Finally all caught up! Love seeing everybody's individual happy endings and how reflective they are of the heirs' personalities. Cloning for spouses was a great idea that I might just have to borrow in the future

I didn't notice everyone having the Nita jaw until you said it.

In fact, I was wrong about that.  I remembered it carrying on all down the line but I've been looking with Master Controller at the immortals and the spouses who've been revived so far, and the Nita jaw only went as far as Morgan.  Ford and Lotus inherited Opal's jaw shape.

I am glad that one lil throwaway wish (or several) of VW's didn't go to waste. And that she didn't go the way of Morgan and Opal, just one disappointment is enough.

I'd had an idea that VW and Riley might settle down on a farm somewhere and have more kids but when VW kept wishing to clone Portia I realised what their story should really be.

To be honest, I was willing to put a lot more effort into their relationship, because I like them both.  Morgan's always irritated me.  Although it's also true that he kept autonomously trying romantic interactions with Opal and she rejected him every time, so they were probably doomed anyway.

I wish I'd thought of cloning before.  Given how quickly the science skill builds, it's a much easier option than keeping the townie genes going through pollination.

Great updates. I don't remember much about Riley during the dynasty storytelling so its nice to see him in more detail this time around. What are his traits and what does he do with himself now? I am guessing that VW has the Family Orientated trait and that is why they are now a family of five.  Just love the family group pose at the end of this update. I don't recognise the house in Apaloosa that they have moved in to but it looks quite large.

Riley's original traits were artistic, brave, photographer's eye, great kisser and loves the outdoors (so I shouldn't have been surprised by that wish to go fishing.  Oddly, I don't remember him being particularly outdoorsy during the dynasty.  Too busy slaving away as a painter-photographer, probably.)  Since his revival, he's had a midlife crisis and replaced his photographer's eye with a love of animals.  He's currently unemployed and is busy learning new skills (mostly fishing, gardening and logic), carrying on with his painting and photography, and spending time with his family – just doing whatever he wants, essentially.

VW started out with friendly, loves the outdoors, vehicle enthusiast (of course!), socially awkward and ambitious, and acquired bookworm through nerd influence a long time afterwards.  She's also now had a midlife crisis and dropped her social awkwardness in favour of family orientation, which I felt she ought to have in view of all those wishes to clone Portia, and replaced ambitious with animal lover, because I wanted them to have pets and was getting a little tired of her 'failure to progress' moodlet – although she is free to learn other skills now, so might have been OK anyway.

The house is Park Palace.  It's up the hill from the town centre, on the same road as the Singletons, Imogen Pelly and Gavin Pinkerton.  Having discovered it, I'll probably play there again – there aren't many large empty houses in Sims 3.  It's supposed to have five bedrooms but actually only has four (unless I've missed one somewhere), although there's a large study that could become a fifth bedroom.  It also looks as though it'd be relatively easy to add more rooms upstairs: great for a random town jump or one of the dynasties where you move towns.

Unmarked Carr (part 3)

Rolls Royce gradually worked his way up the criminal hierarchy.  Promotions came slowly because his immediate boss, Kimo Hale, despite having a reputation as an ambitious workaholic, never seemed to put in an appearance until at least halfway through the shift.  That severely limited RR's chances to impress but, on the other hand, gave him plenty of time for snooping.

He'd arranged to have himself 'arrested' at intervals, as a way of passing on information to Silas Allender, his local police contact.

Unfortunately, the paparazzi were waiting outside the police station after his second arrest and the resulting bad publicity cost him a lot of friends.

On the bright side, it boosted his relationships with the criminals and Alana Kahale was now his very best friend on the island.  They'd continued to meet up outside work when her husband was busy elsewhere but RR was doing his best to keep the relationship platonic, very much against his own wishes.

"OK, progress at last.  As we both know, the gang specialise in information and money laundering – but our big problem is getting hold of enough evidence for secure convictions.  I know where to look but it'd take a whole team of investigators to go through everything.  What we need is to get the whole gang out of the way so we can go up to The Lair in force.  I think we have a chance to do just that but we'll have to move fast.

"They do still have a sideline in robbery, which leaves them with some stuff that's impossible to fence locally.  It's been building up for a while and now they're planning to move it all off-island.

"You know that old shipwreck below the volcano?  They're planning to ferry a load of jewels and assorted other swag out there and have it picked up later by 'tourists' on diving trips.   Everyone's been called in to help, to get it moved as fast as possible – so what about catching the criminals red-handed?  Then we could go through The Lair at our leisure while they're all locked up.  But could you mount a raid by Thursday evening?"

The Sunlit Tides force didn't have huge resources of either people or money, as Silas was only too well aware, and it took hours to thrash out the details.  It was getting on for noon when RR was 'released'.  He was exhausted.

At least there were no lurking paparazzi this time.  Not that it made any difference – word somehow got out that he'd been arrested yet again and he lost most of his remaining friends .


The criminals gathered on the little beach facing the shipwreck shortly before midnight for Alana's final briefing…

…and started loading crates into a couple of tatty old rowing boats.

The police?  Here?  Alana and Alonso raised their hands.  Adolphe made a run for the boat that was ready to launch…

And RR – RR floored Kimo with a single punch…

With everyone else occupied, Alana might have been able to make a dash for her speedboat but she was too astonished even to try.  RR was a cop?  And I was about to give him another promotion!

The busy night was far from over.  Once the criminal gang had been delivered to the police station, Silas, RR and Len drove over to the Kahale house for the second half of the operation.

Kai answered the door.

"Go back to bed, Lealani."

But she didn't.  Who were these strange men?  And what did they want with Daddy?

"Armed robbery?!  Here?  Your boss is going to be furious when she finds out.  This is her house, you idiots!"

Probably should have taken the time to get changed.

"Yes, sir, we know who you are.  But we're not who you think we are.  Ignore the outfits – we've been out on a job.  I'm Silas Allender, Sunlit Tides Police."  And he produced his ID.  "Kai Kahale, you're under arrest."

"What on earth for?"

"Let's see… political corruption, involvement in criminal operations on this island – oh, and we're reopening the investigation into your sister's death.  Get dressed.  You're coming with us."

Then he noticed the kid.  What were they going to do with her?  Suddenly, he remembered that Leo Wahine was the girl's uncle – the very reason he'd not been involved in this operation.

"Lieutenant Wahine?  We need your help with a situation here…  No, not at the station.  At the Kahales'…  Yes, ASAP…  Thanks."

I like this chapter a lot! RR's story is my favorite so far and this chapter only cemented that. I loved the jail and beach scenes, they were greatly done.

Right? He got the eighth generation story shortening (it's understandable) but also gets all the pose player action later. It makes for compelling tales, like Kai conveniently not having the freedom to see RR and Alana's prison affair through (you know it in your heart?)

"Austin, we need a chat.  There's something I want to do but I need to know how you feel about it."
"OK…  What?"
"I kind of feel we ought to bring back our helpers.  Probably next – before the rest of the family.  They did so much for us, for so little reward.  Even though I miss Jaycen so much, I think it's the right thing to revive the others first."
"I know what you mean.  It's been so long since I saw Mercedes – and Morris, for that matter – but I'd feel guilty if we didn't give the others another chance as well."

So Minnie spent most of the following day at the science lab, restoring Robin, Romeo and Alvis.

They seemed to get on pretty well to start with but as soon as they arrived back home the trouble started.  There was barely a minute that went by without one of the ghosts scaring another one.  A glitch?  I've never seen even an evil ghost scare people more than a few times a day and these all had neutral-to-good traits.

All of their relationships plummeted, unsurprisingly.  So much for any ideas I'd had about romantic pairings  .  Oh well, at least I could stop the scaring.  Off to the Ambrosia Room, you three.  Right now!

Once they were all human again, Minnie summoned them up to the living room for Young Again potions.

Judging by the usual reactions, that potion must taste disgusting.  I've never seen a Sim look as delighted by Young Again as Alvis did .

Ever since her own revival, Opal had been thinking seriously about what she wanted to do with this unexpected second life.  Eventually, she made a decision and went off to the new Performance Park to register as an acrobat.  From a combination of performing for tips and athletic training from Lotus, she was soon starting to make her way up the career ladder.

She was a little worried when she heard that Robin had been revived but, after all, Opal was mostly out of the house these days – and it turned out that Robin was more interested in reading and playing Gnubb than socialising, anyway.

Alvis also took to music.  He'd always wanted a guitar in his first life but had had to be content with the decorative one on his bedroom wall.

Opal was happy to have someone to jam with, although Alvis was a terrible show-off.

When that screenshot was taken, Opal was close to maxing the skill, while Alvis was at level 2.  Not that you'd guess it from their body language .

As well as his music, Alvis developed a fondness for the games room under the garage, which had been largely ignored until now.  Portia had played pool occasionally but that was about it.  Alvis was always dragging various housemates down there to play table tennis or foosball, although his first love was bowling.

Like Opal, he went into a performance career – singing in his case.

The two performers took to chatting at the end of the day.  Discussions about music, the unreasonableness of proprietors and bad tippers led to fellow-feeling, and then to attraction.

After a hard day's work, trying to get to grips with her new balance ball in her case, and rushing around town delivering sing-a-grams in his, Opal called Alvis and agreed to meet up at The Lucky Simoleon for some relaxation.

The casino was fun – when it wasn't enormously frustrating.  Alvis gazed admiringly at Opal as she tried her luck with yet another slot machine.  She was so cute when she was concentrating!

He took out his guitar and serenaded her.

It didn't have quite the effect he was expecting.

"You know Alvis, music is a very powerful thing.  People always gather round to listen.

"But look how quiet it is in here.  This place always seems to be deserted.  I wonder whether things would be different if there was entertainment provided, like live music."

"Or acrobatic shows.  Your juggling's getting really impressive."

As he'd hoped, the compliment turned the evening in a more romantic direction…

(If creepily.  They both spent the night asleep with their eyes wide open and their dreams disappearing into the headboard.  Ugh!)

"…And so, eventually, I'd like to buy the casino and improve it – swap out some of the slot machines for video games, maybe add bar games, certainly a professional bar.

"And above all, put in a stage for world-class performances to pull in the punters.

"We want to travel first, though – go to Starlight Shores.  With all those venues, it's the best place to work on our careers and get noticed.

"And meet other performers of course – hopefully get them interested in putting on shows here."

"Well, I'm not sure I'm interested in marriage any more, after Morgan…

  I spent about three Sim days trying to get the screenshots of Minnie and Opal talking, although they all came from the last session, as it turned out - and the divorce/wedding conversation was entirely spontaneous.  That wasn't even in my vague plan for the story.


Highways and Byways

Now that she had no-one left to train, Lotus turned her attention back to exploring.  She'd read about a mysterious chateau that sounded well worth her attention.  As soon as she'd unpacked after arriving in Champs les Sims, she drove out to have a look at it.

Oh yes!  This was certainly intriguing.

Finding her way through the booby traps and exploring all of the hidden rooms could keep her happily occupied for weeks .

Of course, Chateau Landgraab wasn't the only attraction...

She might well be looking at a very long stay in France .

(It even looks as though she's contemplating a small half-sibling for RR.)


Romeo had also been researching destinations.  A town where half the inhabitants were descended from pirates and some dressed to suit sounded like the sort of place where his fashion sense would blend in perfectly.

He flew out to Barnacle Bay, rented a small house and went out to meet the neighbours.

Well, only one neighbour, as it turned out.  He and Juliet Verona were so strongly attracted that he didn't get any further.

Instead, they chatted for a while and then he invited her out on a date.  He'd been longing to see the famous diner anyway.

After a seafood lunch, he presented her with a bouquet of red roses and took her to see a foreign film at the cinema.  Then they simply sat on a nearby bench, talking, unwilling for the evening to end.

"It's strange.  We've only just met but I have the strongest feeling that we belong together."
"Me too.  I – I feel as if I'm in a book.  Or maybe a play."

Then she gave him flowers (or were they the same ones he'd given her?  Yes, I'm a cynic .)  And they sat on the cold, hard paving, stargazing, well past midnight.

As soon as he was awake the following morning, Romeo rushed back over to Juliet's house.  This time she invited him in – and he saw her wallpaper.  They really were made for each other!  He asked her to go steady…

…and followed up almost immediately with a proposal.

After a brief flurry of preparation, they drove out to Pirate's Hideaway for the wedding of their dreams…

…before returning to the bride's house (and her wonderfully tasteful bedroom) for the wedding night.

With more spaces opening up in the household,  Minnie returned to the science lab to revive the remaining helpers.

It was hungry work .

(After the last lot, I was glad that these three got on perfectly amicably – although the distractions of Abrielle's laptop and Darren's book undoubtedly helped .)

By the end of the day they were all fully human and young again.

Darren settled back into this unexpected second life by going back to his roots and painting desert landscapes all day, helped by having lost his hatred of the outdoors.

Lennon fulfilled a long-held dream by setting off on a prolonged world tour, studying other cultures and cuisines (or having a nice long holiday with plenty of good food and drink, depending on your point of view.  He'd earned it, either way.)

Abrielle spent her first few days making the most of all the entertaining new objects that the family had acquired since her day.

"You know, Minnie, I think I concentrated too hard on work and skills the first time around."
"Well, I'm certainly grateful that you did.  We couldn't have succeeded without you."
"Yes, and I was well aware of that, of course.  But now I've got another chance, I think I should be having more fun – and maybe seeing what else life has to offer.  I was such a hopeless romantic as a teenager but that somehow got lost along the way."
"You were quite keen on Ethan Tanner, I seem to remember."
"I was – and I think it was mutual, although we never got as far as going out.  We're still no more than friends, despite all the times we met up and chatted as ghosts."
"So would you like to give romance another try?  I can ask the scientists to revive him, you know."
"Ye-es, I think so.  I'd certainly like his company, whatever happens."
"Come on then."

And so they stopped off at the family graveyard to collect Ethan's tombstone, before Minnie made yet another visit to the lab.

The next morning, Abrielle and Ethan met up for a late breakfast.  As they were loading their plates into the dishwasher, he stopped her.

"Abrielle, what are your plans?  I've always wanted to see more of the world.  I'd like to live somewhere greener."
"Me too.  I've been thinking I want to do things differently this time."
"So would you like to come with me – as my girlfriend?"

"Of course I would!"  And she kissed him, while the rest of the household tactfully pretended to be too busy making lunch to notice.

They moved to Riverview and started new jobs.  Abrielle became a scientist: after all, she already had most of the skills she needed.  She could take it easy at work and still be successful.  Ethan went into politics, hoping to achieve his lifetime wish someday.

But they made sure to leave time for hobbies and relaxation – and for each other.
