Sevinn: Week 48This is my beautiful and perfect son, `Eht Sunburst, the last of this Dynasty. Say hi to the readers of our story, sweety.
OK, so he winked. That's his way of saying hi to you all. `Eht is neurotic like me and loves the cold, good thing since he is born on Tuesday, the first day of Autumn. He loves Chinese music (his grandma Lihua was from China) and the colour Seafoam. We'll find out his favourite food when he gets old enough to eat solids.
So how did this little one's life come to be, you ask. Well, I can't get married so I've never seen a point to having a serious relationship, it would just lead to the inevitable conversation that included me having to close the ring box. Why would I choose to get involved in a relationship if I'd just have to break the guy's heart anyway? I didn't think that was fair to me or him. But the Dynasty must be completed and there is no way I'm going to let a little thing like having a nooboo cause it to fail with me!
So, like any girl in my situation, I turned to the elders for help. I picked the craziest idea put forth: France + something called a "game glitch" = an original townie father for my child. No strings attached.
Generations ago, the family had this weird tradition of doing something called a potential spouse parade, I'm sure you guys have read about these things. And the family used to travel. Back when Therie was a child the family spent some time in France, which lead to every eligible male from France being invited over to Twinbrook for Therie's potential spouse parade when she became a teen. One of those young men never made it back to France. He became what I've come to understand as "stuck" in Twinbrook: he never moved into a house here but his picture in Therie's relationship book always showed him as visiting from France, he never made it home. He was invited over numerous times to see if his travel agent would call and say that a flight had been booked for him but every time he would simply say, "It's getting late I need to go home" and he would disappear back into the not-here-not-there state. Needless to say, a friendship was forged between this young man and every member of the Sunburst house; until the day that messages started arriving informing the family that he was getting old and we should pay him a visit. Knowing Grimm's affinity for crashing any type of gathering, the elders stopped inviting him over. Now, four generations later, Tu made the call.
Many of those of you that read our story voted for this man to marry Therie but he was passed over for a Twinbrook original townie offspring. After all this time, he said he would be honoured to father the last Sunburst. I really appreciate his insistence on courting me, supporting me through the pregnancy, and being there when our child was born. I love his old-fashioned values, they made what should have been a very awkward three days a delight, I never felt more cherished.
Saturday - the courtship:
Saturday - the Dynasty duty:
Sunday - the announcement:
Monday - the support:
Tuesday - the PAIN!:
Tuesday evening the Sunburst Dynasty sees the birth of the final Sunburst, a boy name `Eht, son of Sevinn and
Henri Fouchier, France.
Many of you may remember Henri from
Therie's childhood in France and subsequent
potential spouse parade. Thank you for "sticking" around, Henri, and providing the last Sunburst Dynasty heir.
Here is a picture of young Henri to refresh your memory:
So that's the story of `Eht. In other Sunburst family news, Dad is busy upgrading everyone's new umbrellas to unbreakable after a few get torn up by the wind.
On Friday, the Fall Festival rolls into town and some of the elders head over to the Central Park to partake in the festivities. There is leaf raking:
Splashing in puddles with newly fixed umbrellas to ward off getting wet from above:
Becoming a ghost (Tu) or peeing your pants (Therie and Fhore) after a trip through the Haunted House:
Bobbing for apples:
And making themselves sick in the Pie Eating Contest:
The best part of the evening though: two paparazzi down and out!
Back at home, I get `Eht up from his afternoon nap. (Check out the new Seafoam linens on the old Sunburst crib.)
It's time for my son to grow into a toddler and start the havoc he can create in this household of elders. Dad and I help `Eht celebrate with cake and noisemakers.
Here he is after his trip to the dresser and mirror. Check out the picture of his Dad above - he's got the same hair! [I decided yellow is a much more fun colour for `Eht.]
On another note, the ghost of Franklin enjoys the ... um, huge metal spinning thing in the backyard that I do not know the name of.
And as an apology for the lack of nooboo pictures of `Eht, I leave you with toddler cuteness! He loves my old horse toy.
Next Week: More toddler cuteness and Snow!
