Power of 10 - 9.48: All Good Things (5 Feb update)

9.48: All Good Things

Saturday, Week 51

Mocha: Is it true that you're going to leave me here to go to university, Elwin?
Elwin: Nah, I have zero interest in higher education if you can't live with me.
When I move out, I'll be moving to a new town and you're coming with!
Mocha: Thanks! That's a tremendous relief, you know!

Claude: You'll be a teen soon, which means you'll be able to start learning magic!
Elwyn: I can't wait for my teen birthday, but do I have to learn magic?
Claude: I'll help you do like I did so you'll be done ranking up as a teen. You'll surely find the spells and potions useful later.

Claude: I encourage Elwyn to introduce himself to all three sages.
This Sage of Practical Magic is the only one who isn't already an elder.

Sunday, week 52

Claude: Today, little Elwyn gives Cristal a make-over then we all spend the day at Ohan'ali Beach.
By all, I mean our household plus my parents, Bianca and Rico.

Watcher pretends like she's giving us a day off.
In truth, I suspect she wants Claude to fill up his Fishing Notebook before he moves out.
Sneaky!

My wife Averie loves it here. Of course, she does! She's an active sim!
But my mother Bianca and I must avoid maxing the Fitness skill.
That's why we never go in the water.

Elwyn: So, do you like children, Cristal?
Cristal: You mean, like you? Sure!
Elwyn: No, I mean, do you want to have children of your own?
Cristal: Well, I'm non-committal, so maybe I'd be better off just renting a child?

Claude: Bichaels are the height of absurdity!
Even my vampire friend Selma rides one these days.
Why doesn't she use Bat Form, Supernatural Speed, or Mist Form instead?

Grandpa Keanu passed away last week and Gran Carmen passes on Monday night.
We visit their home in Sulani to retrieve their urns.
Oh! Spellcasters have a unique urn which looks quite elegant.

My grandparents' gravestones also possess a unique design.
Our family cemetery now holds seven generations of the Pries dynasty.
That's everyone except my parents, Averie and I, and our son Elwyn.

Bianca: What I want to know is whether Elwyn plans to get married and have a family or not.
Will there be great-grandchildren in my future or what?
Claude: That's entirely up to Elwyn, Mother.
Technically, he is the last heir. He doesn't need to have children.

Elwyn: Papa throws a birthday party for Jethro and me at The Sand Bar.
We blow out our candles then get makeovers.
I'm erratic and paranoid, like our founder Erwin Pries.

You're laughing at my pants, aren't you? Don't lie to me!
When I chose them during my party, I didn't notice the purple and green stripes on the sides!

Jethro: I understand why I'm forced to carve pumpkins, Mom, but why you?
Averie: My costume says it all!

Elwyn: Unfair! Dad says I need to meet more people so I'm the co-host!

Elwyn: Hey, this "Fly Together" action is pretty cool!

Sunday, Week 53

Dad's been offering magical training to Cristal now and then.
It's not like my parents have much to do these days.
Oh yeah, Dad still has one last party left to finish his requirements.

I'm an Acolyte warlock now on my way to becoming an Adept.
Who knows how much use I'll make of magic after I move out?
But Jethro and I don't become young adults for 8 more days.

I'm patiently waiting for my birthday next week.
You know what they say about "All good things…"

Wow, I haven't never seen a spellcaster urn before. Not that I'm about to kill any sim just to have my own urn, but they are pretty.

A non-committal girl hangs around a paranoid, erratic guy. No worries, Mocha seems like a reasonably talented therapist. :) Elwyn could do a degree from home, and have the Cat Friend that way. But it's not ideal.

Well I'm terribly interested (terribly) (actual terror) to see where this goes. There's a lot or Erwin going on. I've decided I'll probably do Scarlet's 64-tile house on a 64x64 tile lot. A train wreck of landscaping awaits, but it's a thought that's captured my imagination. I do like your idea of starting Micro, and growing larger.
It is a little thing of my own. I call it "Heart Foam". I shall not publish it. Farewell! Patience, Patience, farewell!

Exit Bunthorne.

@Heart Foam
I'd never seen the spellcaster urn or gravestone, either. Haha, it's not like I let my sims die to check out cemetery stuff.
After giving them Potions of Immortality, I can't be bother to repeatedly CopyPasto Potions of Rejuvenation to keep the ancestors alive.

Oooh, Tiny Living on a huge lot. Will you use debug and add waterfalls and all that? I'm dying to try that in an unofficial challenge, possibly my next challenge.
The Micro House is so great for gardening! And maybe my next toddlers don't need their own room at all, hehe.
Looking forward to seeing which lot you choose for Scarlet! And thanks for reading!

How funny that everyone one is so bike-obsessed in your game!  Can't say I've noticed that in Tavi's Po10.  Weird.
Cristal's comment about just renting a child was the absolute highlight for me!  Fantastic spin on the non-comital trait!

The bike obsession is driving me up the wall, especially since the helmets are so unattractive. Haha!
I wanted a group family shot at the cemetery but did it happen? No, because the grandparents were off cycling and didn't arrive until later.  Or were they cycling to the cemetery?
All the bichaels became conspicuous after the heir moved from Glimmerbrook to Magnolia Promenade, so maybe it varies with the town?
As for Cristal, I haven't played a non-commital sim in ages  We shall see how she does because someone is moving out later today (irl).

Power of 10 - 9.49: Ready or Not (9 Feb update)

9.49: Ready or Not

Monday, Week 53

Dad's so competitive!
This morning, Mocha and I become good friends!
So, of course, while I'm at school, Dad makes Mocha his companion.

Mocha: Took forever! Your mother and I aren't even friends yet!

Jethro's been working hard on aspirations to buy reward traits.
Tuesday, I tell him not to bother anymore.  He can just take it easy.

On Wednesday, this alien lady and I become friends.
Once I move out, we can become good friends, I hope.

That same day, Mom announces that she can't mentor Cristal in magic anymore.
That can only mean that Cristal's reached the Master rank.

This is great news for me, cuz now I can let Cristal learn any potions we'll need later.
I'm not really into learning magic….

The news also excites Dad who decides to throw his last party.
He chooses the home of his good friend, Rohan Elderberry.

Why here?  None of us have ever stepped foot inside Rohan's home!

Dad will go down in our dynasty's history as the generation with the worst parties!
We could not complete "Listen to classical music," though we'd hired an entertainer.
Listening to the gramophone didn't count and the house lacked a piano..

When I'm the active heir, I'll only count gold-medal parties for my requirement!

Thursday, we make our first ever visit to Larry's Lagoon aka Foxbury Commons.
At the Robotics Workstations, I craft a computer circuit while Dad crafts a mechanism.

It takes me two tries to finish my circuit, because I get Dazed.

By the time I'm done with the computer circuit, I'm Seriously Friend.
How was Dad able to craft his mechanism without getting Dazed at all?

Also, I was hoping Dad could help me craft a utili-bot by making the mechanisms I need.
But nope! The robotic parts he crafts can't leave his personal inventory. Darn!

Mocha complains about the overall lack of attention he's been getting lately.
This is Mocha's first generation in a household without a Cat-Lover in it.
More of the same in my future household, Mocha!

Sometimes, I spot Cristal interacting with the garden over the fence.
I wonder what her Gardening level is now. Level 3?

On Saturday, Dad tries out the Gardener Bot he crafted. It's slooooooow!

Saturday's also the day I finish crafting a Robotic Arm.
My problem is that it won't come off now.
If I "change outfit" or "change sim," the Robotic Arm doesn't go away.

I take a shower, hoping that the Robotic Arm comes off before I step into the shower.
Nope!
Hey, stop trying to scroll down!

I give up trying to lose the Robotic Arm and ask Cristal for magical training.
Thanks to Cristal, I'm an Adept now.
I'm the last heir. How much magic do I really need?

Sunday, Week 54

We spend Sunday at the Flea Market.
I've invited along Rangi Ngata, another new alien friend of mine.

Monday morning, we get the "Discover 10 aliens" achievement.
I'm pretty sure we haven't discovered 10 unique aliens.
What a bizarre achievement.
I mean, undisguised aliens are pretty hard to miss, y'know?

What's with Jethro constantly asking our parents for advice, then trashing his character values?
Mom's just got back from volunteering with Jethro, which she absolutely hates doing!

Being mean isn't all negative, though. Look, she has a positive moodlet from being mean!
To my surprise, though, Mom doesn't have a single negative relationship. Huh!

Averie: Why can't we simply enjoy being empty-nesters?
Claude: For one thing, Jethro will still be living with us, dear.
Plus, why would Elwin fixate on moving in a redhead if he wasn't thinking about having a kid?

Elwyn: Et tu, Brutus?
Rangi Ngata, you profoundly disappoint me!

Hey, there goes Dad!
I believe it's our first abduction since our founder Erwin's time.
Wonder what brought that on?
You think I shouldn't have talked smack about Rangi for riding a bichael?

I decide to host the teen birthday for Jetro and me.
It won't count toward my party requirement cuz I'm still living at home.
But a little party practice never hurt, right?

The party's perfect except I'm still wearing these ugly pants with the side stripe. *le sigh
And, yeah, I'm a young adult now!

I'm ready to move out to my new town.
The big question is: Does my new town feel ready for me?

Tune in next time to see how we roll during the last generation!

Claude's requirements: 10/10
   1. Career: Master of the Real 10
   2. Unique skill: DJ Mixing 10
   3. Earned 10,000 satisfaction points:  yes
   4. Earned $10,000: yes

   6. 10/10 odd jobs
   7. 10/10 parties
   8. 10/10 emotional whims
   9. 10/10 community lots for min. 2 hrs each

Looking forward to seeing Mocha's new home!!  I mean...Cristal's new home...oh wait, Elwyn.  Yeah, that's the guy I'm supposed to be focused on.  Totally your fault for writing Mocha so well and for finding such a lovely redheaded spouse  ;=)  Seriously, though, so excited for you to get the final heir into the final house!  You're so close to entering the Hall of Fame again!!!  Congrats!!

YAY! So excited for you. It’s the home stretch!

Funny story. The first time I saw “bichael,” I thought it was a weird typo. Then you wrote it several more times and I thought, “Surely oshizu knows how to spell bicycle.” Then I did a Google search and learned that it’s a meme. I’m normally up to date on such things, but now I feel old.  ;D

Haha, I only encountered "bichael" and "micycle" last month though it's an old enough meme already, so you and I are in the same boat.
Then, because all of my sims are now on bikes (which I hope MCCC can disable for non-forum saves), I thought I'd keep using the term "bichael" until I got called out on it.
Silly, right?

LOL, my last heir isn't an alien. He's the dude that can't get rid of his robotic arm.
My heir Elwyn doesn't have a bichael. His spouse moved in with one in her inventory and I immediately sold it.
The last straw will be Vlad, Caleb, and Lilith on micycles. Speaking of, I haven't seen hide or hair of them for the past 4 generations.

You must be really busy now with school, work, and family. I bet Discover University isn't as fun when you have your own mountains of homework to do. :(

LOL, I know he's not your heir silly girl. But I can't help but wonder his fate on the other end of his trip. LOL

Only your heir would get his robotic arm stuck. LOL

Discovering University doesn't bother me. At least I can click on her make her do it and no do it myself. LOL

Lol at Averie getting mad when she has to help people! And Jethro making her do it because he keeps asking advice! When kids do that in my game I try to choose the option that will have a negative effect on responsibility because that one seems easiest to increase just by going to school on time and doing their homework. Looking forward to seeing what’s next for Elwyn, and I’m curious what it’ll be like marrying and having kids with a non-commital sim, that’s another one I always avoid.

@Meg
About asking advice, I usually pick Conflict Resolution but sometimes the chance card doesn't offer an easy-to-fix option. Looking back, I don't know why I bothered with character values for spares, haha.
I never dealt with Cristal's non-committal trait until she moved in, because Elwyn was too young to court her while she was uncontrollable.
She's been easy to play so far.
