Power of 10: 3.17. Caprice, Thy Name is Woman (14 Oct update)

@Shewolf13 and @reggikko
Thanks for your support for Desmond, but things have changed, lol. ;)

3.17: Caprice, Thy Name is Woman

Thursday, Week 18

Bea: But I'm not going to be an author or do a book collection, Mama.
Arihi: You should still master writing, Bea. Excuse notes, Books of Life…
Bea: Oh yeah! Being able to write love emails would definitely come in handy!

Brise: I'd been wondering lately how to manage my grandparents' graves.
We're not planning to celebrate the Day of the Dead and collect sugar skulls.
But we can't build a family graveyard until Bea moves out.

Today, I get a notice that the spirit of Grandma Mia and Auntie Zoe are fading.
I'm still working on my collection, so Arihi strengthens the connections of my grandparents and aunt.

We're all pretty excited to notice a new hairstyle for girls!
Oh, that's just Bea and Helen standing on top of each after returning from school.

Bea's sad to hear that both her sisters completed Freelance Botanist tonight.
Lately, I don't even let her take part in holiday events.

She shouldn't fret. Before long, she'll get her chance at all the aspirations she wants.

On Friday, Bea and Helen max their second part-time job (hence, the strutting), but not Bunny.
Bunny skipped work last night while Arihi and I weren't paying attention.
She'll need to work one more day if she wants to finish Renaissance Sim before Bea moves out.

Bea and Helen are more than happy to quit their evening jobs.

When I announce we'll be taking a trip to Selvadorada, Bea protests.
Apparently, she only needs two more Wellness levels before she can teleport.

Traveling to the yoga center in Newcrest, we encounter yet another thunderstorm.
They've been so frequent lately!

I check the weather forecast for Newcrest. Ugh!
Newcrest seems like a horrid place to live in the summer!

While Arihi and I head upstairs to the café, the others join a yoga class.

If the girls don't look like they're part of the yoga class, that's because they're not.
I'm not sure whether or not their tenseness from the thumderstorm acted as the trigger.
But, one after another, they enter a negative phase and quit the yoga class.
So, they're just practicing yoga for now, until the next class begins.

We've arrived in Selvadorada!
Following the Pries tradition, we are renting the villa nearest the marketplace.

At the Cantina, I notice my daughter chatting with a young man.
She seems rather smitten by him so, when they part ways, I introduce myself.
A young adult, Camilio Escobar is a squeamish, family-oriented bookworm.
He works as a vendor at Selvadorada's Marketplace, no relation to the infamous Pablo.

After chatting with Camilio, I decide to get to know Desmond better and discover he's an alien.
Now I'm not sure if he's the best choice for Beatrix.
Do we want a dynasty lineage of alien hybrids? Does saying that make me xenophobic?

Then, I hear from my wife that Bea has sent Desmond home.

Glancing around the marketplace, I notice Bea leaving with Camilio. Hmmmm…..

Beatrix (to herself): I'm just exercising my options….
Who knows how close Desmond and Camilio are to their adult birthdays?

Back at La Cantina, I raise my glass to Camilio who is possibly my future son-in-law.
My secret wish: "Please, Camilio! Remain a young adult for the next eight or nine days!"

Sunday, Week 19

While the rest of us relax at our rental villa, Bea begins exploring the jungle.
She's hoping to finish the "Defend against two natural disasters" task.
Then, she can stop earning satisfaction points until she moves out.

After exploring the temple once, Bea takes two more trips to Selvadorada by herself.
She finishes exploring the jungle and temple three times total, but still no natural disasters.
It's just as well. She must have been inadvertently completing whims in Selvadorada.
She'll just have to wait until she moves out before continuing with the Jungle Explorer aspiration.

Of course, she can't start her collection until she's on her own.
Nevertheless, she didn't do too badly loot-wise on her three trips.

Speaking of collections, I completed mine before we left for Selvadorada: genre books.
Notice that I've added the toy steamboat and toy canal boat to the display case.
They seem appropriate since my household resides in Willow Creek.
Of course, the toyboats are excluded from my collection's value of $13,011.

What a great feeling to be finished with all my requirements!

It's Friday at last! Helen and Bunny haven't attended school since Tuesday.
Like her sisters, Beatrix also uses her last vacation day from school.
We're just killing time, so she decides to learn to mix drinks.

We're hoping for a boy next, twins if possible!

We almost forget to place our magic beans in the Magical Plantsim Stump!
Not that Watcher is planning to have any plantsims in this dynasty.
But, just in case, she placed the stump in Magnolia Blossom Park weeks ago, when I first left San Myshuno.

Beatrix checks up on Camilio and Desmond; they're both still young adults.
She tries inviting Camilio over.
Much to our surprise, he arrives almost immediately.
After giving him a makeover via the closet, Bea appears to have made up her mind.

Bea: Thank heavens, it's finally time for my birthday!
I was having trouble keeping Mama and my sisters away from Camilio. Sheesh!
Here I go!

My third trait is Loves the Outdoors.
You can tell that Watcher really loves this trait!
My sisters both blow out their candles, too.

And I'm officially ready to start my new life!
Wish me luck!

Beatrix's move-out requirements: 0/10
   1. Career: Revealed soon
   2. Unique skill: Revealed soon
   3. Earned 10,000 satisfaction points: 9,860/19,860 sp
   4. Earned $10,000: $696/$10,000
   5. 10 good friends: 1/10 (including 1/2 non-human)
   6. 10 odd jobs: 0/10
   7. 10 parties: 0/10
   8. 10 whims for 10 different emotions: 2/10 whims
   9. 10 different community lots for min. 2 hrs each: 0/10
   10. 10-item collection: 0/10

Watcher's Remarks
*Mysterious Weather: I rechecked the calendar after the household arrived in Selvadorada and all the Mysterious Weather days had vanished.
Is summer weather in Newcrest really that bad?
*We hadn't planned for Bea to earn satisfaction points so close to the 10K requirement.
I will be revising the requirement to 19,860 satisfaction points. That's fair, right?

Go Brise! And good luck, Bea! I like Camilio, are you hoping for all red haired heirs then?

Ooh, Camilio is dreamy. I can see why Bea changed her mind. Newcrest seems to be the worst for mysterious weather in every season. I'm probably not going to have my Sims move there at all. You've caught up with me in gameplay and passed me in updating. Good job!

@Meg
It was a bit of a coincidence that Bea's most attractive spouse options also happened to be gingers. The founder Erwin was also a ginger.
It's fun seeing how long we can keep a founder's genetics going over generations, right?

Ooh, Camilio is dreamy. I can see why Bea changed her mind. Newcrest seems to be the worst for mysterious weather in every season. I'm probably not going to have my Sims move there at all. You've caught up with me in gameplay and passed me in updating. Good job!
I was so shocked at all the Mysterious Weather days on Newcrest's calendar that I posted that screenshot over on EA Answers HQ, haha.
Now, I'm considering the possibility of substituting Forgotten Hollow for Newcrest. Forgotten Hollow--you know I'm feeling desperate when that town seems like a better option!
I've realized that, as soon as I've played through the first week of the next heir's childhood, my desire to move to the next town takes root.

Aw, bummer, was hoping to see more of Desmond. But, Camilio is pretty awesome too. Can't wait to see Bea's adventures!
Sorry about Desmond! I didn't play an alien bloodline in my Rival Dynasties Challenge, either. It's something about their tinny, high-pitched voices...
Eventually, though, I'd like to do an alien-centric dynasty.  Also, Bea's Watcher might be in sim-love with Camilio, hehe.
I'm always super excited about building a new life in a different town! So glad you are, too!

@Joria
Your P10 founder has been living in Newcrest for a few seasons now. Do you check the household's calendar very often?
Was my summer Newcrest calendar more of a fluke? Is there usually not many days of Mysterious Weather, even in summer?
Curious minds are dying to know. Please elucidate us (so I can decide whether or not to skip Newcrest, which would be a bummer for a particular heir...)

I only had one day of Mysterious Weather in Newcrest with my heirs about to become teens.  The family pretty much stayed on the lot except for brief excursions to get married and such.  I did have thunderstorms etc. turned off so was surprised by the one, really violent thunder storm which appeared just in time to ruin an outdoor birthday party.  Bad weather did not really affect Newcrest, which is one of my favorite spots to play in with a founder.  Bathroom and grill right next door helps living cheap.  I had contemplated buying the weather machine but checked the calendar first and there were no MW question marks showing so I didn't buy it.  I played through spring and summer and will soon be in fall.
I love how this is rolling around.  In general, I'm not fond of ginger haired men, at least in RL, but boy is Camilio ever hot or what?!  Good choice, Beatrix.  I wouldn't want to do an alien in this game either, unless the entire family and founder were aliens.
Why not accomplish as much as possible before a move out?  Have to reread the rules again, I guess.  Me, I'd want them to have as much under their belt as possible so they can just focus on making a life and a better one than before.  Isn't it ok to achieve satisfaction points, cash, (which I know you can't keep), and work towards aspirations, parties, friends and such?  I'm always looking for that "Easy Button" I guess.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

@Joria
Thanks for sharing your experience with residing in Newcrest. One MW day in eight weeks is not bad at all, especially considering my sims in Willow Creek had two MW days in six weeks.
Yes, Camilio is a hawtie, for sure! LOL.
Quote
Why not accomplish as much as possible before a move out?
When Bea had around 8,500 satisfaction, I thought it would be okay for her to move out, earn an extra 1500 satisfaction, then call the 10k satisfaction requirement complete.
But since she's reached 9,860 satisfaction, it seems a bit cheesy to require only 140 more satisfaction to complete her requirement, haha.
After moving out, she'll earn a good amount of satisfaction from just switching around a bit. She won't take long to finish that requirement, even if I boost it to 19,860 satisfaction.

Again, thanks for sharing about Newcrest. I'd planned for a near-future heir to move there. I'd prefer Newcrest to Forgotten Hollow any day. ;)

Power of 10/4.18: Shockado in Windenburg (19 Oct update)
« Reply #157 on: October 19, 2019, 04:51:15 PM »
4.18: Shockado in Windenburg

Saturday, Week 19

Hey, my name is Camilio Escobar, born and raised in Selvadorada.
Yesterday, I left my hometown for the first time in my life.
I traveled to Willow Creek for my BFF Beatrix's birthday party.

She surprises me by ageing up then immediately moving out to Windenburg.
But then, she phones me and we're together again. Yes!

Since she's all alone, she naturally asks me--her BFF--to move in.
Back in Selvadorada, I had a little side business going besides selling exploration supplies.
What? You want to know what else I was selling?
Nah, you don't wanna know. My boss would have to kill you.

Anyway, yeah, thanks to my side job, I make a hefty contribution to Bea's  funds.

Bea introduces me to her Watcher whose eyes sparkle when she spies my $40k.
Watcher immediately starts building us a house. Whoa, whoa, not so fast!

C'mon Bea! We have to get outta here before Watcher spends all our money!
There's hardly any coin left to furnish the place.

First, we drop by  Bea's parents' place to pick up the gravestones.
Then we head to the restaurant Le Blanc in eastern Newcrest.
Le Blanc only occupies the front half of the 40x20 Sandy Run lot.

Camilio: Behind Le Blanc is the new family cemetery.
Bea: Rest in peace, Great-Grandpa Erwin, Great-Grandma Mia, and Grandaunt Zoe!

At Perfect Balance Sap, Bea murmurs that she has a flirty whim for sauna woohoo.
Um, okay by me since she already kissed me once.
But Grandma Escobar is probably turning over in her grave right now.

Bea is one strange lady!
When she whispers that she wants to get married, I propose but she rejects me.
Then, she turns around and proposes to me.
I'm a gentleman so I, of course, accept her proposal.
Still, why are we in such a rush? Not that I mind all the sauna woohoo.

The wedding happens so fast that I don't have time to invite anyone from Selvadorada.
However, I do get to meet every one of Bea's relatives.

Despite our gold-medal wedding party, Bea is sad about her failed pregnancy test.
She brightens up immensely when I reassure her that I'm prepared to keep trying.
What can I say? I'm a team player like that!

Sunday, Week 20

Bea and I are on the road to becoming Soulmates.
On Sunday, we go on our first silver date at Desert Bloom Park.
By the way, don't people outside of Selvadorada believe in beds for woohoo?
Sheesh, I'm talking big-time culture shock here!

Success!

Next, I invite Bea on a date to the Romance Festival.
With so many festival-goers around, the event's not very romantic at all.
But we do harvest a few common and uncommon plants there.

Bea wants to get started on Angling Ace so we can go fishing for dragonfruit.
Did she forget that I'm squeamish?
I'm happy to accompany her but she'll be fishing for dragonfruit by herself.

On Monday, Bea invites her mother Arihi over to mentor me while she's at work.
I'm surprised Mama Arihi is able to waddle over!
She must be in her third trimester already.

I spend the afternoon reading skill books, preparing for Renaissance Sim and Nerd Brain.
Our home's interior décor is way too "European" for my tastes.
Can't we stick to the Tudor aesthetic only for the exterior?

Bea returns home at 4 pm with her first promotion.
She's now a Friendly Lobbyist (Charity Organizer 5).
At first, she'd planned to join the Botanist career.
But she switched to Charity Organizer, because this 'hood gets so many walk-bys.

She's calming  down Desmond so he'll donate to her cause: No Sim Left Behind.

After an odd job, Bea goes to Selvadorada alone in hope of encountering a second natural disaster.
Since moving to Windenburg, she's already taken 3-4 short trips to Selvadorada, usually alone.
I hear she even tried staying at that small rental with the spiders, but no luck.

Bea's giving birth today so she works from home.
First, she gives a successful speech from a podium uptown.
Next, she and I paint a political mural at the Casbah Gallery. Fynn comes along to mentor me.

Back home, Bea goes into labor right in the middle of a fertility massage.
Twin boys, just as we'd hoped!
Bea's holding our firstborn son and heir, Rafael.
I'm holding our second-born son, Tomás.

We leave our bassinet burritos in the nanny's care and head to Selvadorada.
Bea manages to get turned into a skeleton. Don't ask me how!
She also earns a promotion while working from home.
So, we'll need to be home Thursday morning in time for that.

I get struck by a poison dart so we stop at the marketplace on our way home.
All the vendors are gone, so I whip out my trusty laptop.
Saved!
Now, back home to turn around for one more quick trip to Selvadorada.

Thursday evening, we get home just in time to age up the boys.
When they ask us for their first potty lesson, I carry our heir Rafael to the potty.
On the other hand, Bea makes Tomás walk. Huh, that must be tough love.

Bea reads to the twins first.
Meanwhile, I take stock of all of our unauthenticated artifacts.

Both Rafael and Tomás are Charmers.
Once they successfully share the love with an adult, they can interact with them.
So now all of Bea's family can help raise our boys. Cool, right?
Who me? I'm teaching Rafi blocks as we speak.

Here are the three of us, taking a break on Saturday morning.
My life's changed a lot since I left Selvadorada.

I had trouble adjusting at first (especially with all the no-bed woohoo).
But now? I can't imagine a life more perfect!

Coming next: Summer arrives in Windenburg!

Gen4 Heir: Beatrix Pries
Traits: Cheerful, Geek, Loves the Outdoors
Lot: The Summer House (Windenburg Countryside)
Spouse: Camilio Escobar (Squeamish, Bookworm, Family-Oriented)
Children: Rafael (heir) and Tomás.

Beatrix's move-out requirements:  2/10
   1. Career: Charity Organizer 6 (Fundraising Specialist)
   2. Unique skill: Still deciding 0/10
✔️3. Earned 10,000 satisfaction points: 10,000/10,000 sp
✔️4. Earned $10,000: $10,000/$10,000
   5. 10 good friends: 1/10 (including 1/2 non-human)
   6. 10 odd jobs: 3/10
   7. 10 parties: 1/10 (Wedding party)
   8. 10 whims for 10 different emotions: 9/10 whims
   9. 10 different community lots for min. 2 hrs each: 7/10
10. 10-item collection: 3/10 Omiscan treasures

Watcher's Remarks
*Family Cemetery: It's only a fountain, a statue, and some greenery, surrounded by fencing.
It offers no gameplay advantage to my dynasty challenge but adds sentimental value.

*San Myshuno Produce Stalls: They couldn't find one anywhere on Sunday evening. They ended up returning to the Romance Festival until it closed.
Once it vanished from the Fashion District, they returned to the Arts Quarter and found the produce stall in its usual spot. This has never happened to my sims before.

*Toddler beds: I can't believe I never noticed before. I've always chosen toddler beds on the basis of color, but I finally noticed yesterday that they have different Energy ratings.
The portable Little Big Bed offers Energy 3, but all the other beds only give Energy 1. *facepalms

This update made me laugh! Camilo’s culture shock, Bea’s strange behaviour (why did she reject his proposal?) and Camilio’s acceptance of it all. I don’t feel very sorry for him though, I think the house is beautiful, my favourite so far, and the boys are adorable.

Thank you for reading! I'm glad you found it funny. Mostly, I'm just laughing at myself and the things I make my sims do.
I usually wait until the day after a couple become girlfriend/boyfriend before the proposal. Same-day proposals are very likely to get rejected.
But yes, it was absurd she rejected him; I don't know why.  She's the one who got the whim for sauna woohoo (at the restaurant, no less).
Haha, it's a long story. *whistles innocently

I don't really understand how a Tudor house should look, but had a great time looking at photos of English country cottages.
So lovely! It almost made me want to use custom content, almost!
By the way, I thought about having Camilio buy a retraiting potion to replace his Squeamish trait.
Since you'll be randomizing traits for your P10 dynasty, however, I decided not to change it. :S

Can't wait to meet Catarina's toddler twins!

I loved reading Camillo's pov!  Laughed a lot at his bewilderment.  So, sauna idea pops up in the restaurant?  Bad timing that!  They seemed to handle it well.  The twins are absolutely adorable.  Isn't it strange how one has so many curls and the other barely has hair.  They both look to be on the darkish side with more of Camillo's skin tone.  I'm expecting toddler spam!  I'm not sure I could get my founder in sync with the last pregnancy the way you do but a toddler play date should be in the offing.  Wonder if she'll have boys or girls.  So, about fertility massage.  Didn't know there was such a thing!  I rely on ley lines I guess.  Also, thank you for the note about the toddler bed!  I just always went with decor and never looked at the ratings either.  I'm so jelly over the funds he brought!!  How nice to build a gorgeous house right away.  I'm glad you went more with English country cottage.  Victorian usually comes across as dark and dreary, at least in my opinion, although really, it wasn't ALL like that.  That's just the way it's usually shown.  Regency colors are brighter, more patterns and all.  Tudor is very dark and heavy with emphasis on dark reds, more like Moonlit Falls.  (Is that the name of the vampire town?)  I had that thing with the produce stall vanishing during a festival.  Came back to check something else out and voila, there it was!  Talk about relief!  I hadn't gone camping to buy tomatoes at the kiosk so was a bit concerned and relieved when it was there.  Why all the trips to Selvadorada and what about the Natural Disaster thing?  Is that part of that aspiration/career?  I've never played it but you are making it look more and more interesting.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Toddler play dates: The guest toddler needs to be invited from a different household than the host toddler. That's why Bea's mother got pregnant on the day that Bea moved out, then Bea got pregnant the next day.
Fertility massage: Any sim with Level 9 Wellness can be asked for or offer a fertility massage (I didn't check, I think it's Level 9).
Or you can place a massage table on the lot and "Hire a massage therapist" who always has Wellness 10. I'm so relieved that Bea didn't have triplets, lol.
Toddler beds: Haha, now I know why some of my toddlers needed more sleep than others. Not sure how I missed that!
Selvadorada: Bea's collection is Omiscan treasures, so she and Camilio visit Selvadorada whenever she can.
When the kids are nooboos and after toddlers max all their skills, the parents can head for Selvadorada and leave the kids with a nanny.
Also, Selvadorada might be my go-to place for spouse hunts. :)
Natural disasters: The "Encounter two natural disasters" goal is from the Jungle Adventures' Jungle Explorer aspiration.
Carl hasn't updated his Aspirations guide to include them yet, but I posted the goals and points for both aspirations in 2018. Here's the link:
    https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=29932.0
Tudor: I was just trying to match the look of Bea's house with the Windenburg Countryside neighborhood.
I should have done a one-story exterior with all the bedrooms in the basement. My floral designer will no doubt live in a frilly, pastel Victorian!
Thanks for reading!

Wowza, love Camillo's take on all this. lol Culture-shock indeed XD

Haha, we all know how hard it is to buy a nice bed when a household is starting out!
Spring in Windenburg was usually chilly; they spent most of their time in cold-weather outfits....

4.19: Toodle-Oo, Toddlers!

Sunday, Week 21

Ahhhhh, the first day of summer! It's me, Beatrix! I'm baaaack.

Today is New Skill Day, which gives boosts to all skilling.
I figure it's the perfect time to start my unique skill: Pipe Organ.

No worries about maxing Pipe Organ by accident, eh?

I wasn't going to mention this, but Papa Brise occasionally turns light blue.
The weather's warm today, so it's not like he's chilled or anything.
It's been happening to him ever since his young adult birthday, he says.

The bathtub shot!
Rafi and Camilio splash water all over the bathroom!

I spend all day on the Pipe Organ (Level 6!) and also do two odd-jobs.
It's dark out when I finally visit my younger brothers in Willow Creek.
Meet the twins, Casey (left) and Fabian (right).

A very late-night toddler play date!

Grandma Wynn and Grandpa Vicente arrive together.
They both look happy, though Gramps recently became an elder.

Papa Brise and Mama Arihi, as lovey-dovey as always.

Fabian looks like he's having so much fun!

That's Uncle Flynn. He's Papa's twin brother.
Uncle Flynn still lives at home and aged up to an elder with his parents.

Rafi loves his Great-Grandpa Vicente.
I wish they could spend more time together…

You can never have too many toddlers in one place!

Charmer toddlers are simply the best.
Share the love!
That's our Rafi (green) with Casey, and our Tomás (white shoes) with Fabian.

On Monday, I earn a promotion and discover that I'm off until Friday!
I spend the afternoon requesting donations from family.
There's even time to squeeze in an odd-job or two.

On Wednesday morning, I complete my unique skill.
New Skill Day is Watcher's new favorite pop-up holiday!

That evening, the twins max all 5 skills, so Camilio and I head back to Selvadorada.
We're counting on you, nanny!

We return early Friday to celebrate the twins' birthday.
As the firstborn, Rafael is the first to blow out his candles.

Rafael (left) and Tomás (right) both age up into cheerful boys.
They're both very handsome, though not quite identical.

Rafael's mouth resembles that of his Grandma Arihi.
When Tomás is older, he'll probably look more like Camilio.

By the way, the grave accent in Tomás is such a pain to type!
Can we all remember to stress the 2nd syllable, as in Toe-MOSS?  Thanks!

I come home with a promotion to Non-Profit Director (Level 8 ).
Sure I need to collect $5,000 in donations for my next promotion.
But I have a new social for requesting donations of $1,000 each.

It shouldn't take long. Plus, I need to make nine more good friends!

On Saturday, I'll complete my last two odd jobs.
Now, when our family visits Sulani, it will be strictly pleasure!

I have almost an hour before my last odd-job begins.
Just enough time to introduce myself to a random passerby.
His traits are horrid, but he's almost a good friend and does donate $1000!
I'll pick my other good friends more carefully…maybe.

Sunday, Week 22

Sunday morning, we're off to South Square Café.
The kids want to meet five new sims for Social Butterfly.
I make a few friends there myself, including a new good friend.

We also visit the Flea Market for several hours.
My brothers Fabian and Casey come along for the twins to befriend.

Even after they return from scouts, the twins and I continue socializing.
Rafael and Tomas only need 2-3 more friends for Social Butterfly.
I'm roaming the neighborhood, seeking amiable sims for future good friends.

This weekend has been super productive.
But we all deserve a relaxing day at the beach soon!

Watcher's Remarks
*Toddlers are adorable. Yet, it's always somewhat of a relief to be done with the toddlers stage...
I need to save Camilio to My Library--he's got some great genes so maybe he could found a different dynasty (I would replace his Squeamish trait...)
