Sims 4 Genetics Question
« on: August 04, 2018, 11:58:07 PM »
Hi everyone!  I'm new to posting to this site but am a long-time lurker and have used it multiple times to answers any and all Sims related questions.

I just wanted to ask a question about the genetics in this game.  I will say that so far I love the genetics, it does seem to be more realistic than Sims 3 in that respect.  My main question:  does the game factor in the grandparents when determining genetics for new babies?  I ask because my family's oldest daughter married Alexander Goth (after I gave his nose and ears some plastic surgery of course, lol). Anyway, they had a little boy who is still a toddler, and in the meantime Mortimer and Bella also have a set of twins (boy and girl), also toddlers.  Well I went into manage households to change the twins' names to something more Goth appropriate, and I noticed that the little boy that Mortimer and Bella had looks almost identical to the little boy Alexander had with my sim!  I'm talking eerily similiar.  In CAS I changed Mortimer and Bella into toddlers (and exited so it didn't save them as toddlers lol), and it looked like it was Mortimer who the toddlers take after.  I mean, I do think Alexander has some shared features of Mortimer, but it seems like his son has too many similarities to his toddler uncle and Mortimer that it got me wondering if the kids sometimes take after their grandparents moreso than parents at times?  If so that is really cool!  I think this happens in real life too so if that's the case I am good with it.

I know that the toddlers don't have as defining features as they do when they're older, but my gosh, they really looked so similar!  And the little boy (I named him Alistair) looks nothing like any of the toddlers in my family did.  I guess it will be interesting to see how he turns out as he gets older!

Well he just aged up to child.  Now I feel like he resembles his father more.  Whichever way, I think it's safe to say he resembles the Goth side of the family!

He aged up with glasses, and I decided to keep him with them because I thought it was cute since his dad wears them and he does have the Whiz Kid aspiration :-)
