Pam Great Idea-Now why didn't I think of that???

Carl yes the 3 was a mistake.  By me just placing it in my download folder obviously doesn't work, but after saving it to the desktop without the extention and double clicking the file works fine.  It opened the launcher with no problems, I went to downloads and clicked install. Just tried it and it's there in my game and works great!

Thank you both very much!

Oooh, people like my dress! Yay! ;D

Back to business: I'm having a very similar problem to the one Saltypaws had on the last page, but don't know how to fix it. When I click Download, I get the message: "The XML page cannot be displayed / Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. / Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/files/lots/Addison.S...'
When I try to "Save Target As" the item saves as an 'XML FILE' rather than a Sims 3 one and the item doesn't appear in my laucher. I don't know much about our computers, but I think we use Windows Internet Explorer at my house.

I bet I can fix all these headaches by zipping them. Browsers just don't seem to know what to do with a .Sims3Pack file....

EDIT: Done. Refresh the page and it should now link to a zip version. Hope this helps.

Yay, it worked! I just saved the zipped folder in My Documents and moved the contents into my Downloads, and sure enough it popped up in my launcher ready for installing. Thanks Carl, you've done a great job and now I'm even more excited about the Swap Shop!

I finally got one of the patterns installed, yay.  Now, if I could learn how to make something and send it in, I will be a happy camper.  I think I have the main idea, just not quite sure. :)

Well, I hope I got it done correctly.  I just sent in a male sim that I made to duplicate a tourist sim that I thought was very cute and muscular.  I hope it goes through, he is a hunk, so the ladies might download him more than the gents.  I was actually just trying to see if I did it right, if I did, that was too easy for me not to understand in the first place.  It takes us ole folks a little longer to get the hang of something, lol. :)

Now I understand why other webmasters zip things even when there's no compression to be had. It just eliminates headache. New policy for me from now on ;) Happy that could help and thanks to everyone for helping me iron things out.

Salty I got your submission but need some shots :)

Massive update today. 24 new objects courtesy of Pam. I'm done with her submissions now (though she says she can get me more). I have a few outstanding from a couple of people but otherwise am all caught up.  :D

On the Vehicle Download page, Pam has shared the beautiful Montalcino Fandango SE. Apparently this is only for folks with The Sims 3 collector's edition. Would someone who does not have that car please download it and tell me what happens?   :-\

EDIT: Actually, everyone can get the freebie set that gives the car here.

Edit ... again? A system error has occurred... doesn't look like the download works?

Maybe the Montalcino Fandango SE is a real rarity now?

Carl, the link still works OK for me.  I already had the car and the Holiday presents but went ahead and tried the download for you.  It worked and I guess I will now have duplicates of these item as the downloader said Success- lol! :D
I then logged out of my account and tried the link again and it opened the page saying it was a free download.
Maybe the store was busy when you tried it?

Ok good thanks. Apparently it wanted to open my Sims launcher which isn't on my system at the moment. I've relatively slow internet and a 12 hour download from direct2drive to get all my Sims installs back in action.

I submitted some of my homes.  Hope they'll help flesh out the swap shop.

Oh, sweet irony, deliver me from coincidence.

Screenshots - Sims and Lots

I've just discovered that Carl has been generous enough to provide us with a Gallery. (Thank you.)  So I was wondering:

When submitting a sim or lot to Carl's Sims 3 Swap Shop may I upload the screenshots (and a smaller preview image, if possible) to the Gallery and provide a link to those pictures when emailing Carl - rather than emailing Carl the screenshots directly?

(I'm including sims in this because it is so much nicer to see CAS pictures or in-game pictures - as in samoht04's Rabbit Character - of the sim rather than the pictures that are on the official Exchange.)
