Oh, Fairy will be a World Traveler! I am looking forward to doing that one, later, when I have fewer Sims in the house.  I hope you enjoy it.

Correct! It's like it was designed with Fairy in mind!

And Obi will perhaps become a Cult Founder.

Absolutely. I'm quite looking forward to playing them.
Having disqualified myself from the HoF due to the whole Puck debacle, I can relax about trying to do as many BDs as possible. I'm slightly concerned that I may lose interest but I love Fairy so...

A Wesseldine's Night Dream 3.11-12: Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

3.11-12: Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

Tania: Oh love! Thank you for asking me out on a date.
Satoru: I’ve missed you.
Tania: Where are we, exactly?
Satoru: It’s a new bar I read about in Strangerville. I thought we could try it out.
Tania: There’re a lot of military types here.
Satoru: Yes – not my best idea. But anywhere is perfect when I’m with you.

Indiana: Now Ermintrude – is this the chocolate milk we discussed?
Ermintrude: Moo!
Indiana: Yes! And it’s excellent! Perfect for the fair this afternoon. I’ll just put you in my pocket too.
Watcher (shrugs): Well done on befriending the rabbits, I’ve put a stump in for them.
Indiana: Thanks – hopefully they will gift me some new treats if I can’t get them at the fairs.

Tania: I hear that you’ve been asking the children if you should spend more time with random women?
Satoru: I thought that might get your attention!
Tania: Well, it didn’t because they didn’t want to upset me by telling me. It was only when you phoned to ask me that they admitted what’s been going on!
Satoru: Ah…
Tania: What’s the big deal?
Satoru: I miss you so much. You never come to see me in our new home. I wonder if you’ll ever join me?
Tania: Well…Fairy is quite independent and the others all look after each other. I suppose…
Satoru: Is it time?
Tania: Yes, I think it’s time.
Satoru: YES!

Tania: So, Star, you’ll be in charge now.
Star: OK that’s fine – have you tasted this Sweet & Sour Pork I brought back from Myshuno Meadows? I must try making it myself.
Tania: Are you listening? Indiana – will you help your sister? I know Obi’s an adult now but he hasn’t got a job yet. Neither have you, come to that…. At least all your produce keeps the simoleons rolling in.
Indiana: Sure Mum. When I’ve done all my garden and animal work, I’ll make sure the kids stay in line.
Tania: Hmmm, maybe I should…
Indiana: No, no, Mum. Go. Be with Dad. We’ll be absolutely fine.

Fairy: Oh Obi, I can’t believe Mum’s gone!
Obi: I know. It was a bit of a shock. Plus she put the others in charge!
Fairy: Star’s OK but she’s always off finding new recipes
Obi: I know. Indiana keeps wanting us to help with his chores but then he won’t let us into his part of the estate.
Fairy: I’m glad I’ve got you here – you understand me!
Obi: The Fairy that loves to fly? Yes – I get you, little sis. We’ll be fine together!

Star: Wow, I can’t believe I’ve collected 25 recipes. I shouldn’t have saved Pho for the last. It’s amazing!

Star: Oh Wishing Well, you nearly got me demoted last week. Please grant my wish for a raise this week…oh for crying out loud! Another week of clawing my way back up. No more wishes for me.
Obi: Well I wished for romance, just to see what would happen. I now have a ghost girlfriend…not sure how that’s going to work itself out…

Notes

‘Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night till it be morrow.’ Romeo & Juliet

OK so this is the first episode after the wise team ruling on Puck’s Mischief Maker. She broke the rules, of course. She also moved out of the house so this Big Dreams attempt is no longer eligible for the Hall of Fame.
In some ways it’s a relief as I can bend other rules when they’re diminishing my fun. On the other hand that might mean I lose drive… we shall see. I’m quite fond of Fairy and what travel shenanigans she will get up to once Star and Indiana have done with their dreams so I’m hopeful that I will continue.

I’ve loved playing Tania (Titania) but once her dream was complete, she was really just there as a support system for the others. I should’ve moved her out sooner – Titania may live in the shadow world but she’s always a main character!

Pho really is amazing - try it if you haven't already!

Star’s double set-backs at the wishing well makes me question how other people get success with it. I need more research.

That's hilarious. So Satoru had been phoning the kids to ask if he should spend time with so-and-so?
I can't believe how quickly the "kids" grew up.
And then I realize that you just posted a two-week update, of course they're all older.
Star and Indiana are nearly done with their respective Big Dreams already!

In my case, I have the most luck with Well when I use it very sparingly.
Pay attention to the Well's "face" after you give it an offering. If it's not the positive face (check Carl's guide for images), give it another offering before making a wish.
I mostly rely on the Charisma perk "Negotiate Bonus" or Research & Debate perk "Convince Boss to Give Bonus" when I want a little Performance boost.

I'm glad Tania is able to move in with Satoru, but it's kinda sad to see her go. But it sounds like Satoru didn't just phone his kids - did he phone Tania and also ask HER if he should see someone else? I hope that was about a platonic visit!

Fairy's hoodie is really cute.

Good luck with the treats! If you get a Rainbow one, please let me know how you got it!

I'm updating and not playing for awhile - three more updates to go - Marigold, Miles and the house tour. But once those are done I'll be playing again, so I'll pay attention and let you know about any treats Mason gets.

Edited - I meant to also say that I get more positive results from the Wishing Well than negative - what I do is make sure that my Sim's needs are completely full and that they are in a good mood. A "very" mood seems to be better - like Very Happy, Very Inspired - not Very Angry or anything negative.  ;)
Then I always give a $5k offering.  I would say that I get a green response roughly half the time-for promotion, that is a guaranteed promotion with your next work shift provided all the tasks are done. I get a white response every so often - more than occasionally. But it's not always good, so it's still risky.

Thanks for the advice, people, regarding the Wishing Well:
  • "Very" +ve emotions,
  • $5k offering,
  • check the face...
I think Star will pass on trying again - she's so close, I'd rather she just worked it. I'm very lazy about getting the Charisma levels up unless they need it for other stuff so I haven't "negotiated bonus" so far. Fairy might be getting locked in a bathroom so she can whiz through her Writing career, lol!

Yep - Satoru really did phone Tania to ask if he should spend more time with another woman. This was after asking at least 2 of their children about spending time with different women. I'm not sure I approve of his manipulative attempts to get Tania to move in with him but it suited my purposes. Only 4 people in the house is a lot more manageable.

Indiana has got most of his animal treats from the grocery shop which doesn't ever have the last 3 I've needed: Golden, Nightly, Rainbow. Indiana just got the Golden one as a prize for his oversized pumpkin. I'll document how he gets the others - it's the first time I've gone through this play.

Regarding fish as a collection - there are extras in the expansion packs - will I get a game achievement for just the base game collection and would that count as complete? Fairy's one fish is a Sulani one... she's only ever got a Voodoo doll from the pond in HoB! I wonder who's been working voodoo in HoB?!? And why did they throw their doll in the pond?!?

About animal treats, Tao got his hands on all of them without any problem.
He had two bunnies helping in the garden from early plus a flock of birds living on the lot as well.
Besides shopping at the Garden Shop on Fair days (that's when he bought a Golden Treat), doing errands, and receives treats as Fair prizes, Tao gifted liked/loved items to his bunnies and birds everyday.
He got his last treat (Midnight Treat) as a gift from one of his bunnies.

Good luck!

A Wesseldine's Night Dream - Closure
« Reply #144 on: January 03, 2022, 03:18:13 PM »
Dear readers
Thank you for following my little dream so far. I have been having a brief break to flip some houses in the first of the 2022 Challenges but this has given me enough distance to make a decision regarding the Wesseldines.
With the flagrant rule-breaking by Mischief Maker Puck, this dynasty is no longer following the Big Dreams rules and consequently is disappearing in a puff of smoke, as all good dreams should when they no longer amuse. Fairy has been cloned and archived.
This Watcher is already plotting another attempt that will hopefully explore some of the Dreams not previously attempted with different characters.
For now, it is farewell and adieu from this poor scribe and Shakespeare shall have the final word:

"Honour, riches, marriage, blessing,
 Long continuance, and increasing,
Hourly joys be still upon you.
Juno sings her blessings on you." The Tempest

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. I will miss the Wesseldines.

But, looking onward and upward, I look forward to your next BDD. Does this mean Fairy will be the founder? She is so adorable.

Good luck in the House Flipper challenge.

I am also sorry to see you end your Wesseldines' Big Dream Dynasty.
On the other hand, I'm delighted that you will be starting a new one in the near future.
Well, I hope that will happen in the near future.

Like GlazeyLady, I'm also wondering if Fairy will be one of its founders. *crosses fingers
I agree with your smart decision to choose new-to-you Big Dreams next ime. It makes perfect sense!

Looking forward to your fresh start. 🧡

Dearest @GlazeyLady & @oshizu - thank you for your support and encouragement and interest in Fairy. Her "cleaned" clone is currently flipping houses like a pro! It's a fun challenge with hardly any planning needed - short & sweet!
