Random Selection HMLSIYW Dynasty: Cluster 3, Update 2 (3/14/21)

I've been enjoying this. When Sims just do what they want, it's sometimes entertaining, sometimes frustrating.

So true!!  It has been a consistent frustration watching my Sims get excessively close to leveling up a skill and then not working on that skill again so they end with 1 11/12 rather than 2 in that skill.  Of course, they also give me great material for writing when they oh-so-blatantly ignore the skilling items  =)

Our household returns from their midweek outing to find the house has now been adorned...



with meditation stools!
Pippin:  And everyone ignored them.  That's right, no one built a single point of wellness the entire day.  However, that night, they went to the massage center.



Venusia:  We seriously have to change into robes here?
Vaznya:  Yeah, why?
Venusia:  I just hope none of the married creep crowd show up to leer at me.
Pippin:  But meantime in the boys' locker room...



Pippin:  yeah, no married creepers, but Flangnorp was napping during an outing.  Again.
Flangnorp:  ZZzzzzzzzz....



Vaznya:  Hi!  I want to not lose this week and I need friends to help with that.
Lilith:  I...don't like people.
Vaznya:  I don't like anything!  We'll be great friends.  I can tell already!
Lilith:  ...do I get a choice in whether or not to be in this friendship?
Vaznya:  Nope!
Lilith:  ...fine.



Katrina:  Hey, Venusia!  This is my friend Baako.  He thinks you're hot!
Venusia:  Oh for the love of...!
Baako:  Hellooooooooo, pretty lady!



Felius:  At the risk of being too forward, may I say you are just rocking that towel, Mrs. Fyres?
Moira:  Yeah, I think I need to leave now.
Felius:  She's in my relationship panel!  She counts!
And after the outing ends, we come home for our final push and the house receives the most popular fitness and wellness items for these last two days.



Felius: I didn't get abducted this week!
Flangnorp:  Remember that next time you're thirsty!



Venusia:  I am fluid.  I am flowing like water.  I am a wave washing in and back out.
Vendara:  Dang it.  I was gonna do yoga, but now Venusia's making me have to go to the bathroom.
Vaznya:  Now that you mention it...
Venusia:  Dang it, now I have to go too!



Flangnorp:  I'm yoga-ing!  Or falling.  It's too soon to say...



Pippin:  Shouldn't you be building skills, Vaznya?
Vaznya:  Well, yoga sounds like yogurt so then I got hungry, but when I came over here the fridge was on the fritz.
Pippin:  But I bought you a new one!
Vaznya:  Yeah, but it made a mess before you did that and I just couldn't like with myself if someone slipped and fell because I saw it and if I didn't do anything about it I knew it would be all my fault...I think I need to go hide in bed.  I got myself all worked up and I'm sad now.
Pippin:  ...I was just trying to encourage you to build skills...?
Vaznya:  (crying)



Aravin:  Look at that, voices!  I've learned to stand on the mat!
Voices: 
Flangnorp:  Pretty sure it only counts if you fall down.
Voices: 
Aravin:  Really?  I do have to fall down to make it count?
Pippin:  Pretty sure they just think it'd be amusing.
Aravin:  Well, you are one of the voices, so I guess you'd know.
Pippin:  I am not a voice in your head!
Aravin:  And yet I hear you.  In my head.
Pippin:  Grrrrr...



Venusia:  Remember how last week at this time we were all just really hoping to see Gaburbna leave?
Vaznya:  Yep, that was pretty great.
Venusia:  But now it's really sad because one of us has to leave and it's been so great being here as a trio.
Vendara:  (sniff sniff)
Vaznya:  Are you crying?
Vendara:  No!  It was...raining...on my face.
And so, we come to the final outing of the week.



Pippin:  Here we are at...some gym...that I put extra yoga mats in...
Vendara:  You know you could just look up the names of places, right?
Pippin:  That sounds like so much work!



Felius: What are a couple of pretty ladies like you doing in a gym like this?
Mermaid Guy and Celebrity:  We're guys.
Felius:  Guys who are in my relationship panel, right?  Pippin, check!  Are they there?
Pippin:  ...no.
Felius:  Dang it!



Mermaid Girl:  ...so then he had the nerve to imply that I was a mermaid!
Aravin:  But, you are a mermaid.
Mermaid Girl:  I know that, but when he says it it's offensive!
Aravin:  But that doesn't make any sense.
Venusia:  No, she's right.
Aravin:  ...this is why I prefer talking to the voices.  Well, back to lifting, I guess.



Small Child:  But, if you're a vampire, doesn't that mean you're a big scary monster?
Vendara:  I don't know.  Are you scared?
Small Child:  No.
Vendara:  Well, if I'm not scary, then I guess I'm not a big scary monster.
Felius:  Nope, just a big monster.
Vendara:  Not helping!



Hacking Guy:  So, my husband's not around and I couldn't help but notice how pretty you are.
Venusia:  Oh, I'm pretty sure I need to go...anywhere else right now.
Pippin:  But eventually, we came to the end of the outing and the end of our week.  Sadly, this meant it was time for two more contestants to be eliminated.
Well, let's start with the gals.  Vendara and Venusia tied for first with 11 points apiece.  Unfortunately, that meant our little blue darling would be leaving us.



Vaznya:  I'm just happy I got to be here and meet my wonderful friends and lasted through two whole weeks and now I'm going home and...I'm just so sad.  Can I go hide from everybody in the bed one last time?
Pippin:  Of course you can.
And she has some extra time to do so because the guys made the week challenging.  Felius was our leader with 12 points thanks to 8 points he gained from outing bonuses.
Felius:  Woot!  Relationship panel for the win! 
However, that left Flangnorp and Aravin in a tie for second with 9 apiece.  Therefore, they were sequestered for a one-on-one sudden death overtime.
Flangnorp:  Wait, sudden death?
Pippin:  Didn't we discuss this already?
I'm sorry!



Aravin:  Alright, time for skilling.
Flangnorp:  Actually, isn't this the ideal time for chatting since it's just the two of us?
Aravin:  Excellent point!
Pippin:  And since they literally just hung out and chatted until their need bars were in the red, I had to do this...



Pippin:  and despite these efforts, it still took several more hours before anyone other than Venusia and Vendara tried building their skills.
Felius:  I was building a skill!
Pippin:  True, he improved another level in singing which was completely irrelevant for this week.
Eventually, however, Aravin's voices convinced him to use the yoga mat and he gained that 1 additional level he needed to claim his spot in the final week.
Aravin:  The voices said that's a food thing!
Voices: 
Aravin:  Oh, you said it's a good thing?  Dang it. I just did it because I was hungry.
And that means that we lost both of our aliens this week.



Flangnorp:  While I'm sad to be going, I did manage to find the time to arrange a special gift for my good friend Felius.



Felius:  You have got to be kidding me!
Pippin:  And our final week will be the skill-a-day challenge week with no outings, but a special 2-day final skill challenge.  However, before we leave this week, here's a look at how the scoreboard shaped up.

Yeah, Vaznya was pretty adorable, but she just really didn't want to do skilling!  That gloomy trait was just crippling for both aliens.

Oh no!  Sorry we lost both of your favs this week.  As stated, that gloomy trait was a killer!  It hit Vaznya worse, but Flangnorp defiinitely had his share of mopey moments that prevented skilling.

We rejoin a household with the final four contenders in their last bid to be the winners.  Two males and two females face off for the coveted spots of founders.
Pippin:  That was great! You didn't even say anyone would die.
Yeah, that was a mistake.  I shouldn't have said that.
Pippin: And we begin with video gaming.



Pippin:  It's obviously going to be a tight race as everyone immediately sets to work building the gaming skill.
Except for Felius.
Pippin:  Oh yeah.  What are you doing, Felius?
Felius:  I'll just wait and pick up massive points during outings.
Pippin:  We don't have any outings this week.
Felius:  Then I'll build my singing skill. 
Pippin:  That'll be great for Wednesday.  Maybe you'd like to build today's skill?



Felius:  But Vendara just challenged me to a vampire power show-off match!
Vendara:  Top that, loser!
Voices:
Aravin:  The voices said they support you calling him a loser.



Felius:  BAM!  Vamp-power!
Vendara:  Cool, I guess, but I'm still beating you in this competition.
Pippin:  You're not competing against him in this competition.
Vendara:  But am I wrong?
Pippin:  I mean...I guess not?



Venusia:  Who would've thought a game where you just control people living their lives would be so much fun?
Fourth Wall:  (Trembles precariously)
And as the day nears its close, our competitors make the most of their time by completely avoiding any last minute skilling.



Vendara:  So, one of us will have to marry one of these fellas and have several babies with him.
Venusia:  Yeah.  I hope whichever one of us wins gets the handsome one.
Felius:  Ooo, she means me!
Voices: 
Aravin:  Well, they're split.  About half the voices see your point, but the other half are taking my side, though that may be favoritism.
Vendara:  And that, my friends, seems like a big red flag for self-esteem issues.
And we move on to painting on Tuesday.



Pippin:  Look.  These are easels.  You use them for painting.
Felius:  So then the archaeologist says, "Because vampires suck."  HAHAHA! Get it?  Suck?  Like sucking plasma?
Vendara:  Sucking like that joke did, maybe.
Venusia:  Oooo, let me get you some aloe for that burn!
Pippin:  Why is no one painting?



Venusia:  So, sometimes when the voices are talking to you, you make this face.
Aravin:  Do I?
Venusia:  Yeah, why do you do that?
Voices: 
Aravin:  They said I make my face look funny because I'm funny looking.
Venusia:  That's pretty funny!
Aravin:  Funny?  Yeah, I don't think it's intentional.
Pippin:  Easels.  Please paint.
And no one scored a single point in the 24 hours that the easels sat there being ignored.  The next day, however, brought yoga back into the household.  This led to five total points being scored.



Felius:  (singing) At the yoga
                         Yoga cabana
                         The hottest spot north of Simvana
Aravin:  So, you're not even trying?
Felius:  Trying is a matter of perspective.



Vendara:  No, seriously, mister magic over there has a point.  How are you going to stand a chance of winning if you don't learn any of the skills?
Felius:  Oh yeah, well fish girl is just standing around drinking water!
Venusia:  I'm a mermaid.  I need water.  Like, literally need it to survive.  Pretty sure vampires don't need to sing.
Felius:  Well, not with that attitude they don't!



Vendara:  So, looks like everyone who's actually trying to learn skills is doing really well.
Aravin:  Yeah, so, if Felius doesn't even try, am I still technically winning, or is he just giving up?
Felius:  Oh, I've got plans for this.  You'll see!
Vendara:  Umm, Venusia?  What yoga pose is that?
Venusia  Yoga?  Oh!  I'm just practicing my diving form.  Mermaid, remember?
And we move on to the midpoint of our final week with the skill Felius has devoted the most time to:  singing.
Felius:  Ha!  Told you I had a plan!



Aravin:  (singing) I can do maaaa-gic
                          I can have anything
                          That I desire
                          Maaaa-gic
                          And I know I'm the one who can put out the fire
Venusia:  I mean, that's semi-accurate, I guess.  And he does look cute when he sings.
Felius:  She means me!



Felius:  (singing) Sing us a song
                         You're the plasma man
                         Sing us a song tonight
                         For we're all in the mood for a melody
                         And you've got us feeding all night.
Vendara:  You make me so ashamed to be a vampire.
And so, Felius started out with a 2 point head start on singing, but after a full day of the karaoke machines being available...



Aravin had gained 1 point of singing and both gals matched Felius' 2 points.
Felius:  See?  I still beat the magic man and that's all that matters!
Pippin:  You beat him one day out of four!
Felius:  Exactly!  I beat him!
And so, at the midpoint of the final week, Felius has 3 points while Aravin is solidly in the lead with 5.  On the girls' side, Vendara leads by a single point as she has 6 and Venusia has 5.



Venusia:  (singing)I feel good
                           I knew that I would
Vendara:  I feel better.  Just sayin'.
Pippin:  And for those of you who like scoreboards, here's the breakdown for the first half of the final week:

I think Venusia may have grown on me the most as the competition wore on, actually.  I had this initial idea that she would continuously make water references, but then the married guys thing came up and...well, you'll see another unexpected aspect of her personality show up in these last couple of days.

On top of that, Life States: You Have to Win to Play was Aubrie's inspiration to start a new Hero Dynasty series. The royalties are rolling in!

And here she is, the lone fan for Felius.  It's funny how everyone jumped on board with Venusia even though Vendara has come out of top for the gals every week.  I suppose everyone loves an underdog?

Well, without further ado, let's find out if Venusia can make her fans' devotion pay off!

And it is a momentous occasion at the random selection household as we reach the final three days of the competition.
Pippin:  And our second-to-last skill area is robotics!  I'm really excited to see if they actually create anything or if they just tinker at the robotics stations.



Venusia:  Oh look, it's our kitchen table!
Pippin:  Do you not see the robotics station behind you?
Venusia:  Nope!  I think it's time for socializing.



Felius:  So, which of you lucky ladies think you'll end up winning the great prize, which is to say, me?
Vendara:  Aren't you currently losing this competition?
Venusia:  And what makes you think you're a prize?
Aravin:  And why can't I beat this level on Angry Llamas?!?!?
Pippin:  And why won't anyone work on robotics?
So in a repeat of our painting day, no one built any skills.  At all.  Not even one.
Pippin:  But then the real fun began!
In the dark of night, a quiet, peaceful home in the midst of a peaceful suburb was about to suffer the wrath of...



toddlers!
Pippin:  Yep!  Toddlers!  It's time to see who's best at that oh-so-important parenting skill since that will be of extreme importance for this challenge.  And as a fun footnote, these children are the result of using the DNA thing in CAS to get a sneak peek at what all the potential male-female pairings would produce as offspring!  And they're all pretty cute!



Venusia:  Good heavens!  What a cutie pie!  You must have a really attractive mother.
Pippin:  Technically, you're the mother, so...
Venusia:  And that just proves my point!  And look what a perfect little angel he is!



Felius:  Your mermaid baby is trying to swim in the toilet again!
Venusia:  So angelic!



Aravin  ...and then she was like, "Oh no, where are my shoes?"
Pippin:  Aww, you came over to join little Ariel for some time playing with the dolls?
Aravin:  Oh, umm, she came over to join me, actually.  This just looked like so much fun!
Ariel:  Pay wi daddy!



Felius:  Play time!
Pippin:  Aww, is Kai one of yours? 
Felius:  No idea!  I didn't keep track.
Vendara:  He's Aravin's.
Aravin:  Thanks for helping to raise my kid, Felius!
Felius:  You're welcome.  Pretty sure I have kids around here somewhere?



Pippin:  Alright, since people are probably curious, let's identify the kiddos from left to right.  Little Kai is the child of Aravin and Venusia, Ariel is Aravin's daughter with Vendara, Eve is a mixture of Felius and Vendara, and Sri is the son of Felius and Venusia.
And let's continue with toddler spam.
Pippin:  I mean, YEAH!



Aravin:  Some day, all of this will be your kingdom, Simba, but you must never go into that dark area.
Ariel:  Wha dat?
Aravin:  That is Forgotten Hollow, and it...
Vendara:  is your mother's home!
Aravin:  Oh, never mind.  You rule everything, Simba.
Ariel:  Simma wule!



Felius:  Well, I suppose it's time to feed you, Eve.  I guess the real question is what am I going to feed you to?
Aravin:  Wow, that's just good parenting right there!
Venusia:  Yeah, it helps if you actually give them food instead of just leaving them in the chair.
Ariel:  Wanna food!
Aravin  Sorry, Ariel.  Daddy's still new to this parenting thing.
Pippin:  And I was super worried that something went wrong and that Aravin was glitched in some way.  He had done several parenting things and still hadn't begun learning the skill while everyone else had.
It did kick in eventually, though, and Ariel did eventually get food...



because she has a very responsible momma.
Ariel:  Tankoo momma!
Vendara:  You're welcome, little one.



Venusia:  Kai!  What did I tell you about making a mess?
Kai:  Mae bidder!!
Venusia:  That's right!  I expect a much bigger mess, young man!
Aravin  Wow, glad she's not influencing my child like that!
Pippin:  Umm, that's your son?
Aravin:  Wait, I have two kids?
And while Venusia was encouraging messes...



Vendara was fighting against them.
Vendara:  Is no one else bothered by the stench?  Seriously?
Felius:  I'm on it!



Felius:  I have to give you a bath because you're stinky.
Kai:  No you tinky!
Felius:  I just mean you smell bad.
Kai  You bad!
Felius:  ...this one's hurting my feelings!  Can we call the adoption agency and trade him in?
Venusia:  You try to get rid of my precious angel and you'll be picking your fangs up off the ground.
Felius:  ...I'll just get back to giving him his bath now.



Venusia:  ...and then the baby said, "Yo, what up, dog?"
Ariel:  Up dod!!
Pippin:  I'm not really sure that's what that says?
Venusia:  Well, I started life at the young adult stage, so I never went to school, so if I never learned to read, that's kind of your fault.
Pippin:  Wait, that's not...
Vendara:  No, she's got a point.
Pippin  Dang it!
Ariel:  Dand it!
Pippin:  Ariel, language!



Felius:  Woot!  Snack time!  Such great parenting!
Pippin:  Umm, you did no parenting.  Sri just grabbed leftovers off the high chair.
Felius:  Yes, he grabbed it for snack time.  Totally parenting right now!



Pippin:  Vendara, on the other hand, actually did have a handle on this parenting thing.
Vendara:  What's this one?
Ariel:  A tard!
Vendara:  Yes, it's a card, but what's on the card?
Ariel:  You han!
Vendara:  Yes, my hand's on the card, but what is the picture?
Ariel:  It a pitshur!
Pippin:  This is going well!  Aravin's parenting approach is a bit less teaching-focused.



Aravin:  Who can fly?  You can fly!
Sri:  WWWHEEEE!!!
Pippin:  While Venusia's parenting style is more lead-by-example.



Venusia:  Now this is how you make a mess, kids!!
Pippin:  And Felius' parenting style is, well, a bit more reserved.



Felius:  Daddy needs his down time!
Pippin:  But eventually, we were coming up to the end of our final week and it was just about time to announce the winners.
Indeed.  It had originally appeared that Felius was not even going to try this week, but he managed to score a very solid 6.  Unfortunately for him, Aravin just barely managed to get that second point of parenting in mere hours before the week ended, and therefore, finished with a score of 7 making him our male founder!



Aravin:  Alright, Ariel!  We've won!  We get to go get this dynasty started now!
Pippin:  You don't actually get to take Ariel with you.
Aravin:  But...but she's the cutest!!!
Ariel:  Am tutest!
And that brings us to the ladies.  In a race that was tight the whole way through, Vendara managed to slowly pull out a lead and never let it go.  While Venusia logged an impressive score of 7, Vendara totalled 9 points this week to become our female founder.



Vendara:  Got to agree with Aravin.  I want to bring Ariel.
Pippin:  I'm sorry, but on the bright side, she is an example of what your combined genes can create.
Vendara:  How entirely scientific and non-sentimental of you, Pippin.
Pippin:  Why, thank you!
Vendara:  That wasn't a compliment.
Pippin:  Oh.
And so, we are prepared to strand these two poor Sims on a vacant lot and leave them to raise 45 children on their own!
Vendara:  It sounds less like winning when you say it that way...
Aravin:  And sounds more like awesome!
Voices: 
Aravin:  Oh.  Awful, not awesome.  I misheard.
