careful so others won't snatch my drinks before I can drink them.
Grandpa Taye gave me an Energized Potion so I could mix a Vigorato.
But Papa Yuki came along and drank my first Vigorato, so I have to make this second one!

Yuki: Marie and Kim both have A's in school, so they've taken the day off.
Marie's really close to finishing Scouts and Rambunctious Scouts.

Cloud: I can't help but feel like I'm compromising my integrity as a gamer.
But hey, I practiced, I played, and I slayed.
I earn my first win in a Pro Tournament for BlicBloc.
Looks like BlicBloc is the way to go! (For me, at least.)

Yuki: Marie ages up to a teen who's already completed her teen requirements.
So she blows out her birthday candles once more and becomes a young adult.
It all happened so quickly, I didn't have time to drop hints about her Big Dream.
She wants to become a Ghostbuster.

After Marie's makeover, we all travel to Rattlesnake Juice Bar.
Because--how perfect for Marie to age up on Wednesday--tonight's Ghost Night!

Much to our household's delight, we stay until the wee hours, just chilling.
No laptops, no magic tomes, nor anything like that.
We all just hang out while Marie befriends five ghosts.
We need relaxing nights like this more often!

Yuki: We've remodeled an upstairs bedrooms into Marie's seance room.
Morgan: Do the rest of us need to learn the medium skill, too?
Yuki: I suggest you spend your time becoming Good Friends with Ada.
What is it with you two, anyway?
Morgan (sighs): That girl has never liked me since her toddler days!

Marie: Thank you for joining me, Papa.
Yuki: I figure it'd be best, seeing as we're converting our home into a Haunted House.
Marie: Just temporarily, though, until Guidry visits.
Yuki: Who knows, Marie? Maybe we'll all enjoy living in a Haunted House.
Watcher: I doubt it…

NOTES
*Shopping at Magnolia Promenade:
My game crashed every time my sims visited a Magnolia Promenade retail lot.
My game crashed every time I tried to replace the Gallery retail lot with the default Maxis shop.
I tried placing retail lots in Newcrest which also caused my game to crash.
After RL hours trying to fix this, I've decided Kim can go shopping in Finchwick.
It will just have to do.

*Selvadoradian drinks:
I watched Ayumi drink both a Horchata and an Espumia Agria but she didn't learn them.
Guess she'll need to drink them again. She has Level 1 Selvadorada Culture skill.

*More on crashing: I notice the devs released a pre-pack patch today.
I'll bet that's the reason for my hours of hours of crashing yesterday and the day before.
We're not bothering to test Magnolia Promienade lots anymore. Kim will do her "shopping" in Finchwick. *sniffs

Oh - that crashing is so frustrating!

I feel really sorry for Ayumi. I hope she manages to reclaim a better reputation. My Master Mixer - Hebe (RIP) - put on a few pounds while she was working through the drinks so Ayumi might like to include some of that ice-cream in her diet plan...

Congratulations on completing your Gen 6 Big Dreams - you're a Dream Machine, lol!

How did Aphie survive declaring 10 enemies as a chid/teen?
My Gold Digger, Kim, still has an Atrocious reputation but she makes friends just fine (even without Ayumi's maxed Charisma).
I wonder if having Kim doing friendly intros and heartfelt compliments would repair her reputaion.
Would "Help fix bad relationship" boost her rep as well?

Have you tried any parties since updating your game to the new patch?
I wonder if the pre-pack patch was also messing with your parties lately.

How did Aphie survive declaring 10 enemies as a chid/teen?

I had Aphie declare her enemies as quickly and as early as possible so that she could have time to balance the reputation. It wasn't easy. What was funny was that she went for elders mainly and she got happy moodlets when they died!

The parties are still unpredictable. Harmonia is throwing a party for Techne aging up to a toddler next. I'll try to get a clean slate as much as possible before she does!
