Chapter 15: Girl Birthdays
« Reply #31 on: August 10, 2019, 01:48:13 PM »

Spooky Day dawns crisp and clear and sweet Summer takes care of some chores before heading to the Fall festival.

With the weather cooling off, all of the apple trees are now dormant and the plants have already given up their last harvest.

So all she had to do was dispose of a barren plant and she was free for the rest of the day.
Screenshot.jpg

Today it's Carter who plays with Rayne at the blocks table.

As they chat and get to know one another, Carter's also build up his handiness skill.
Screenshot-2.jpg

But when Carter finds out Summer's at the Festival, he decides to join her and he heads off on his bike, pedaling fast to catch up.

He might not like crowds, but the festival sounds too interesting to resist!
Screenshot-9.jpg

And me? I'm expecting again! Baby #5 is on the way!

As busy as we've been with four offspring, I'm sure you wondering why another one.

Well, I'm not really sure myself, Jerad and I are both only children and we love the idea of a large family.

Back in the city, I was so focused on parties and shopping, and well, me, children just didn't fit into that picture.

But here, with a loving partner, it just seems right.
Screenshot-7.jpg

But when the two kids get back from the festival it's time to celebrate Summer's birthday!

While Rayne and Autumn nap, Jerad, Carter, and I cheer her on.
Screenshot-12.jpg

And when the sparkles disappear, Summer enters her teen years and she decides she's a Cat Person!

I'm glad as Kobe needs someone around to give her lots of love and attention.

But it looks like Jerad's been shopping at the thrift store again, and her hair, well, it's just not Summer.
Screenshot-32.jpg

Thankfully, mom keeps sending the kid's clothes for their birthdays!

And we pick a style much more in keeping with Summer's personality.

It's going to be winter soon, so though Summer likes the easy care of a short cut, she adds a hat to keep her a bit warmer.

Here's her new look with her Fall/Winter Everyday outfit.
Screenshot-41.jpg

And one of the first things she does is help Carter with his homework.

Now that she's a teen her and can help out with the younger children, her Family-Oriented trait's really kicked in.
Screenshot-44.jpg

But Jerad and I still do our share with the little ones.

I help Rayne finish up on her walking and she masters it!
Screenshot-54.jpg

Jerad feeds Autumn her last bottle as a baby.
Screenshot-52.jpg

I get in one last newboo snuggle.
Screenshot-42.jpg

Then it's Autumn's birthday!

After Summer and Carter leave for school, we bring her to her cake.
Screenshot-70.jpg

Autumn takes after me and Summer with her red hair!

She likes pink just like Carter, so she gets the same rose-colored wardrobe as her big sister Rayne.

And look at that big smile as she plays with the peg box for the first time!

My own smile grows as her joy becomes my own.
Screenshot-92.jpg

Rayne's learned to walk, talk, and potty, so we let her play with the xylophone for some fun time.
Screenshot-97.jpg

Then I focus on teaching Autumn to talk, telling her she'll be walking soon, and how exciting that will be for her.

Though I think I'm more thrilled with that than she seems to be.
Screenshot-100.jpg

Then Jerad, Summer, and I have a night out as we attend Carter's badging ceremony for scouts.

He looked so cute in his uniform!

But this ceremony highlights that his days of childhood will soon be coming to an end.
Screenshot-112.jpg

And Kobe's grown into a cat!

We get home just in time to blow a few noise makers in her honor!
Screenshot-128.jpg

Then Jerad takes a moment to talk to the new little one that we're expecting.

We've both got wishes for a boy or a girl, so we're safe on this one.

Though I know we'd both like to give Carter a brother.
Screenshot-157.jpg

But before we can get our tired toddlers into their cribs, it's baby time!

Summer panicked a bit then her common sense kicked in and she picked up Autumn to take care of that task.

But with Jerad in front of our bedroom door freaking out, she didn't get far.
Screenshot-201.jpg

We finally got it sorted out with Summer putting Autumn in her crib, and slipping into her own bed, as Jerad takes care of Rayne.

And in a flash of light, little Winter joined our family!

She's Friendly and Loves the Outdoors, just like her big sister Summer.

Now that I think about it, I guess we should have known it was going to be a girl.

It's the first day of winter, of course!
Screenshot-208.jpg

That evening it's a double party as it's Rayne's birthday as well as Summer's first slumber party.

With a crowd of teens expected at any moment, Carter made himself scarce.

And Kobe is learning how to hunt, pouncing on every unsuspecting bug and speck of dust in the house!

Jerad brings Rayne to the cake as Summer and I cheer and shout out birthday wishes.
Screenshot-217.jpg

And as the teens pile into the kitchen, Rayne ages to child, becoming Family-Oriented like her big sister.

Nolan was the first guest to arrive and I couldn't help but notice Summer's thoughtful stare at her best friend.

Though her gaze wasn't being returned as Nolan and Rayne were both focused on something else.

Mickey Culver waved as he came in and he looks more like his mother every time I see him.

And another boy sat at the table to work on his homework!

A party and he does homework? On a Friday night?

Kids sure are different here!
Screenshot-232.jpg

Then a girl joins him and I think maybe the homework thing has other benefits besides getting caught up on school work.

So kids aren't really all that different!

But my attention is drawn to my own daughter as I realize she's changed into a sleep shirt and is still chatting with Nolan.

Being best friends, I have a feeling that it wouldn't take much to change their friendship into something more.

And then I hear Summer ask Nolan if he's seeing anyone!

When he says no one special, she asks him if he wants to go to prom with her.

He accepts but not with a lot of enthusiasm. Maybe he doesn't like crowds like Carter?

Seeing Summer focusing solely on Nolan, I'm hoping prom doesn't mean anything besides attending a school dance!

And it hits me how much I've started worrying about Summer and her future.

Just a little taste of what Daddy went through with me?

With this first boy/girl party, I'm very aware that I'm now the mother of a teenage daughter!
Screenshot-237.jpg

But then I realize Summer and her guests shouldn't be my whole focus tonight.

It's Rayne's birthday and she needs some attention as well.

And now that she's a child, she'd like to choose some of her own clothes.

Rayne may be family-oriented now like Summer, but that's where their similarity ends.

Rayne is blonde and black is her color of choice.

Mother helped me out a bit and sent some divine clothes.

I may not be able to afford high fashion now but I still love nice clothes!

Her everyday black outfit with a fuzzy white vest with pom-poms.
Screenshot-260.jpg

And the cutest winter jacket in black and white with matching black mittens.
Screenshot-266.jpg

It's certainly been the week of girl birthdays!

Summer's teen birthday on Wednesday.

Autumn's toddler birthday on Thursday.

Winter's birth on Friday.

And Rayne's child birthday on Saturday.

Along with a teen slumber party that made me realize I am now the mother of a teenage daughter!

I'm not sure what could be worse than that.

Unless it two teenagers!

Carter ages up to teen in Chapter 16: The Lone Son

I have been enjoying your story since the very beginning.  I look forward to finding a new chapter to read.  I've even thought about trying a farmacy of my own.  I like all of the farm content in The Sims 3.  I would like to see a farming pack for The Sims 4. Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much Caterina! I've been enjoying playing this one. I started it after reading Sonshine's story and checking out the Grow as You Go Farmacy rules. Though I'm only loosely following them. Sometimes my sims end up having minds of their own despite the direction I'm trying to go in. Like Brooke and Jerad having five kids! That wasn't part of the plan at all, but it seems like life gets in the way of even the best laid plans, even in sims! And it's too funny that every girl born as been at the start of a new season. Except for Rayne, but her name worked out too. Brooke and Jerad know better than I do where they want their life to go! And a new chapter is coming up right after this.

Chapter 16: The Lone Son
« Reply #34 on: August 11, 2019, 04:54:14 PM »

Well, things didn't go quite as we planned trying to give Carter a brother.

So now he's got four sisters.

One older, Summer, and three younger, Rayne, Autumn, and Winter.

But what we both forgot is that Carter is a loner, so having a brother probably wouldn't make any difference to him.

And now that he's almost a teen, the age gap would be so big they couldn't really hang out anyway.

Our little loner Loves the Outdoors so much he even dreams of being outside in the trees and fresh air!
Screenshot-46.jpg

And while Summer dreams about her recent birthday, Carter dreams of fishing in the ponds all around our town.
Screenshot-48.jpg

Even chatting about it at dinner time with Summer who shares his passion!
Screenshot-134.jpg

So before his birthday, Carter does some special things on his own.

Jerad said he'd love to tag along as he promised they would go fishing together, but Carter wanted some alone time.

So he went fishing at the pond across the road.
Screenshot-372.jpg

Then skating in the rink at the Winter festival.

There wasn't a big crowd so he enjoyed it a lot.
Screenshot-178.jpg

Then he realized the pond there wasn't totally frozen, so he fished some more.

But one of the park attendants was nervous about him falling in and stayed so close Carter could barely cast his line!
Screenshot-212.jpg

Then it was time for Carter's big day!

While Autumn and Winter were still asleep, we brought out his cake.

He stood on the stepstool making his wish as Summer and Rayne cheered him on.
Screenshot-291.jpg

Jerad and I had been across the room to give Carter some space.

But Jerad couldn't resist joining in the celebration for our only son.

The way Carter smiled and clapped, I don't think he minded.
Screenshot-297.jpg

And then our only son aged up to teen!

And chose Angler for his teen trait.

No surprise there!
Screenshot-303.jpg

And though Carter likes pink, he's decided it's not really practical working on a farm.

He's safe for now though as it's still too cold and all of our plants and trees are dormant.

So he chooses a winter everyday outfit in gray with a light pink shirt.

With his dark coloring, he pulls off pink well and I think he's going to be a girl magnet!
Screenshot-52.jpg

For his outerwear he chooses a practical black jacket and jeans with sturdy boots.
Screenshot-50.jpg

But what was a surprise, a big one, was the special gift from Daddy.

He said since we live in the country and now have two teens in the family, it wasn't a luxury but a necessity.

Something that will certainly help with getting our produce to market.

A truck, our first vehicle!

It's not exactly new, but it's new to us, and Summer and Carter can't wait to learn to drive.

The teens saw it in the driveway when they went out to catch the bus for school.

But I was adamant that there would be no driving during blizzards.

I know, I know, but it's a mom thing!!!

And I've decided that the honor of teaching them to drive will be bestowed on Jerad.

As a city girl, I never learned myself!
Screenshot-170.jpg

One of the first things he does as a teen is play with Autumn.

He tickles her tummy and her laugh rings out as she enjoys her big brother's attention.
Screenshot-56.jpg

Then he feeds Winter a bottle.

I didn't have any siblings so I never got the opportunity to care for little ones.

And I'm pretty sure getting all of Daddy's and Mother's attention was a big factor for me being totally self-involved.
Screenshot-63.jpg

But Carter takes it a step further as he cuddles her, starting a family bond that will hopefully grow over time.
Screenshot-67.jpg

Not to be outdone, Summer's comfortable enough to play with her youngest sister.
Screenshot-74.jpg

And rock her for some big and little sister bonding time in our new playroom, which is off the kids' tiny bedroom.

With such a houseful, Daddy insisted on covering the cost of it so the kids' had a nice place to play.

It's a bit premature for any expansions to the house but we never expected to have such a full one so I'm okay with fudging on that detail.

Besides Daddy said that when it's a necessity and not an extravagance, it's okay to bend the rules a bit.
Screenshot-75.jpg

Rayne takes advantage of her grandparents generosity by playing at the blocks table and maxing her child handiness skill!
Screenshot-94.jpg

And for her diligence we reward her with free time that she spends riding the rockin' rider.

Once she's showered and in her winter nightie, she hops on and gets ready to chase the bandits!
Screenshot-61.jpg

Our teens are already sharing the responsibility of caring for their younger siblings and it makes Jerad and I so proud.

But they help out around the house too, especially with laundry that seems to be a never ending task with 7 of us!

We still have to hang clothes out on the line, even in winter as we don't have the luxury of a dryer yet.

But once Carter's taken care of that chore, he has a little fun making a snow man!
Screenshot-68.jpg

And as Carter's reward he gets his first driving lesson!

Summer had a brief one earlier but it started snowing so they had to end her session.

But the snow has abated, and Jerad and Carter head off.

A bit jerkily as Carter gets used to the brake and gas pedals.

They both look very serious about it so I'm not worried about accidents.

Well, not too much! Besides, Moms are supposed to worry about things like that!
Screenshot-86.jpg

While they're gone, Summer works on her Athletic skill.

Not because she's crazy about it as much as she wants to make sure she looks nice for prom.
Screenshot-78.jpg

I teach Autumn her last few words to help her max talking.

She found the words 'chips and dip' to be really funny!

But she mastered talking and had fun at the same time so it was a win-win.
Screenshot-98.jpg

Then something happened that took us by surprise.

Jerad's birthday!
Screenshot-139.jpg

My big teddy bear isn't quite so muscular anymore.

But I find his gray hair quite attractive.

So much so that I pop a wish for another child!

But Jerad isn't sure that he's up for another baby now that he's an elder.

Especially since Autumn's still a toddler, and Winter's still a nooboo.

But we'll see how he feels once they age up and he's a bit more comfortable with his advanced years!
Screenshot-145.jpg

We've got two teenagers in the house now and they've both had a driving lesson.

They have a ways to go to earn their certificates and go out on their own, but it will happen in time.

Prom is coming up soon and Summer's going with Nolan.

But Carter hasn't made any special plans yet and isn't big on crowds so we're leaving that up to him.

Jerad's become an elder and though happy with it, he's a bit concerned with how young some of our children are.

Thankfully, Autumn and Winter have birthdays soon so we'll only have one little one in the house with four in school.

Unless I can talk Jerad into another baby!

I know, I know, our funds are low, the house is small, planting season is coming up, and we're going to be very busy.

But the heart wants what the heart wants!

To my own surprise and delight, I'm no longer so self-centered that I only focus on shopping and parties.

Now I'm totally focused on my family!

It's taken me awhile, but I'm learning what's precious and important in life. (Thank you Daddy!)

And I'd like to tell him and Mother that in person, if I can persuade them to visit Aggie's Corner!

Let's find out it Chapter 17: Family Reunion?
Coming soon.

Chapter 17: Family Reunion?
« Reply #35 on: August 12, 2019, 03:58:52 PM »

The older kids catch the bus Monday morning.

It's Carter's first day in high school, and Rayne's first day ever!

Summer and Rayne both shoot concerned glances at Carter as he's really nervous about spending all day in crowded class rooms.
Screenshot-40.jpg

And I mop up yet another puddle from our leaking sink.

I can't wait 'til we can save up enough money for some better plumbing fixtures, especially the kitchen sink and that darn commode!

As I mop though I get to listen to Autumn play her xylophone.

She's mastered it so she sounds pretty good now.
Screenshot-151.jpg

But with my chores over for now, I help her with her last toddler skill, walking.

I stand pretty close so she doesn't feel intimidated by too far a distance.

And she takes her first tentative step towards me!
Screenshot-156.jpg

Then she heads off to the playroom for some peg box time.

But Kobe has different ideas and wants to make friends with her!

Autumn raises her arms in delight as Kobe sniffs her foot.
Screenshot-23.jpg

With Autumn's occupied, I check on Winter.

She needs some mommy play time and I can't resist kissing her sweet little nose and hearing her baby gurgles.
Screenshot-19.jpg

Summer stayed after school to work on an extra credit project on the school boiler.

When she was finished, Nolan was waiting for her as he'd just finished with sports practice.

They chat a bit about the weather and confirm their prom arrangements.

Nolan tells her he'll meet her there but he's got a surprise for her.

Summer's anxious to see what it is, so she says goodbye and heads home to get ready for their big night.
Screenshot-110.jpg

Carter didn't have an extra curricular activity, but he was invited over to the Dean's new place.

Turns out their new house in town was just temporary while they had a home built*** by that wonderful architect, MrsFlynn.

Right down the road from our place!

It's huge and I try to fight off a stab of jealousy.

Then I decide there's no reason to be jealous, I should enjoy our friends' good fortune.

But the size of their new place and their orderly garden does give me some definite goals for our own lot!
Screenshot-45.jpg

Carter shared some pictures of each of the floors with us.

The main floor with the requisite kitchen/dining and living rooms, plus a master suite with it's own private bath and 2 nurseries that have a shared bath between them!

I keep reminding myself I am not jealous. I hope that if I keep repeating it, the feeling will go away.
Screenshot-65.jpg

The 2nd floor with 4 additional rooms, another bedroom with a double bed and it's own private bath, 2 more bedrooms both with twin beds with another shared bath between, and an exercise room.

And a large community area that's big and bright with an easel and paints.

I can't help but think of our three older kids all sharing one room, and how they'd love having all this space.

But then I remember that our penthouse in Bridgeport was huge too, and all the space just kept the three of us further apart.

At least our small home keeps us together as there's really no where else to be!
Screenshot-67.jpg

Then Carter shows us the huge basement that currently is being used as a recreation area.

It has shuffleboard, foosball, and ping pong tables!

And another full bathroom, which makes five.

That really does make my heart ache. Imagine five bathrooms!

At this point I'd be thrilled with a 2nd one in our home.

Well, hopefully, the Deans' won't mind visitors, as I can just see our horde descending on their place avidly.

After homework and chores of course.

Jerad and I have been really trying to instill having a balanced lifestyle in all of our children.
Screenshot-68.jpg

After a tense day in crowded classrooms, Carter needs to alleviate his stress, so he heads for the Dean's basement first thing and plays some shuffleboard with Brina.

He told us he was cheering himself on so loud he was surprised we didn't hear him at our house!
Screenshot-85.jpg

Then Jerad takes over with Autumn's walking lessons and she masters it as she toddles toward him!
Screenshot-54.jpg

Spring has finally arrived and I head outside to our orchard, enjoying the warmer air and sunshine as I tend the apple trees.
Screenshot-49.jpg

With my outside chores finished, I indulge in a quick run through the sprinkler.

But that doesn't last long as the water is pretty cold.

It certainly woke me up though!
Screenshot-62.jpg

Rayne brings Brandy Rios home with her after school and they work on homework together.

I'm glad Rayne's making friends, but I have a feeling Brandy may be a bit older than her.

I know Brandy aged to child after Summer, so I'm thinking she'll be a teen soon and heading off to high school.

Who knows, maybe Carter will meet her!?!

Oops, there I go pairing up my children already.
Screenshot-77.jpg

After homework, Rayne and Brandy headed for the playroom for some play time.

Kobe wasn't going to be left out so she headed in there too.
Screenshot-72.jpg

Carter got to meet Nikki and Harmony Dean when they got home from school.
Screenshot-88.jpg

But being inside with all the Dean's was getting to be too much for Carter, so as the sun went down, he headed outside to the deck to tell a ghost story.

Nikki listened with mock frightened gasps as delicious shivers raced up and down her spine at Carter's ghostly tale.

I've heard romances have started with less, so maybe this is the beginning of something?

Listen to me, matchmaking for Carter again!

I really hope I'm not going to turn into one of those moms!
Screenshot-103.jpg

Summer got dressed in her formal outfit for prom.

But she got in a quick snuggle with Winter before she heard a car horn outside.
Screenshot-73.jpg

She sat inside the fancy white limo in stunned awe as the driver told her the car was compliments of the Dean family.

Jerad and I continue to be astounded by Brina and George's generosity.

I was right not to be jealous of them as they share their good fortune with us at every opportunity.

Giving Summer a truly memorable start for prom night!

One that got better and better as the evening progressed.

Nolan stayed by her side all evening, being very attentive, getting her punch and dancing every dance.

Then during a slow dance, he asked her to go steady!

She'd barely nodded, when cheers rose up and she was voted prom queen.

Summer came home floating on air.
Screenshot-75.jpg

While Summer was out, little Winter aged up to toddler without a cake!

Jerad and I felt bad that we'd been so caught up in other events we'd forgotten our youngest's first birthday.

He makes up for it with some daddy time as he cuddles are newest redhaired child.
Screenshot-101.jpg

Then, acting very mysterious, Jerad hands me an address in town.

He says I should go check it out as he begins Winter's toddler training.

Winter's such a fast learner she quickly toddles over to him as he grabs her in his arms!
Screenshot-107.jpg

I've been stuck in the house for awhile, so I can't resist checking out the Spring Festival on my way across town.

I splurge and get my face painted with some cute hearts.

I head to the address Jerad gave me and am totally shocked when I'm invited inside.

By my parents!

Daddy and Mother surprised me with a visit to Aggie's Corner!

No wonder Jerad lost track of the time with this on his mind.

My head fills with thoughts of Daddy as I look back and forth between them.
Screenshot-111.jpg

Then I giggle when mother asks what on earth I have painted on my face.

Mother's so neat and proper, I don't think she'd ever consider having her face painted.

But I'm proved wrong when she actually laughs with me and says that whatever they are they match the happiness she can see shining through me!
Screenshot-108.jpg

Mother's tired from the journey so she excuses herself and retires for the evening.

That's how she puts it too! Oh, how I've missed her!

I didn't even realize until I saw them, but I've missed both of them terribly.

Then Daddy shocks me with his next revelation.

They're not here for a visit.

He's retired from his company, becoming Chairman of the Board, and he and mother are staying here!

He tells me that having continually lectured me for so many weeks, he's finally taking his own advice.

I'm so stunned, I can only gasp in surprise and delight.

And Daddy laughs and says that's a first, me being at a loss for words!

Then we hug and he promises to visit us as soon as they get settled in as they are eager to meet all of their grandchildren.

Daddy shakes his head as he says, "Five of them! And all the girls as beautiful as you. I just can't get over the change in you Brooke. You look so confident and happy. I know we've talked and you've sent letters and texts, but it's just not the same as seeing you in person!"

I can only nod as tears form in my eyes.

My two families united at last!
Screenshot-117.jpg

So much has happened today, yes, it's only been one day!

Spring has arrived and I've already been able to tend our garden.

The older children meeting new kids around town.

Summer's amazing prom night.

Winter's toddler birthday.

My parents moving to town!

My cup floweth over! I've no idea where that came from, but it's so apt.

And now I get to introduce my children to their grandparents!

With Autumn's birthday right around the corner.

Let's see what other surprises await us in Chapter 18.
Coming soon.

_____________________________________________________________________________________
***Author's note: A big thanks to MrsFlynn for sharing her new build of the Dean's home that she's planning on using in her own game. She sent it to me partially finished so I could furnish and decorate the children's rooms and give them a personal touch for the children Brina and George have in my game! I made a 2nd nursery on the main floor since the house is so spacious and they had both a toddler and a nooboo. Then when I was barely in live mode, Harmony aged to child. Lucky for me I'd already put 2 twin beds in Nikki's room!

Chapter 18: Family Time
« Reply #36 on: August 15, 2019, 04:42:25 PM »

The next morning, Winter wakes up with a smile and Jerad can't resist snuggling her close.
Screenshot-132.jpg

Then he works on her walking until she refuses!

So he gives her some play time while he takes a shower.
Screenshot-130.jpg

When he gets back, he realizes she needs a potty break.

Jerad's an old hand at this and we're eager to get this skill out of the way fast.
Screenshot-120.jpg

With both toddlers in their cribs for a nap, and the older children at school, Jerad and I spend some time in our garden that's finally free from it's winter dormancy.

Since the winter's here are brief, all but a few of the plants weathered the cold season and some are even ready for harvesting.

So Jerad and I get to work while our intrepid hunter Kobe tackles another rodent, bug, or squirrel!

She hasn't caught much yet, but her hunting skill is increasing so we encourage her as much as we can.
Screenshot-135.jpg

That afternoon daddy comes to visit and Carter eagerly chats with him about his new job at the mausoleum.

He would have preferred the bookstore, except for the people, so chose ghostly ones over live bodies!
Screenshot-142.jpg

And then he enthusiastically starts telling his grandfather all about the Dean's new house.

Carter: "It's really huge and pretty fancy Grandad! I prefer the outdoors, but if I had to be cooped up inside, a house like one MrsFlynn designs would really be awesome! The recreation room in the basement is a blast!"

Daddy listens intently storing this information away, though I wasn't aware of it at the time.
Screenshot-6.jpg

But his grandfather is concerned about his complaints with school.

Until Carter explains that it's not the work, it's the crowded halls and classrooms that send him over the edge.

Daddy suggests looking into a private school, something that wouldn't be as crowded, which sounds good to Carter.

But with his sisters and his friends going to the same school he decides to tough it out in public school with them.

Daddy tells him that that's the spirit, don't give in or give up!
Screenshot-149.jpg

When Carter tells him he needs to get going on his homework before it gets too late, I know daddy's already connecting with him.

I was never that diligent about my homework or anything to do with school except for clothes and parties!
Screenshot-8.jpg

Then when Summer comes in after her after school job and starts working on her homework, I know he's impressed with the job Jerad and I have done with our children!
Screenshot-10.jpg

So much so, that he can't resist giving Carter a hand with his Economics, a subject daddy excels in!

Little Winter happily plays with her xylophone serenading them as they study.

Kobe heads for her scratching post as Jerad, ever busy, takes care of the lone potato plant in the planter.
Screenshot-32.jpg

After her homework, Rayne helps out in the garden, harvesting pumpkins.

She was so proud of being able to help out now that it's okay for children to work in gardens.***

Since our town is trying to revitalize it's population, they've allowed children to harvest and water plants.

It's definitely a big help, but it's only after homework is done because schoolwork comes first.
Screenshot-151.jpg

With her homework and garden chores finished, Rayne gets a bottle for Autumn.

She looks at the rockin' rider but her thoughts are focused on the Spring Festival that's come to town.
Screenshot-19.jpg

Since Summer wants to go too, we give the girls permission to check it out.

But Summer confesses she hasn't finished her homework yet.

With her promise to work on it, we hear both of them chatting excitedly about what they want to do there as they hurry out the door.

Upon arriving, Rayne couldn't pass up a freshly grilled hotdog!
Screenshot-43.jpg

But Summer stuck with her promise of working on her homework.

Just being outside and enjoying the sights and sounds of the festival was enough to make her happy.
Screenshot-45.jpg

With a few hours left before curfew, Jerad takes Carter out for a nighttime driving lesson.

And he does so well, he earns his certificate!
Screenshot-62.jpg

I get Winter ready for bed, with potty time, a fresh diaper, and her bedtime bottle.

Then it's one last cuddle before I pop her in her crib.

I'm a little sad when I think about her toddlerhood coming to an end.

Jerad's convinced me that with the ever growing needs of our garden and family of seven, our family is now complete.
Screenshot-59.jpg

As I chat with daddy about the weather, Summer and Rayne get home just before Rayne's curfew.

Then I realize daddy isn't just talking about the weather to be polite, he's wondering how the roofs holding up on the old farmhouse.

I'm honest as I tell him it's been touch and go.

No big leaks anymore since Jerad moved in all those weeks ago, but he's afraid it's going to need replacing as he's patched it as much as possible.

Daddy just looks thoughtful, but I know he's got something on his mind.
Screenshot-70.jpg

We all head off to bed since it's a school night and the toddlers will be up early.

I'm sure I would have been even more alarmed if I'd seen daddy clapping delightedly on his way out the door.
Screenshot-79.jpg

The next morning carries a chill in the air as I grab the clothes off the line just as the sun is rising.

I would never have believed you if you'd told me that one day I'd love getting up with the sun!

In the city, I went to bed as the sun was coming up, but those days are far behind me now.

The strange thing is I don't miss those days much.

In fact, my new life is so full with Jerad, the children, the garden, and now daddy and mother in town, I really couldn't wish for anything more.

I laugh to myself as the thought comes unbidden into my mind, except maybe a winning lottery ticket!
Screenshot-89.jpg

With everything harvested and most of our plants dormant again with this mornings cooler temps, I head to the elixir shop and consign most of our crop again.

No real big cash crops yet, but the clerk assures me our produce is being sought after since the quality keeps going up.

I give in to my thought from earlier and spend $10 on a lottery ticket from the grocery store on my way home.
Screenshot-93.jpg

When I get home, Summer's got breakfast under control and is expertly flipping pancakes.
Screenshot-96.jpg

Jerad's busy with Winter, starting her on her first words.

She doesn't repeat any yet, but looks cute as a button as she smiles at him.
Screenshot-95.jpg

And I find Carter taking care of Autumn, getting her a fresh diaper after a long night.

Then tickling her until her laughter fills the house.

It's one of the best sounds, better than music, children's laughter!
Screenshot-101.jpg

With breakfast almost ready, Carter and Rayne join us in the kitchen.

Rayne greets me with a morning hug and I squeeze her tight!

Our children are growing up so fast.
Screenshot-111.jpg

Later that day, Jerad reads a toddler skill book with Autumn hoping to complete it before her birthday.

Summer uses her family-oriented trait to speed up Winter's talking skill.

She's learning pretty fast, and saying word after word now.

And daddy and mother came over to spend some time with their youngest grandchildren.
Screenshot-162.jpg

Things are moving right along, too fast sometimes!

The children are getting to know their grandparents.

And they continue growing, as children do.

In fact, we have three birthdays coming up!

Join me for Chapter 19: More Girl Birthdays
Coming soon.

Wow! The garden is huge! I like how the house is a little rundown and is slowly getting improvements. It's a nice touch to the story.  :)

Mrs.Flynn's buildings are fantastic! She always adds such wonderful detail to her homes.

Chapter 19: More Girl Birthdays
« Reply #40 on: August 18, 2019, 09:06:29 PM »

Carter takes Rayne to the Spring Festival for a little day time fun.

He gets his face painted like a comical clown!

I'm glad our Loner has a whimsical side!

Then Rayne searched for eggs and danced her little heart out while Carter got in some fishing.

They had a great time and then headed home for their sister's birthday party.
Screenshot-133.jpg

I was in the garden when our first guests arrived.

I'm surprised when I realize that the very grown up looking teen is Nikki Dean!

I'm still playing matchmaker as I wonder if she'll become better friends with Carter.

She does like pink after all!
Screenshot-160.jpg

Jerad brings Autumn to her cake as the older children and I cheer wildly.

Mother seems somewhat stunned by our loud cheering and doesn't seem to know where to focus.

With her being Proper, it may be hard for her to ever actually enjoy noisy parties!

I also notice Brandy Rios, Olivia and Jason's daughter, and Agnes Crumplebottom's granddaughter, standing close to Carter.

I guess I better leave the matchmaking up to the teens!
Screenshot-185.jpg

Autumn does her birthday sparkle spin with Kobe wondering if she'll now be able to help her hunt!

Jerad's attention is caught by something, possibly a fairy that's joined the party. Their wings are fascinating!

And Summer's gaze is lost across the room. I'm sure Nolan's over there looking back!
Screenshot-203.jpg

Then when Autumn's a child amid all her sparkles, they both focus back on her.

Summer's not sure whether to cheer for Autumn growing up or be saddened by the loss of her toddlerhood.

I know just how she feels, with Winter being our only little one now.

But the focus should be on our birthday girl who has gained a trait from her father.

Perfectionist! Oh, with two of them in the house now, it should be easy to keep everything picked up!
Screenshot-204.jpg

Everyone grabs cake, but suddenly all thoughts are focused on me as I feel stares from around the room.

I used to love drawing attention of any kind, but this time it makes me a bit nervous.

Especially when it's Autumn's birthday and her time to shine.
Screenshot-209.jpg

Then we realize some townie has crashed our party and is eating cake on the commode and thinking it's a great time!

What a weirdo!

But at least it drew the attention away from me.

Imagine me thinking that!

I love attention, but I guess not that kind anymore.
Screenshot-211.jpg

Daddy takes a moment to watch his grandchildren play with other kids in the neighborhood.

Donte Gallo enjoying the rocking rider just like Rayne does.

Little Winter heading for the toy box.

And Rayne playing with a friend from school.
Screenshot-214.jpg

At least that's what I thought daddy was doing.

Turns out he had other plans on his mind.

One that made Carter's smile grow even larger as he overheard them.

Howard Swanson *eagerly*  "Mrs. Dean, may I call you Brina? Brooke speaks of you so often I feel I know you!"

Brina *smiling* "Please do, Mr. Swanson."

Howard: "Howard, please. I feel I must confess a few things. Brooke is adamant about making all her money on her own now. But I'm concerned with the rain and the state of the roof on this old place. It needs to be replaced sometime soon, but I'm not sure it's worth it, even if they had the necessary funds. Carter here was telling me what a wonderful job your builder/architect, that talented MrsFlynn, did on your own home. I was hoping you could give me some more information about her. I want to do something special for Brooke and Jerad and the children, but I don't want to over do it, if you know what I mean."

Brina: "Oh, I know exactly Mr…umm, Howard. Brooke's only let us help them out in a few small ways, with some different plants and a limo for Summer's prom. We've wanted to share our bounty with our friends but she's determined to make it on her own."

Howard *shaking his head* "Yes, it seems I might have gone a little too far with all my life lessons. She's gone so far to the other extreme I feel bad. I never meant to cut her off from her inheritance forever. I just wanted her to find her own inner strength and live a purposeful life."

Brina *wryly* "She's done that alright! But you know, I think MrsFlynn may be able to help us out. She's very creative and she knows how to work within a tight budget. She may not have used one on our house, but I've seen some of her other builds and they are all wonderful. Some large and spacious, others small and cozy, but each with a special charm of their own. I'll tell her exactly what you're looking for and have her get in touch with you."

Howard: "I can't thank you enough Brina. Brooke's mother is not happy with me for pushing Brooke into this, even if it did help her focus and find a good life. And I for one do not like being on the frosty side of Murielle Swanson!"

Brina *picturing Brooke's mother* "I don't doubt that for a minute Howard!"
Screenshot-222.jpg

After the party, Jerad takes Summer out for her after dark driving lesson.

I'm a little nervous as Summer hasn't quite reached level 2 yet, but they both come back safely, if a bit stressed with Summer beaming over maxing her driving skill!

Now we have two teens who can use our truck.

I'm not as thrilled as they are, it will help out, the two of them being able to drive, but a mother worries!
Screenshot-229.jpg

And as I chat with George, I'm half listening to Carter's phone call.

He called Brandy up right after she left, so I guess I wasn't mistaken about the vibe I was feeling between those two.

And I hear him excitedly chatting about seeing her in school the next day and making plans to eat lunch together.
Screenshot-236.jpg

And then I notice Autumn and Winter playing peek-a-boo and my heart melts!

All of our children get along well, but seeing these two being so sweet together is special.

Maybe it's because they're our youngest?
Screenshot-265.jpg

I don't want to interrupt them, but as soon as they finish and Autumn goes to get ready for bed, I snatch Winter up.

And I snuggle her close, reveling in her sweet baby smell and listening to her soft voice.

Toddlerhood is so precious and she's our last one!

And as 7 pm has come and gone, I realize no lucky lottery win for me.

Well, I hadn't really expected it, but a girl can always dream!
Screenshot-266.jpg

Summer's playing with Kobe when she gets a phone call.

It's Nolan, of course, and they have so much to talk about even though he was just here!

I think that's pretty universal for teens everywhere though and just tell her not to stay up too late.
Screenshot-268.jpg

Rayne's up early the next morning getting in some play time with Kobe.

She's quite attached to her and plays with her whenever she gets the chance.
Screenshot-285.jpg

Autumn gets up in time to pick a new hairstyle and try on  the new dress her grandmother picked out.

Here's her pretty new formal in shades of pink.

Mother and I think she looks adorable in it, even if they don't recommend pink for redheads!
Screenshot-292.jpg

Then it's time for school and she runs for the bus with Rayne.

I smile from the garden as I see the two of them.

Rayne, blonde like Jerad, and Autumn sporting my own red locks.

I know I'm prejudice but daddy's right, all of our girls are so beautiful!
Screenshot-300.jpg

It's pretty quiet in the house with just Winter home.

She does play a little tune as she practices her xylophone and maxes it!
Screenshot-311.jpg

So she starts on her peg box skills.

She's more interested in chewing on the blocks than placing them in their holes though.

Good thing she's got a few more days to figure it out!
Screenshot-313.jpg

With the children getting older, we do a little rearranging with the bunk beds so the girls can share the larger room.

With money coming in from our last harvest, we splurge a bit and get Carter a double bed for the small bedroom as the only boy.

We probably should have done that a bit earlier so the teens could have some privacy, but the funds just weren't available then.
Screenshot-309.jpg

After school it's homework time.

The kids are so diligent about it, we don't even have to remind them most of the time.

And Summer and Carter make sure they help Autumn and Rayne so they can get good grades too.

There's was room at the table, but Rayne preferred sitting on the floor so she could pet Kobe.
Screenshot-341.jpg

With Winter down for a nap, and homework done, we all do a mass harvest.

Our red berry beans are just sprouts so still no big cash crop yet.

But we've still got lots of summer time left as the season is quite long here.
Screenshot-326.jpg

Then it's Rayne's birthday!

We have a small family party with just a friend Rayne brought home from school.
Screenshot-381.jpg

And when the sparkles fade away, I'm the mother of three teens!

What's even more surprising is that Rayne looks just like me but with Jerad's blonde hair!

The hairstyle and clothes aren't really her though.

But what is her is her new trait: Cat Person

All that time she spent with Kobe made her love cats just like Summer!
Screenshot-390.jpg

But cake is more important than hair and clothes right now.

So we all grab a big slice and dig in!

Four of us take over the table, leaving Jerad and Carter to eat their cake standing.

After our next harvest money comes in, we'll need to buy a bigger table and some more chairs.

Our family of seven just doesn't fit at our tiny dinette anymore!
Screenshot-395.jpg

With two more birthdays, we now have three teens in the house, Summer, Carter, and Rayne.

Autumn just started school, and Winter will be joining her soon.

And then all of our children will be in school!

That thought makes me realize that Jerad and I will be able to focus on our garden a lot more.

Let's see what happens next in Chapter 20: Meeting School Friends
Coming soon.

Chapter 20: Meeting School Friends
« Reply #41 on: August 20, 2019, 12:59:12 PM »

With only Winter home, Jerad and I spend some romantic time together.

This way we don't make our three teens look away in disgust!
Screenshot-302.jpg

But most of our day is spent in the garden.

With either Jerad or I running in to check on Winter from time to time.
Screenshot-314.jpg

Some days Carter brings friends home from school.
Screenshot-321.jpg

But most days after school he needs some alone time.

Sometimes in the empty public pool in town.
Screenshot-25.jpg

Other times just hanging out in sweet solitude and enjoying the outdoors on the school playground.

He's pretty quiet our son, and needs his own space.

So we try to give him as much as he needs being part of our large family and dealing with the crowd both at home and in school.
Screenshot-24.jpg

But once in awhile, he joins Summer after school and they go to the Summer Festival.

He spends time fishing.
Screenshot-30.jpg

While Summer tries out the skating rink.
Screenshot-35.jpg

And he surprises me by joining the eating contest.

I'm pretty sure Brandy Rios being in the contest had more to do with his joining than the hot dogs.

But when he wins, I'm rethinking my theory!

And with the rain starting to pour down they head home.
Screenshot-48.jpg

Summer, of course, calling to chat with Nolan, every chance she gets!

They talk about so many things that most of the time I'm not really paying much attention.

But every once in awhile the topic sets off alarm bells.

Like when she brings up toddlers and how cute they are playing with blocks!

But relief hits me when I realize they are sharing stories of their younger siblings, not talking about children of their own. Yet.
Screenshot-281.jpg

And Autumn got invited to a friend's house after school one day.

Remember Olivia Rios going into labor during Carter's child birthday party?

And the baby boy Jason was holding when Jerad, Summer, and I went to our first party in town?

That was Brannon Rios, who's now become Autumn's first friend, besides family!
Screenshot-362.jpg

When she's not visiting friends' homes, she spends her free time on the rockin' rider.

She loves it as much as Rayne did!
Screenshot-22.jpg

Speaking of Rayne, she's really enjoying her teen freedom and getting to express her personality.

She certainly looks grown up with a new hair style, make-up, and clothes in her favorite black, with pops of white for contrast.

Such a cute outfit, compliments of her stylish grandmother, but we worry that she may be trying to grow up too fast!
Screenshot-19.jpg

And she has no trouble making friends.

Just see what happened at Winter's birthday party.

Jerad brought Winter to her cake and the kitchen was filled with guests.

A lot of teen boys I don't remember inviting, for starters.
Screenshot-58.jpg

And when the sparkles stop and Winter is a child, my whole focus is on Rayne!

Who's wearing a little black dress that I didn't even know she had!

Then with a shock I realize it was one of MY little black dresses, one mother must have sent me a long time ago.

She must have found it and I must confess she looks gorgeous in it.

Too gorgeous, too old, too...everything!
Screenshot-79.jpg

While everyone else is enjoying cake, she's getting ready to head outside with a childhood friend.

But Donte Gallo is no longer a child and neither is Rayne!

Something I know they are both very much aware of with the looks I've seen them exchanging.

Lucky for my sanity, the doorway is blocked by little Harmony Dean, and the teens can't escape parental supervision!
Screenshot-95.jpg

Later I see her chatting away with Dominic Westmoreland who's Summer's age!

But he's been focused on Rayne from the start of the party.

My worries increase tenfold! An older boy!!!
Screenshot-93.jpg

But I'd have even been more worried if I'd been in the playroom and seen daddy's satisfied smile.

He's included mother and Jerad in his mysterious plans.

And they are both completely caught up with the idea and each other.

Mother loves Jerad being a perfectionist, and he loves mother being neat and proper.
Screenshot-91.jpg

Speaking of neat, with all my worries over Rayne, I almost forgot the birthday girl!

Winter acquired mother's neat trait, along with my love of green.

She was thrilled to get a cute 2-piece swimsuit as a birthday present from her Mimi.
Screenshot-76.jpg

And her neatness led her to start cleaning up after the party.

The bathroom sink is easier for her to reach so she headed in there.

Only to find George Dean doing laundry!

This is the 2nd time a male party guest has done laundry at our house.

I'm not sure if I should be offended or grateful!

I'm going to go with grateful---less laundry for me to deal with, even if it is odd.
Screenshot-99.jpg

Late that night I notice a fairy with the most beautiful wings weaving mysterious sparkly arcs outside in our garden.

It crosses my mind that it would be wonderful if the fairy could cast a spell on our crops and make them worth millions.

But my heads so full of thoughts of Winter's birthday and worries about Rayne, I dismiss the fanciful idea and head for bed.
Screenshot-14.jpg

The next morning is Sunday so no school, but we've got a garden to harvest.

Even if it is pouring outside.

We head  out en masse, and everyone grabs produce as fast as they can.

When we were finally able to get a real tub/shower combo for the house, Jerad put our outdoor shower next to the garden, behind a privacy fence, so we can rinse off after gardening.

That will not be necessary today as we are all soaking wet by the time we finish.
Screenshot-113.jpg

With that task behind us, the kids all take a break for some free time.

Autumn and Winter play at the blocks table to get in some skilling time.

Then they'll play with Winter's new green dollhouse, her birthday present from her grandfather.
Screenshot-121.jpg

Summer invites Nolan over and they get a little romantic while we're still outside.
Screenshot-123.jpg

And Carter surprises us all by not just inviting one, but two teen girls over!

Brandy Rios, we know, but the other girl is a mystery.

Maybe I'm worried about the wrong teen!
Screenshot-125.jpg

Since we've just completed a huge harvest, and more funds should be coming in soon, we add a bar counter with 2 stools to the kitchen.

But my pride and joy is a new dining table with six chairs.

With the counter and larger table we now have seating for our whole family of seven!

Summer and Carter try it out for homework and really like all the extra study space.
Screenshot-76.jpg

The children are all school age now and can all help in the garden.

This has made harvesting a family event and with eager hands, a much faster process.

And I've harvested our first red berry bean crop!

I'm hoping for a big sale after I get this harvest to market.

But with the children growing up, I'm feeling the pressure of being the mother of three teens!

I'm not sure I'm ready.

And Summer becomes a YA soon!

I KNOW I'm not ready for that!

Let's see how I fare in Chapter 21: Magical Monday
Coming soon.

Chapter 21: Magical Monday
« Reply #42 on: August 22, 2019, 07:55:34 PM »

It was late Sunday evening, but I couldn't wait to get our latest harvest consigned.

After all, this one contained the coveted red berry beans.

And the clerk actually raved when he saw them.

Clerk: "Oh my, customers will be happy to see these Mrs. Swanson! And such quality! I hope you're ready for some serious money for this crop!"

I told him I was more than ready with five children to feed, clothe, and care for.

And with an old farmhouse that needed some serious renovations, so we could really use some extra funds.

I toyed with the idea of stopping by the grocery store for a lottery ticket, but I figured it was pointless.

Jerad didn't exactly tell me not to buy anymore, but I know he doesn't consider them part of our frugal budget.

Besides he said it was all just the luck of the draw and I'm not very lucky.

So I just headed home for my bed and some sleep.
Screenshot-131.jpg

I'd told Jerad about the fairy and the mysterious sparkles I'd seen, but he was pretty skeptical.

He'd decided to check on the kids before joining me in bed and he saw some from Carter's bedroom window.

Fairies and sparkles in the garden is one thing, but no father is going to tolerate them near his children!
Screenshot-33.jpg

So Jerad, though he's quite the coward and afraid of the dark, went outside to investigate.

As he approached the golden winged fairy he could see she held a wand in her hand.

She was standing pretty motionless so he figured he was safe enough.

But what he hadn't realize was that she was holding herself steady to cast a spell.

When Jerad stood in front of her to confront her, she let lose with it!

And he lit up with all the colors of the rainbow just flying off of him in every direction!
Screenshot-141.jpg

But when the rainbow lights were gone, instead of feeling singed or frozen, Jerad only felt a tingle.

And then the fairy smiled and said, "Jerad Swanson this is your lucky day! I've blessed you with the luck of the Irish. Use your luck wisely and you just may find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!"

Jerad was all set to dismiss her, but he still felt that tingle, and a sudden thought popped into his head.

*What would Brooke do if she was feeling lucky!?!*

And even though he knew it was probably ridiculous, he went and did it anyway!
Screenshot-144.jpg

Monday morning brings us back to our regular school day routine.

But this morning it's Rayne making pancakes.
Screenshot-152.jpg

And with all five of our children at school, Jerad and I tend the garden.

Planting, watering, weeding, and even harvesting as our plants are all thriving after the rain and now the heat of the summer sun.
Screenshot-154.jpg

Then I help Autumn with homework while Carter reads a book on cooking.

He's decided his sisters aren't the only ones that can help with meals.

But then I realize Rayne didn't come home from school and I ask Carter if he knows where she is.

Carter's caught up in his cookbook, but he mumbles that she stayed to chat with some of her friends.

I don't say anything but I'm worried about what friends!
Screenshot-157.jpg

Rayne on the other hand, is not in the least worried, and is happily planning on spending time with Dominic Westmoreland.

Until she sees someone new.

He tells her his name is Johnny Rhoen and she says, "Hi Johnny, I'm Rayne. Rayne Swanson."
Screenshot-158.jpg

And it's love at first sight for both of them!

Johnny glances at Dominic as he's walking away and asks her if he's her boyfriend.

Rayne shakes her head no, not taking her eyes off him!
Screenshot-161.jpg

He asks her if she's new at school and she tells him it's her first day of high school.

But that she has an older sister, Summer, who has red hair, and is graduating soon.
Screenshot-163.jpg

And an older brother, Carter, that has dark hair, who's been in high school for awhile.
Screenshot-166.jpg

Then Johnny laughs and says, "Oh, I bet you have a younger sister too, one that has red hair!"

Rayne laughs and tells him she actually has two younger sisters with red hair that have just started school recently.

In fact, it was her youngest sister Winter's first day of school ever!

Johnny says, "First days can be tough."

Rayne smiles and says, "Not if you meet the right people."

Their eyes meet again and Rayne takes a bold step.
Screenshot-165.jpg

She asks him his sign.
Screenshot-177.jpg

When he tells her he's a Gemini, she gets even bolder and asks him if he's single!
Screenshot-181.jpg

He tells her he is and says it's getting late and he's getting hungry.

Rayne smiles and asks if he'd like to join her for dinner at the bistro.

When he says 'that's the best idea I've heard all day', her smile gets even bigger.

Then they grab a taxi for the short ride over.

It's at this point that Rayne remembers to call us and tell us where she is!

I explain that tonight's Summer's Drama Recital and we're just walking into the school, so we must have just missed her.

We're not happy that she's missing her sister's big night, but since she's already at the bistro, we tell her  she should go ahead and have dinner.
Screenshot-191.jpg

Then before we can enter the school, I get a message from the consignment store, we just sold $7000 simoleans worth of produce, plus the city honored us for reaching level 7 in gardening with another $1500 each!

I do the dance of joy as I realize we've just made $10,000 in one day, more than doubling our family funds!

Then the town clock strikes 7 pm and suddenly our bank account gets hit with another deposit!

$100,000 this time!!!

All I can do is scream, "The fairy's magic! It must have been a spell on the garden!"

Jerad hides a smile and tells me we need to get inside or we're going to be late.
Screenshot-192.jpg

I wonder how he can be so calm.

I'm so excited I'm trembling and realize that with both those deposits Jerad and I have completed our Lifetime Wishes!

But I can't disappoint Summer so I try to calm myself down and hurry inside.

When Rayne and Johnny are through with dinner, they head outside.

Rayne is surprised to meet her grandparents as they're heading in for dinner.

I think what shocks her the most is her grandmother's outfit.

Rayne *commiserating* "Oh, Mimi, did dad make you shop at the thrift store too?!"

Her grandmother laughs and shakes her head 'no', and says, "I've been volunteering at the elementary school. With no committees to be part of here in town yet, I had to do something with my free time." *shooting her husband a look* "And I knew I should have changed for dinner!"

Howard *smiling* "Murielle you look fine. It's just such a different look for you that Rayne was just taken by surprise. Isn't that right Rayne?"

Rayne sees the twinkle in her granddad's eyes and smiles and says, "Absolutely Mimi! In fact, you look like you've lived here in Aggie's Corner forever. They don't dress real fancy here."

This gives her grandmother just the opening she needs as she says, "Speaking of fancy dresses, yours looks very nice. Makes you look very grown up!"

Johnny, who hasn't taken his eyes off of Rayne, can't resist adding, "Beautiful. The most beautiful girl I've ever seen!"

Rayne blushes just a bit being in the presence of her grandparents, but can't help turning to him.

Johnny closes the gap and pulls her into his arms.

Grandparents forgotten, Rayne returns his hug, totally overwhelmed by the feelings she's experiencing
for the first time.

Her grandfather has been engaged in conversation by another restaurant patron, but her grandmother tilts her head and gives the teen couple a knowing smile as she fondly recalls her own first stirrings of love.

After Summer's Recital, we get home and Jerad and I start chatting about our riches.

Well, I'm chatting excitedly, going on and on about the fairy and her magic spell on our garden.

Then I realize Jerad hasn't said a word and has a rather sheepish expression on his face.

Then he tells me that the fairy did not put a magic spell on our garden, but one did put a magic spell on him!

A spell that made him lucky for 24 hours.

And he confesses that he did something he knew I would do if I was feeling lucky.

He bought a lottery ticket! And it was worth $100, 000!

I find myself stabbing a finger at him in disbelief, saying, "You bought a ticket!?! After telling me it was a waste of money!?!"

I know he's ready to be on the receiving end of my wrath.

But I totally surprise him by laughing with glee and flinging my arms around him, exclaiming, "You wonderful, wonderful man! We can fix the roof, and have money for Summer's expansions for the house and the farm! If we budget it carefully, maybe expansions for a few generations."

Jerad grabs my hand and whispers, "Maybe that honeymoon we never got to take? Somewhere warm and romantic?"

I giggle, actually giggle, and say, "Now that's a great idea. One I know definitely comes from my hopeless romantic teddy bear, and not his frugal, stick-to-our-budget practical side!"

Jerad laughs seductively in my ear, and says, "It's easy to think of romance with such a beautiful wife. I might even be persuaded to add to our family!"

I pull back at that suggestion and say, "No, you were right about Winter making our family complete. Now that she's in school and Summer graduates soon, we need to focus on our garden. Increasing both the quantity and quality of our crops in preparation for Summer's expansions."

Jerad smiles and says, "Who's being practical now? Looks like some of my frugal trait is wearing off on you my sweet!"

I smile and say, " Yours and daddy's! I get budgeting advice from both of you so it's no wonder I'm picking up a little!"

But both of us are still overwhelmed by our good fortune with the influx of so much cash.

$10,000 from our produce sale and bonuses and $100,000 from our lottery winnings!

We now have $118,000 in our bank account.

I know I would have considered that peanuts not long ago, but with our big family and the farm to take care of, it's a heaven sent miracle!

And all still due to fairy magic in my mind. That fairy put a spell on Jerad after all, so on the garden or on him, either way, magic!

We know the bulk of the money needs to go into expansions on the house and farm, and maybe purchasing small homes for the other children.

But for now, Jerad and I just smile at each other, hold hands, and just revel in our good fortune.

Well, a surprising turn of events for the Swanson's!

They now have a substantial amount of money to their name.

Money that Brooke is trying to be practical about, using it for Summer's expansions to the house and farm.

But Jerad and Howard, along with Brina, have a surprise for Brooke.

One that involves the Dean's architect, MrsFlynn!

Let's see what they're plotting in Chapter 22: Meeting MrsFlynn
Coming soon.

I tried posting a new chapter yesterday only to get a dreaded blank white screen. I was able to post earlier to my TJ story, so was surprised when this one didn't post. Then I tried to post a comment letting all of you know I'm still working on getting another chapter posted. Unfortunately that wouldn't post either. Then I couldn't get in to the Forum at all. Thankfully MrsFlynn kept me updated on issues and provided a link to Carl's thread about posting issues. Once I got back into the Forum, and read it, it sounds like he's doing his best to fix all of the problems. I barely understood some of the things he was talking about, so I'm glad he does! :) If this post works, I may try and post an new chapter for this story, once I figure out what new cookie I need and how to delete the old ones. I've got yet another inquiry e-mail to MrsFlynn for that! Thanks to all who have been reading and to MrsFlynn and Carl for doing their best to make this site a welcoming place for all things Sim!
