Prologue

Hey there, my name's Erwin Pries. (In case you missed the livestream, my family name rhymes with "nice.")
That's me about a week ago, selling curios in my little shack without a care in the world.
Actually, I had lots of cares then, considering things in my hometown of Strangerville had been going progressively downhill.
That's when some sim and his so-called Watchette rolled into town like tumbleweeds. Whoosh!

Anyway, after I helped the dude solve Strangerville's big mystery, his Watchette pops the big question...
She says to me, "Hey Erwin, you feelin' up to a challenge?"

I thoughtlessly replied in the affirmative, after which everything started going haywire.
First, I suffered the various indignities of a make-over.
A little nip and tuck, longer hair, my nose is now a little less hawkish, and of course, a new wardrobe.
(Not to worry! I still have my illuminati T-shirt and colander hat!)

Next, I learn that I must leave Strangerville and move to Oasis Springs.
Apparently, this town ain't big enough for the both of us…

Arriving in Oasis Springs, I begged to live in Bedrock Strait.
I mean, just look at this hood--it's as dusty and grungy as my hometown! With a trailer, even!

Instead, I'm chauffeured off to a gated community.
(I know it looks like only an arch, but believe me: it's gated!)
I've become the newest resident of an exclusive neighborhood known as Skyward Palms.

And this here's my new home sweet home.
The only thing I'm keen about is its name: Arid Ridge.

Last week, a homeless conspiracy theorist.
Today, the founder of a ten-generation lineage and soon-to-be family man.
My scrawny shoulders feel crushed under these weighty new responsibilities.
Am I truly up to this?

Psyche!
I've got what it takes to slay those founder's requirements! Um, I hope.
Anyway, check out my sleazy neighbors across the street!
If they can make it here, so can I.  Right? Right!?

Watcher's note: I changed Erwin's top but you can still "see" the beeping of a planted bug.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words of support and encouragement!

@Shewolf13 and @Metropolis Man
This won't be a story with dozens and dozens of chapters (yeah, yeah, y'all can breathe a sigh of relief now), but I haven't really decided what I want to do yet.
Ideally, it will stay short and sweet. Oh, and also successful, hopefully.

@reggikko
Yep, yep, Erwin is a super cutie! I might have plucked his eyebrows a little, lol.

@Joria
Well, yes, of course, I've kept Erwin's traits. They're part of what makes him so adorkable.
If I find I can't complete his requirements on time, I'll just restart. I've never finished one of these dynasty challenges without a few failed attempts first. ;)

@Deklitch
Thanks! Sadly, Erwin doesn't have a fabulous hook like your founder and his grasshopper, uh, cricket... :)

@oshizu

Awww, I love your stories ^^ But I'm happy to read about your journey, either way ^^
You're so sweet, Wolfie!
It took me several days to figure out how to crop screenshots--I've pretty much forgotten how to edit screenshots.
My plan is to keep my narrative goals low by doing "highlight" chapters. :)

lol oh dear. I know how that goes. I am just getting back into trying to get my RKC going again and am trying to create a cohesive map using the maps from the sims' worlds, but I am failing miserably XD

Really looking forward to seeing more of what Erwin gets up to ^^

Good luck to Edwin! By sleazy neighbors, could he mean the Calientes? I'd recommend Dina for a spouse if so.

1.1: Life in the Fast Lane

It's me again, Erwin Pries. Thanks for stopping by once more.
My new life bewilders, so I truly appreciate your moral support.
I can't imagine how I'll be able to complete all those requirements.

With my starting funds of $10,000, I quickly sketch out a floor plan for a house.
Well, yeah, I imagine my future family would prefer to live above ground, right?
I'm going for the look of those double-shotgun houses in downtown Strangerville.

You're probably wondering about that weird narrow room on the left.

That's the staircase leading down to the basement.
For a paranoid sim like myself, a bunker is paradise. Preppers unite!
Maybe I can have a subterranean science lab someday!

Surprisingly, I rather love my new job in the Scientist career.
Funds are still tight, so showering at the gym is one way I make scientific breakthroughs.
The gym's also a great place for socializing. Will I ever meet other like-minded souls?

By the way, my spouse hunt isn't going well, but not through any fault of mine.
All the female sims I've met so far have been either adults or teenagers. WTH?

My watcher's hoping I'll meet someone nice at The Lab.
Unfortunately, both my female co-workers are already adults.
This one here's a mean kleptomaniac, though, so who even cares how old she is?

Hey, I think I might have found The One! She's a young adult named Mia Rodek.
I run into her Wednesday morning at the Rattlesnake Juice Bar, just before my work shift.
All I know about her so far is that she's Unflirty.

Seriously? Unflirty? You could have fooled me!
You think she comes on to all the guys like this? No time to find out until later.

I've been working 11-hour shifts this week, from 10 am until 9 pm.
Tonight, I just get home when a guy with a pasty complexion pays me a visit.
That guy gives me the creeps, so I invite Mia somewhere else to chat.

Mia: Erwin, why are you so dressed up?
Erwin: The big question is, why aren't you? Shimizu has a formal dress code.
Mia: Oooh, I've always wanted to dine here. And I'd like to get to know you better, too.

Watcher's note: I can't believe how cute Erwin looks in his formal wear. Squee!

Waiter: Is everything all right, sir?
Erwin: Gah, everyone is talking about me! Look there's my neighbor Katrina without her boytoy!

Over a late dinner, I learn that Mia is an unflirty, materialistic foodie.
Our traits don't really match, but we get along quite well.
She must not like what I ordered for her, though. She leaves her food untouched after one bite.

Two great things happen tonight at Shimizu.
First, I complete my goal of earning 10,000 satisfaction points.
Soon after, Mia agrees to move in with me!

Personally, I feel like our relationship is moving a bit too fast.
But, who am I to say? I've never had a girlfriend before Mia.
Our watcher is relentless.
She insists we visit the Perfect Balance Spa to, um, celebrate.

As you know, I have zero experience with girls and dating, but I really wanna know….
If Mia is unflirty, what are the flirty girls like?

I swear Mia and I didn't try for baby at the spa!
Surely you can imagine my shock when I hear Mia vomiting in the bathroom.
Briefly, I wonder who the father is, cuz I know it isn't me.

What a relief to hear her phone Shimizu to report food poisoning!
And don't you dare tell her that I ever doubted her virtue.

While I'm at work on Friday, Mia spends the day with Moira Fyres and Mila Munch.
She's learning to garden from Moira, whereas she shares the Foodie trait with Mila.

To be honest, I was just happy to find a halfway-decent young adult as my partner.
But post-makeover Mia is unbelievably gorgeous!

Mia loves gardening. It's like the bees love her almost as much as I do!
She wants to be a stay-at-home mom, and that's fine with me.

Thanks to the funds Mia brought with her, we've added walls and roofing to our home.
No wall or floor coverings yet. No windows yet, either.

Next week, I really need to prioritize an income-generating activity.
I have Level 5 Handiness, so woodworking is probably how I'll roll.

Saturday, I literally spend from sunrise to sunset doing odd jobs!
In the evening, I invite Mia out to dinner at Villa Bovine.
I wish I knew a more romantic place to propose to Mia, but she says yes, anyway.
We're engaged!

Mia's so excied about throwing our wedding party Sunday afternoon.
In the morning, I hope to squeeze in a few more odd jobs.
I'll leave the wedding plans up to Mia and her friends.

Mia: What are we doing at Aham Ashram so early Sunday morning?
Erwin: Well, first of all, Wellness is an essential skill for every new parent.
Mia: And…?
Erwin: Okay, busted. This is my 10th community lot so we're all taking a yoga class.

Coming next: A wedding party, a try for twins, and the birth of the heir.

I love the different ways we're approaching the challenge. :)

I should probably toddle Mr Cricket off to start his career sooner rather than later, shouldn't I? <G>
