Architecture Career
« on: January 05, 2011, 09:26:26 PM »
I have joined the Architect career, and done three jobs. Two said terrible, and one said that I did a marginally good job. I fulfilled the requirements on all of them. What else does it take? ??? ???

There are some good tips in the guide, click here.  Other things contribute besides just getting what the requirements are.  Take a look at the guide and if you have any other questions let me (or the forum) know.  I know I read the article before I played that career and it helped a lot.  Good luck!

I really do not like the career (never got a perfect score), and the lifetime wish is almost impossible to fulfill in a Normal lifespan.

That's why there isn't a guide. According to Pam, the lifetime wish "bugged". I'd say it's hard to accomplish, but definitely not bugged.

It's immpossible to complete on Normal Lifespan, but you could manage it on Long or Epic.

If you're going to quote me, you better be able to show the actual quote.  I've only played the architecture career briefly when Ambitions first came out.

The quote about the Architect career being bugged was mentioned  in the Ambitions section of the Guide, so it was made by whoever wrote it. I just spotted it there when I was looking into attempting that career again and having re-read it I'm going to try something else, 'cos I'm a coward!

Right here: "The Home Design Hotshot Lifetime Wish is one of the longest in the Sims 3. It is decidedly bugged as 100 good reviews will likely take longer than a Sim lifetime on normal."

It's a ridiculous requirement. I wrote that. Unless otherwise stated, on the guide 95% of the time it would be me. They weren't thinking when they set it to 100. To fall in line with all other LTWs it would need be reduced to a third of its current level. So, I think it's "bugged".

Glad the guide helped the original poster  :D

Yeah, I didn't write that.  Why did you say I did?

The guide is very helpful, however, I disagree with the advice to add small decorative items to boost the score. I find this almost always  causes the Sim to complain that the room looks cluttered, even if I only put a couple of small things. Using the most expensive items  that fit within the budget works best. You may have to play around adding and removing items to fit it all in the budget  If they want an entertainment room, give them the best t.v. or stereo they can afford. For a reading room, a good chair and expensive bookcases. Good lighting, new wallcoverings, rugs, and adding some new windows to a room is effective too.  Often adding a useful item that isn't on the required list, like a chair to go with a desk, is helpful. Having money left over from the budget often gets an appreciative  comment.

What I find amusing is a Sim household that is filled up with all sorts of stuff and then they complain and say you cluttered up a room  ;)

What I don't like about this Career is that you are only ever assigned to do work for people and this involves many restrictions. Surely it would work better if you had a blank canvas, just like Build mode, and on empty lots simply design houses, add them to your portfolio and sell them to Sims who every once in a while might contact you to buy one.
