In David and Leigh Eddings' the Belgariad and the Mallorean series, everything ultimately came down to choices. In case people haven't read the books and want to ... I'm putting a spoiler tag below where I give a very brief summary of what happens in the end of the Belgariad series of books and an alternate course of events.
Durnik chose to protect Polgara, and was killed by the 2IC Bad Guy, Zedar, who in turn was sealed in stone for ever by Belgarath. Torak, the Big Bad, tried to force Polgara to love him, but she was reminded by her ultimate nephew, Garion that Durnik truly loved her, and she chose to spurn the advances of Torak. The resulting duel between Torak and Garion saw Garion defeat the maimed big bad, using a number of cutting retorts that hurt the 'impotent godling' as much as the burning orb in the hilt of the sword of the Rivan King. In the aftermath, the remaining Gods restored Durnik to life, Durnik and Polgara married and went and lived in a cottage in the Vale of Aldur.
in an alternative universe of the Belgariad/Mallorean (of my own devising, based on any numerous of fan fictions on the writings of David & Leigh Eddings, Polgara gave in to Torak, Torak killed Garion in their following struggle, Zedar sealed Belgarath in the tomb of stone underground (living but unable to do a thing - he lives forever so he suffers forever) and Durnik, Ce'Nedra, Errand and Silk ran. Polgara had told Durnik of her house covered in roses, and he ran there ... wanting to set up a new life for himself ... a second life as it were ...
This then, is the story of Goodman Durnik originally of Faldor's Farm in Sendar. In the books he is a blacksmith who was very strong and logical and he loved to fish. I'm giving him loves the out doors and angler, as well as genius, equestrian and eccentric. Handiness is probably a bet fit for him than eccentric, but the rules specifically said no handiness/green thumb for the founder.
For quite some time there's been a version of Sunset Valley called
Adventureland that I've had access to. The Wikia article on it indicates it is available if you download world adventures via origin and was initially included by accident.
It comes with only two sims (Jack Ransome and Sally Hardy) and is a version of the world without the autoplacement of expansion pack lots in it.
I have chosen to play on that lot next to Stony Falls (as it is 'out of town') and have placed the following in town
* Stones Throw Greenhouse (I'm choosing to not pick up the suns, just seeds and harvesting plants)
* Consignment Store/Elixir Consignment Store
* Junkyard
* Dog/Cat/Horse buildings
* Equestrian centre
* Fire Station.

The Cottage. The books describe it as a cottage that Polgara magically grew roses around it to keep it from public view. So, I put in roses and haunted roses and weeds and dead weeds around it. First Expansion was the fenced yard around the swift go area and the covered area outside the house for the washing machine and clothes line.

Goodman Durnik (in the game his name is Durnik Goodman) gardening at Stony Falls. The current garden is going to be fruit.

The inside of 'Rose Cottage'. Two bedrooms, one kitchen/living/dining area and one bathroom. Outside is washing machine and clothes line.
I checked the consignment stores (the elixir one and the general one). Jack Ransome is the specialist at the general consignment store, and a game generated female sim (name of Francisca Justice) is the specialist at the elixir consignment store. The game has also generated a newspaper delivery boy.

Here is Jack Ransome, working late at the elixir store. Or pretending he's working or something. It is 10:42pm on the first Sunday night in game and he's still there.

Maybe he's hiding form the three paparazzi investigating the garden at the consignment store. That's right ... three of the blighters, and no one in town that I can see has a single star of fame. Or maybe they are wanting to get a gladiator camera.
Jack Ransome lives in the Goddard-Wan House, while Sally lives two doors away in what I believe is the Claire Ursine house. Apart from the three amigos err paparazzi, Francisca, the Newsie, Jack, Sally and Durnik, the only other sign of life I've seen are two wild horses.

Both said "no" err "neigh" when asked to move in with Durnik.

Unlike Jack, who really should be at home sleeping, instead of playing with the merchandise, Francisca Justice is at her till in the elixir consignment store, waiting, just waiting for a customer.
So what about Sally Hardy, for whom Durnik has set his metaphoric hat? Well, she is ambitious ... too bad if she does work it'll be as a farmer. He found that out by asking her about her job. Her other traits are lucky, charismatic, athletic and a daredevil. I found that out by looking at her Sims Wikia page.

And before we wish them good night, a picture of Sally and Durnik watching the stars and thinking of the event some years earlier on that night when sims went to Sixam for the first time.
