Computer shuts down while playing Sims
« on: December 28, 2010, 10:31:24 AM »
Shut down isn't really the word. It turns off without warning and this only happens when playing the sims game. I didn't do it for awhile when I first started playing but started about 3 months ago. It doesn't happen everytime I play but most of the time. Not sure what the problem is. I am hoping maybe someone can help if I am not the only one this happens to.

Might be a heat issue. Have you ever had your computer cleaned out? How old is it?

Having a tech open it up and having all the dust sucked out. Some people are not afraid to do that themselves, but I won't do that. It might be something else causing your shutdowns, but I know heat can do that.

Overheating for dustiness, overheating for overprocessing, system parts incompatibility, not enough RAM, not enough virtual memory (free space in HD), outdated drivers. Next step is knowing what is causing it.
