"Missing Texture" for sketches

Hope this is in the right section. Okay, my (awesome) parents bought me Late Night and Ambitions for Christmas, so I thought I'd make the most of the new clothes and give the Stylist career a shot. Thing is, whenever my Sim tries to Research Fashion Concepts at her drafting table the picture she's sketching doesn't show up, and instead I get a blank white slate with 'MISSING TEXTURE' written across it. They still seem to function like regular sketches (can be hung, sold etc.) but the images themselves are missing. I haven't tried the Architectural option yet but I assume it would be the same. Also, paintings still show up even at the drafting table but some have been coming out a bit off-centre since the install and with a blank space off to the side. It kind of sucks because I love seeing what my Sims create and I was really looking forward to checking out the new sketches, and I haven't really had the heart to continue with that Sim since. Does anyone here have an idea what caused this, or how to fix it?

My first question would be, is your game fully patched? If so, then do you run any custom content/mods that might need to be updated? Seems I've seen this question somewhere (another forum, maybe) and the problem was outdated mods or content.

I have the same exact problem.  I can't explain it.  I have no mods or third party CC.  On the desktop and my daughter's laptop, it is fine.  But on my new laptop, it's one week old, I noticed that it says "missing texture" on the drafting table in the consignment store.  I haven't been able to figure out why yet.

I did a search and ran across a post on the Sims 3 community forums. Apparently this happened with the last update, and it's only when using it for sketching - the post I read, the poster said painting seems to work fine.

Yep, I'm fully patched, no mods and the only third-party content I have is a couple of patterns. Thanks for looking it up sdinger70, it sounds like I have the same problem as your poster. If it happened with the last patch, and to a number of people, hopefully EA will be able to fix it pretty soon. I guess I'll just have to wait it out. Thanks again!

Wow, that is strange.  I guess I have not done a sketch since the patch came out.  Thanks for posting a screen shot.  Just another glitch.  I do hope that the do get it fixed.

I just fired up my game to check, and it looks like the problem's fixed itself! Thanks for your help guys, it was just a temporary thing after all. Over and out!

The problem is damaged cashe files.  If it happens again (or to anyone else) deleting them will cause the drawings to reappear.

Yea I deleted some of mine and the problem was solved.

Here are the ones I deleted:

  CASPartCache.package
  compositorCache.package
  scriptCache.package
  simCompositorCache.package

They are located at documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3. They aren't in any of the folders there and you don't have to worry about your game as they are recreated when you open up the launcher. So if you have the problem again, just delete them.

I can verify that cleaning out the Cache solved this problem for me. Be very sure to pay close attention to the steps that have been posted on the forum and make saved copies of your game before you do anything.

I have ambitions installed on my laptop, and I'm getting this missing texture stuff. It's making me angry. I deleted the caches and nothing happened. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
