A Parental Wish

Can someone tell me, when a Simmy parent wants their child to be a genius, what exactly needs to happen for that wish to be fulfilled?  I've seen this wish quite a few times and never known what it meant.  The child's having the Genius trait isn't enough to satisfy that wish, so does it mean they want their child to maximize Logic, or what?

Well, that makes sense.  What's been confusing me is that a lot of times the child already has the Genius trait when the parents get this wish.  Maybe it's just one of those weird Sims glitches.

Ha ha. Yeah, that is a funny glitch. Toddler with Genius trait and then parent gets the wish..."Hmmmm, nope. I can't see it." Then YOU give the trait when the Toddler ages up to Child. "OHHH! There it is."

I thought it was a matter of the toddler having to play with the peg board and blocks.  My dad just got that wish for his toddler.

I also believe this is correct. If I remember right, I had a sim with this wish and giving the child the Genius trait fulfilled it. But I've also had it happen where I gave a newborn the same trait and the parent got the wish. Not sure if it would have been filled when they aged up to child or teen, as I scrapped the wish since the baby already had the trait and didn't want to wait to see if it was fulfilled.

Playing with the peg board will help with the Logic skill.  It doesn't have anything to do with the Genius trait.  Giving the child the Genius trait is the way to grant the wish of the parent.

This reminds me of the 'Child becomes a Doctor' wish. I hate both these wishes, because they're usually for sims I never ever plan on making Geniuses or a doctor. Has anyone ever gotten the doctor wish? I've usually gotten it from the mother sims, but twice I've gotten it from both parents.

I've gotten it before. I had a married couple who had several children, and the first two that were born, the parents got the wish for both of them, as well as a wish that they became scientists.

Yeah, I only got Scientist once, but I get doctor almost every time.
