The Casserole Random Legacy

The Casserole Random Legacy

Once upon a time, I had a bit of ennui and decided to start a new Sims challenge. Something fun, thrilling, upbeat. I craved chaos. And what do we do when we crave chaos? We play a Random Legacy Challenge.

I played a Random Legacy a few years ago and had a ball with it. I think it’s about time I started a new one, following the same rules. Basically, for each of 10 generations, you roll all major aspects of gameplay from a randomized list - everything from household structure to careers to goals that must be achieved. The rules and all of the rolls (and there are a lot of them) are detailed below.

The Rules

The Rolls

I may be playing a bit loosey-goosey with the rules at times, in the spirit of having more fun. Also, I have a bunch of mods installed - all the usual NRaas mods plus a few others.

Come on, y’all. Let’s get hectic.

Family Tree (coming soon at some point eventually)

Table of Contents

Chapter 1 - Who Needs Chairs?

Chapter 2 - Flying Colors
Chapter 3 - Llamas & Frogs
Chapter 4 - Zero to Toddler
Chapter 5 - The Horses Are Coming
Chapter 6 - Recipe for Disaster
Chapter 7 - Lollipop Acquisition Opportunities

Chapter 1 - Who Needs Chairs?

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

This is Kumquat Casserole. He’s the founder of the Casserole Random Legacy and will be leading his many descendents into a future full of unknowns, because we haven’t rolled anything past Generation 1 yet. His appearance is as randomized as it can be in The Sims 3; for most of his features, I assigned numbers to the options in CAS and rolled for them, and for some other features I just closed my eyes and clicked. I know, he turned out very normal-looking. At least his name makes up for it.

Kumquat’s traits: Computer Whiz, Genius, Artistic, Couch Potato, and Insane. (I rolled that last one from my list of negative - er, challenging - traits. I plan to do this for every Sim that grows up in the Casserole household. One tricky trait for everyone, and possibly more if I feel like it.) Kumquat likes electronica music, fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches, and the color orange.

And here are Kumquat's rolls for Generation 1:

Family Structure: Second Chance
Number of Children: 3
Income: Video Game Developer (Game Artist Branch); Equestrian; Alchemist
Generational Goal: Expansionist
Miscellaneous Fun: Fashion Diva

Let's convert that into Kumquat’s To Do List:
1. Acquire a romantic partner.
    a. That partner must become an equestrian or an alchemist.
2. Have at least one child with that partner.
3. Ditch the first romantic partner in some way.
4. Acquire a second romantic partner.
    a. This partner must become an equestrian or an alchemist, whichever one the first partner wasn’t.
5. Have up to three children total across both partners.
6. Become a Video Game Developer, Game Artist branch (achieved by becoming a level 10 Nerd).
7. Add a significant expansion to the house.
8. Be a Fashion Diva by planning at least one new outfit once a week.

Totally doable, right?

Well, Kumquat’s career roll provides us with a perfect opportunity to try something I hardly ever do in The Sims 3 - go to University!

But first, Kumquat needs to get settled. He arrives in Sunset Valley and shows great enthusiasm for the adventure he’s about to embark on.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“This is boring. When do we do stuff?”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I build him a quick little house, being sure to leave enough funds for a couple of terms at university.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Still boring. What is this challenge again?”

So I couldn’t afford to put windows in the front. There are more important things!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Like squeezing double beds into impossible spaces. (This will become important later.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Oh, thank God. For once, I’m happy to see the most obnoxious NPC ever invented!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat takes the aptitude test and earns himself a measly 6 credits towards a technology degree. I guess it’s not surprising, since he has no skills. Looks like we’ve got a little work to do before he can enroll. As much as I love university, I don’t want to spend eighty years there, and neither does Kumquat.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

So Kumquat heads to the library, sporting his new merch, and starts reading up on logic. Actually, he meets and expresses attraction for every single female he encounters, but that’s beside the point. Or maybe it isn’t.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

After reaching level 2 of logic, Kumquat goes home and tries to climb into bed through the exterior wall of his tiny house. Kumquat, I thought you were a Genius.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat is forced to switch to a single bed for the time being until he has enough money to expand the house a little. Moments after he falls asleep, NO! NO NO NO NO NO! We don’t have anything for you to steal! Please! Have mercy!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The burglar does not have mercy.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Please, law enforcement professional, come quick. I’ve been robbed of my...of my...my kitchen chairs! Both of them!”

I guess I've never paid attention to the "Call police" interaction before. Look at that face! Or maybe Kumquat's just extra cowardly (sans the Coward trait).

Well, who needs chairs? Not Kumquat. My original plan was to spend another couple days skilling to try and get some more credits, but turns out I’m anxious to get to university and those 2 logic points didn’t help us at all anyway. (Kumquat’s second aptitude test results are exactly the same, in terms of credits.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

So, Kumquat packs his...belongings?...in a suitcase and says goodbye to Sunset Valley, just one day after saying hello.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

One imaginary drive later and Kumquat arrives on campus at Sims University wearing his pajamas. I think you’ll fit right in, kiddo.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat is here, first and foremost, to reach the top of the Nerd social group - his degree is secondary and actually doesn’t really matter much at all. He starts meeting the nerds in his dormitory, like the internally beautiful Millie Grubbs here.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat continues to have great chemistry with every single female he encounters and I'm not exaggerating, but he seems to show a particular liking for this little lady. Rebecca Lynn announces that she thinks Kumquat is hot from all the way across campus - I’m not even sure how they “met”, except that she lives in the same dormitory. Once she arrives at the dorm, she makes a beeline for Kumquat, and the flirty interactions follow quickly. She’s cute, eh?

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

That night, Kumquat is invited to his first college party. Apparently throwing stuff into bonfires is considered nerdy, so that’s pretty much all he does. He has yet to achieve any nerd status whatsoever.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Classes begin the next morning. For some reason I decided to put Kumquat into 18 credits per term. I guess I just like to make things unnecessarily hard for myself. Kumquat is in class all day and doesn’t get to do anything fun or nerdy. Sorry, Kumquat.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

After a long day of learning, Kumquat is ready to collapse into bed - but not before planting a quick smooch on his lady of choice.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Ahh, I do believe I have found the first of my two life partners!”
“Yay! Wait, the first of your...what?”
“What?”
“You just said--”
“I said nothing of the sort. Kiss me again!”
“Okay!”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

University is going pretty well so far. Too bad Rebecca’s not a Nerd, or this would be a kill-two-birds-with-one-stone situation. Next time, we have lots of nerdy things to do.

Sounds fun...though the University careers seem really easy? Art Appraiser and Sports Agent 100% are. Gives him time to dispose of his wives properly. ::)

I've actually never done any of the University careers before, so I'm excited to try one of them! I've played ahead a bit and so far the Video Game Developer career seems pretty standard as rabbithole careers go, which is nice.

Chapter 2 - Flying Colors

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat settles in at university and dives into his schoolwork. He particularly enjoys the Brain Enhancing Machine. Or maybe that’s a look of trauma on his face. Not sure.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Now, look at that scowl! Look at ALL the scowls! Good to know Sims University has such engaging lecturers.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Between his many classes, Kumquat usually hangs out at Keith’s Komics, reading comic books and playing arcade games to up that Nerd social status. He reaches level 4 within a couple of days, and level 7 by the end of the first week.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

He meets lots of eligible girls at university, but there’s nobody he flirts with more than Rebecca Lynn. A few days in, he asks her to be his girlfriend, and she agrees.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

They even start spending nights together in a Murphy bed in their dorm, she in her old lady bathrobe, he in his swim trunks and shades. I think they make a cute pair.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat rises fairly rapidly through the Nerd ranks, and eventually he learns to Mind Meld. I was hoping something cool would happen when he Mind Melded with a fairy, but alas, he just gained half a level of the social networking skill. (University students are going supernatural left and right. I’m just hoping Rebecca stays human for us.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat also learns to, uh, Body Meld. Or whatever this is.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Anoki Moon must have been affected by that weird interaction, because then he starts flirting with Rebecca - and she reciprocates. I mean, he is Irresistible, but I’m starting to feel desperate to finish our second term here.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

At least Kumquat is distracted by his new best friend who happens to be a level 10 Nerd.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

He and Scot Macklamoor get along so well that Scot has no problem giving Kumquat the answers to the final exam.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat fails two out of his three exams at the end of the first week. (I guess Scot only gave him the answers to one of them.) I’m obviously an inexperienced university-goer in The Sims 3, because I stupidly figured that attending class would be enough for him to pass. This time, in addition to squirreling away the exam answers, he stuffs his face, quite literally, with Wonderpetal. That’s supposed to help, apparently. He also spends a bit more time studying throughout the week. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Well, it sort of pays off. At the end of week two, Kumquat still fails his first exam, for some reason. But he passes the other two with flying colors.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Yay, I got an A!”

Seriously?! How can you fail 33% of your exams and still get an A overall??

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat takes a celebratory photo with his girl before heading home. (I’ve never seen a Sim “ruin” a romantic photo like Rebecca does here. It actually hurts their relationship! And makes me laugh. I do love Childish Sims.) He also uses some Lifetime Happiness points to buy his way up to a level 10 Nerd. (He was so close - more than halfway through level 9 - but time was running out and I panicked.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Now that he’s on the Dean’s List for watcher knows what reason and has been crowned King of the Nerds, Kumquat is eager to get home and get that job offer he’s been waiting for. (Or maybe he’ll come back and finish his degree. I honestly don’t know.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Sunset Valley awaits, bright and welcoming as always.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Back in his tiny house, Kumquat calls Rebecca immediately.

“Ready to come visit me, babe? I know, it’s been like twelve hours! I can’t stand it!”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She’ll arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, Kumquat does receive that job offer and becomes a Video Game Developer. Hooray! But his work won’t start for a few days, so for now, he just catches up on the Sunset Valley gossip and blows some of his spare change on a room expansion and double bed.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Rebecca arrives right on time the next morning.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Welcome to Sunset Valley, baby! I hope you love it here, because I was hoping to ask--”
“Yeah, about that. I’ve actually decided that I don’t want to hang out with you. I’m going to go home for no reason. Bye!”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Um, what? Rebecca stays for about five seconds and then is all like “No thanks see ya bye!” and takes off. She acts like a homeless townie and runs off to a random lot (in this case the cemetery...that’s not creepy at all), where she promptly vanishes into thin air. Kumquat can’t invite her back because according to the game, she’s still visiting. He can text her and “chat long distance”, but that’s it. Um. Okay. This is a problem that I did not anticipate.

Some time passes, and I’m stumped. Some research in other forums provides a couple of possible solutions. So I’m gonna try those and get back to you. Hopefully, Miss Rebecca Lynn is not lost to us forever. Toodle-oo!

Chapter 3 - Llamas & Frogs

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Good news! We got Rebecca back. The solution, in case this ever happens to you, is to have your Sim travel to a different world (I don’t know if University works for this, but the World Adventures destinations do). So Kumquat traveled to China, checked out the scenery for approximately five seconds, then turned around and came home. And when he came back, Rebecca’s “visiting” status had been reset. He invited her to visit again, and this time, she stuck around. Phew!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Rebecca Lynn joins the household and gets a bit of a makeover. She’s gorgeous, and her perfect traits officially make her one of my favorite premade Sims I’ve encountered. Her traits are Family Oriented, Artistic, Hopeless Romantic, Childish, and Bookworm. I mean. Can I be her? Her favorite things are Indie music, cookies, and the color spiceberry. Her Lifetime Wish, for some reason, is Become a Creature-Robot Cross Breeder. Yeah, nope. You have two choices, dear - you can brew elixirs, or you can ride horses. And I can tell you right now, one of those is more affordable than the other one. (Note from future Beks: I obviously forgot that you can adopt a horse for free...)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat is overjoyed to have his girl back, and to keep her forever.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Like actually forever.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The lovebirds scurry off to the beach for a quick private wedding, because they don’t really know anybody in this town yet and also I can’t be bothered.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Congratulations to the very first Mr. and Mrs. Casserole!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Back home, they get busy right away with certain legacy tasks.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Soon after, Rebecca takes a taxi across town to get started on alchemy. She picks up a few basic ingredients at Aleister’s so she can start a garden.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

For some reason, she chooses to go to Varg’s Tavern first (which is slightly farther away), then take LLAMA a few feet back to Aleister’s. Her first trip in LLAMA doesn’t go very well.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Not only does she pass out when she gets home, she also pees herself. I think maybe I need to delete those LLAMA machines.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The next morning, Rebecca starts her little alchemy garden, accompanied by Humberto the graduation gnome.

Later that day, she starts feeling a bit queasy.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“What, did you eat too many mandrakes or something?”
“I don’t think you can eat those. And you’re the one who keeps making himself sick with raw herbs. I don’t know what’s causing this--uuuugh.”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The wave of nausea passes, and Rebecca heads back to Aleister’s to study some alchemy recipes.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

It’s there that she figures out the cause of her nausea. I know, we're all shocked.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She rushes home to tell Kumquat, who gives her the obligatory thumbs up. (He’s genuinely excited, though, I promise.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Life settles into a little bit of a routine for the Casseroles. Kumquat’s job still doesn’t start for a couple days, for some unknowable reason, so he pretty much just plays video games and keeps the little house clean. Rebecca works to satisfy her cravings, tends her garden, and studies alchemy.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

And plays in the sprinkler. She’s so cute with her little pregnant belly!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The Casseroles get invited to parties around Sunset Valley almost every night. This particular party makes me realize that I don’t think I’ve ever seen the population of Sunset Valley in their swimsuits. It’s not like I’ve ever thought to myself, “Hey, I wonder what Vita Alto looks like in in a one-piece.” And now...I know what Vita Alto looks like in a one-piece.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I failed to document Rebecca going into labor and all of that. The next screenshot I have is this one of Rebecca leaving the hospital. So yeah, she gave birth and stuff. To a boy! And his name is Raisin. Welcome to the world, Raisin Casserole. :D

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

One of Rebecca’s Rebel streaks comes out after the birth. All of a sudden she can’t put down her megaphone and just wants to scare her husband with it.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Oh, and rant about Evil. This would be fine if she hadn’t just given birth to an Evil baby. :o

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Eventually she calms down and gets back to elixir-making.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

With slimy results.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

One reluctant kiss from Kumquat and she’s back to normal. Not that anything is really normal around here. Poor Rebecca had no idea what she was signing up for.

This legacy seems so much fun, and I just love the Casserole as a last name. Can't wait to see what Raisin will be up to.

Chapter 4 - Zero to Toddler

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat finally goes to his first day of work as a Video Game Developer, and he wears...an outfit.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Not much else happens until little Raisin’s birthday.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Aww, he looks just like his daddy! Partly because I gave him the exact same hairstyle just for funsies. Raisin is Evil and Clumsy, and he likes hip hop, dim sum, and the color orange.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

He begins his quest toward being a total Kumquat mini-me by learning to stay vertical.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I have a lot of pictures of Raisin as a toddler. Sorry.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

But the cheeks! Look at the cheeks!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Rebecca is still having a rough time with traveling via LLAMA, for some reason. This time she got turned into the Tragic Clown upon arrival. Honey, you realize you don’t need to travel that way, right?? You can just take a taxi like a normal person!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Oh yeah, she’s also pregnant again.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Fast forward and the baby’s already coming!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Again, let's all just celebrate my amazing ability to not take helpful screenshots of any important events. Anyhoo, it’s a girl this time. Welcome to the world, Tuna Casserole, and Rebecca, do you need to sit down or something?

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

The adventures of Rebecca continue when she has a wish to eat a magic jelly bean, and then three magic jelly beans, and then ten. I go ahead and buy her her own magic jelly bean bush so she doesn’t have to travel to Aleister’s to get her fix. I don’t know why she craves these things. I really don’t.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Anyway, it’s already Tuna’s birthday! Wow, from zero to toddler in just five screenshots.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Tuna takes after her mother for sure. Her traits are Disciplined and Clumsy, and she likes some things that I failed to write down. *sigh*

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Aaand we’re back to the jelly bean cravings. Rebecca, I swear, one of these days you’re going to get yourself killed by those things.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

One more mini-me shot before the cutest dried fruit there ever was ages up to a child.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Oh, and before I can even get Raisin to a mirror for his makeover, Kumquat ages up to adult. Amazingly, he does not have a midlife crisis. (I imagine that will come later….)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Here’s Kumquat Raisin, sporting his exciting new Hot Headed trait. This boy just has a delightful personality, doesn't he? (He's already Evil, in case you forgot.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Tuna, meanwhile, continues to be a cute little (green) bean and learn her toddler skills from her parents.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Raisin starts school and gets his own bed and starts constantly having the “Fiendishly Delighted” moodlet because this house is always a mess and his parents are always stressed about it.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

And of course, he takes time to bond with his baby sister.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I feel like I can relate to this face. Does anyone else feel like they just sort of go through life feeling like their lollipop has been stolen?

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Okay, this chapter was basically all toddler spam. Ah well. Everyone in this family is all matchy-matchy and it’s super cute, okay?

Chapter 5 - The Horses are Coming

Welcome back to the Casserole household, where everything is fine and normal.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Here’s the story behind this screenshot. Moments before, I was zoomed in on the bedroom where Rebecca was sleeping when this wild horse came galloping THROUGH the bedroom right in front of my face. I audibly screeched in real life. It scared the living daylights out of me. I have no idea where the horse came from or how it managed to glitch through the entire Casserole house on its way to the street, but clearly it was not happy to find Rebecca snoozing away in there. The horses are coming for you, Rebecca. Beware!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Speaking of wild animals, I think this was a stray dog that visited the lot one day (or else he belonged to a townie family - I don’t remember). I just thought he looked really funny. Poor guy.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Anyway! Raisin is doing pretty well in school and starting to make friends. The townies have been very busy popping out kids, including the Keatons, who went beyond the start-of-the-game baby and had at least two more. And also like five dogs.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat is usually the one to attend parties around town. He actually wears the correct outfit for this one - and becomes good friends with Blair Wainwright, one of the only females to show up and hang out with a bunch of middle-aged men.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

This isn’t the first time he’s run into Blair. He met her a few nights ago outside the consignment shop, and they hit it off well. Why am I mentioning this? No reason, really.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Rebecca holds down the home front and spends time with her kids.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She’s a very attentive and loving mother.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Except when she gets distracted by her passionate love for magic jelly beans.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She’s on a steady diet of magic jelly beans these days, thanks to her own wishes. Nausea? Blueness? Exhaustion? Itchiness? None of it matters. She just wants to find out what adventure the next jelly bean holds.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

If only she’d known about the one particular adventure that would come for her in the end. Rebecca’s last jelly bean drains her hunger bar so severely that she collapses, still in her blue state.

Somehow she turns back to normal when the Grim Reaper arrives.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Grim: “FINALLY! I’ve been waiting DAYS for you to finally kick the bucket.”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“I can’t reap you while you're standing up, though. Could you go back and lie down over there?”
“Oh, sure! Like this?”
“Perfect. Thank you.”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

And so the first spouse of generation one meets her magical candy-flavored end. It was inevitable, really. Anyone who gets addicted to those magic jelly beans just doesn’t stand a chance in the long run. Rebecca, you were absolutely lovely. Rest in peace. I hope there’s plenty of good, harmless candy for you in Sim heaven.

Kumquat and Raisin are inside when Rebecca dies. They do come out to mourn, and...I swear they’re actually sad about it.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Hey Raisin, did you hear that your mother just died? From eating jelly beans!”
“I know! Crazy!”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

See? They’re sad.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Rebecca’s alchemy garden is dug up, smoothed over, and replaced with a little flower garden where she can be laid to rest.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat is dutifully heartbroken over the loss of his wife. He’s now a single dad to two young children, and this rapidly-expanding cottage feels too big for just the three of them.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

He does what he can.

“Tuna, can you say ‘death and suffering’?”
“Deff an’ suffwing.”
“Very good, very good.”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Then he ventures out into town, seeking comfort from friends. He runs into Blair Wainwright outside the movie theater.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

And has a good cry on her shoulder.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair kindly cheers him up with a few funny faces and plenty of conversation about positive things. They spend the whole afternoon together and, although Kumquat is still sad, they become best friends and he's cheered up significantly.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

They even decide to take a tour of the movie theatre’s backstage areas. Things develop. A mournful Kumquat finally has a little bit of a bounce in his step.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“So Blair, I know we don’t know each other that well yet, but I could really use some help raising my two kids. Would you like to move in? You can abandon all your current ambitions in favor of a randomized one!”
“Ooh, sounds exciting!”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair comes home with Kumquat and faces her new life with a brave, if bewildered, face.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Here’s Blair after a bit of a makeover. I’ve never played Blair before, but so far, aside from the fact that she’s Rebecca’s replacement, I like her. Her traits are Loner, Good, Genius, Hopeless Romantic, and Childish. (Oops, she’s a lot like Rebecca. I swear I didn’t do that on purpose.) She likes indie music, fish and chips, and the color pink, and her Lifetime Wish is International Super Spy. Surprise, Blair, that dream is going in the trash!

Please tell me you have the link to Raisin's toddler hair somewhere, I need it in my game!
RIP Rebecca, if there only was a sims rehab for magic jelly beans addiction... Hopefully Blair will be able to replace her. (And even bring the Steel lips into the household, I feel like it's a must)

Raisin's hair was adapted from a store hair that was only available for young adults/adults/elders. Here's the link to the for-all-ages-and-genders version (I hope it's okay to link this here): Raisin's hair. (And as a side note, this particular tumblr is great for all things Maxis Match cc.)

Oh my gosh, magic jelly bean rehab would be hilarious. I am SO excited for Blair's teeny little lips to join the family genetics. :P

Chapter 6 - Recipe for Disaster

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Hi, Sunset Valley Police Department? This is Officer Wainwright. So like, I quit. It’s my time to ride off into the sunset. Literally. Thanks for everything, and please hold my last paycheck because earning money from my former career is against the rules of the Random Legacy Challenge.”

Our former cop is now a full-time equestrian, and for that, we need a horse.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair takes a taxi up the hill to the equestrian center at Summer Hill Springs and picks out a new best friend. Everyone, this is Booty. The game gave her that name and I am not changing it.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat’s pretty fired up about Booty. :D He starts imitating her horsiness before she even sets hoof on the lot for the first time.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat’s pretty fired up in general these days. Now that the mourning period for his first wife is over, he’s ready to get down and dirty with his new lady. They share a rather sudden first kiss in the kitchen that night (I guess technically they woohooed before they kissed for the first time...).

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Things aren’t exactly official between these two yet - there’s no hurry. But out of all the townie ladies Kumquat met in his first days in Sunset Valley, Blair is clearly his top choice.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She seems to like him a lot, too. Awww.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Anyway, back to Booty.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

You’re going to be fine, Blair. Just take it slow and think of all the money you’ll earn winning races one day.

“I don’t think I ever want to go faster than this. Ever.”

(I know the feeling. I took horseback riding lessons when I was about 10. I loved walking, but trotting was the most terrifying thing I’d ever experienced, and I straight up fell off the first time the horse broke into a canter. That was my last lesson because I was a wimp and I’m still a wimp to this day. The end.)

Can we all just admire Blair’s posture here for a second? She’s a natural!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Well, it’s going to be a while before Blair and Booty start bringing in the funds. In the meantime, it’s Raisin’s birthday.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Okay, he’s less of a mini-Kumquat than I thought. Even though I still have to think about who's who in every screenshot of these two.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I decide to move away from the hairstyle he’s had all his life so far and give him something different. It’s hard enough telling him apart from his father. Raisin rolls the Virtuoso trait for his birthday, adding on to Evil, Clumsy, and Hot headed.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

He has about ten seconds to be all cute with his baby sister before she has her birthday.

One last shot of baby Tuna being a baby.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

You look great, Tuna! I love the enthusiasm!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Oh, guess what? It’s also Blair’s birthday. I didn’t even realize that. Sorry, Blair.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Here’s Tuna after a quick makeover. She’s now Disciplined, Clumsy, and Lucky.

Now that Raisin is a teenager, he is free to let loose on his father and start implying that his mother is a llama.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“How dare you insult my mother, son!”
“Well, you replaced my mother on the same day she died! I have to get this anger out somehow!”
“But insulting my mother?!”
“Apparently!”

Oh dear. These two do not get along well. Kumquat is Insane, Raisin is Evil...this is pretty much a recipe for disaster. (In multiple senses of the word. What kind of moron would put kumquats and raisins together? Wait...maybe that would taste good.)

7 - Lollipop Acquisition Opportunities

Raisin’s first friend at school was Shonda Ursine. She seems to really like Raisin, flirting with him any chance she gets.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Buuut they also don’t get along. Being Evil and Hot-Headed means that Raisin doesn’t really get along with anyone.

Although she just moved in the other day, Blair discovers that her life is changing once again. She’s pregnant!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She can’t do much equestrian stuff while she’s got a bun in the oven, so she makes do with some horsey cuddles instead.

Blair also goes to visit her parents for the first time since joining the household. They live just around the corner, in easy walking distance. She eagerly shares the news of her pregnancy with them, and both future grandparents are thrilled.

Blair ends up staying over at the Wainwrights until the wee hours of the morning, just chatting with her parents. About what, I don’t think I want to know. :o

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Upon returning home around 2 or 3 a.m., Blair finds another family member floating around. She immediately wonders what the ghost of her husband’s ex will think if she discovers Blair is pregnant.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I guess I shouldn’t have worried. Blair and Rebecca have a lot in common in terms of traits, not to mention the experience of being married to Kumquat Casserole. Rebecca is very sweet to Blair and even seems excited that she’s having Kumquat’s child. I hope these two will remain friends - that would certainly be a wholesome plot twist. (I don’t know what I expected. Kumquat is the difficult one in this story. Blair and Rebecca are both total sweethearts.)

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair goes off to bed and Rebecca falls asleep on the couch, much to the excitement of her children the next morning.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair’s pregnancy goes smoothly, probably because she couldn’t possibly have spent it on the back of a horse like she wanted to. Instead, she prepares for motherhood by playing with the dollhouse. It’s good to get some practice in.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

She’s just taking a relaxing third-trimester bath when the contractions hit. I’ve never had a Sim go into labor while naked before. It’s very exciting.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair manages to put some clothes on and get to the hospital. A few hours later, she walks out those doors holding her new daughter, Squash.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Kumquat seems a bit bewildered by the new baby. I suspect two kids would have been enough for him. But hey! It’s a Random Legacy Challenge, which means it doesn’t matter what you want, Kumquat.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Raisin is excited for more lollipop acquisition opportunities, of course.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

But surprisingly, he turns out to be a very caring and responsible half-brother, aside from the occasional candy theft. He’s often the first one to the crib when little Squash needs something.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Blair gets back to her riding now that the baby is born.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

And at long last, she reaches whatever level of the skill it is that introduces improved riding posture. No more panicked flailing here!

Now that the family is growing, Kumquat realizes it might be time to take a necessary step.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“I know we just met, like, five days ago or whatever, but you did just have my child. Maybe we should...you know, go steady?”
“Sounds good to me.”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

“Maybe we should just get married while we’re at it.”

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Wedding plans begin immediately, but first, it’s Squash’s birthday!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Well isn’t she just the cutest lil peanut you ever did see. Amazingly, Squash managed to inherit both her hair color and eye color from her grandparents - Susan Wainwright had that bright highlight-y red hair before she became an elder, and I’m pretty sure those dark blue eyes are Boyd’s. Squash here is an Artistic Slob, and she likes...the color blue. I once again forgot to make note of her other favorites. I gotta get better at that.
