Chapter 14

"We'll figure this out, okay?" William said.

"Do you think Lilly will be happy?" I asked.

"I think that she will be thrilled."

This morning confirmed my suspicions, I was indeed pregnant. We never talked about it yet alone planned it, but it was happening whether we were ready or not.

"Are you happy?" I finally asked.

"I am so excited." He grinned.

"Should we go tell her?" I asked him.

He nodded and grabbed my hand.

"Lilly, can you come out here please?" William called.

She emerged from her room a moment later.

"Yes daddy?" She asked.

"Come sit down." He told her.

We all sat down on the couch.

"We have some news to tell you." He began.

She looked up at him intrigued.

"Emma is pregnant, you're going to be a big sister!"

"Another baby?" She asked.

"Yeah! How exciting is that?" I asked.

She turned to look at me, "Oh, okay."

I looked at William for a second.

"Can I go now?" She asked.

"Uh, um. Sure sweetie." I said.

She hopped off the couch and went back into her room.

"That was not the reaction I was expecting." William told me.

"I'll go see what is wrong." I told him.

By the time that I walked into her room she was slinging her pink suitcase onto her bed.

"Lilly? What are you doing?" I asked.

She didn't answer me, instead she got a few toys and put them into the suitcase. She walked over to her cabinet and grabbed a pile of clothes before stuffing them into the suitcase as well.

"Lilly, tell me what is wrong please."

"I'm being replaced." She whispered.

"What?!"

"You're having a new baby, you guys don't need me anymore."

My heart broke.

"Lilly, stop, stop packing. Come here."

I motioned her to sit on the bed.

"What made you think that you were being replaced?" I asked her.

"This girl in my class, her parents just had a baby and she told me that they don't have time for her now. She said once a baby comes it is the replacement. So I figured I'd move out to give the baby my room." She admitted.

"Oh honey," I pulled her into a hug, "You are in no way being replaced! This is just one more person to love. Besides, I'm going to need a lot of help!"

"You are?" She asked.

"For sure! You're going to be my partner in crime! You are going to be the best big sister the world has ever seen."

She cracked a smile.

"As far as the room situation, we will probably have to move unfortunately."

"It could be a new adventure!" She beamed.

"That's the spirit, so what do you say? Are you staying?"

"Yeah!"

"Well that's good."

I gave her a big hug.

...

"She thought she was being replaced?" William asked.

"Yeah, it was pretty heart breaking." I admitted.

"We're just going to have to make sure to give her the same amount of attention, if not a little more." He told me.

"I can't believe her classmate." I sneered.

"Easy tiger, kids have a wild imagination."

Lilly came into the kitchen.

"Hey sweetie." I said.

"Can Damion come over tomorrow after school?" She asked.

"And who is Damion?" William asked.

"My best friend, we've been talking for months now."

I could feel William tense up besides me.

"Sure honey!" I answered for me.

"Awesome!"

She ran out of the room.

"Damion?!" He gasped.

"Easy tiger." I giggled.

He didn't find me using his own words against him funny.

"She's going to be a teenager in a few days, you're telling me this Damion kid could be more than a friend?"

I laughed at his comment.

The next day Damion was over, it was also Winter which I was not looking forward too.

"You must be Damion." I said.

"Hello!" He greeted.

"What are you guys going to do?" I asked.

"We're going to build a snowman!" Lilly said.

"Nice!"

William was stuck at the school so he was anxiously texting me wondering about Damion.

He seems nice! -E

Nice, nice until they grow up. -W

They're kids Will, he can't do anything to her. -E

She's a teenager in a few days, and he's roughly around her age. -W

Someone is protective. -E

She's my baby. -W

I know sweetie. -E

It was rather cute how worried he was about her. I took a peek out of the window at the kids.

By the time that they were done it turned out to be a rock star snowman. They came inside after it was finished and I made them hot chocolate while they picked a movie to watch on TV. William came home and I swear he was glued to the wall in the living room just watching them. I tried to get him to come into the kitchen, but he just wouldn't budge. He lasted about another hour before telling Damion he had to go home now because Lilly had homework.

...

The second trimester came and I suddenly popped.

"Look how big I am!" I said.

"You look beautiful." William told me.

He smiled and placed his hands on my belly.

"Can I feel too?!" Lilly asked.

"Of course!"

The baby kicked at Lilly's hands and she giggled.

"They like me!" She cheered.

"They do!" I smiled.

Lilly giggled as she sat back on the couch.

"I love you." William said.

"I love you too." I told him.

He pulled away from the kiss and smiled at me.

How did I become so lucky?

Baby on the way!

Chapter Fifteen

"I can't find anything in this house!" Lilly groaned.

"They're by the door!" I told her.

She growled as she walked towards the front door.

"Honey, where is my bag?!" William asked.

"Where you left it, next to the door in the bedroom." I instructed.

I looked at my feet to the cat crying at my feet.

"Lilly! Lulu is crying for food." I called.

"Coming!"

The house was in full chaos.

"Damion, you're going to be late!" I hollered.

"I'm ready!" He called back.

I stood in the middle of the room as I watched everyone scurry around as they got ready for their day. Right on schedule, a cry came from upstairs as the baby woke up.

"I got it!" William offered.

"Thank you babe." I smiled.

I hurried over to the island and grabbed two sack lunches before handing them to Lilly and Damion.

"Now, remember the rules. Straight home to do homework, and then plans afterwards, got it?" I reminded them.

"Got it." They agreed.

I nodded.

"Have a good day!"

They headed out the door to meet the school bus.

"He was hungry." William said as he walked back downstairs.

"Thank you for taking care of that." I said.

"No problem. Now off to work!" He said.

I gave him a kiss goodbye before he left for work. I took a big breath and let it out, I was exhausted. I had a bit of time off of work after having the baby, and I was thankful because life had suddenly blew up. To make all of this make any kind of sense I would have to travel back a few months...

A Few Months Ago

"This is it!" William said, as the taxi pulled up.

"We can't afford this!" I gasped.

"I talked to the bank, we're going to be fine." He assured.

We all climbed out of the car, William practically had to pull me out because the third semester had hit like a wrecking ball. I sure did look like a human wrecking ball now, so every day things were getting much harder to do. We stood in front of this magnificent house and I looked at it for a moment.

"This is great!" Lilly said.

"Are you sure?" I asked William.

"Positive." He smiled.

"Wow."

"Oh my god!" Lilly cried.

"What?! What's wrong?!" William asked, worried.

"Look!" She said, pointing at the ground.

Before us lay a kitten, it hadn't been there before so it must of walked up as we all were gaping at the house.

"It's so small!" I said.

"Daddy!" Lilly said.

"Oh no..." William said, knowing what was going to happen.

"It's cold and lonely! It needs a home." She whined.

William looked at me, and we silently communicated for a moment.

"Fine, but if it doesn't work out then it has to go to a shelter." William gave in.

"Thank you!!" She gasped.

She scooped up the cat as we walked inside, and let me just say the inside was just as beautiful as outside, if not more.

Thankfully since I was heavily pregnant I got to miss out on the unpacking adventures which took a few days to finish it all. The house came with all of the furniture because the previous owners just wanted to be rid of it. It didn't make any sense to me, but I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

"My room is awesome!!" Lilly squealed.

William giggled.

Shortly before moving we celebrated Lilly's birthday. Welcome teenage years!

Much to Williams dismay she spent a lot of her time on the phone with Damion. Also to his dismay, their budding friendship was turning into more than just friends. I swear William was going to have a coronary every time she would giggle at something Damion sent. It was quite a funny thing to experience from my point of view.

"Here is your water." William said.

"Three ice cubes?" I asked.

"Three ice cubes." He assured.

I smiled as I took the glass. He sat on the couch and re-fluffed my pillow that my feet were resting on.

"Are you comfortable?" He asked.

"As comfortable as I can be." I giggled.

...

"I've decided what I want to do." Lilly said.

"Oh yeah?" William asked.

"I think I wanna be a singer!" She told us.

"That's exciting." I told her, as I scooped some cereal into my spoon.

"I've been talking to Damion about it."

Insert automatic William groan.

"Daaaaddy. I like him." Lilly said.

"I don't." He huffed.

I rolled my eyes, "Ignore him."

"So, can we go shopping today for a microphone?" She asked.

"Baby girl, we can go shopping for everything you need." William smiled.

"Awesome!"

Hours later we were home, and she had more equipment than a professional singer.

"I'm going to go practice!" She squealed.

I giggled.

"Did I go overboard?" William asked.

"I don't think so." I reassured him.

"Okay, good."

I smiled and grabbed his hands.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"I am ready to have this baby." I admitted.

"Awww, soon."

"Oh no, this baby has decided to stay in there permanently."

He giggled.

"Where is Lulu?" I asked.

Lilly had decided to name the cat Lulu shortly after we found out that it was a girl. She was the sweetest cat I've ever met and all she wanted was to be loved.

"I think she is in her bed." William told me.

I walked over, and sure enough she was laying in her little cat tent.

"What are you doing in there little one?" I asked.

She just looked up at me.

"You're so cute!"

A week had passed and still no baby.

"It's never coming out." I cried.

"Don't cry, it's going to come out." William assured.

"No it's not!!"

I was literally sitting in the middle of the floor and full on sobbing.

"Oh- um, this is not the right time to ask." Lilly asked, coming in and seeing what was going on.

"Ask what?" William asked.

"No, I'll come back later."

I sniffled and looked up at her, "What do you need?"

"Mama, can we help you off the ground?" She asked.

I sniffled again before nodding.

"Note she called you mama, she wants something big." William whispered.

I gasped in pain as they hoisted me to my feet.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, let's sit."

We sat on the couch.

"So, what is up?" I asked, wiping my face with some tissues.

"Damion got kicked out of his house." She started, not wasting time.

"For what?" William asked.

"His mom lost her mind and told him he was sick of him just mooching off of her. She's never been all the way there, you know? His father died when he was little, and he thinks that she never fully recovered." She told us.

"That's horrible." I gasped.

"Yeah, it's really beating him up."

"And what can we do?" William asked.

"Can he move in here?" She asked.

"No, absolutely not." He snapped.

"William, let's hear her out." I told him.

He gaped at me.

"He's willing to anything! Even get a job!" She told us.

"I understand that Lilly, but your mother is about to pop this baby out! We have a cat! This house is only so big."

"Daddy that isn't fair and you know it! There's plenty of room!"

"Lilly, give your father and I some time and we will discuss it."

She nodded.

After hours and hours of discussion, and maybe some pregnancy hormones effecting it, we had finally reached a decision. Damion was going to be allowed to move in on two conditions: he must get an after school job, and he is not to sleep in Lilly's room at all. We didn't even want him on the same floor as her, so we sold all of the gym equipment and gave him that room. He brought what he had with him, which wasn't that much. He had a inflatable bed (a little strange that someone would let their kid sleep on that for years), a computer desk, and a chair. I felt bad because it was such a big room and he had so little stuff but he said he was just thankful for us allowing him to be here.

...

"Hey little one, you need to come out, okay?" William cooed.

I was having such bad back aches today, "Listen to your daddy."

William rubbed my stomach, and I closed my eyes smiling. That was until a sharp pain came.

"OW!" I hissed.

"Emma?!"

Another one came and almost sent me to my knees, before I knew it a gush of water trickled down my legs.

"Oh no, I think my water just broke." I gasped.

"The baby is coming?" He asked.

"The baby is coming!" I said.

"LILLY!" William yelled, going in to panic mode.

She came running in.

"WHAT?!"

"Your mother is having the baby! We need to go to the hospital, can you watch the house?" He asked.

"Yes! YES! Go!" She gasped.

"And NO funny business!" He warned, mainly looking at Damion.

"Daaaaad." Lilly groaned.

The next day, after a very long labor and delivery, we walked through the door of the house with a baby in my arms.

"Oh my god!" Lilly cooed.

William smiled as he closed the front door.

"Lilly, I would like to introduce you to your baby brother." I whispered.

"A boy?!" She gasped.

I smiled while nodding.

"What's his name?"

"Ezra." William told her.

"Hi Ezra!"

My life was whole.

Present Day

So, that's how my life became so hectic.

I walked upstairs to the nursery where Ezra was laying and staring up at his mobile.

"Hey baby boy." I said, scooping him up.

I rocked him back and forth and he cooed silently.

"Just you and I, we can do this, right?" I asked him.

Meow!

"Oh, and you Lulu!" I giggled.

I was a little overwhelmed with the new house, the cat, Damion living here, and Ezra being here, but I hoped that I would get the hang of things soon.

Holy crazy house! Welcome baby Ezra AND Lulu!
