Can butlers/maids look after your Garden?

My Sim's a level 10 at Gardening and he has quite a large garden, but he's very low on funds, and he can't go to work without letting the plants die. Can maids or butlers look after the garden when your away?

I've never played with a butler, but I know my maids have never stepped foot into the garden and helped out there. I think it's something your Sim has to take care of.
You've played too much TS3 when ... your 13 month old's babble sounds like Simlish!

Well, the simplest solutions I see are:

1) You could have your level 10 gardener quit the other job and join the Gardener career;

2) Bring someone else into the household to take care of the garden.

Butlers generally have Cooking and Handiness maxed, and I don't know of any way to make a butler learn Gardening. Also, I don't think any Sim will autonomously tend/weed/harvest the plants in the garden (I'm guessing Green-Thumbs will autonomously go talk to plants if their social is low, but don't think they'd tend them). Maids never tend the garden.

In addition to Metro's two options, here's a third one:

3) Make sure all your plants are in range for the sprinkler. Harvest them as wanted, and weed only when you have time to do so.

I don't believe you actually have to weed. For the rest you've said I can say it is totally true.
The thing is, butlers (or maids if you count them in too) don't even have the ability to learn something. Nothing will get tracked in their skill journal also, which you could check by saving after one has made a dish, add them to your household (hold down ctrl+shift+c, type: testingcheatsenabled true, shift-click sim and add them). Now you have access to their skill journal and you will see that nothing has tracked.
Don't forget to quit without saving otherwise you are stucked with personal in your family tree. Unless you are wanting that ofcourse. ;)

Well, I haven't ever heard of any issues that people had by not weeding they gardens, but all those weeds just make them look ugly, hence why I said "only when you have time to do so".

So, Naga, you have never had any issue of not weeding plants resulting in any ill effects aside from the eyesore?

Not really, no. There's nothing about it on the wikia either, so I just assumed nothing happens. I hadn't weeded my plants for 1 sim week, and then I weeded them. The only thing that happened is my Sim wasting 6 sim-hours to pull the weedies off the ground (and my garden looked nice again, of course).

Exactly what you've said: 'Looks nice agian.' I am wondering of a weeded garden will actually infect the environment possitively for a sim.
I already know that a whole bunch of full grown ready to pick life fruit plants indeed infect the moodlet. Until one will pluck it, than the environment moodlet will disapear.

I don't know about the butlers, but the maids never take care of the plants! Sometimes, if you put the plants indoor (with moveobjects on), and turn on the spinkler, this will make water appear on the floor, and that's when the maid will come close to the plants, but will never touch them...  :D And if you're low on funds, use motherlode cheat in the cheatbox (testingcheatsenabled true must be enabled), this will give your simmie a nice amount of 50.000 $! Happy simming! ;)
