Forum Guide Navigation
« on: December 26, 2010, 08:26:52 AM »
I believe many of you will make use of the new links at the top of the forum, I know I will. I've linked to every major guide section as per request and to avoid people needing to hunt through board descriptions to find the link they want. Sure, it's a touch spammy but its usefulness can't be denied.

I'm also going to work on making the image in the header link back home :) I know for a lot of people clicking a picture like that is a first instinct.

And yes, the link up there does search the guide AND forum, handy for when you just need to find the info no matter where. Our search here is not very good, but so long as google has crawled the topic you're looking for this should help get you there.

Carl, I just had an idea. I know -- mark the calendar for that fact in itself! :) I really like the new Guide links. But, I'm wondering if the top row buttons -- all of which are mainly forum related (home, gallery, help, search, admin, profile, my messages, calendar, members, logout) could be squeezed into two rows underneath the white blank area that lists someone's total time online. That would separate it from the Guide links nicely. Then the guide links might be stretched across the whole forum at the top in a single line. You might even consider using the green box look that's on the Guide to call player's attention to the new stuff.

Metro, none of the 3 bars seem to fit side-by-side, unless Carl would squeeze them up, or make the font size smaller, which isn't really a need. I like it the way it is. It's outta this world.

Oh yea, by the way, you (Carl) should ask Leto for that logotype-like thingy he used in the opening of his video, with the "the sims 3 font". Would be better than pure black letters.

Awesome. My original idea --forget it -- because the color separation makes it quite clear what's forum and what's Guide stuff. Well done, boss.

Thanks I think it is something I should have done a long time ago, as intimately as the guide and forum are connected.

Fabulous! Been waiting patiently ever since the "News" part went up and the link to the guide disappeared.

Thanks Carl!

I really like this linking improve upgrade.
And now you are busy with improving the search engines on the forum I can trow up some idea I really see the benefit of: a Search Member Function.
In most (if not: all) cases I want to message a member an e-mail, I have to go through all the posts until I find the member's name I'm looking for. If I could simply typ a name in the Search bar and will get an result, that would make my work really convenient. I do believe it would help others also.

You can already do that, Leto.  Click on "Members" on the bar at the top left.  Then click on the Search Members tab.  You'll then see a search box where you can type in the member's name.

Ah, it was right in my face all the time! No wonder I didn't see it. :P Thanks Pam.
