Best Moodlets and Their Sources
« on: January 08, 2011, 04:56:20 PM »
I wanted to start this thread because of a debate in another thread about the beautiful vista moodlet's usefulness. I'm asing 2 questions in this thread:
1) do you think that the beautiful vista moodlet is good or not and why?
2) what is the single most useful moodlet in your opinion(don't just look at the boost also consider how easy it is to get this moodlet). (also, although we all know ducky time will be the clear winner becuase of its epic mood boost, I have decided to disqualify it from this "vote" on umm..... medical grounds ??? :)

Beautiful Vista is great for a hermit who writes or paints all day on that lot. Once you leave the lot, that nice moodlet is gone. So, that would not be my choice. I'd say for all around usefulness — something that carries over with you all around town, it's hard to beat the combo of the +30 Well Rested and +50 Having a Blast moodlets. My stock strategy for a virgin challenge Sim is to immediately put them to bed on the nicest bed and quickly follow it up with some type of fun activity. Then the work at hand can begin in earnest.

Beside this combo Metro mentioned, I always love seeing +100 modlet from spa, and with WA, good nectar is excellent boost (I almost never sell nectar I found raiding tombs). Combine it with amazing or divine meal and it is even better.
Having a maid or neat Sim to do laundry is also great and easy to get, and lasts for a long time.
I don't think duck time is so great, it takes a lot of time (more than shower) and it lasts only for 4 hours.
Beautifully decorated - if I have sculptor, painter or collector and Sim who spent a lot of time on lot. And of course beautiful vista. Why would it be useless?

ahh another simmer denying the epicness of ducky time. I mean it's almost as good as the tired moodlet :).
Then again maybe not. anyone seeing this might be thinking what's so good about tired? well, you get to use moodlet manager to raise the energy bar up to full! :o

For pure whimsy, it's hard to beat duck time.  I mean, a good mood just for bathing with a rubber duckie?  Sometimes I wish real life was more like Sims - it would be nice to think a bath with the duck would cure what ails me.  But I'd have to say my favourite moodlet is the +75 divine meal from Ambrosia that lasts for a whole week.

I usually choose a lot with the beautiful vista moodlet if my Sim is going to be staying on the lot for most of his/her day. I think it's great.

I'd say my favourite positive moodlet is from going to the day spa and getting one of the packages. The most expensive package gives your Sim a 7 day mood boost. I'm not sure of the number, but if it's not +100, it's close.

I think the best moodlet would be the "Stylin" moodlet. It is permanent and is quite useful when you need that extra boost for Job Performance. My other one (since I'm not really sure which one is the best) is the Feeling Lucky moodlet obtained randomly by a lucky Sim. It last for a day (which is a long time for Moodlet standards) and can give you quite a boost (which is why I like lucky Sims).

On the note of the good vista moodlet, does anyone know which properties give it, and how much?
I usually just go to Sun Song Avenue, but I know there's others.

finally someone else who likes beautiful vista. I think it's amazing for any sim as you spend so much time at home it is sure to contribute to your LTH points loads in the long run. As for what makes a lot have beautiful vista, I think it is just in some lots and not in others already. personally I just walked around lots until I found one with the +30 boost and moved there. I also love the spa packages as they are relatively cheap in my opinion and give a massive boost. My only problem with them is that I find myself becoming reliant on the mood boost they give and when it runs out you are in a terrible mood until you go to the day spa again.

MasterSiwel, I love the stylin moodlet, but why the Lucky moodlet? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it give just +5 occasonally? factor in the fact that you have to use one of your trait slots for the lucky trait and I think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

I think that it stacks up and the fact that it last longer then most moodlets. The moodlets will stack up, like if you have your Sim brush their teeth, gussy up and have some pizza and have sparkly clean... Yeah it eventually stacks up. And the fact that it lasts all day makes it more worth it.

It's got to be tranquil for me, especially when achieved by having a neurotic sim freak out. It eliminates stress and keeps it away for eight hours.

So a quick freak out before work + work hard option + multitasker LTR = a promotion every day. It's fantastic.

I alsi have a soft spot for the creeped out moodlet, just because I like the icon  ;D

What are in your opinion the best objects who gives the best moodlets?
I am talking about the things like the 5 Star Fridge, the fox and nectar that contains both lifefruit and flamefruit.
Of course, Ambrosia counts to.
Also I was thinking about the Spa, which comes as an option once your sims are rich and the best dried food.

So what am I missing here?

Decoration. If your sim walks into a room he'll get a great mood boost.

Leto, if you don't mind I'm going to lump this into the other thread started yesterday on best moodlets since it's pretty much the same info. I'll rename the thread to Best Moodlets and Their Sources to cover all bases.
