Late Night fish in Sunset Valley
« on: January 04, 2011, 10:33:23 AM »
The guide says you can find the kissing fish and the other two new fish types almost everywhere in the game (the kissing one in fresh water, the other two in the ocean)... but I just can't catch them. Is it normal that they don't even appear in the water inspection thingy? Do you just have to wait for them to show up randomly at some point? Or can't you catch them in Sunset Valley? I need to Supermax my sim's fishing skill for the Immortal Dynasty Challenge and I really need to find these fish. Does anyone know some specific place where they can be caught?

For places outside of Bridgeport, you can get Kissing Gourami in freshwater spots, such as lakes. Sewer Trilobites and Sea Sludge are fished from saltwater spots, such as the ocean. None of these fish are located in any specific "great spot for fishing!"; Instead, they are found everywhere in their water-type area, meaning that you can click anywhere in a lake to get the Kissing Gourami, or anywhere in the ocean for the other two (within range limits, of course).

The new fish do show up on the list when you Inspect the water.  It will say "There aren't many fish here.  Try looking where fish are swimming!"  Then Kissing Gourami, for example, appear on the list of fish in that spot.  It's basically any spot on the water that doesn't have the visible and jumping fish.

Here are the baits for the new fish:

Kissing Gourami - Goldfish
Sea Sludge - Links
Sewer Trilobite - Minnow

To inspect water, you need Fishing Level 1.

To inspect water, you need Fishing Level 1.

Right.  Without any fishing skill at all, the option to Inspect won't show up when you click the water.  Thanks, aAa.  :)

So this isn't in Sunset Valley, but does anyone know if the same works in Riverview? Can you get the three new fish in the ponds in Riverview since there isn't an ocean to fish in?

Have you tried the river that crosses Riverview? That is the "ocean" of it.

How about the Hatchery in Riverview? I'm pretty sure most of the saltwater fish are there.

So after some trial I did find that you can get the salt water fish at the end of the river in the "ocean" or wide end or the river. As for the kissing Gourami, I never found a place to fish for them but they are availible at the grocery store so you can buy 10 and stock your own pont to get a perfect one. Hope this help others.

The Kissing Gourami should be available in any of the ponds or fresh water spots in Riverview.  The trick is that you click on water that's not active with jumping fish.

I tried all the ponds, none of them showed them, at least not that I could find.....I gave up and just stocked a pond on my home lot.
