Good gracious but that was a hilarious wedding, aside from "best-laid plans" and all that.
The arch-within-an-arch was quite a stunning look.

As for wedding caterers, you may remember that mine baked a cake which, upon the groom's completion of the "Take first piece" action resulted in sims breaking out into the birthday song and spinning nosemakers.
I don't think we can blame the small kitchen--I think the wedding catering still isn't fixed. Hmmpph!

Dennis in his PJs ready for the big wedding night. What are all the other women doing there, waving as if they'd never met Dennis?
I love how Scarlet and Dennis are scrounging by on the brink of total poverty, but with maze hedging. :)

They're actually waving goodbye at the end of the event. Dennis had gone to sleep in a bedroom full of guests. With the Murphy bed down, there's not a whole lot of space there.

I had my doubts about the catering working, but when you've only got two sims and they're bride and groom, there's not much choice. At least she cleaned up the dishes.

Priorities, right? :) Wow but that hedge maze is expensive!

Too funny about the Murphy Bed. But of course!
Up until that botched wedding with the caterer, I'd always had the heir bake a cake right before starting the wedding.
A tiered cake if possible. If not, a plain white cake is still better than birthday singing without the "feeding each other cake" screenie. :)

I'm not worried about Scarlet and Dennis who will soon be swimming in money fruit.

I've been meaning to get to this since you started and I finally made my way through. Your gameplay is so different from mine, but I love it. Introvert that I am, I hate the fame and never play with it turned on, so it's interesting to see someone who actually enjoys it. Anyway, now I'm hooked on this and am looking forward to more. I'm entertaining using premades for my next project and I always enjoy stories that make use of those Sims in interesting ways, which you are certainly doing.

And, for what it's worth, I noticed the double Dynasty title quite some time ago. Brit Lit major and all, what?

Oh I am legitimately all the introvert, impossibly withdrawn, the last to be social, who learned human feeling from Dickens. Thank you much for this. When I discovered Easy Street, that was it, Fame won me over. And the Starlight Awards are a rare occasion to justify getting into a tux.

I'll end up with a family tree full of interesting premades, and I consciously thought it'll make it more interesting to share because throughout there'll be sims that readers recognize. We all have Dennis Kim, and the Landgraabs, and those are points of contact. It's more familiar. So yeah, go for it.

I used your money in the vault tip to complete Mansion Baron tonight. Game changing! No endless crafting or losing money due to instant depreciation. Vaults for all!

About the potions disappearing after the household split, I handled it this way:
(1) Magical tomes: Whenever the active household visits Magic HQ, they go to Casters Alley to buy tomes for potion recipes.
Also search for potion recipes in the Magic HQ's bookshelves.
(2) Before moving out: my spellcaster only learns spells but never learns a single potion recipe (because they have access to their parents' collection).
The heir should be at least Master rank upon moving out.
(3) After moving out: the new heir can learn potion recipes from Experimenting, asking the sages, buying potion recipes at Casters Alley, or reading the tomes in the homes of other family members.
Every method of learning a potion recipe will give a sample potion.

This way, every new heir could rebuild their potion collection faster than if they'd moved out knowing all the potion recipes but having to gather all the ingredients.

Oh, wow!  I hadn't seen this tip before, and in fact, I wasn't even aware of the vault or what it did.  But I found it and did a quick play test, and that's awesome!  Now I don't have to stuff my house with expensive junk I don't even want, trying to jack up the value.  Mansion Baron is a great way to give your second generation a big boost, just switch their aspiration as soon as their done aging up to Teen and there's a big chunk of satisfaction points.

@Brian_Z

Be aware that if it affects lot value, the money will also jack up your bills. Remove the money from the vault on Sunday before the bills come if you want to preserve your cash. 😉

Yes. I've got a house paying 80k a week in bills! (the Eugenics II chateau) I think there's a neat $1m in the vault. But if you can do Mansion Baron, you can probably do Fab Wealth for the Shrewd reward trait which helps pay the bills, so it all works out.

It would've been good for Scarlet to get Mansion Baron done as a teen, for the Thrifty reward trait. It would've helped now. Actually, of the two fortune aspirations, Mansion Baron is the one I seldom do. My go-to easy aspiration is the other one, Fab Wealth. I like having a fair number of perfect money trees so that a new teen sim can complete Fab Wealth in a day or two. For the satisfaction points. Like you say, it's gives a sim a good boost. This current house doesn't have perfect money trees because Scarlet doesn't have Sulani Mana. The one lonely tree we have is just level 1. Mansion Baron, even with a vault, will be hard too. Just to grind out the 350k will take some time. And no sim can have a clear conscience completing that aspiration for a mansion with a 64 tile house. The game should recognize when we spam windows and columns, then delete them, and hit the sim with a week long embarassed "Obviously not a mansion" moodlet. Especially when it's a Tiny Living lot. And there's a lot of dry humour in the game. So devs, if you see this...

Little Ariadne has been a toddler for like 2 days and has maxed skills already. Utter madness. I'm not going to rush to age her up though, because the longer it takes for her to hit teen, the better the money trees will be. And yet I'm desperate to see how much of Dennis she has in her.

The Dynasty of Original Townies Dynasty. 22.
« Reply #85 on: February 28, 2020, 09:23:17 AM »
In this episode, Scarlet makes a mess* in the office.

*It was necessary, and you forgive her. Because you're sweet. And how do we know if making a mess is objectively wrong? Why is the sky blue? Why is the fridge cold? How will we ever know. Some questions aren't answerable.

So she's still detecting. She been on the cusp of level 4 for ages, and finally free from the tutorial, she can finally do the interrogation and get promoted. This is a very big effort just for a flipping gate at the basketball court. But here we are. And Ariadne is skilling up so fast that her development is in no way stunted by me not being on the home lot managing her.

Seriously though, hug your kids or they'll be psychopaths. They might be anyway. But hey, at least you tried right? Sometimes the tangents in this thread are very exciting. I have no idea what Fun we'll have until I write it.

There's Scarlet making a mess. What a picture. Incidentally, she has 42 traits at the moment. No need reducing / need eliminating traits, I'm totally with Carl on that. Watch the SuperSim videos!

And with her promotion, we have a fully enclosed basketball court. Gates to match the fence. Awesome.

I've just noticed as I write this up that the piano is still there. I did move it to storage, don't worry. If you don't have a tendency to worry, then I needn't have said anything. Right. And we don't want this to become awkward. So. Yeah. Okay.

We have the final gen 3 kid of the dynasty as a toddler.

So she has her dad's colouring at any rate. Hmm.

On days when mum had solved enough cases and didn't need my hand-holding to get promoted, dad stays home with Ariadne to tutor her.

And when she's asleep, Dennis makes garden pots for money trees. I'm not sure if I'll use them. The wedding paraphernalia is gone, fountains are there, more climbing rose arches. The money tree row was shortened by two tiles. It sticks out too much in the picture above.

"Is that a skating rink?" you ask.

Why yes. It is a skating rink. It's been in the family inventory gathering dust since they moved in. I was idly wondering what might fit there. And instead of it gathering dust, and getting no value from it, it might as well be used.

"But... it's not winter any more. It's spring."

I am aware. And I'm clearly not even remotely bothered. But then, you knew that. As an aside, if you google "QI What Was The First Ice Rink Made From?" you can learn a fun fact.

I did not know that.

Scarlet found time to go to the Magic Realm because I need her to copypasto the money trees. Dennis actually brought a potion of immortality and potion of rejuvenation with him in his inventory. So for the purpose of making Ariadne an immortal upon her YA birthday, copypasto is all we actually need.

Her welcoming committee includes gasping sages and Dina Caliente. Also... that's our Ava Landgraab.

A symmetrical duel for artifacts.

I don't roleplay this much. Scarlet has no magic outfit. Jeans and shirt is fine. I'm also too cheap to buy her a wand. She can win one! (Not this time though. She won a mop.) Does anyone know if a rare wand actually improves dueling?

With Ariadne already level 5 in all skills after 2 days, Scarlet is carrying on with Detecting. Those boots gave it away. Never mind the APB checklist.

So, did you do it? (She did it. Obviously I'm not going to arrest the wrong sim just for laughs.)

Apparently he had it coming; he only had himself to blame. And if you had been there, if you had heard it, I bet that you would have done the same.

Friday, week 18. Spice festival.

Each new household seems to forget the unlocks of other households. This is fine, because it gives one a reason to keep going to the festivals. Scarlet is Curry Champion. Dennis isn't. Scarlet has had Chopstick Savvy for a while, but getting Spice Hound is -- was -- proving more difficult. She has it now. I'd like Dennis to pick up those traits. At home he's wearing the curry champion t-shirt his wife won. For motivation.

That evening, with Scarlet sufficiently tired, she finally dozed off to complete Beach Life. When a paparazzo arrived, I had to take a picture and I can't decide which is best, so here's two!

From yet another angle I could get the reflection of the moon in the pool.

*Edited to add: Note that somehow her shirt changes between pictures, while paused. I hope Scarlet really can stop time while she changes outside, because the paparazzo clearly got a picture.

With Scarlet's promotion to Sargeant she unlocked some decor items I've never ever used. So... I'll use them.

She's level 6, and I'll persevere to the end. There's a really nice computer and desk to be unlocked in the detective career, and I always wish I had it, but never want the hassle of actually doing the career. Where would the desk go in a Tiny House? In the fullness of time Ariadne will move out, and I'll put it there.

For now, the immediate goal is Scarlet leveling up magic.

That's easily one of my favourite magic pictures. It's so full of movement and expression.

That final picture is just before 6pm Sunday, so we could head off to the Starlight Awards next episode. Ariadne should age up as well. That could be interesting.

It looks like Ariadne didn't inherit her father's frown as a toddler. Her eyes are quite pretty.
Crossing my fingers things stay that way upon her birthday day!

I laughed that Dennis wears the Spice Champion T-shirt at home. Whose idea was that? LOL
Are bills on that most ritzy of ritzy Tiny Houses still manageable?

Last time bills were about 4k. But they'll be able to harvest the money tree for the first time on the next in-game day. Current lot value is $173,705 which is a bit crazy. Where has all that money gone? I like the idea of a tiny home surrounded by formal gardens, but I'm not sure I've got it completely right. With Scarlet's detective decor items it looks like municipal offices.

Now that we've seen her colouring, I can start to think about a premade man who isn't a match either on hair or eyes. One of the Munches?

After completing Scarlet's house, I think next stop will be Hobart and Geeta in StrangerVille. Then Ava. She'll begin by going to university, and she'll need a man, and probably rescue dear ghostly angelic-faced Cameron Fletcher who lives in Britechester. Unless I get distracted by another idea.

Probably Scarlet's idea. Whenever some asks Dennis about it, he has to say who really won it. ;p And she likes that.

What about Izzy Fabulous? I just finished a new Resident & Lot Info thread on Get Famous, so he's fresh on my mind.
Or do mean the more old-school premades? Like go crazy and choose Wolfgang?

I like that thinking. I have preserved him, and never played him. Wiki says he has green eyes, so I'm all for that. I used Wolfie in Eugenics II, so I'd prefer a sim I haven't played. Izzy and a few other premades are particularly invisible for not being housed.
