Nice score, Vesper. Oh my gosh -- the Sims 3 umbrella upgrades. Good memories. :)

Aww my first official challenge was the grandmaster one in 2011. I did a few off the 2010 challenges but wasn't brave enough to post any scores.

Thor Hammer is back to hammer home a score of

46 Off lot upgrades
50 Home lot upgrades
Household funds - $196,623

Multiplier - (46 x .02) + (50 x .01) + 1.00 = 2.42
196, 623 x 2.42
Total score = 475,827

That multiplier is evil! >:( Man I really left this one until the last minute (Nearly 11:pm here) as I have not been feeling the Sims 4 lately but I think Thor really hit the nail on the head with this score! :D

Andy Handy managed to finish with the following score:

42 Off lot upgrades
6 Home lot upgrades
Household funds - $178,989

Multiplier - (42 x .02) + (6 x .01) + 1.00 = 1.9
178,989 x 1.9
Total score = 340079.1

Cheers!

Handy McBreaks-A-Lot really missed not having Rally the Troops…

Household funds = §186,551

Home upgrades = 16 = 0.16
Non-home lot upgrades = 48 = 0.96

UU = 1.00 + 0.16 + 0.96 = 2.12

Total = §395,488

Dexter Kwámè Gyamerah would have very much preferred it had I actually tested my strategy beforehand, 'cause then I might have realised that I hadn't correctly identified the major limiting factor he was going to face, but ho hum. He's now pretty darn rich, with a loving husband and a fair bit of fame, so he can't exactly complain... well, he can probably complain about everything I forced him to do, but that's just par for the course with challenge sims...

In the end, his household funds totalled §179,130, and with 34 upgrades on his home lot and 43 elsewhere giving a multiplier of 1 + 0.34 + 0.86 = 2.2, that gives me a final score of 179130 x 2.2 = 394086. And hey, this time I've managed to post my score a whole eight minutes before midnight... turns out my troubles with time management in this challenge weren't just in-game!

This event is now closed

20 participants total for this one...a bit dissapointing, but as I have said many times I think a good part of that is simply that Sims 4 is unquestionably in its twilight. Nonetheless, a fun event, and great job to Elinoee for coming out on top. It was a close one between Elinoee and Rainbow. Everyone is now free to share strategy. Thanks for participating.

I have to admit I agree with you there @Metropolis Man about the Sims 4 being in it's twilight, it's just been going on for too long now with not a lot of improvement or depth. Because of this, I have been finding it difficult to stay interested in Sims 4 and I haven't been feeling like playing lately, not even the Tournaments. It doesn't really help that I find the content of the Sims 4 unsatisfying as of late. :(

I didn't think it was that close between myself and Elinoee but it's kind of you to say Metro, I'm just happy I did better than last time, lol.  :)

But for now, it's getting late and my notes are scattered plumbob knows where so I'll leave it until tomorrow to post my strategy, until then see you in the next challenge.

My strategy involved forgetting that sims could create musical instruments if they were at level 8 in that particular music skill until Friday of week 2 and not being able to take full advantage.
I also should have upgraded more stuff off lot to boost my multiplier.
I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else.did.

My strategy involved not being at all prepared, and not realizing why I couldn't make the musical instruments until after the challenge was complete. I made 17 bathtubs though. I really felt like my sim was on the brink of death the whole time, but I met her fun need and hygiene at the same time since she started a fling with Johnny Zest, and only had a shower available. I have a full spread sheet of my scoring if anyone wants more details. This was super fun! Congratulations to the winner  ;D

@Erin,my sim was with Johnny Zest too, they even get married  ;)

Well,I feel a bit strange, hope I did nothing against the rules...here is my strategy:
First,I listed all the possible upgrades in the game in a testing file.
I bought all objects I could think of,and, with a sim who was at level 10 in Handiness, clicked on them, and listed the exact names of the possible upgrades (my game is in French, hope they are not different in English!)
I didn’t know about many of those upgrades,so this was really interesting ! For an example,I didn’t even know that it was possible to upgrade beds…
I finally listed more than hundred of possible UU in the game.

Then,I tried to find the objects to upgrade on community and residential lots, and made a little list of some I will be able to find and upgrade outside my home, without having to buy them.
I planned to buy only the objects that aren’t on existing lots in the game and try to upgrade the most possible objects outside the house.

For the woodworking part,I tested too,and found that it would be more profitable to make my sim concentrate on the few expensivest ones :
1) mascot camping sculptures
2) bathtubs
3) guitars (I had to spend time learning guitar until I was level 8 but I think it was worth the time)
4) dining tables
I was thinking of learning and making violins too,but finally abandoned the idea.
I spent 4 entire days (24 hours non stop) making those 4 items again and again.
The other days were spent doing upgrades and gaining satisfaction points,in order to get potions (my sim never ate nor slept) and the marketable trait.
The first days,I learned guitar too,and leveled a bit the handiness skill.

I didn’t buy a house,I put my sim on a 20x15 empty lot, made it  a «tiny house» (lowest bills, faster learning of all skills),put the lot traits «study spot» (to learn the skills faster),«home studio» (to make better quality items), «great acoustics» (only when I was learning guitar) and «homey» (to level handiness faster).
I bought a lamp to be concentrated while woodworking, and another to be inspired while playing guitar.
I bought a desk with a chair and a PC too,to be able to order handiness parts,a radio,a bush for toilets, and a tiny house bed.
My sim was a genius, cheerful and music lover.
At the beginning of the game,I placed the Shimuzu restaurant (because of the outdoor lamps that can be upgraded) and a spa (to make an upgrade to the sauna, which I didn’t buy for my sim because it’s too expensive).

Here are the details of my 14 working days:
D1:gaining satisfaction points (level 1 of vampire aspirations+musical genius 2/4) to buy potions, learning guitar until level 8 (ok at 6:00 am at the end of day 1)
D2:gaining satisfaction points (soulmate with Johnny Zest)+begin leveling handiness by woodworking (2 horses sculptures,1 garden planter,3 mirrors,12 wall hangings )
D3:handiness was nearly level 10. I continued gaining satisfaction points with soulmate aspiration and began UU outside the house. I sometimes did the « get the pieces » interaction (not sure if it is entitled so in English) on electronic devices outside the house,to get free handiness parts. Then I went to Granite Falls and learned to make the mascot camping sculpture. Then, made toilets to get 100 satisfaction points (it was a whim). Made  6 UU outside the house and 2 inside (on tiny house bed) this day.
D4 : making 35 mascot camping sculptures and gaining satisfaction points (fabulously wealthy 3/4)
D5:gaining satisfaction points (soulmate)+7 UU outside the house
D6 :9 UU outside the home+1 UU inside (I bought the meteo machine because you can make 7 UU on it)
D7 :making 20 guitars (47855 $)
D8 : gaining satisfaction points (soulmate) +10 UU outside the house and 1UU inside (meteo machine)
D9 : making 20 bathtubs
D10: 1 UU at home (meteo machine)+ 9 UU outside
D11 : 4 UU outside+ 13 UU at home (4 on meteo machine+ 3 on  talking toilets+ 6 on vacuum cleaner)
D12 : 18 UU at home (2 on automatic sprinkler,1 on clothesline,5 on washing-machine,3 on drone,3 on gaming console,3 on dishwasher,1 on tumble dryer)
D13 : making 21 dining tables
D14 : 14 UU at home (3 on karaoke machine,3 on microscope,2 on video production station,1 on bowling alley,2 on x-ray machine,2 on whirlpool,1 on drawing tablet)+ making 2 end tables because I had a little time left

The UU I made outside the house were on beds (2), showers, bathtubs, corner bathtubs (the upgrades are different than the ones on the classic bathtubs),toilets, sinks, stoves, fridges, microwaves, coffee makers, tea pots, observatories (at San Myshuno park and at the Geekcon),talking toilets (San Myshuno),fireplaces, video playmats (Behr and Lobo),coffee machine ( Bjergsen),PC,TV,dishwasher (Hecking) and surgery machine for pets (at the clinic in Brindelton Bay).

If anyone is interested I can provide the list of the 95 UU I made but it’s in french.

Great detailed info, Elinoee. Thanks so much. Grats again on the win.

Does anyone remember cyclonenic? They won the event two years ago and posted a very detailed strategy...

https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=29406.msg476148#msg476148

That gave me a few tips for this one. I wonder what happened to them? So many great players have come and gone.

I found this strategy and had used it to establish mine.  But apparently, there is a big difference between planning and execution on my part.

When I realized that I just wasn't going to make a lot of the woodworking, I focused on getting as many of the UU off lot as possible.

Oh, I am totally with you on that. High level challenge play almost becomes an art for the best players I think. By the way, Teresa, your Challenge Blog that you have had for ages is just fantastic. I really enjoy it and the free advertising you basically give Carl's Forum is appreciated.

Thanks!

Absolutely.  This forum and the guide are both great resources, and I have learned a lot about the tricks of the game from here, and I am glad to spread the word.  8)
