Josie: “Wow! A lot of people coming to Granite Falls at the same time.”
Jaxson: “Finally here . . . and all alone.”
Josie: “Wait. Did you hear that? I think someone is right outside our cabin.”
Jax: “I’ll check it out.”
Jax (looking outside): “Agatha? Is that you?”
Agatha: “Oh, my, did I disturb you? I’m so sorry! I was just . . . um . . . playing horseshoes.”
Jackson: “Isn’t it a little dark for that?”
Agatha: “Well, yes. Yes it is. I think maybe I’ll stop now. Goodnight!”
Agatha: “Oh, I’m no good at this.”
Lydia: “Look, we have to tell her. She needs to know what’s going on.”
Quentin: “You're right. If she gets pregnant, she won’t be able to fight. And you know the prophecy . . . she’s the only one who can beat him. If she can’t fight, she’s vulnerable. We may not be able to protect her.”
Lydia: “I’m her mother, I’ll tell her.”
Quentin: “Okay, we’ll wait out here in case you need us.”
Lydia: “Not tonight, you moron! Let them have their wedding night. I’ll tell her in the morning.”
Quentin: “If they have their wedding night, she might not be able to fight in the morning.”
Lydia: “We’ll have to take that chance. I’m not ruining her wedding night.”
Josie: “Mom! What are you doing here?”
Lydia: “Josie, honey, I’m so sorry to show up on your honeymoon. But I really have to talk to you about something important.”
Josie (chuckling): “You’re a little late mom. I know all about the birds and the bees.”
Lydia (with a wry smile): “I wish that was it.”
Lydia: “I’ll try to make this as quick as possible. Your grandfather on your father’s side has become a very evil man. He’s also become a Spellcaster. A very powerful one. The kind that prophecies are written about.
Josie: “What? Well, I don’t have anything to do with him.”
Lydia: “Yes, honey, you do. He has been enslaving and murdering Spellcasters for many years, and he was already powerful before he became a Spellcaster himself. He knows he is the Spellcaster of prophecy, and he knows there is only one Spellcaster who can end him. That Spellcaster is you.”
Josie: “What!? Me?! I’m not that powerful!”
Lydia: “Yes you are. You are because you have Flavio and Maxwell blood in you. It is a mix that gives you power over him. And because of that, he wants you dead. The sages, and Simeon, and many others have been protecting you, but we believe he knows where you are. And what he most doesn’t want is for you to have children. You are dangerous to him; any children you have will be even more dangerous to him. We think he will try to kill you before you give birth.”
Josie: “Give birth? I’m not even pregnant.”
Lydia: “Are you sure? What about last night?”
Josie: “Mom, I’m not pregnant. We’re taking a long honeymoon, remember? I don’t want to be giving birth on my honeymoon!”
Lydia: “That’s good. Because if you’re pregnant, you can’t even fight him, much less beat him.”
Josie: “You think he’s coming here?”
Lydia: “He might. The sages are here, and more Spellcasters are on standby. There will be many to help you if he comes. Others can fight him, but only you can end him.”
Josie: “Well he can just bring it then. Because Jax and I aren’t waiting forever to start a family.”
Alexander: “Well hello Josette.”
Josie: “Do I know you?”
Alexander (chuckling): “I suspect you know
of me. I am Alexander Maxwell, your grandfather.”
Josie: “Oh, I’ve been waiting for you.”
Alexander (laughing): “Have you now? Well isn’t that . . . . sweet.”
Alexander: “Perhaps you shouldn’t be out alone then. ZipZap!”
Quentin: "“Who says she’s alone?"
Simeon: "Inferniate!"
L. Faba: “Morphiate!”
Josie: “Impressive, but not really what I was looking for.”
Simeon: “What?!? Two Josies? Ohhh, the duplicato spell. Smart, but maybe we need to coordinate a little better.”
Josie: “I wanted a chance to get a look at him, see what he could do.”
Simeon: “Well, you’ll have another chance in a couple hours. That spell won’t hold him for long.”
Josie duplicate: “Hey Handsome, do I get one of those? I did take the jolt after all.”
Jaxson: “Josie, we should leave now while he’s an empty suit of armor..”
Josie: “Absolutely not. If I run now, I’ll just have to keep running. That’s not how we want to spend our lives.”
Jaxson: “Darling, I just promised to love you forever and protect you always. But I can’t protect you in this. We have to leave.”
Josie: “The best way you can protect me now is to trust me. I’ve got this. Well . . . with a little help from my friends, I do.”
Quentin: “Josette is right, Jaxson. She needs to finish this now. And we are all here to protect her.”
Jaxson (angrily): “Who are you to say what she needs to do!?!”
Quentin: “I’m her father, that’s who I am!”
Josie: “My WHAT? You’re my father?
