Hello All!
I am back on the forum after a long hiatus. After many years of not touching the Sims series after being thoroughly disappointed by the Sims 4, quarantine drove me back into the all-consuming but loving arms of Sims 3! After a year of re-learning the game and resurrecting my favorite Legacy family, I have decided to dip my toes into the dynasty portion of this forum.
I am not the player I was when I was 12, back then, I was a very simple simmer and did not realize or understand certain aspects of the game that other older players noticed. For example, the genetics! My goodness, I was once perfectly content with the default EA "pudding face" because I thought, "as long as my Sims are pretty, why does it matter?"
Yeah...my Lake Legacy nipped that in the bud, but the Lakes are a story for another time
I am getting off topic.
After re-reading some old stories here on this forum, (a special shout-out to the works of hazelnut and Rhoxi), I decided to attempt a dynasty. I have always loved the different life states that came with Supernatural, so I was drawn to the 7 Generation Life States Dynasty. But, I know myself; I am a little too attached to testingcheatsenabled.... to my shame.
Another habit of the impatient 12 year old simmer
So I decided to compromise with myself: dynasty style play with (most) of the rules, a smaller dose of my "little helps," and a focus on learning how to fulfill requirements. I have poured my energy into learning how dynasties work and perhaps maturing as a player.
And if I can keep original townie genetics alive, then boo-yah baby!!
Settings: Life Span at 80 days for sims.
Baby: 2
Toddler: 5
Child: 10
Teen: 12
YA: 21
Adult: 28
Elder: 2
Cats and Dogs are 35 days each for adulthood. I uninstalled Seasons because I blame it for an Error 12 in a previous attempt, and I disabled ITF because of opportunities. I have all of the other expansion packs and most of the stuff packs. Lunar Phase is set to 3rd Quarter. Population Settings have the following enabled: Vampires, Werewolves, Fairies, Witches, Celebrities (household included).Without further ado...let us meet the cast:

Ellaria Collins really should be named Ellaria Lake. Buuuut apparently when I had her parents marry in a previous Baby Boomer Challenge, I accidentally had her father, Christopher Collins of Isla Paradiso, do most of the "asking." Hence, the children had his name instead the surname of their mother, Celestina Lake. After awhile, I decided that Ellaria Collins had a nice ring to it, and it remained. Yes, Ellaria is named after a Game of Thrones/ASOIAF character portrayed by Indira Varma, I like the name.

Ellaria is the 10th born child of my BBC, and one of the very few who was born with magical ability. She has many pretty sisters, and in fact, it was this challenge (combined with my Lake Legacy) that made me truly appreciate townie genetics. Ellaria was chosen because she was a mix of her parents, instead of being a copy of one or the other.
Celestina Lake, descendant of many, MANY Monte Vista townies:

And Christopher Collins of Isla Paradiso. I opened that town just to save him to the Sim Bin, He was chosen for his delightful genetics:

Since the focus of that challenge was: woohoo, fill requirements, age 'em up, kick 'em out, I do not consider Ellaria to have a "set personality" or "canon traits." Other than her magical ability, LTW, and her wardrobe.
For the purposes of this challenge, the traits are supposed to be randomized. UGH.....I cannot stand randomized traits they give me anxiety and spit in the face of my organizer/planner personality! So, I decided to break this rule for my founder. I chose her traits:
Family Oriented, Supernatural Fan, Workaholic, Ambitious, Genius, and eventually Schmoozer due to a degree in Science and Medicine.Reminder, this is not a HOF attempt, this is me learning how to fulfill dynasty requirements and strategize.
Ellaria was placed in the delightfully supernatural town of Moonlight Falls upon the 50x50 lot at 126 Wood Street. She was joined by three individuals, two of which share the same name, cause I am a silly goose
Brida Lake is a daughter of my long-term Lake Legacy, a game that spanned 11 generations between Sunset Valley and Monte Vista. She was not my main heir, but a cousin that was raised in the family home. She had two mothers who went into the future to create her at the DNA hospital. She wound up a carbon copy of her one mother, Bridgette. But she inherited the fashion sense of her other mother, Giada. She also inherited her vampirism from her mother Bridgette.

Bridgette + Giada = Brida. Get it?
Also another reference to a television show that was based off a book series, see if you can figure out which one!
Why include Brida? Well, she has a folder in my household library because she has mastered many skills, has several lifetime happiness awards and spare points, her LTW is complete, and her inventory includes two World Adventures chests with goodies. Now, these goodies are very small in number, necessitating the need to hunt, fish, gather, and garden. And for Ellaria to supermax alchemy and magic. Brida is supposed to be a dynasty helper, not a nuke. Her traits are:
Photographer's Eye, Savvy Sculptor, Family Oriented, Ambitious, Artistic, and Dramatic (Uni Degree).
The other Brida is the kitty!

Also the Samoyed good-boi who's eyes were recolored red....after I decided to name him Ghost. Sense a theme yet?

Both pets have the genius and hunter traits and specialize in maintaining the alchemy supply.
Ellaria and Brida and the pets were on their empty lot for a solid 3 in-game weeks before I started pulling in new members. Endless skilling and collecting. I am the type of player who prefers to do as much career and skill "housekeeping" before inviting more sims into my care. That way, the Sims I already have are self-sufficient and their needs and manageable. Meaning, Ellaria can complete the bear's share of her requirements then marry Oberon Summerdream and produce my next heir.
Hello Oberon:

And you can bet your bottom simoleon I gave him a new haircut. His hair color was unseen in his children, but ironically came back in the 3rd generation.
A pretty wedding at the Arboretum...

Followed by the completion of Ellaria's requirements. I actually managed to use the telescope and complete the Celestial Explorer challenge, something I almost never do!

I decided to do wedding sculptures for all of my heirs. Their sculpture will be colored with their favorite colors, hence why it may not always match the room theme. Ellaria's museum is based off the merlot and black color presets for the witch themed items from Supernatural. Sculptures and paintings created by Brida the Friendly Coral Vampire.
Brida's life is not all work and no play.....

Look at THAT face! I hope her save file never experiences an error 12
Speaking of heirs, the active heir has a designated bedroom on the top floor of the dynasty house. Each generation, the room is remodeled to match the current heir. This is where the heir and spouse sleep after they reach young adulthood. Unfortunately, I cannot find the picture for Ellaria's room
What about the previous heir? Where do they sleep? The go to their retirement dormitory of course!
Here is Ellaria:

Everything the previous heir needs to autonomously fill their needs. Thank you Orange Iguana for your brilliant and inspired idea!
This concludes generation one. Generation two has already been completed and generation three is hot on their heels. Brida the Kitty and Ghost remain in the home and have received two young again potions each.
A look at the dynasty house, building is not my strong point, my artistic medium is baking
