@Carl I love your videos. Your series on making a super sim, well is making me want to make a super sim. My idea of a super sim is a sim with all bonus traits, all aspirations completed, all careers maxed, all of everything mastered. All without cheating. I done it once years ago but much has been added since. For those wondering what videos I am taking about here they are:

I figured it will take 6 generations to do so. Three generations to raise the magic blood line to ancient, plus add alien DNA, obtain an island ancestor to have the Sulani Mana trait, and dad has to be Father Winter so the sim is Father Winter's baby. Then "Big Happy Family Aspiration" requires 4 grandchildren so that is two generations after my supersim. So 3 prep generations, plus the supersim, plus two generations after to complete the family aspirations means a single super sim is going to involve 6 generations of play.

It was much simpler a few years ago.

Has anyone done a modern super sim post making magic? Any hints you can add to make it faster? I will be relying heavily of Carls guides. I am thinking it will take about 3 to 6 months to do. Does anyone want updates? if so where do the belong. Warning that is a lot of play and I may get bored before completion. Plus new content could throw it off.

Anyway what does everyone think?

Hi, James Turner (Formally known as The Sim Supply), a Youtuber you may have heard of, started a Super Sim challenge quite a long time ago, it's been on hiatus for a while now, so he hasn't used any of the packs released in the last six months or so. However he did say in a recent video that he's bringing it back sometime soon, it might pay to keep an eye on his videos for some ideas, if you want to, that is. One difference is that he is only doing the challenge with one Sim, I'm not sure if that will change or not. (I don't think so)

I am quite fond of making super sims, and have started one post RoM. I'm also achievement hunting and completing all collections on this save.

To get instant Ancient Bloodline + Sulani Mana I had an elemental have a baby girl with Darrel Charm. His genes are a bit unfortunate though ::)
The girl then went ahead and had Father Winter's baby, and that's my super sim, Max. By setting the gender as male and checking "can get pregnant", Max can have babies via both woohoo and alien abduction.

He has Top Notch Toddler, Scouting Aptitude, completed all childhood aspirations and has all positive Character Values.
He's overMaxed both as a Spellcaster and Vampire, and switches between them occasionally. Vampire is better for skilling, Spellcaster for making money and mischief.

The next step is getting all distinguished degrees with honors, but I'm taking a break until they (hopefully) fix the bug with career rewards when changing branches: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INPUT-DU-Switching-Career-Branch-Rewards-Not-Unlocking/m-p/8626290#M119108

I also don't use cheats, but love me some cheesy exploits of game mechanics:
  • Re-traiting potions used on child/teen sims affect their character values. You can clone a few of them via copypasto/cloning machine and easily max out the values. See which traits affect which values here: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/gamepacks/parenthood/values.php
  • If you have an atrocious reputation, you can bribe your boss for a promotion for 1000 simoleons. Each attempt raises the performance bar a good chunk, there is no cooldown and so far it hasn't failed for me.
  • So far I haven't added alien blood to my super sims, as I like using the Alien Aura serum to give them temporary powers. With the serum you can transmute crystals/metals/elements without cooldown, which is great for completing collections.
  • For fast early Fame gain, the easiest way I found is to write a book, copypasto it several times and publish them all while using a Celestial Crystal Crown slotted with Diamond (you can buy it on the PC) and the Celebrity Home lot trait. After fame level 3 (and with good reputation), you can simply donate items to fans until maxing it
  • If like me you have a hard time creating a house worth 350k for Mansion Baron (what can I say, I have cheap tastes lol), money added to a vault counts towards property value. Adding and removing money from the vault is also an easy way for other household sims to complete Fabulously Wealthy.

That's all I remember for now. I'm definitely interested in seeing your take on it, if you're willing to post here ;D

I was inspired by Carl's videos too. I don't have the patience to max every career and aspiration with one sim though.

Mixing alien / father winter / magic is tricky. My supersim Lara is pure alien, but not magic. And I know my thinking-out-loud in my second post there was mistaken. I was preparing a Strong Bloodline sim for her to have a child with, but it won't work. The problem with any spellcaster + alien try for baby is:

- If spellcaster, then yes, it'll have an magic bloodline.
- If pure alien, it'll have no bloodline at all.

(And that's what I exploited to get a Father Winter's Alien. Lara has no magic bloodline, despite having a spellcaster dad.)

So that raises the question of what the best 50% alien would be? If an Ancient Bloodline sim gives up magic, then has a child with an alien, that'll work. That'll be a 50% alien (hopefully with colourful skin and pointy ears), the bloodline trait should decrease a level to "strong" (neither parent a spellcaster), and should be able to learn magic / vampirism.

@mousef Thanks for the link to the parenting traits / values. I'll remember Outgoing / Conflict Resolution in particular.

Thank you for the info on aliens and bloodlines. I tried a few different ways of getting a half alien Ancient Bloodline Sulani Mana Father Winter's baby (phew!)

The most reliable is the one you outlined above. I had an Elemental have a baby with Darrel Charm (Strong Bloodline), resulting in a spellcaster (Ancient Bloodline). He did the Rite of Dissolution and had babies with a pure alien, resulting 100% of the time in half aliens with Strong Bloodline. One of these half aliens then became a spellcaster and had some babies with Father Winter. Within my small sample size 60% of their kids were half aliens and 40% humans, all of them with Ancient Bloodline.

Weirdly enough, when I had a half alien spellcaster with no bloodline have babies with Darrel Charm after he took the Rite of Dissolution, the kids had no bloodline at all, regardless of being human/spellcaster or half alien.

It seems half aliens can suntan even if they have colorful skin. I don't see any physical difference, but it's enough to get the moodlet and complete Beach Life ;)

Sorry it took so long to respond. Life happened and I got distracted. Some thing trump a game sadly.

I had little issue getting my ancient bloodline/Sulani Mana/father winter's baby/half-alien kid. Except I bread the strong bloodline myself, I did it similarly to the method listed above. The kid was ugly so I had to use cas so I could stand to use it. I haven't progressed further do to life being what it is right now. I am excited about the new pack adding a new skill doubler for tiny homes.

Broken skill gains will help a lot.

Lets see:
   Base                                100%
   Top Notch Toddler               25%
   Tiny house bonus              100%
   Study space bonus              25%
   Quick learner                      10%
   Scouting Aptitude                25%
   Child Aspirations                  25%
   Very correct emotion up to   60%
   Savant                                25%
   Morning Sim/Night Owl         10%
   Crystal Crown       up to        50%
   Potion of the Nimble Mind     50%

So skill gains can get as high as 495% of base if my math is correct. Note some buffs are time of day dependant and some skills don't get things like the Crystal Crown, Child Aspirations and similar bonuses and some bonuses have limits on how long they can be maintained so such skill gains will not always be possible, but still skilling isn't the chore it used be. But if done right the base skill rate gain at home should be at least 285% of normal for all skills and most skills at 310% of normal. This is before all mood bonuses, time of day bonuses, potions or using the crown.

Am I missing any skill gain buffs?

I can't wait as one goal is to get that 495% skill gain rate. That seems broken.

Thanks for the list, having the percentages is very helpful.

Am I missing any skill gain buffs?

Being near a parent with the Patriach/Matriarch reward trait (from the Big Happy Family aspiration) - 100% (works on toddlers, useful to get Top Notch faster)
Celebuserum - 20% (has nice secondary effects though)
Relevant lot traits (Great Acoustics, Fast Internet etc.) - 50%
Vampire with lvl3 Child of the Night perk - 100% (at night, obviously)
Neutral outcome when wishing for skill at the Wishing Well - 50% (positive outcome gives a few points and overwhelmingly positive maxes a random skill)
Skill Day surprise holiday - 100% (outside of our control, just adding for completion sake)
Edited to add:
Club perks - 150% while in a club meeting

At some point it gets silly to stack so many buffs, as it takes longer to set it all up than to max a skill.
It's a lot of fun though ;D

Since I'm also planning on completing all careers with my super sim, I though compiling a list of ways to boost work performance would be useful too.

These add a modifier to job performance which varies for different careers and levels.
They're ordered (roughly) by effectiveness.
  • "Very" Emotion
  • Loved by Sprites (Secret Society buff)
  • Relevant Distinguished Degree
  • Work Hard
  • Crystal Crown w/ Hematite
  • Responsible trait
  • Request Career Success (Mother Plant)
  • Career Hopper fame perk
  • Networked Club perk
  • Drinking Espresso

These interactions give a one time boost to the performance bar.
All of them have a a cooldown and a chance of backfiring, except for the first one.
  • Bribe Boss for Promotion (Atrocious reputation)
  • Hack Work Performance (Programming lvl 8)
  • Convince Boss to Give Bonus (Research and Debate lvl 8)
  • Negotiate Promotion (Charisma lvl 10)
  • Represent Friend/Anyone (Social Media PR career lvl 5/10) - must be done by another sim
  • Wishing Well: instant promotion if overwhelmingly positive, fills up the performance bar if positive.
If anyone knows some boosts I've missed, please feel free to add them to the list.

You missed the most obvious, Degrees, especially Distinguished Degrees with honors. Start on level 7 or 8, job growth boost, more time off if wanted.

It's already number 3 on the list.
It's in this position because, after the initial boost, a degree has less effect on performance than "Very" emotion and the Sprites thing.

So hey, saw this pop up and forgot to come back to say something. All in all, I don't think I'd ever master every career... way way too long a save file for my taste, especially for a LP. I am fence sitting about degrees, though I think I like the idea of boosts you just keep vs having to continually refresh them or deal with annoyances like the sprites.

Overall I think you can only go so far with career boosts. With a degree you'll have a big gain to performance, very emotion, top notch toddler, these are all going to stack to the point you almost always get promotions but I haven't tested. I just think at some point you'll see diminishing returns on those gains. Like, maybe it's not every shift = promotion but you will always be capped at 1 per shift. The way I see it, if you are stuck at a promotion every 2 shifts but can't get it to a promotion every 1 shift even with more boosts, it's barely worth the trouble. So I'm kind of playing within those kind of boundaries and plan to see where that line is drawn before I consider careers or not!

That's my thinking for doing a LP but not necessarily how I might approach it if I wanted to max every single thing in the game. It's a lot different recording it. I think connections is already really reliable so don't know if I would bother with more than a couple degrees - assuming you have other boosts to career performance starting beyond the first few levels is already pretty good vs going for 2+ semesters per degree (as after the first you only need 2 weeks) to get 4 more levels shaved off a promotion for a career (degree vs connections). I think you'd have a faster go at just maxing the careers with enough boosts without the degree :) Club + top notch + connections and emotional boosts are already very attainable, after all.

And an update on my own attempt. Lillie is nearly done. There are some collections to complete, a few careers to conquer, and a few degrees to earn, but everything else is done. It will take me a while to finish her as she is increasingly boring to play with no needs to manage,  no nothing but collage and collecting. or career and collecting. I enjoyed the child and teen years the most as Lillie wasn't yet broken. Also her save file is causing glitches as it is stupid big. So I will get her there but It will be done. All in all it was fun to do but I will likely wait until 6 or so new packs before doing another true super sim.
