Traveler Mod and moving between worlds
« on: September 20, 2020, 05:41:28 PM »
Hi everyone!

This is my first post but I have been playing the sims 3 for probably close to a decade. I use a mac and have several nraas mods installed.

I have been trying to start a legacy game and have several adult children that I would like to move out of their parents house and into different worlds where they each have their own family and residence. I was hoping to do this with Traveler using the change homeworld command to move each sim to their respective world and establish jobs and families but still be able to go back to where their parents live and play the remaining siblings who are still teenagers. Unfortunately when I try this method my customized version of apaloosa plains is no longer an option to visit, it’s just the default version. My sims parents house is gone and it’s as if I’ve started a new game. There is a thread in which igazor explains that he has a rotation of families that he plays across different worlds so I’m assuming what I’m trying to do is possible but is there a step or a setting that I’m missing? I’ve tried everything from moving the sim successfully to the new world, inviting parents or siblings to visit and then trying to switch to the visitor being active so I can get back to my custom world and leave my adult sim to live in the new one but I can’t switch households.

If anyone has any idea how to do this I’d be very appreciative! I love the traveler mod but just can’t get it to behave how I’d like. Thanks so much.

Hi back!

I'm happy to see someone else using NRaas Traveler. I've been using it in my TJ game for almost 2 years now, and will soon be moving to my 11th town.

I don't use a mac but I'm sure the steps are similar.

One thing I wanted to mention is that visitors to towns aren't actually the full version of your sim from the original town, just mini versions.
And adding those versions to your town isn't recommended, from what I understand.
Though I do believe you could use NRaas Master Controller to add the full versions from your original town, if your customized version of Appaloosa Plains lists them as residents.

I had similar issues with using the EA world Adventureland and it didn't actually let me do that since Adventureland has the same identifying number as Sunset Valley.

If I had let Igazor know my original town was Adventureland, then I could have saved myself a lot of work.
But my traveling sims had a great time is Starlight Shores, even if the sims I added from Adventureland using Master Controller>add sim didn't actually move due the conflict with my town and Sunset Valley.

Have you posted your issue with Traveler on the Nraas site,  mentioning you are using a mac and a customized Appaloosa Plains?
Igazor or another member of the site may be able to provide the reason it's not working for you.

Better yet, they might be able to help you get it to work. :)

Admin and members at the NRaas site have been very helpful and patient with all of my questions about Sims 3 and NRaas mods.

Between them and the helpful admin and members on this Forum, it's really made my Sims 3 experience a much more positive one.

Thanks for the advice, I thought the nraas site was no longer up so maybe I’ll post there too :)

@theinvderz: they're at nraas.net now and the forums are active enough to get a response within a day...probably better than this place. :P

Thanks for providing the NRaas information Trip!

I go there so often I have a NRaas icon pinned to my task bar and never dreamed the poster didn't know they had a new site.

They are very quick to answer when one of their mods is being used and a player is having trouble with it. :)

Only time there could be a delay is when it's not really related to NRaas mods specifically, but a sims issue that you've had and not many other players have experienced.
Then it might take a few days before you get a reply.

And if you haven't given enough details or the appropriate ones, you'll be getting suggestions for fixes that either don't apply or have already been tried.
Speaking from experience as I am the worst when it comes to explaining an issue---very wordy but leaving out crucial details. lol
Case in point---not mentioning to Igazor that I was playing in Adventureland, right at the beginning of one of my posts!
