Cannot complete or see the action that causes you to investigate the type of food fish at a fishing hole like.  Sim looks, stands around, and no reading of the water shows up.  Makes it hard to catch certain types of fish.  This is with just a normal Sim, not a mermaid, in world's other than Sulani.

Are you saying that your sims can not complete this action in all worlds except Sulani? I've tested and my sims are able to do this in every world (including Sulani) but the animation has changed with the last patch. Remember that if it is winter, fishing might not be available in some of the colder climate worlds, especially if it is snowing and the water has ice on it.

There should be a notification in the top right Notification Panel (drop down) telling you what the results are, which may be nothing depending on your sims fishing skill level. The 'Examine Water" unlocks, it seems, at L3 fishing skill if your sim is focused and I think still at L5 fishing skill for any other emotion. But I've had different results with this since the last update (which updated the fishing skill). It may be that once your sim has unlocked this interaction early through being in the focused emotion it stays unlocked.

Yes, this was the case at high levels of fishing.  Since the last, (day or so ago) update, this has been fixed.  The animation is indeed a bit different and the wording is actually a bit more complete.  Option was actually given at level 2, I believe, (might have been level 3), fishing skill.  Fishing at first seems to be a bit more productive and easy to catch those first five fish for the aspiration.

@Joria  I also think there is a new game mechanic at play with the Exam Water action as often it will fail (like it used to before the patch that updated the fishing skill) but not tell the player...I think this is intentional idk. tbh I found my sim catching many fish up until level 6 and then after that it has been very slow going. Now that he has maxed the skill and completed the aspiration catching fish is difficult for him, so weird and the opposite of what normally happens.  If this is intended game play then I'm not a fan.

Examine water will also put the 'discovered fish' into your collections panel even though your sim has not caught that particular fish which I find super annoying as now I have to remember which fish my sim has caught and which he has simply discovered. I mean, I could keep them all in his inventory or mounted on a wall..but what a pain to be constantly checking to see what is missing that way.  :(

Examine water unlocks at L3 of the skill now too for sure, I just double checked  :)

I agree and am also not a fan.  In my learning/experimental game once my Sim maxed fishing and maxed the aspiration, all he  has been able to catch are the lowest level fishes.  Got lots of minnows.  Definitely not a fan of having the "discovered" fish go into your collection panel.  In my case not quite as big a deal atm, since I mount the first of each fish I catch, and being a bit ocd about it, I hang them in the order they show up in the collection panel.

I have a new "problem/annoyance".  This is with my for real ID attempt with Sulani based game.  My founder is one I had created way back when and had forgotten about.  She had no skills so after updating her wardrobe in cas I went with her.  (Probably a mistake)  Her first day out she went to the gym, (I use the newer Maxis one and replace the one in Willow Creek with it), and met several people including her merman.  Only problem is, wherever she went, all the people she introduced herself to, went also.  I had remodeled the upper level to add a kitchen behind where the bar is so she went and made grilled cheese.  And they all came and ate grilled cheese.  She went to sleep in the tent I added, and they all hung around in various stages of exhaustion, or napped where they could while she slept.  Since they kept popping in and out of the tent, I gave it up as a lost cause and sent her home to sleep.  Merman moved in and all seemed normal.  Only when she went back to the gym, with the merman for more exercising the next day, the gym was empty. ???  Oh, well, figured that everyone was elsewhere even though it was only 11 o'clock.  Time for a shower, and merman needed hydration which he could do in the pool, so off they went.  While showering the creepy music started and voices could be heard outside.  I checked and ALL the people she had met were there and then some!! They were in various stages of freezing to death!  All hanging around outside the gym and chatting and freezing.  No one came in despite need to shower or need to pee.  (Meanwhile, she and merman are doing their thing.)  First to die was Geoffrey Landgraab!  Second, that islander who is hooked up with the blonde girl and has a son.  (Can't remember their names).  Finally, after much grieving and weeping, one by one they drifted off leaving the urns  and Grim behind.  I was relieved to see them leave her because they kept hanging around and yet not being able to do what they needed.  I don't know if this will continue and she will have a retinue of people hanging around or not. !!  Not sure what to do so I did a "Save As".
To make it worse, I cannot get her to do or go anywhere I tell her to unless I teleport her, which I should not be able to do at this point.  She only has a one in wellness.  To get her to do anything I have to put her right in front or beside whatever it is, stove, treadmill, shower, whatever, and then tell her to do the action.  I can't just click on a queue of things and have her follow as they all get canceled, not only for her, but also her merman.  I think this goes beyond the traveling issue of "can't get there from here", that a lot of folks have mentioned.  Do you or MrsFlynn recognize this?  Is it a bug needs reporting?

@Joria have tried repairing your game? Give that a try and see if that helps.

In Origin > Games Library, right-click on Sims 4 and select Repair.

Always.  Clear out cache, etc., click on repair, play.  It's a routine.  Meanwhile, went back into Willow Creek, this time the museum.  So far no hangers on.  Will have to try the gym later after they catch up on sleep, to see if it's maybe the gym that is messed up.  Saved the interactions with Grim.  Really is quite amusing, especially since she made friends with him after gathering up the urns!

What a relief to go to sunny Sulani after drismal Willow Creek! My Sims, and I, get so depressed with the gloom.  So cold there.  I think it's the coldest world in the game and for the longest time, then it gets too hot!  Kind of like upstate New York!  Rainy, muddy, drismal spring, too hot and muggy summer, awesome fall, and freezing, blizzarding winters.  Oregon gets a lot of rain but it's gentle and cleans the air and doesn't leave it muggy, and too hot is such a brief time.  Glorious springs and autumn and winter is cold, (but where I am it's like banana belt so not much snow or much cold), but I still have roses in bloom in January.

Will be posting questions on ID page.

I also experience a lot of lightning fast "teleportation" in Sulani. I assume it's related to the general routing issues, only they've clearly worsened with IL. The developers seem pretty quiet, but I'm hoping they are grinding gears to figure out how to solve the overwhelming amount of bugs that occurred in the wake of this expansion. And hoping they'll announce a patch soon.

Of course, now that I play an 8-member household nothing is going as smoothly as if I only played a single Sim.

@Joria
Maybe a lot of your issues were to do with the fact that when Grim has to reap a lot of sims like that this causes major ... well...pausing in the normal flow of the game. Grim has to reap, sims have to weep, more sims die, more weeping, reaping..and so on. it actually causes a lot of the normal directions/flow of the game to come to a grinding halt.
I solve the NPC's freezing to death by spamming the area with the outside patio heaters that came with Dine Out. Not sure if you can do this in a challenge with rules etc but this way at least the NPC's don't all die at once causing this weird 'lag' like issues. Not ideal, but some sort of work-around.

Interesting!  In a ID you can add things to areas that can be built on, like a maxis building, so yeah that would work.

New issue I noticed:

Sims are set not to age up except the house I am playing.  I have multiple houses around that I play for a bit then go to the next... etc.  But houses that I am not in are aging up, pets dying off, etc... even though I have that setting correctly set NOT to do that.

Can someone test this in your game and see if you have the same issue?  Still no mods or cc here.

Is that because when you rotate away from each household they are still marked as 'Played'? In that case the setting that states "Auto Age (Played Sims)" when checked to "Yes" will age up all sims that you have played regardless if you are rotated away or actively playing them.

Or are you saying that you have it set to " Only Active Household"? In which case..for sure only the household you are actively playing should be the one aging.

I have mine set to only active household.

I've also started crashing when in the gallery.  That's just started in the last couple days.  Still no mods or cc.

@mrstank12  I'm not sure what to suggest as it could be that your computer needs to be updated or specifically it's drivers need updating etc. I was having blue screen crashes during playing The Sims 4 a few weeks ago or so and the error report was telling me it was a memory issue...which I knew it wasn't as I have a beefy gaming rig. Turned out I had missed a few critical updates and once I had everything updated my game has run well (as well as my PC in general with no crashes and so on).  Helpful link maybe

This is Crinrict's bug post about critical crashes as EA say there are none that are reproducible currently meaning that it's almost 100% going to be the users computer. Sims4 Crashes

If it's not your computer, as you are better at maintenance than me lol, then uninstalling and then reinstalling the game can really help to clear out a lot of the annoying bugs and glitches. It doesn't remove your save files when you do this. Walk thru to Uninstalling/Reinstalling

Here's an open bug report on computer crashes that you can add info to if you know 100% that everything is updated and working correctly so can not possibly be 'user error': Sims 4 Crashes

Obviously the game is extremely buggy at the moment. So uninstalling/reinstalling will not fix everything but when I have done this previously I have noticed a good improvement.

As for the aging issue, I really don't know. I've played a few sims weeks now in a few different test files and my aging settings are doing what they should do. This doesn't mean that it is not a bug though, just means I can't reproduce it. You could make a Bug Report about it as crinrict will know if there is an open bug report on this issue already. I searched but couldn't find anything that was recent enough to be useful: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/The-Sims-4-Bugs
