Adventurous Trait

This is the second Sim that I have given the Adventurous trait.

The first Sim that had this trait had the +10 adventuring moodlet for being abroad the whole time that they were in another country. I mainly did adventures while abroad.

However, my second Sim only had the moodlet for about 5 Sim minutes, and it never appeared again while overseas. I did not do any adventures with this Sim.

Do you actually have to be participating in the adventures for the moodlet to appear?
Or should it appear any time while traveling abroad?

My Sims get the adventurous moodlet only when they are in a tomb.  I think.

I am also currently playing with an Adventurous sim - she also gets the moodlet while adventuring. I also notice she wants to go traveling much sooner than her brother, who has come on a few trips with her.

Also, she brought the family car with her in her inventory, so she uses that to get around. Kind of humorous to have the Prius zipping around Egypt!

Mine have the moodlet (with the compass) only when they have an accepted adventure and they enter a tomb.  It lasts the entire time until they exit.   
I had a different moodlet appear a couple of times when my Sim was time traveling - it looked like a hiker with a staff.  Not sure what it was for but it only lasted a few hours once he returned. 

@ AmeliaAnne - My fireman had his firetruck with him when he traveled once to Egypt.  I'm not sure how he managed to turn the corners let alone drive through all that sand  !

Ah, I see. Well, I'll just have to make him go on more adventures then!

All of you are right. The Adventurous trait gives the moodlet (+10 mood) only while in tombs. It's great especially if you want to keep your Sim's mood high while adventuring all the time. If you don't believe me, here's a reliable reference:

Sorry, but no Wiki can be considered a "reliable reference."  It's one of the most fallible information sources on the internet because anyone can edit it, and entries are often intentionally edited with incorrect information (sometimes for no other reason than to spite the original author).  They have such a reputation for being inaccurate, that any college papers citing one as an information source almost always receives a failing grade on that ground alone.

Yes, this particular bit of information is correct, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
