Skiillo's Household Skills Project V2 - Dec 18
« on: January 10, 2021, 04:20:41 PM »
Welcome to the Version Two of Skiillo's Household Skills Project. If you're wondering why it's the 2nd version, that's because I failed the previous attempt. Beatrice, the Gen 2 heir, gained a point in a forbidden skill (logic) while I was busy with Grim. Anyway, that only ended the project a little early but the end was inevitable. Beatrice's firefighter career was too glitched, most emergencies were canceled before she could respond to them, the few emergencies she managed to respond to were so much bugged with sim disappearing or houses closing and not letting Beatrice enter. And as if all that wasn't enough, the completed emergencies stopped giving her work experience and the career was stuck at level 9. It was a relief when that attempt was over, I don't know how much longer I was going to endure Beatrice's career.

Despite that, playing the challenge was a lot of fun, so I'm giving it another chance. And because I'm a masochist and I want to get rid of this career early on, I'm starting with the Firefighter Career and the Handiness skill in the first house. Cooper Skiillo, Gen 3 heir and Beatrice's son will be the founder of this new attempt. Wish me luck.

House 1: Handiness

This new attempt will be carried out by the Skiillo family again, Cooper was the third gen heir in my previous project, son of Beatrice Skiillo and Twinbrook’s social worker Al Lyffe.

Cooper arrived in Riverview to accomplish what his mother couldn’t, being a Firefighter Super Hero. His traits are Brave, Daredevil, Handy, Neurotic, Technophobe to help with his Lifetime Wish and the skill of this house.

He spent the first day in the library reading about handiness and then made good use of the 1000 simoleons that he started the challenge with, buying and reselling at the consignment store.

At the end of the day he used the fire station’s office as his bedroom.

The rest of the days passed in a breeze, Cooper began to make good progress in his career, luckily this time this profession worked much better, although he had some emergencies canceled as is customary with this career, it’s nothing comparable to the number of times that happened to Beatrice in the previous attempt.

The only negative for now is that the game’s giving more building’s emergencies than fires in houses, so Cooper’s Lifetime Wish is comming slowly.

When he wasn’t dealing with emergencies, he was putting to good use his technophobe trait to sabotage the TV in the Fire Station.

But not everything was work for Cooper, he also had some fun with his coworker, or rather they had fun with him.

By the start of the third week, he upgraded everything in the Fire Station but needed one more to complete the Tinkerer challenge, so I sent him home when I remembered that the handiness skill allows to change the doorbell sound. What I didn’t remember is if it counted as upgrade or not, luckily it did. First challenge completed.

The next day, he had an opportunity to repair a laptop and with that he completed the Electrical challenge and maxed the skill. Now what Cooper needed was two more toilets to be clogged and a couple of lifetime points to buy the Inheritance reward, he already had Discount Dinner as his first one.

Regarding the search for a wife, I had a couple of npc in mind but my first option was the burglar Julie Singer. My strategy for meeting her was to send Cooper home to sleep a couple of times a week hopping she’d broke in his house but no such luck.

In the end all the effort was in vain, because the way Cooper met Julie was more natural. One day she was standing at the gym entrance doing nothing, I immediately sent Cooper there to meet her.

They hit it off and that same evening they had a date at the bistro.

Although it didn’t help with the npc situation, sending him home did help to complete the Plumber challenge when the toilet and the shower broke on the same night. Supermax completed.

By Friday of that same week, Cooper had almost all the requirements met, he only needed a couple of points to buy the Inheritance reward and with that money become the owner of the town diner. Luckily, while he was attending an emergency, a wish to save the life of the trapped sim appeared and gave him the needed points. So I bought the reward and sent him to buy Hogan’s Deep Fried Diner.

Before moving to his new house, I made him posse before his handiness certificate.

His career (almost done) and Lifetime Wish (4/30) are to be completed in the next house.

I haven't had too much luck with firefighters in Riverview - there are a lot of small houses that only seem to generate small fires, at least in my games.  Fingers crossed...

I like Julie's looks, she has small eyes that sort of suits her. She's a good sim to play even if she's always stealing candy from her child.

I didn't think of that when I chose Riverview, but now that you mention it it makes sense that Cooper's LTW is going slow, I think he's going to make it, although just in case I have a backup plan.

House 2: Athletic and Cooking – Part 1

Cooper crossed the street to his new house.

He wasted no time calling Julie and invited her to move in with him. I really like Julie's face, it’s unconventional but pleasant to look at.

For this house, as the title indicates, there will be two skills. I had first thought of using athletic only becuase it's necessary for Cooper's career and leaving cooking for the next house, but cooking is a pretty boring skill to me so I decided to merge the two into one house.
For this reason, Cooper will be in charge of supermaxing the cooking skill while Julie supermaxing athletic. She needs that skill for her career and Lifetime Wish, Master Thief.  She comes with that LTW being a burglar NPC.

They were both in the gym when Cooper reached the peak of his career.

Cooper had just started exercising when it happened, so I missed the opportunity to take the screenshot with the lifetime happiness points but here's the notification of maxing his career.

Cooper adult birthday catched up with him while he was maintaining the firetruck, I'm trying to make this a quick game as possible so there will be no birthday celebrations when they aren't needed.

The couple wasted no time and they looked for their first child. Cooper was thrilled.

The first baby of this generation! His name is Atuel and he's excitable and friendley, plus he inherited immune to fire from his father and burglar from his mother. The name Atuel is a river in my country (Argentina), I wanted to have a sort of name theme. Since they are in Riverview, the rivers theme seemed great to me but I didn't want the typical names like Thames or Nile.

The next day, Julie maxed the athletic skill although she's still far from supermaxing it.

Julie's evil but the only way in which she shows this trait is by stealing candy from her son, the rest of the time she is a sweetheart. I never mentioned her traits, she's unlucky, kleptomaniac, athletic and evil.

In the middle of this Julie aged to adult but I don't have a picture of it, what I do have is Atuel aging to toddler. Someone looks a lot like his mom.

Cooper, for his part, was busy saving life. I was worried for a time because he had few calls to rescue sims and too many of buildings emergencies.

Anyway he was presented with the key to the city.

Going back to Julie, she is expecting her second child.

It was another boy, for now I'm letting the game choose the gender. His name is Iguazú, continuing with the river theme. He's heavy sleeper and good, no hidden traits for him.

Cooper has the wish to marry Julie locked on from the first day but I was waiting for Julie to wish it too. She rolled it immediately after the birth of Iguazú.

Now that she's a married woman with two kids, nothing is stopping Julie from joining the Riverview criminals anymore. I waited until the marriage and the births to avoid the eternals leaves from work.

In her spare time, she contributes to the family funds by stealing cars.

Iguazú aged to toddler, he's pretty much his father with his mother coloring.

For a couple of days, they were both toddlers and played together.

Until Atuel had to age to child. He added athletic to his traits.

For a while the house was quite quiet, the only important thing to note is that Cooper maxed the athletic skill.

A couple of days later, Iguazú joined his brother in childhood, his new trait is neat. (Doing this update I realize that I took the same screenshot of the two of them holding the cake right after their birthdays.  ::))

To finish this chapter, I leave you with the kids enjoying their childhood.

Just read up on this challenge and it seems interesting! Can you use the tabcast or is it too cheaty? Just curious. Atuel and Iguazú are super cute. I like the name theming you are going with.

I don't think it's against the rules and I plan to use it in the future, but right now is more of a handicap since the sims could learn a skill that is not unlocked yet and then bye bye to this attempt.
At first I thought of using a different name theming per town but I like this one a lot so I'll continue with it and maybe add other natural landscapes like lakes and mountains.
Thank you for reading!

House 2: Athletic and Cooking – Part 2

Cooper spent time with his sons while his wife was training.

I don’t know which of the boys rigged the shower with dye but Julie was the one who fell into the prank.

Atuel aged to teen, his new trait is Ambitious. I really like his face, I wish to have planned things differently since I would have liked him to be the heir, but I designated Iguazú from birth and I assigned traits and careers accordingly.

From now on he will be in charge of fixing and upgrading the house. I’m grooming him for the military career.

Meanwhile, Iguazú shared the kitchen with his father, I see a lot of cooking in his future.

That same afternoon he sold the cakes he made in the morning. He's the most successful kid I ever had at a bake sale. Normally, I sell one cookie if I am very lucky.

First and only arrest that Julie had, she breezed through her career.

She was also the first to supermax a skill in this house.

Cooper didn’t want to be less than his wife, so a few days later he supermaxed cooking. He never wished to max the skill, but he did want to know all the recipes.

Sadly, it was time for both of them to become elders. Cooper aged first and Julie followed him two days later. They should have been the same age, but her first pregnancy made Julie add two days to her life.

Atuel was a pretty good big brother, although I question his choices in reading. I don’t think a pregnancy book is what Iguazú really want to hear about.

Prom night arrived. Atuel was pronounced King and came home with a romantic interest named Natasha, who we’ll never see in person.

The same night Iguazú aged to teen and gained the Natural Cook trait.

In her old age, Julie became a little more of pranker, she was constantly scaring Cooper.

This happened autonomously, and it always ended with them being romantic in some way or another. I loved them because of these interactions, they were a really cute couple and more in their old age.

The boys only were both teens for a couple of days, this is the only screenshot that I have of them together.

This is because I aged Atuel to young adult as soon as he got an A in school. According to the rules, I can early age the sims using the cake only once in their lifetime.

His final trait is Workaholic to add to Excitable, Friendly, Athletic and Ambitious. His Lifetime Wish is Become an Astronaut. He immediately signed for the military career.

A couple of days later it was his graduation where his classmates voted him Most Likely to Fulfill Their Lifetime Wish.

In his old age, Cooper began to have more emergencies to rescue sims. I was looking forward to that because I was beginning to worry that the man wouldn’t be able to complete his ltw.

In the previous chapter there was another ceremony that I said was the delivery of the key, obviously I was wrong. It must have been another award because this is the real one.

The mayor handed him the key to the city.

I think the next update will be the end of this house, which I have already finished playing.

House 2: Athletic and Cooking – Part 3

Iguazú spent his free time in the library reading about cooking, he's so dedicated to his skill that he didn't seem to be aware of what is going on around him. To clarify, the one who lost the fight wasn't Atuel, if you're wondering.

Speaking of Atuel, he reached level 10 on the athletic skill. He didn't have the wish to max it which seemed to be the norm for this family.

He also had a chat with his mother about the rumors of her association with the town mafia. Julie assured him that she was just an old school thief and that when she reaches the top of her career she will return the lost glory to the thieves guild.
He was oddly okay with that.

Donating money to undermine different charities was one way of restoring that glory, I suppose.

Her youngest son liked to undermine her undermining, donating money to the same charities. The sims in Riverview thought he was an angel.
Iguazú is the first sim in a long time that had the chain of wishes to donate money, reaching the one that is worth 5k lifetime points.

And what about the other member of the house? Well, Cooper was living the good life.

At this stage of the challenge, the only requirement that he had yet to fulfill was his lifetime wish, so his time was divided between emergency calls, having fun in the backyard and being a lovely dopey partner to Julie. Both of them gained the eternally faithful reputation. So cute!

He also rescued his coworker from a fire in her own house... For some reason this seemed funny to me when I took this screenshot. (It was like 3 a.m. don't judge me.)

Julie maxed the cooking skill (she never wished for this either) and her career the same day, which means that she also completed her lifetime wish. I took the screenshot of her maxing the career but not of her completing her LTW of becoming a Master Thief. 😅

She went to sleep knowing that her job on the guild was done and retired the next day in the middle of her bedroom. Julie was past 80 at this point and wanted to spent her last days enjoying her family.

Who also reached level 10 of cooking without wishing for it was Iguazú.
He still doesn't care about his surroundings while he's absorbed in his books, this time the fight was happening in his house between his mother and his classmate.

Julie beat the teen and right away she scared him. This is why she retired, to enjoy her evil trait in her last days of life.

Then the game confused who was the good sim and who was the bad one because this was Iguazú reaction to his mother beating his schoolmate.

Later that night, Iguazú left behind his teen days. Something strange that happened with him was that he never has a Prom.
His last trait is schmoozer to add to heavy sleeper, good, neat and natural cook, his lifetime wish is Celebrated Five Star Cheff.
I gave him a beard to differentiate him from Cooper since he's almost a clone.

He was selected Valedictorian but his classmates didn't voted him for anything so he only got one ribbon at his graduation.

The family celebrated with a free meal at the bistro courtesy of Cooper's lifetime reward and Iguazú took advantage of the moment to join the culinary career.

The day Cooper turned 90 he still needed to rescue 4 more sims to complete his lifetime wish so I was ready for plan B, said plan consisted of changing it to Swimming in Cash, for that I had saved 70k lifetime points to buy Change Lifetime Wish and two Inheritance rewards, but then the game did something really cool.

The relief I felt was immense. Cooper had four houses to help, he rescued one sim in the first house and three on the second and completed his lifetime wish.

Sadly, a few days later, Grim came for Julie. She was playing gnubb with Iguazú when it happened.I was really sad to see her go, she was my favorite sim in this household. She accepted Grim's hand without problem. At 95 she had lived a long and fulfilled life.

The next day, Atuel maxed the Military Career, completing the house requirements. It was a bittersweet moment for him with the lost of her mother so fresh in his mind.

Iguazú had already bought his two unique rewards, Speedy Cleaner and the Motive Mobile and owned the EverFresh Delights Supermarket, so it was time for another move. First Cooper and Atuel moved to a little house in the other side of town.

And then Iguazú left his house childhood to move to a new world.

Leaving behind a small museum of his family achievements. His was a little lacking compared to his brother's.
