I've played Mean sims before and they're not impossible, but I'm hoping for a sim with different look for Claude's spouse.
Claude has two sim-weeks to check out his options. Averie's second trait is Active, so she's a complete mismatch for Claude's future lifestyle, sadly.

Awww, shucks! Missed opportunity! I should have had Rico and Claude standing on an overhanging cliff somewhere....

Power of 10 - 8.43: Don't Wake the Mocha (23 Jan update)
« Reply #271 on: January 23, 2020, 09:27:50 AM »
8.43: Don't Wake the Mocha

Saturday, Week 45

Mocha: Bianca and Rico play a game with her grandparents.
Meanwhile, I try my best to conceal my excitement.
Don't wake the Mocha!

Okay, let me take that back cuz I'm feelin' the luuuuuuuv.
Plus, Claude and I are good friends now.

Bianca: Sorry we couldn't invite Mama Carmen, too, Papa.
We didn't want to leave Mocha home alone that long.

Keanu: Hah! In Mocha's deep catnip haze, I doubt he cares where he is.
Mocha: Hey, I'm right here! *glares

Sunday, Week 46

Random female: C'mon, big boy! Don't be that way!
Don't you know? What happens in Selvadorada stays in Selvadorada.
Mocha: Oh, the indignity of it all!

Glimmerbrook may be cold, dark, and gloomy, but it's home sweet home.
I say! The quality of this gourmet pet food is impeccable! *sighs happily

Bianca's decided to brew her last few potions to become a Purveyor of Potions this evening.
We're all hoping Claude will want to use this cauldron often after his birthday tomorrow.

Claude: Okay! Here we go! It's party time at San Myshuno's Central Park!
Are you ready to become teenagers, Pablo?

We age up with the same ugly hairstyle and the world's ugliest party outfits.
Mama to the rescue.
She runs off to look for a mirror or a dresser.

That's Pablo. He looks a lot like Papa, don't you think?

Here's a super-bonus shot just for our friend Pippin.
That's me, standing in between Auntie Jaida and Mama's teen friend Averie Summer.

As you can see, the party is hopping!
Mama says this is the first party where Papa didn't get jealous at all.
I bet that's because she was busy cooking and giving us makeovers.

You're probably wondering why I don't have the hairstyle matching my toddler and child hair.
It's because our simverse doesn't have the universities yet.
Oh well, I'll just change my hair after I move out.
(Kinda transparently lame marketing move…)

As a child, I lost my Glimmerstone but couldn't ask for a new one until now.
Also, I'm almost--but not quite--friends with the Sage of Practical Magic.
She teaches me a potion recipe and a spell anyway.

I'm going to do like Mama and try to reach the Virtuoso rank as a teen.
Then, I'll start the two magical aspirations after I move out.

Great-Gran Kahlua and Great-Gramps Kengo became elders last week.
Will the Potion of Immortality Mama gave them 4 weeks ago keep them alive?

No more outdoor patio, Daddy-o!
We use rugs to create a temporary outdoor dining area for Mama's last two parties.
Who doesn't love a Spooky Party?
And we only need to discuss costume with two sims, instead of 12!

That's me in the orange astronaut suit.
Hey, is that green fairy casting her sultry gaze my way?

Claude: All's well that ends well.
Pablo (mutters to self): Some guys have all the luck…

Saturday morning, Mama hosts her last party ever:  a Black & White Bash!
I'm co-hosting this party while Papa cooks.
Talk about zebras, penguins, the absence of newspapers… Ugh!
Why couldn't we just throw two Spooky Parties?

Averie sure has a lot of energy this early in the morning.
I keep waiting for her mean side to come out.

Papa has to cook a white cake, a black & white cake, and an excellent-quality meal. Done!
But Mama only earns a silver-medal for this party.
Papa's excellent-quality Black & White Cookies didn't count as "Black & White Food."
Does that seem unfair to you? We think so!

Averie: Cool! So this is how Summer Solstice is celebrated in Glimmerbrook! I never knew!
Claude: Um, yeah, it's a traditional custom from way back. *coughs

Averie seems to really be into me, so I pull out all the stops.

But right after she agrees to be my girlfriend, I'm suddenly feeling mortified.
What? Embarrassed +50?  Must be a mood swing.

Papa, quick! Toss me a moodlet solver!

Sunday, Week 47

This evening, I give Averie a make-over.
She is utterly adorable!

Mocha: Wow, you're putting in a lot of effort for a back-up plan, eh, sport?
Claude: She is the nicest teen around, Mocha.
You think we should visit the bowling alley? Maybe visit Selvadorada, too?

Mocha: Are you two soulmates already?
Claude: Nope.

I don't know if you would call this timing good or bad.
But as soon as Averie and I become BFFs tonight, she ages up!  Unbelievable!

As of today, I have 11 more days until I'm a young adult and she'll be an adult in 24 days.
We're still good. Her third trait, Neat, could have been so much worse.

I have to say, folks, I can't wait to move out!
Today's Monday, so I only have 10 more days to go!

Bianca's requirements: 10/10
10/10 parties

Averie and Jaida in the same shot?  Just for me?  That was so nice of you!
So happy that our mean girl has wrapped Claude around her little finger.  Sorry, Mocha, but this isn't looking like the back-up plan, this looks like the plan.
And "Don't Wake the Mocha" was just an adorable title and approach!  I adore that little fuzzball!

Mocha in Selvadora. Too funny. He is dignity itself.

Averie's pants reminds me of you @oshizu inspiring me to be braver with colour. But so long for Claude to be YA. Anything can happen in that time. Mean isn't ideal, but it isn't the worst, and it might lead to chances for conflict resolution. Neat goes well with mean in my head! :)

Crazy that the Black & White cookies don't count. Useful info. Hmm. It rings a vague and distant bell in my mind. Still I'm sure it's meant to count. Does weather ever complicate all these outdoor parties?
It is a little thing of my own. I call it "Heart Foam". I shall not publish it. Farewell! Patience, Patience, farewell!

Claude was really lucky to have that one day to worm his way into Averie's heart, lol.
Mocha is very photogenic. :D

Mocha's so weird--he was encouraged to mate with that cat so he ran all the way to find her then sat with his back turned.
Yes, I love those pants!
In my game, Claude is only five days from becoming a young adult. Meanwhile, Averie has been very agreenable and friendly to everyone in the family so far.
As for rain-free outdoor fests, the P10 rules state that "Season duration and weather = Player's choice."
So I have disabled inclement weather. :D  Just because I'm currently suffering through cold and snowy weather, I needn't also suffer it in my game!

Power of 10 - 8.444: Virtually Virtuoso (25 Jan update)
« Reply #275 on: January 25, 2020, 03:56:08 AM »
8.44: Virtually Virtuoso

Monday, Week 47

Claude: No, we're not practicing Tai Chi!
Mama turned Averie into a spellcaster last night.
Ever since, my parents offer Averie and I magical training.

I reached the Acolyte rank last night.
This morning, we get a notice that Averie's an Acolyte now, too.
Oooooh, her family name's Sumner, not Summer.

Why is it called a Potion of Immortality if it doesn't make a sim immortal?
Before moving to Glimmerbrook, Mama had given Morgyn Ember two potions.
A Potion of Rejuvenation and a Potion of Immortality.
After aging to an elder, though, he passed away this morning.

His replacement is Loario Turei: erratic, good, child of the ocean.

Grandpa Keanu invites me to his home to peruse his collection of magical tomes.
He has two spell books that I can read.

Sulani has to be the most beautiful place in our simverse.
Where I'm going ain't great, but I'll make the best of it!

Whenever I brew a potion, I invite Averie to join me.
Probably not an efficient approach at all.
From now on, I'll just let my parents train her.
If only she could reach Adept rank by my next birthday.

I mistakenly spoke an untruth last week.
On the day Mama moved to Glimmerbrook, she was a Master, not a Virtuoso.

Since I've become an Adept today, I have a whole week to reach Master before my birthday.
Piece of cake!

Claude: You lucky dawg! You're quitting your second part-time job already?
Pablo: Yep, I got less going on than you do, bro. You need to focus on one thing at a time.

Ckaude: Sez the guy who hasn't learned a single spell or potion recipe.
Pablo: I said this!

Gah! Our watcher's such a magic noob!
Why didn't she tell me about experimenting?
Free magical ingredients from experiments will be so useful after I move out!

Yeah, yeah, I know. It does look like I'm doing Tai Chi.

It's Friday morning and everyone's feeling down in the dumps.
Great-Gran Kahlua passed away earlier this morning.
Seriously, Potion of Immortality is such a misnomer!

Yes, sir. I do realize it took me four evening shifts to earn my Level 3 promotion from Level 2.
And I'm deeply grateful for your $358 promotion bonus.
But, all due respect, sir, as much as I love the uniform, I must tender my resignation.

On Saturday evening, I achieve my goal of becoming a Master warlock!

Sunday, Week 48

This morning, I discover Mocha infested with fleas.
Due to this incident, I learn two very important lessons:
Lesson 1: Thanks to Wellness treats, I will never take Mocha to the vet, ever.
Lesson 2: The CopyPasto spell doesn't work on Wellness Treats.

After divesting Mocha of his fleas, I travel to Magic HQ and visit all three sages.

As you can see, I've learned every possible spell!
But I'll wait until after I've moved out to learn the remaining potion recipes.
That way, I'll get to actually keep my sample potions.

Next stop is the yoga studio.
My plan is to show Averie my romantic commitment by helping her learn Wellness.
There's a problem with active sims, though.

While I take back-to-back yoga classes, Averie never gets near a yoga mat.
She spends the whole time doing sit-ups and push-ups in a bathrobe.
Sheesh!

Our visit to the Flea Market gets cut short by a phone call that Great-Grandpa Kengo passed away.
Great-Gran Kahlua passed away after I removed her from the club to make room for Averie.
And I just removed Great-Grandpa Kengo from the club yesterday.

Would the Potion of Immortality have kept them alive if they'd stayed active club members?

After all the crying, we go dance it out at Narwhal Arms.
Everyone's glad to be able to dance freely since it's usually a banned activity at home.
Of course, it's banned! Otherwise, everyone's constantly dropping their queues to dance!

While I'm dancing, I notice Mama has followed Grandpa Keanu upstairs.

Keanu: Carmen and I have no desire to live forever. And we don't wish to live without each other, either.
All we want is to spend a little time with Claude's kids, our great-grandchildren.
Bianca: I know exactly how you feel, Papa. I'm sure Claude understands that, too.

On Monday night, Mama discovers that she can no longer offer Averie magical training.
Does that mean what I think it means?

Because Averie aged up not long after my teen birthday, she probably doesn’t have any high-level skills.
I don't have the patience to have her help me with a gazillion school projects, either.

Mama insists Averie should at least max the Logic skill.
I'll let Mama take care of that while I get ready to move out.

At long last! Today is my very final day of high school!
And all my efforts have paid off.
Look, I'm virtually Virtuoso!!

Our birthday party at the Sand Bar starts several hours before it's time to blow out our candles.
My final traits are Music-Lover, Creative, and Perfectionist.

What a great feeling to be a young adult, finally.
When we get a party task to "Have an adult make a toast," that adult is ME!

Pablo, I can't believe you dropped your queue!
Go blow out your candles right now!

Claude: Something else happens that makes me feel like even more of an adult!
Averie (mutters): I can't believe he wanted to do it in a bush! In.a.bush!

Claude: I end the party and then, while still at The Sand Bar, I make the phone call to move out.

Whaddya say, Mocha?
It ain't much, but it was either here or Forgotten Hollow.

Don't worry, though, we're gonna make it a sweet home. Our final home, in fact.
Just you wait and see!

Claude's requirements: 0/10
 1. Career: not yet
 2. Unique skill: not yet
 3. Earned 10,000 satisfaction points:  6,110/10,000
 4. Earned $10,000: $4,729/$10,000
 5. 2/10 good friends (including  0/2 non-human)
 6. 0/10 odd jobs
 7. 0/10 parties
 8. 3/10 emotional whims: Tense, Embarrassed, Sad
 9. 0/10 community lots for min. 2 hrs each
10. 0/10-item collection

Remarks
*Not much really happened in this update, except that Claude reached almost-Virtuoso rank much faster than his mother Bianca did.
*Still can't tell if there's a link between the Potion of Immortality, active club membership, and death.
But Kengo stayed in the family club and lived an extra week longer than his wife Kahlua did, which is odd. Right?

I haven’t even touched any of the magic stuff. You always get so much done in your dynasty! Color me impressed.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Claude gets up to. Was that a vampire aspiration I spied? Was that just a placeholder to get the Knowledge aspiration bonus or are you going for a Vampire Spellcaster?

I'm still exploring Realm of Magic and Claude had run out of things to do during his second week as a teen.
Also, I didn't want to have Claude spending time on magic after moving out.
I'm glad I waited to have a spellcaster heir. This way, Claude is only my 2nd heir to learn all the spells.

The game doesn't allow vampire/spellcaster hybrids.
Master Vampire's just a placeholder aspiration until Claude moves out. I know he won't accidentally completely any of the Master Vampire tasks.

Well, without giving spoilers, I ran into some potion of immortality issues as well, but we'll just leave it at that.
So excited to see the new house and all the fun new adventures Mocha has!!  Oh, and Claude too  ;=)
Also, the Tai Chi comment was pretty great and on point!

Haha, I spent hours building an absurd little house yesterday so, I guess, I'm eager to share it.
My whole problem with university is that Mocha must stay behind.
I hope Claude's new town will be sunnier than Glimmerbrook, which seemed dark a lot of the time.

As for potions of immortality, I don't have the dedication to keep directing my sims to make the rounds with the Potion of Rejuvenation.
I'm okay with the fact that several non-household sims got to enjoy an extra young adult stage. *shrugs

I love the screenshots of them doing magic, I think it looks cool, much better than just flicking a wand.

My whole problem with university is that Mocha must stay behind.

Mocha only has to stay behind if you want to go in dorms. I’ve got Kit at university at the moment but I sent him straight to his empty lot, so he’s got a dog. Looking forward to the next generations whatever you decide!

Oh, I didn't realize that a uni student need not live on campus. When I read the new rule, I had the impression that the heir had to move to campus first then only move to their own lot from the DU world....
I'll need to think about that....I'd been planning on my last heir going to uni.

9.45: Micro Managing

Thursday, Week 48

Averie: Hey, so I've moved in with Claude!
Mocha: *coughs
Averie: And the marvelous Mocha!
The first thing we do is head back to the Glimmerbrook house.

We have some things to do before building our new home.
Like getting engaged, for instance.

Before Claude moved, I was already a Virtuoso with maxed Logic.
My in-laws are the best!

After confirming I'm eating for two, I read a magical tome.
I'm waiting for Claude to bake our wedding cake.

Two wedding cakes, in fact.
The first one looked so yummy, he couldn't resist taking a piece.
He phones in our wedding party a little later than planned.

Through sickness, in health, and mean streaks.
I haven't spoken a mean word in weeks. Ever since I met Claude, in fact.
May our love and happiness last forever!

Gah, it's only my first trimester and I can barely walk!
I should have waited until Claude was closer to finishing the cake before taking my pregnancy test.
Darn Claude and his sweet tooth!

By that evening, our new home in Magnolia Promenade is done.
Compared to the other Pries homes, we want a more modern vibe.

It's a 32-tile micro house. For now, the nursery is Claude's studio..
The outdoor bathroom stall is for guests and service staff.

At first, I could only sleep on the left side of the bed.
After a few hours of tweaking, though, I can finally sleep on the right side.
Our new best friend is the Alt key.

There's a side patio and play area under the overhanging roof.
There and in the stall, we've covered the ground with terrain paint and rugs, which don't increase the tile count.

In the back corner, our cauldron sits on a small hillock.
We love our new ICYA storage, which is so handy!
It lets us store magical ingredients separately from our other stuff!

Friday morning, I sell a third painting which earns me $10k total.
Then, I'm off for my first day of work in the Painter career.

Averie: Once Claude's gone, I go fishing with his grandparents.

Did you know we're a unique household within the Pries dynasty?
Claude's the first heir without a work-from-home career.
And we're the first household to live on a Tiny Residential Lot.

We celebrate Claude's first promotion by going on two dates.
First at the Stargazer Lounge, then at the Spice Festival.
Oof! It's not easy giving a passionate kiss in my second trimester!

We're trying to get as much done as possible before Tuesday.
That's when our future nooboo ages up to a toddler.

Look at that! All three sages in the same room!

Yeah, I know. The rocketship really spoils the look of our lot!
But Claude and I both want to finish Nerd Brain.
Those insta-upgrades are too sweet!

Claude: Saturday, I travel alone to San Myshuno to buy produce.
Averie surprises me by showing up on a bicycle we don't own.
Why doesn't she use her broom?

Wow, the broom and wand I bought last night at Casters Alley are gone!
I get home to find that the completed rocketship has disappeared, too.
Also gone are all the magic ingredients I bought last night in Cssters Alley. Why?

Sunday, Week 49

Averie: One perfect little baby boy, please!

Patchy: So Averie had twins after all? Why are they outside?
Keanu: There's no room for two bassinets indoors right now.

Nanny: Tell me something every nanny doesn't know already!
Your watcher's notorious for leaving bassinets in random locations of high family traffic.

I'm pretty impressed with the mini-kitchen!
Who knew I could prepare meals with just a corner counter-top?

Mocha: You know who's not impressed? Me, that's who!
Look at my stuff thrown against the wall next to the bathroom stall!
Just because a house is cramped and gives lots of buffs, that doesn't mean it's hygge!
But don't take my word for it--ask a Danish friend!

Averie: Whoa, I never knew that Mocha was such an expert on "things hygge."

Claude maxes his unique skill, DJ Mixing, in two evenings.
His bonus traits and our micro house surely helped a lot.
And I'm sure his Music-Lover trait didn't hurt, either.

The toddlers have arrived!
Elwyn, the last Pries heir, is a charmer. No surprise there!
He also has the Sulani Mana and Ancient Bloodline traits.

Younger brother Jethro wears a diabolical expression.
Good grief! What can he be up to?

Oh, of course! Jethro is harassing Mocha!
Hah! As if Mocha would stoop to Jethro's level!

One last shot of the twins sitting angelically on the Murphy Bed's sofa.
Egads, this house is cramped!

Coming next: Checking out toddler skilling in a micro house!

Claude's requirements: 4/10
📌 1. Unique career: Painter 6
✔️ 2. Unique skill: DJ Mixing 10
✔️ 3. Earned 10k satisfaction points: yes
✔️ 4. Earned $10,000: yes

I am mega-impressed by your micro-house!
I don't know whether I'm hoping Jethro grows to be less of a trouble maker to make your gameplay easier or to hope that he gets more mischievous to ensure that many more funny moments in updates  :=)

That's an amazing micro home. I've studied it closely. The outdoor dining is the way to go. Do you have space for toddler beds? The nursery looks like it's 3x2. I'm realizing I wasted too much kitchen space when I did my micro. Kitchens are the spaces that can really get downsized.

The boys are lovely. :) Jethro seems like he wants to cause trouble. I can't guess at the origin of those names if there is something.
It is a little thing of my own. I call it "Heart Foam". I shall not publish it. Farewell! Patience, Patience, farewell!

Exit Bunthorne.
