In this exciting episode, the house gets a new roof (it's less exciting than I make it sound, it's the enthusiasm in my voice that has unfairly raised your Hopes of entertainment), and Nancy has a baby Mini Landgraab. I may or may not have forgotten the name of this baby.

-----

The pictures go back to late December 2019, but sharing the Father Winter's Alien overtook this. So I don't get too far ahead, lets jump in.

Pregnant Nancy.

Aidan in the kitchen. Only room for two bar stools here, but that's fine because I'd rather have a sim wander to the dining room.

I'm quite fond of the parquet flooring. There are two large bedrooms, with odd shaped en suite bathrooms, and three skill rooms. This floor is less developed than the ground floor, and right now sims don't spend much time up here.

We're approaching Winterfest now, week 13. Nancy and Aidan married at dawn on Monday, and then tried for baby. This is normal lifespan and seasons. One week a season makes it easy to keep track of.

I had decided the roof needed to be larger, and this was the first attempt. Hey, I show my mistakes and working out. This is based on Vacuous Green, for those who've seen that house, but because of how I've done the conservatories (?)(the round rooms with glass roofs and lots of windows) differently, the dimensions of the house have changed. It's especially noticeable with the chimneys. So keep the above in mind, because shortly there's the revised edition. Or not. If you're thinking in about other things (I find that adding garlic to the dough doesn't really add anything) that's okay too.

I wish I remember what was going on with Nancy here.

The same moment as above, from a different perspective:

The roofline now looks more normal.

Hobart does homework.

And me lining up a nice symmetrical picture, because it's pretty. There's now an attic with skylights. It's inaccessible. But it's there.

Aidan in the magic room, and he needs to pursue magic in earnest to get the potion of immortality.

He has 8 out of 15. At time of writing I can say he has learned one more, Rejuvenation.

Father Winter arrived...

... and got too cozy with Nancy...

... and Aidan set him on fire.

House progress: Hobart needed somewhere to do his Whiz Kid science table things, and a focus / gaming room was thrown together upstairs.

Finally, it's time for a dynasty child from an original townie.

Miss Ava Landgraab! Delivered by Doctor Paka'a who is permanently a ghost after an accident with a potion of immortality. It's still immortality, right? I don't have to feel bad about this one right?

Non-preggers Nancy got abducted.

In the corner you can see a small money tree growing. Frankly, they're necessary to pay the bills. When Nancy arrived, she brought about 200k with her. Okay, some of it was used to furnish the house, but not much, and Aidan has been painting too. Yet the Funds have decreased to 120k, because bills.

Nancy holds her own kava party. A very genteel kava party. She's going Beach Life and Nerd Brain (which she's powering through with her husband's Snaggle Flusters). She's had a fairly uninteresting life until now, and needs aspiration points to get some of the traits that every good sim ought to have.

Beach Life has become a staple of my simming. Why pay for Carefree, when you can earn a trait that does the same thing, and more satisfaction along the way?

Aidan started the mixology career at level 6 with his certificate, and with his 5-star fame giving him an easy ride he has already reached level 10. With Nancy's prodding, and the inspiration of his alien son Hobart, he's re-enrolling at university.

I made a bit of a mistake I think. He has 7/12 credits, which to my knowledge means two terms at uni. I should have split it 3 classes and 2 classes, but I wasn't thinking in this moment and he signed up for 4. Which will leave him on 11 credits. His final term is going to be rather dull with just one class.

The family went to a Romance festival because I like learning recipes and collecting posters and t-shirts.

Hobart met grandma Kari.

And her autographed picture is in the formal lounge. I think this is something I'd like to do in all houses. Scarlet is also a 5-star celebrity and I think young Ava might just want a picture of her glorious aunt.

And a charming way to end off winter, with something I didn't expect: snow in Del Sol Valley!

What a palatial house! I love its double conservatories and the airy feel of the cauldron room!
LOL, when I saw Nancy snuggling up to Father Winter, I immediately jumped to the conclusion that the household would soon be joined by another Father's Winter Child.
Aidan setting FW on fire cracked me up!

Huh, more uni for Aidan? What campus life will he pursue next? I'm dying to know.

Oh, this will be a disappointment. Not campus life. He'll complete the art degree he began, but from home. I can't leave it unfinished. It's also a test / cautionary tale about doing degrees from home, because sims are more likely to be late for class.

I particularly like the sunken courtyard. The floor pattern is not too cluttered. Yes it's a lovely two-bedroom house! (Three if we count the nursery!) I've only got such spacious rooms because it's a one generation house. I see all the love for tiny houses, and I reckon these mansions are cozy too. How does young Hobart not get a bonus to his ego for living like this?

Contains Toddler.

More of the Fancy House too, yes. But! You're here for Ava, because she's born, but what does she look like? She's a sim. With arms and legs and hair and everything.

There's more of mum than dad, so far.

"Hey Aidan, I've been thinking of a tiny house."

"Like, how tiny?"

"Really tiny. Gotta ditch the kids."

"Cool. Done."

"I hope you were joking, I was joking."

And they laughed and laughed, and weren't even slightly tempted to give up their palace and live in a house smaller than this room.

"But Brussel Sprout*, tell me it's not just because you think if you ditch the kids and run away to a hut in the woods you're getting your juice keg back. We're not getting the juice keg back."

*seen as the interior lives of Sims are inaccessible, and Nancy is a peculiar one, we can only only guess as to the vegetable themed pet names they might have for each other .

Oh, Sim fashion. Let's play Guess The Townie:

That is Octavia Moon. Well, when it's cold you want gloves. So you wear gloves. Pink opera gloves. Obviously.

Nancy's kava party as seen last episode didn't count toward her aspiration because I had switched away from that aspiration as the party ended. So when Hobart was at school and Aidan at university class, she went to Sulani (she had to go anyway to buy a coconut) and had a party on the beach with some familiar faces.

Kari does a good, raised quizzical eyebrow "seriously? you're cooking, Nancy?" expression. As you see in the bottom picture, Aidan arrived after his class. Scarlet is also there, her back to camera. No, the elder sim on the left with the Magnificent Beard wasn't dying of hysteria.

Yeah... Aidan is at the kava juice bowl.

Back at the ranch (not an actual ranch) (not least because it's a collection of pixels), Nancy and Aidan's bedroom got a thrilling makeover.

I've long swooned over the Realm of Magic beds. The ability to upgrade them makes them actually usable, and I don't have to feel I'm sacrificing a decent sleep to get a fancy looking bed that actually has rubbish stats. Why does it have such rubbish stats? It looks really fancy.

Because the pool looks good of a morning:

And of course little Ava had to waddle all the way down many stairs to be with other sims. So, sigh, I brought her nesting blocks to her, rather than send her back to the nursery actually designed for her. At least she'll learn movement quickly in this house.

Hobart is already a Gold Scout, and he's left that and joined drama, but he wasn't raised here and has no toddler trait. Ava is my first time trying to raise a toddler in this house, and it comes right after testing the crazy skill bonuses in a Tiny Living house that do affect toddlers.

When he's not doing university coursework or at class or cleaning up after the kids or potty training or mixing Nancy a Snaggle Fluster...

... Aidan is in the magic room leveling up. Nancy completed Nerd Brain (I'm *so* thrilled to have a sim with the Handy trait), and while she was doing that she found an Unidentified Fruit Object on a space mission. I don't think we need it, but it grows there. Hobart and Aidan use their Sulani magic to improve it.

Next time should see Hobart as a teen and Ava as a child, unless some extraordinary amount of things happen that require documentation.

Ava is very pretty!
Why would Nancy be thinking of a tiny house? Isn't that palace the home of Aidan and Nancy?
Hobart gets a tiny house. Say yes!

Seeing Kari out of context of her own house reminds me just how beautiful your founder is!
Looking forward to the birthdays of Hobart and Ava!

Nancy is only thinking of tiny houses in a patronizing, superior, ironic way because she's a Landgraab. And as cute as a 32 tile house is, its only 32 tiles. There's not much to see or do. Sims can brag about their tiny home, and let's say Aidan and Nancy have heard these boasts around town. Or Hobart heard a kid at school bragging about a tiny home. You're quite right that they will not give up this house. Nancy would get claustrophobic.

The next house will be Scarlet's. The brighter, more studious Father Winter's half-sister of Aidan. I've had some ideas for her house, but none for Hobart. So it's agreed that Hobart will have a tiny home. I'll aim at a 64 tile one.

He's a teen soon, so might be time to look around my stock of preserved Original Townies and choose a wife. Someone who'll do well in small spaces. I might edit this to add a list of hopefuls...

-----

If Hobart picks a local girl from Del Sol Valley, there's still Judith Ward and Vanessa Jeong. But there's already a dynasty with Nessie. Could awful snob Judith Ward live in a tiny house? Maybe? Do I want another blonde now? Maybe not.

Liberty Lee and Summer Holiday are both still live in the cheap part of Willow Creek. Shame.

The Caliente girls -- Nina, Dina, Katrina -- are all still alive. And we might want a redhead.

If Hobart wants a brunette, there's always Mila Munch! Also still alive in Windenburg are Ulrike, Jade, Luna, Sofia. Not-in-world is one of the cutest pre-made sims, Lana McKinnon from DU.

Miko Ojo is also really tempting. I feel a city sim could deal with a tiny home, and could we get a blue child with pink hair? Also in San Myshuno is a YA ghost (because potions have failed) of Sonya Bheeda, the unborn Bheeda baby when the game starts. In my case it was a girl.

In this great episode, Geeta asks if you're sure about your life choices, Geeta bakes a cake, and Geeta sits on a Bed*.

-----

*eventually, but you've probably seen that already and wondered how we even got there.

But first! To be an oasis of calm, in a world of innovation, Nancy in her athletic outfit that you've seen running about your neighborhood for literally years.

I don't want to change her outfits too much. A Landgraab must be recognizable as a Landgraab.

You know it's nearly time to age up when I allow a child to play Voidcritters. I think they're very cool -- the trading, the leveling up, all that is fun. It's just not a priority.

Then it was agreed (with Hobart -- he wanted this) that really, he should play Voidcritters in his room. Let's make use of that space.

And while fitting out his room with cheap, not-precious, child friendly furniture, I had an urge to put a DJ booth in the awkward rectangular room right next door. None shall sleep. Though I sincerely doubt Nancy will be playing Nessun Dorma. Yes, Nancy. And she has the Handy trait for instant upgrades.

Friday, spring, week 14 was Spice Festival day. For all my speculating on a wife for Hobart, when I was looking through the residents of San Myshuno I remembered that I really have to use Geeta Rasoya. In my research before starting this save, her name popped up as on of the more hated sims.

She's a snob, she seems to invite herself over unasked, and keeps neighbors awake with constant woohooing. This will be her moment. I never use her, she usually dies in the background pretty soon. One of the things with this save is to use pre-made sims I have otherwise completely overlooked. I reckon there's nice elegant facial features. Obviously she has to be aged down in CAS, but I have zero qualms about that as she's an immortal vampire anyway. Very few players will have had Children by Geeta. (That also sounds like a fragrance to me, the kind that would have a black and white TV advert, classy font and French man just the right amount of disheveled to make ladies swoon. Children. By Geeta.)

That's a little disturbing as far as first meetings go. But this is Sims, and their ages will meet in the middle.

I've noticed aliens do the Spice Challenge easily (unless that's false pattern recognition) and with that in mind Hobart tried. He failed. Hmm. I'm sure I've had grown up alien sims, met at the bar or scientist office party, complete the spice challenge first time without any history of eating spicy food, and I was putting that down to... being an alien. Hmm.

Regardless, the festival was a success. Aidan got asked for a selfie a 3rd time, and will now complete the fame aspiration with enough positive cheers. And we bought the shirt, and met Geeta, and learned a new recipe.

It was also the end of Aidan's university term. It's harder to get a full set of A+ from home. Sims just aren't going to arrive at class on time. But he did well, most were A, one B, and his overall GPA raised from a D (he really did slack off) to a B-. That's great, but he only has one class in his final term, and even if he aces it... will it be enough to get him up to A overall? I'd like a degree with honours, but it might be out of reach. We'll see.

Anywho, being the weekend he had time to visit the Magic Realm and pick up more spells and potion recipes. He already has the spellcaster level to know everything, he just doesn't.

Scarlet! :)

This time he beat her.

But Nancy feels the beat.

I'm sorry. Bad pun. We're all sorry.

Aidan has completed his potion collection, they're all excellent, and there are spares for Rejuvenation an Immortality as last time. Here, Aidan offers a lovely gal from the city a swig of something he hasn't made himself, but is sure it'll be fine!

And here Aidan offers a lovely gal from the city a swig of another something he hasn't made either, but is sure it'll be fine this time!

With immortality sorted out, he made a vampire cure and figured he might as well invite Geeta to the household and have her drink it now.

Hobart is some way ahead of Ava, and when he's a young adult he and Geeta can move to a lot of my choosing. Aidan already knows the vampire cure, and it's just less hassle than needing Hobart to learn it some time later. I haven't given any thought to Ava's future husband, but if he's a vampire I might do the same and have Aidan make the cure while I'm still with this house. Aidan isn't making an important phone call, Scarlet just wanted to gossip.

Geeta was aged down.

Two things are immediately apparent. Even as a young adult, she has grey hair. That's her hair colour.

Also, she's not all natural. She knows the same cosmetic surgeon as Nancy. And that limits you to what tops she can wear that could possibly give that much support. Nothing looks good. I couldn't live with it and she now has one of the default body types. Should I change her hair? I have a feeling that grey hair might confuse the coding and give a child with something totally different. And that's the reason to leave it be. On the other hand I can hear you saying "yeah but it's still grey and it makes no sense", and that's totally right and valid. She has quite a sharp chin, but on the whole I think she might make nice kids.

Geeta bakes Hobart's cake.

She's all StrangerVille because I have that town in mind for them. Hobart's an alien. It seems to fit. Maybe Geeta can be the StrangerVille hero.

The household, sans Ava, then visited Sulani for the sake of Aidan and Nancy trying to achieve that beach life vibe.

That feels like a "caption this!" contest.

Nancy found treasure and has completed the aspiration, but Aidan failed. So we'll be back here eventually.

At the Starlight Accolades that evening, Scarlet won. I wonder if I'll ever get an awards show where only sims in my dynasty win?

Hobart is of course a Global Superstar, day 1 of being a teen. His video that he rushed didn't win anything.

Yes, I've got palm trees in pots next to an indoor pool again. Scarlet won at juice pong, but I'm sure that's no punishment for her brother. She now has a key to the house.

Nancy was approaching elder, and asked Aidan to sort out his priorities and give her some magic potions. Not just give them to the grey hair new girl.

Yes, that potion failed (why does the first one always fail?), she's belching out black stuff, so you know how that ends. But the next one worked.

And finally, because I think this is picture 25, Miss Ava Landgraab.

I'll do a short addendum to show her nicely in CAS.

Child Ava:

I no longer need this room to be full of toddler apparatus, so it's changed. I don't want it to just be dead decorative space. It's equipped for a kava party. There's a wall speaker (and more indoor plants) out of view. And you can obviously grab a book from the formal lounge and read in here. Or practice charisma, debating. I later added a sink for cleaning up kava drinks.

Geeta sits on a bed, and looks worried.

Ava's toddler bed was here. She can now share with Hobart (hey, it's the Sims), but I needed to find space for another bed. 5 sims in 4 beds doesn't compute. So in the old nursery, Geeta has been assigned the notoriously deadly Murphy bed. Nancy did her "instant upgrade" on it, so it'll be completely safe and very comfortable, but Geeta looks like she needs reassuring.

How totally odd that Geeta aged down with grey hair!
Scarlet is indeed beautiful and takes closely after her mother!
Who do you have in mind for Scarlet spouse-wise?
Will anyone be good enough? Haha, I vote the former Lobster guy! :) (Weren't you the one who put that idea in my head? Lol)

In this episode, I take too many screenshots but because they're pretty it's fine. But really, if you scroll about 2/3 of the way through, there's the most prize-winningest paparazzi photo in the history of ever. The rest is just padding.

Firstly, some housekeeping.

That's Aidan visiting the dorm where Cameron Fletcher died. I may or may not use him for Scarlet, but ghosts don't last forever. Anywho, Cameron was necrocalled, added, moved out. He now should be safe from disappearing. He's in a small Britechester house. I couldn't put him back in the same dorm because that's only for students. I'll have to use Cameron at some point. Would it be strange for Scarlet to say "hey mom, you know the guy who died because of you? Yeah? I'm totes gonna marry him". Might be awkward.

But Cameron Fletcher is a nice, good looking, young man, and I'm sure many sims have his kids. However, the premise in this save is to use the unpopular or short-lived pre-made sims (like Geeta). I've got 3 male sims in mind who begin as elders and die soon, and need their moment in the sun. One can say Cameron already had his day in the sun.

Too soon?

Geeta is really just kicking about the place. I'll care more about her when she and Hobart are together in a house of their own. But she's doing the early stages of Beach Life.

The Landgraab girls:

And a kava party for Geeta:

I think that's Scarlet looking into her kava like she mistrusts it. In attendance are many sims preserved either as vampires or by a potion including Holly Alto and Judith Ward. Kava parties are somewhat risky for me because all sorts of people show up, friends of friends of friends, and sometimes they're vampires who might experience a small amount of death if they're not careful.

It's true, I like the house and take pictures that look nice.

And that's the moment Aidan maxed his 10th skill. I'm still unsure what collection he could do, or what's achievable for him. Summoning volcanic bombs seems sensible.

Geeta got a complete makeover because I just didn't like the cowgirl look for her.

If you stop staring at the pink jumpsuit (this is her hot weather outfit), you'll see more palm trees have grown and she's using the drone to get fame. I under-use the drone.

On the topic of fame, Aidan needs only to get the 25 positive cheers to complete the fame aspiration. He's not doing well.

Even his mother wasn't impressed. Thanks, Kari.

She's part of a bowling team, apparently.

Geeta raced to global superstar, becoming my 5th sim to reach that. Kari, Scarlet, Aidan, and Hobart already have a tile. Only Loario isn't. That's thanks to long nights at the science lab.

Kari then invited her son over, and Nancy and Geeta hadn't seen Nookstone before.

Nancy went straight to the music production desk, because we actually don't have one at Chateau Peak... because I don't know where to put one. She's working on her own fame now. Everyone has a bit more time now that micro-managing Ava through her toddlerhood is over.

After school, Hobart and Ava joined the rest at Nookstone. It's just fun to have a change of scenery for a day.

It turns out that there are foods in the fridge here, like pho and even feijoada from Selvadorada, that my sims can learn.

Scarlet came over too, and I got another celebrity autograph of one of my own sims.

Like, I know she's famous... but I kinda thought you'd have got over that by now Aidan.

Soon enough, Nancy became the global superstar she always wanted to be, the ambitious materialistic snob she is.

Nancy very quickly picked up the 'paparazzi darling' quirk, which I don't mind. Geeta had been abducted by aliens, and she's coming home. The picture that paparazzo took would have been worth millions.

The end of summer, week 15, and Aidan has *finally* finished the art degree he started many, many moons ago.

It's not with honours, but it is a distinguished degree and he'll start as a stylist at level 7.

Now that Nancy has Easy Street from fame, she's signing up for the engineer career. She started at level 3, but will get promotions every day so long as she can keep up with the skill requirements. I haven't yet done this career or made the computer glasses, and I want to.

Yes, her arm is clipping through the wall. That's why I took a picture.

Her robotics station and Aidan's style board can be seen here. But sims can't access the style board and it was moved shortly after.

As I said earlier, Geeta doesn't look like a cowgirl any more in her everyday outfit, and this is she.

She's self-assured and he's hot-headed. Presumably they'll never argue*. Sigh. Yes. Hobart's conflict resolution was full as a child, but upon aging up he rolled hot-headed, which which took a big chunk out of that stat. Yes, I know how to exploit retraiting to get all 5 positive traits, but I'm not going to use that. He's hot-headed and I'll deal with it. If he falls short of conflict resolution because he's hot-headed, that makes sense.

Starlight Accolades, and my family of superstars fail to win anything.

Kari won for being a really nice sim. That's what the blurb said. She's a Delight.

Geeta occasionally paints to keep her fame alive. Here she is accompanied by two friends.

I like that Gerald Gold (everyone wave at Gerald) takes a more casual approach to celebrity stalking for the sake of the gutter press.

To end, there's been a small update to the front. Cypress trees, hedging. It looks a little less barren.

Next time should see Hobart and Geeta gone, and Ava as a teen.

Geeta having grey hair after her age being reversed-- it's because the folks at Maxis made her as an Elder.  So grey is the only hair she's ever had, there's nothing to revert back to.  I doubt it ever crossed their minds that someone would reverse her age and play with her.
Mermaids seeming to be immortal-- homeless townies don't age the way they should.  Once I had a family matriarch mess around with a visiting friend of one of her kids, and... oops.  The resulting baby is now older than his father, I still see him walk by every so often, still the same life stage after all this time.

I do enjoy the screenshots where you capture the sunlight's pattern on the floors through the patterned windows.
Grats to the many achievements of your sims in this update, including Aidan graduating with his Art History degree at last!
He totally deserves to smirk smugly like he's doing!

Looking forward to Scarlett's move! What kind of house will she inhabit and where?
So curious!

@Brian_Z Yes, that's exactly it. And it's how it'll be for any elder designed as an elder. In fact, if we find a sim that does age down to another hair color, it would be evidence that the devs changed their mind. I'll probably change Geeta's hair once she has a child.

I'v definitely seen the very fish-faced mermaid age and go grey. My strangest case of a sim that was seemingly ageless was the Roswell man. Meredith's husband. And now that I think of it, he was a merman at one point then I thought it was more hassle than it was worth, and changed him back to human. Anywho, they had a daughter -- this is the beachfront mansion thing in my sig -- and Mr Roswell, former merman, lived for an awful long time. He did die eventually though. So there's something in that.

@oshizu :) I was thinking as I read that, "wait, did I have any picture showing off the floor patterns?" In the lounge it's basically the vampire parquet in a checkerboard with CTRL+F. It can be easier to lay it out using entirely different flooring and change to the parquet later.

Aidan has completed a collection now. One that I haven't ever completed before. So I'm all ready to finish up with Hobart and Ava and move on. I had been thinking of Summer Home in Windenburg for Scarlet. She's a Father Winter's Baby and has to go where it snows. That's my only rule. I've also never done something wild like move the nightclub or pool lot to put a house there instead.

Haha, I didn't express myself clearly at all. I meant that you captured the patterns made by the sunlight through the windows on the floor.
Slipped the word "patterned" in there twice by mistake.
Scarlet is gorgeous and I've never had a sim with the Father Winter's Child trait. Really looking forward to see the trait (and Scarlet) in action!

Ah, well, the sun patterns are more exciting. ;p A mildly frustrating thing with this house and other in The Pinnacles is that the sun is always and forever only on one side. Morning and evening. Maybe this is the Arctic circle or something? So I consciously had the sun in mind with this house, but the side facing the road is probably cold and miserable.

Never had a Father Winter's Child? I remember you prodding me to have one. For shame!

Um, I've seen Ava as a teen, and she's got nothing on Scarlet. Very prominent chin, very thin lips. She just needs emotional control, and I can age her to YA. Nancy won't finish her engineer career, but then it's something to properly experience with another sim.
It is a little thing of my own. I call it "Heart Foam". I shall not publish it. Farewell! Patience, Patience, farewell!

Exit Bunthorne.
