I'm super excited to try this Dynasty Challenge.  I've been playing a just for fun save using the tournament challenge big dreams list, and having a blast.  I have two questions right now.  I apologize if I missed something obvious.
1. I couldn't find mention of life extension in the rules (potions of youth, cowplant essence, the little grim reaper dolls, etc.) Is it allowed in this dynasty or not? (I imagine not, but thought I would check)
2. In my for fun game while working on lifelong learner I discovered that each of my classes appeared to count as a separate career for the purposes of the renaissance sim aspiration (Getting straight A's my first semester completed the level 3 of 3 careers milestone.)  I'm not sure if this is intended.  In a dynasty run would I need to do level 3 of 3 actual careers before counting this aspiration as completed?

Life extension in this Dynasty is fine. You may have noted that all life states are allowed when you create your founders, so given life states like Vampires are fine, you have the green light. :)

It's been a while since I attempted a Dynasty. Please refresh my memory. Can we use mods in Dynasties? I've just started using MCCC to help warn me of any Last Exceptions that pop up and to use the autosave feature. I have ADD and Sims 4 seems to trigger my hyper-focus mode causing me to play for hours and forget about saving. The last time my game crashed I lost 3 hours of game play!

@Nelleam, usually if the game thinks you've completed an aspiration, that's good enough for us.
@Delokkpsi, I don't see anything about mods in the rules, but we usually don't allow them, so I'll check with the team.

The team discussed this and the rules have been updated to specify allowed mods. MCCC is not one of them due to the far-reaching effects of that mod. But the Daily Save mod is allowed. See the updated rules for the full list.

I have one question about the creative skills as well.  Would DJ Mixing be considered a creative skill?  I think it's ideal mood is confident but any other music based skill would count, so I guess I assumed it would be too.
I will say yes, DJ Mixing is considered a creative skill because, based Carl's DJ Mixing article says "The Ideal Mood for a DJ is Inspired, or so it seems - no other mood seemed to help, and it just makes sense."  See The Sims 4 Get Together: DJ Mixing Skill Abilities, Music Genres, and Crowd Control

(RE: Perfect Genetics mini-challenge)
That sounds fun, but scary.  The last time I tried one of those type of challenges, my sim had 10 kids before having the perfect genectics lol
I remember reading a Sims 3 dynasty story where a sim had birthed like 8 kids without a nooboo of the right life state.
Yikes, 10 kids is an insanely large brood.  My Perfect Genetics goals will surely be considerably less lofty than yours, haha.

(RE: Randomizing BDs)
Well, every Big Dream has a number associated to it on the spreadsheet, so I just wrote down all the numbers on a little piece of paper and drew 2 out of the box.  There will be a few that if I draw them, I'll have to redraw if something else isn't done first, and I know that Alien Antics needs to be done after scientist.
Wow, I'm impressed at how you're going about planning for your dynasty. I'm still at the stage of flip-flopping about my founders, lol.
And I'm still considering the possibility of starting as teens.

I love planning too!  Hopefully I will be able to stick to it and finish it.  I will definitely be keeping track, and if I finish will be submitting it and sharing a summary of sorts.  Maybe I should just share a summary, I feel like that kept me on track in the couple of dynasties I did finish in the sims 3.  I was just doing a ten gen dynasty, but first attempt, realize I broke a rule so started over.  Second attempt, the first heir just turned YA and realized I broke a rule.  I need to get better at making extra saves.
I usually make 3-4 false starts before I feel ready to start, after which I usually restart several more times between my prologue and first update, before i have a start I feel is 'commitment-worthy,' haha.
I sincerely hope you'll post dynasty summaries as you go; I would love to learn from the choices you make, especially since I'm not up to attempting all of the Big Dreams like you are.
Anyway, it would be great to get a blow-by-blow summary of your dynastic progress.  :)

Oh cool, I thought the ideal mood was confident.  Maybe I'm thinking of dancing.

Thanks for the clarification! Also, thanks for the update to the layout of the set-up and rules section. Much easier to digest!

Gold Digger BD has a mandatory weekly task (shop for 4 hours each week). If they miss a week, I'm assuming they've failed that BD and can't complete it. There're similar tasks that might become impossible to complete as a young adult (honeymoon immediately after wedding) but not many.

1) Assuming they then stay must in the household until death, what happens if they are in the 8th gen? Can the challenge only finish when they die?

2) Would that BD become available to a different sim before the first dreamer dies?

3) Would that BD have to be assigned to the next available SIM or is that only if you've started another round of BDs

3) If by some happy coincidence the original failure meets all the criteria for a different available BD, could they swap to that one? (I'm not even sure there's any that overlap in this way but....)

I realise these can all be solved by killing off the failure but I'm a bit soft about killing off my Sims, lol!

Just a trivial note - the spreadsheet already has Fabrication ticked off for Eco-Warrier

It isn't intended that your Sim fail the Big Dream if they miss a week. That requirement is being reworded to say "Must spend at least 4 hours shopping over a week for 4 different weeks." So if you miss a week, just do a different week.

1) Assuming they then stay must in the household until death, what happens if they are in the 8th gen? Can the challenge only finish when they die?
The part about the 8th gen was reworded. As long as you complete a minimum of 16 Big Dreams and play for at least 8 generations, with at least one Big Dream completed, you are eligible for the Hall of Fame. You are also welcome to play more than 16 Big Dreams and more than 8 generations - that is just the minimum for Hall of Fame.

2) Would that BD become available to a different sim before the first dreamer dies?
If a BD is failed, then it becomes available to another Sim as soon as it is failed.

Quote
3) Would that BD have to be assigned to the next available SIM or is that only if you've started another round of BDs
Only if you've started another round. The reasoning is that you start the second round after completing the first, but if a BD in the first round is failed, then you haven't really completed the first. So, the first round has to be completed before continuing with second round BDs.

3) If by some happy coincidence the original failure meets all the criteria for a different available BD, could they swap to that one? (I'm not even sure there's any that overlap in this way but....)
Yes, you can switch Big Dreams if you want, as long as all requirements from the previous ages have been met.
