@oshizu: I was gonna say yes but the "send them to good homes" thing is the operating phrase here. So bump that seven up to eight to include the new hero (especially since there are no hard toddler requirements for any of the heroes, just giving them a good foundation) + this sentence from MarianT earlier in the thread:

Except for the toddlers being nurtured, everyone added to the household should be regarded as a future hero.

Thank you, Trip! Your response makes so much sense.
I'm better off adopting a child as the next hero, and nurturing the toddlers separately. Why torture myself? haha

Are the heroes allowed to live in a pre-built home?  how about houses or empty shells from the gallery?

I didn't see an answer to this. Are houses downloaded from the gallery allowed?

Thanks -- I thought I had answered this. Heroes can live in a pre-built home. I would advise against downloading from the Gallery because there can be problems with MOO, but they're not forbidden.

@MarianT
Wondering if we can add insects to the items for the Natural History Museum. I know they aren't base game, but I saw shells in the list, so thought maybe leaving out insects might not be on purpose.

Thanks
Marsha

Thanks - I'm actually thinking of a home I've used before that was created early without a lot of packs - it has an upstairs with a lot of bedrooms, so as the family grows, I don't have to do a lot of building to make room. I've used it before just in my play and never had a problem with move objects, and there is a fairly convenient place to add stairs for a basement if need be, so I never run out of room. ;D

I added insects just now. I didn't mean to leave them out, just forgot.

So four probably silly questions

1) Do the 7 heroes have to be alive at the end of the challenge? Or can they be allowed to die after they do their project?
2) Between your 7 heroes, do you have to complete all 13 of the requirements?
3) Related to the last question, if not, can all 7 heroes do the same requirements?
4) The requirement that requires a skill level of 7 in an adult skill - does it have to remain at 7 or can it be allowed to increase to 8 and beyond?

Thanks

@Deklitch

1. They all are meant to be living at the end. I don't think we discussed what would happen if one of the heroes died but I would assume it's an automatic fail.
2. You don't need to hit the whole list but it probably makes things more interesting if you do.
3. You could, but see above for my own unsolicited opinion. :P
4. You can go further in the skill, especially because it'll probably get built past level 7 anyways (see the part about immortal heroes)

@Deklitch @Trip

Marian answered about death of the heroes earlier.

Yes, you should try to keep them alive, which is why you're allowed to use the reward potions, serums, etc., that increase age. But it's not a fail if one dies, unless that hero died before completing a project.

@Deklitch,

As Reggiko said, you don't have to keep them alive after they've finished their project, but you can.
Trip is right about the other 3.

Thanks Marion, Reggikko and Trip.

Next question - when it says positive character traits, how far up the green side of the traits do you need to be?

Also, how do I do the scouting stuff? I managed to get a scouting display board so I imagine it is something to do that, but clicking on the sim doesn't seem to give an option of doing scouting things.

For positive character traits, it needs to be in the range (the top portion of the green, there is a line demarcation) where they will receive the trait when they age up.

Scouting badges are earned by doing normal things.  Click on the board and Badge Progress (you might need to hover over to see the tooltips) and it will tell you what they need to do to earn them - friendly and funny socializing, arts and crafts, physical, outdoorsy, mental, etc.
