Frustrated with the Paparazzi and Being Celebrities - Somethings that might help

I actually don't find being a celebrity that diffictult, once I found the dispel rumor option anyway, a 3 day negative moodlet isn't so bad if it only ends up lasting about a day.  Plus I use sorrow eliminators to reduce the numeric value of the negative moodlet.  Then again, I've never played without Late Nite, so I never have that "good old days feeling" for when I didn't have to deal with it.

I don't find celebrity status all that difficult to deal with, either.  And I do like how you can't really control what others think of you in this fashion.  I just don't think it's very realistic in how quickly it grows.  One of the sims I'm playing now has been going about a week in-game so far...and is half way between 4 and 5 stars.  And that's just from career interactions.  No celebrity opportunities.

OK, yeah that's true, even I will admit it would be nice if it were a lot harder to earn at least the first star.

I ignore the paparazzi, mostly. If they want to snap photos, go right ahead. I rarely get the Falsely Accused moodlet, and it doesn't bother me since I keep my hermit family home usually.

No, what's annoying is who becomes paparazzi.

My 3rd gen in my Lineage married a Chinese woman (he met her when they were both children, and he was on vacation). I got a note one day that her father died.

Next day, I looked in her family tree. Not only is her father alive, he now resides in SV as a paparazzi.

I totally agree! In my dynasty my immortals are all between 3-4 stars without doing any celeb ops and one day my latest immortal-to-be (3 stars) gets married to a 3 star celeb and poof! they become 5 stars! Seriously I wish there was a way to lose the stars (in real life some celebrities just fade off after all).

Hi Simmers, One thing I found out was not to use  gossip in conversations. When I did, the rumors would fly.  I couldn't figure out why my sims had to confess or apologize to other sims. I have a household with 5 five-star celebs, and I would'nt have just 1 with rumors, I'd have 2 or 3 at a time.  Since I quit using any gossip options I seldom get them.  I play 5 neighborhoods and this has worked in every one. If you have public woohoo or do other crazy things you can still get them, thats where the moodlet manager comes in handy. Oh yes, if you have celebs, a secure gate is a must.      Happy Simming

The other day was annoying for me.  My sim ended up gaining a few stars because of opportunities that raise relationships with sims at a rabbit hole, and some turned out to be celebs.  My sim goes on vacation, and while taking a shower, a paparazzi barges in and starts taking pictures....of my sim in the shower.  Of course, this ruined the shower and gave him the embarrassed moodlet.

This is very odd.  My Sim, Forest Dreamweaver, is participating in the current writing challenge.  He lives in Bridgeport and accidentally got two celebrity stars.  However, the paparazzi do not hang around his apartment, nor do they follow him when he visits the Consignment Shop or the library.  I like it, but I don't know why it's happening.

Maybe the paparazzi are too busy stalking the higher celebrities; Bridgeport does have a lot of 4-stars and 5-stars. If you go on a normal neighborhood, though, if your sim gets  2.5-stars, he/she's already the most famous person in town.

Indeed! Ziyi's mother and brother died properly, though.

I need to get back to that file and see if Ziyi's father is still banging around.

Probably, as her grandfather in law still coaches toddlers, though he died the same day as her grandmother in law.

Well, there you go! Make the paparazzi vampires and send them out in the sun!

That is such an awesome idea, I am going to do it right now, Just to laugh at the buggers!!

You could always shift-click and delete the paparazzi when they show up.  I found that useful for paparazzi (and the repo man ). 

The idea of Vampires is good, become a vampire and use the paparazzi as dinner! 

I'm not a big fan of them, especially when they come onto you're lot.  But I don't mind opportunities, you have a choice to keep or get rid of them.

I use the cheat to take them back into CAS and change their traits to ones like Hates Outdoors, Couch Potato,Shy and Absent Minded. It doesn't stop them from coming around and taking pictures and notes but atleast I know they're unhappy while doing it and they don't seem to stay as long.

I had my 5-star marry a paparazzi and then he got a taste of his own medecine! The others followed him and left my sim alone!
