Vampires + Fast Learner?
« on: January 01, 2011, 01:33:37 AM »
I was wondering if the two stacked to impressively increase learning times, although some sites suggest that the effect does not stack, has anyone confirmed this at all? (I didn't put this in the vampires thread since it was a question rather than a discussion.)

A vampire youth and vampire teenager can max their skills, especially at night, twice as fast as mortals.  I have two teenagers that are vampires and they could max all of their musical instrument skills in just a few sim hours.  There is no difference in book reading, but mine has almost all skills maxed, except for photography and nectar making and they just turned young adult. :)

It has been known that vampire sims, most of the time vampire children, can get a very exploitable skill-learning rate. I don't think anyone is really sure on how to make it happen, and there's surely more to it than just being a vampire and having the Fast Learner reward.

What happens is, some vampire sims (once more highlighting Vampire Children) get their rates exponentially raised. Instead of just having a 2x learning rate during the night, it actually doubles every night, meaning they would have 2x on their first night, 4x on their second, 8x on their third, and so on. Do not freak out if your vampire Sim maxes 6 skills in one night.

I can say with absolute certainty that this is not limited to vampire offspring only, as one of my Sims has had it happen to him, and he wasn't anyone's offspring.

My vampire youths and teenagers did not even have fast learner.  Vampire youth and teens are just naturally faster in almost all skill levels.  It is amazing to watch the progress meter fill up over and over again and yes, the youths can master all the skills that are available to them in one night or weekend, however long you want them to do their skills.  I so enjoy working with vampire famililes. :)

Well it wasn't really with the child exploit, I was just wondering if the Fast Learner lifetime reward will add onto a vampire's night time skill learning moodlet (As an adult that is)

I see what you mean.  Well, I might just have to see, but, they are so fast anyway, I couldn't imagine them going any faster with the fast learner wish.  That would be something to see anyway and to find out. :D

I think they do learn it even faster. At some point, the vampire will just end up with the bugged accumulative rates, anyway. EA might fix this in a future patch, and by doing that they may not let vampire bonus + Fast Learner stack, either.

I think it extends to toddlers too because I had my vampire toddler play on the xylophone and in the blink of an eye he had maxed it out (for a toddler). I was like "woah." It was very strange. :(

I'm not 100% sure where I read it, but they were not intended to stack.  Fast Learner is only supposed to benefit a vampire during the daylight hours.  And really, I'm don't think that's what is going on.  The only vampire I've ever played nearly maxed Piano in a few hours, and she doesn't even have that Lifetime Happiness Reward.
