Kalamainu'u and Ukupanipo
« on: July 23, 2019, 06:27:39 AM »
Did a little research on those two names. FYI, they are two of the premade townie merfolk in Sulani. Their appearance and personality somewhat reflect the origin of their names. I find that awesome.

From Wikipedia:

Kalamainu'u - She is said to have lured her lover Puna-ai-koa'e to her cave where she kept him prisoner. When he longed to go surfing again, Kalamainu'u gave him her surf board, but warned him not to speak with anyone. He, however, spoke with friends who told him his lover's true nature. He returned to her cave, saw her in her true form, but showed no fear. Kalamainu'u killed the informants.

Ukupanipo - In Hawaiian mythology, Ukupanipo is a shark god who controls the amount of fish close enough for the fisherman to catch. He occasionally adopted a human child who gains the power to transform into a shark.

"He occasionally adopted a human child who gains the power to transform into a shark." God the story opportunities EA missed out on. Thanks for the info!
