No whims popping up

I have been having a rather frustrating time lately in my game, none of my sims have any whims popping up any more.  I've tried starting a new game, and playing older households, and its the same problem.  I've tried repairing it through origin, and short of a full uninstall and reinstall, I'm out of ideas.  Suggestions?

Have you double checked the 'show whims' tick box in options>gameplay?

Awhile back in a patch they added a box to hide or show whims in options>gameplay and set it as off for default. So all you need to do is as HelenP said go and click "show whims" box as apparently the randomness of some of them annoyed someone somewhere. At least that is what the developers said was the reason they added that box. I don't get it but it apparently made someone happy to hide that game data.

I had looked before and didn't see it, but i'll check again, thank you.  I'll let you know if it works.

update.  I found it.  Works now.  Thanks a million, I can play the game again.  Guess this can be marked for closing.
