2019 Challenge Tournament Finale: Let's Play Bingo!

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Goal
This is the big one of the 2019 season, and as such, it is the most challenging. The entire team (and new member GlazeyLady pitched in some great ideas as well) came up with 25 varied things for your household to complete. Print out this bingo card to help you keep organized. Instead of the usual two weeks of game time, we're allowing you a full three weeks.

**Selfies must be taken before a Townie would move in.
**All skills count.
**Back to back parties just means that's all your Sim would do besides eating, sleeping, etc. -- no working on other bingo squares. Also, all party types (wedding, birthday, etc) qualify, but dates are not parties.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • In CAS, create a YA Sim. Alien or Human. Vampires, Mermaids, and Spellcasters are not allowed in the household.
  • Banned content: Clubs, Wishing Well, Changing or Adding Lot Traits, and Realm of Magic / Discover University Packs.
  • If you have Realm of Magic and/or Discover University they must be disabled before starting.
  • No intentional killing of any household members.
  • No adding to the household until your Sim has completed one bingo (across, down, or diagonal).
  • No adding to the household via Manage Worlds -- you must "Ask to Move In." After a Sim is asked to move in, you are allowed to move in additional household members. Once Sims are moved in, they cannot be moved out. Similarly, if your Sim moves, everyone in the household needs to move with them.
  • If a bingo square does not state "One Sim" then other household members may assist in the task.
  • Babies can be aged up when they are good friends with one parent.
  • Toddlers can be aged up when they are potty trained (level 3).
  • Children and Teens can both be aged up when they have an A in school.
  • The challenge ends on Week 4, Day 1, 8 a.m.

Remember to print out this bingo card before starting.

Scoring

Bingos. Any bingo (5 squares down, across, or diagonal) is worth 100 points. If you achieve a blackout (all squares checked off) before the mandatory stop time post your score along with the week, day, and hour of finish time.

NBS. Non-Bingo Squares. If you ran out of time and were still able to mark off individual squares that are NOT part of any bingo, then give yourself 10 points for each NBS.

Total. Add your Bingos and NBS together for your Total.

Ch-Ch-Changes
The team does not want to edit and make changes to the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else we reserve the right to ask affected players to redo their effort.

Have Questions?
Please think hard before you ask in the challenge thread because it maybe strategy. What you may consider an innocent question could cause another player to go — “oh, I did not think of doing that.” It’s always safer to PM everyone on the team (Metro, LenaLJ, MarianT, sdhoey, and GlazeyLady) for clarifications. Thanks.

And the Winner is...
After this event has closed everyone is encouraged to discuss how they approached the event, but the winner especially is expected to do so in detail.

This Event is Now Closed

Banned content: Clubs, Wishing Well, Changing or Adding Lot Traits, and Realm of Magic Game Pack.

Does this mean we need to delete/remove/disable Realm of Magic Game Pack if we have it on our system, and how does one do that?

Thanks Metro. I went through and thought of another question to ask ... I don't think it is strategy talk

By Diagonal, would I be correct in thinking you are meaning the two long diagonals (A1 to E5 and E1 to A5) and not the smaller diagonals of 2 (eg B1-A2), 3 (eg C1-A3) and 4 (eg D1-A4) squares in length? As a long term Excel user, columns are A-E and Rows are 1-5. :)

When I open Lena's spreadsheet on my Mac the A column is blank. So, for a diagonal bingo to count you have to scratch off 5 squares -- B2 down and to the right to F6, or B6 up and to the right to B2.

Wow, that one is HUGE! I will need a lot of time to plan!

I got a few questions right away:

  • Could you please confirm what is the maximum score possible? Is it 27 x 100 = 2700?
  • Can I add as many townies to the household as I want?
  • What about aging up teens? I don't see the requirements for them
  • "One Sim Needs to Medal in 6 Different Back to Back Parties" - what is a back to back party?

Thank you!

Hmmmm...my math says 5 bingos across, 5 bingos down + the two diagonals. So, that comes to 12 X 100 = 1200.

Can I add as many townies to the household as I want?

Yes, but remember once you move them in, they can't move out.

What about aging up teens? I don't see the requirements for them

The team will discuss this. Not sure if we forgot it or if it was intentional.

"One Sim Needs to Medal in 6 Different Back to Back Parties" - what is a back to back party?

Yeah, back to back needs clarification. Maybe just drop that wording? The team can weigh in. Not sure why any Sim would need to do marathon parties back to back.

Of course, it is 12, not 27. I have no idea why I multiplied 5 by 5. D'oh.

You're secretly looking for any way to get 1st place. :) Just kidding, of course. Good luck in the Finale. I'm a bit biased, but I think this is one of the team's best offerings in a long time.

Where is the bingo board?  Which tasks are in which row or column?  Maybe I missed that.

If it's the green bingo link, then, I found it ::)!

Yep, that's it. I tired to make it obvious by first saying "Print out" but I always miss stuff myself. Lol.

I do think I'll throw it in the rule set one more time. :)

EDIT: Sheesh, where are my manners? Everybody give a warm welcome to new team member, GlazeyLady. I mentioned her coming on board at the top of the rule set, but it's easy to miss there.

EDIT 2: Just added this clarification...

  • Teens can be aged up when they have an A in school.

EDIT 3: Another clarification...

**Back to back parties just means that's all your Sim would do besides eating, sleeping, etc. -- no working on other bingo squares.

Ah, so you mean the two LONG diagonals, not the series of shorter ones.

Correct. You need 5 squares scratched off for a bingo -- be it down, across, or diagonal.
