Hey!
Today I made a writer, and it's the first sim I had that was 'rich' (100.000 simoleons xD)
(shows how much of a noob I am).
What I did was mostly write Children's books, and it worked out quite well.
Just before I stopped earning money (it was becoming kind of boring, because I was playing for 3 hours
) the children's books were pumping out around 600-700 per book (I had tons of hits and best-sellers).
It seems like I could write about 4 or 5 (can't really remember) books per day.
If we take the minimum: 600 * 4 = 2400 per day x 6 weeks
So if you do this for 6 weeks it would max out at 2400 x 42 = 100800 simoleons per week
I have an author, self-employed now, who has been writing since she was a teen and now is halfway to elder. I don't have her stats on her writing and reading books but currently is making around $16,000 per week, which I think is really good.
I don't know if there is a mistake in my calculations, if you weren't focusing almost all of your time on writing books, or if you meant the addition of income each week, but 16,000 per week seems quite low.
Too bad it only pays a one-time payment of $2000.
Are you sure? I think I got about 9000 simoleons per week for 6 weeks for a masterpiece.
Oh and once your author is able to write books faster, romance is the way to go...pays around $2000/wk x 6 weeks.
It could very well be that romance is better than children's books if done correctly, but I wrote children's books so I could easily get the wishes for reading amounts of books and write amounts of books (even though I squeezed in a romance novel or later a masterpiece every now and then to get one of the wishes for amount of money for one book)
Some notes:
Note 1: I don't have ambitions, so I can't be self-employed (and I also don't know how it really works
)
Note 2: My data isn't that accurate, and probably also not maximized, maybe in the future I'll make some real notes and calculations so can give more accurate results.
Note 3: If we want to know which books are most effective we probably need a writer for each type of book that could be the best (children's, romance and masterpiece mostly, probably). I could gather some data for children's books, but someone else has to do the other two genres. (also, if I gather data for children's books, keep in mind I'm still a noob, and I probably don't know what is the absolute best way to write the highest possible amount of books each day)
Hopefully this post was helpful
